Another appointment question.

Given existing law and recently passed legislation, who would you select for the following positions (or what process would you use)?

(1) Media Officer
(2) Tourism Officer
(3) Chancellor of the University of the East Pacific
(1) I think Todd would be the best Media Officer, so I would love to see him take on that role, and he's already done a lot with the TEP newspaper. If he refuses... I'd ask AMOM or Tano as they both have an excellent writing style and have written things for TEP before. If somebody else volunteers I would appoint them though and give them a chance.

(2) My initial thought for this is East Malaysia as he is well rooted in the forum and active on the RMB, he'd probably do it best, but I'd be open to appointing anybody who reads what is going on in the forum and can actively and positively invite more natives to join us.

(3) Again I'm thinking East Malaysia and Todd would be best equipped for this, having contributed a lot to the university already. I'd be happy to appoint someone new provided they had done their homework on what Liberty City is all about and be have a mind that is open to the widest possible range of subjects for the university.

No...I'm sorry, I cannot support you. I fully support the conclave. Of all of the relations to keep, you're going to keep the UDL's? Ridiculous. Also, its way to extreme to close all but 2 embassies.
Vote for me then. :) I'm putting more things for the Conclave to do. :)
I don't think campaigning in other threads is allowed.

At the very least, it's probably frowned upon.

I would like to redirect to one of my other questions.

You said to me that you believe alienation for tep is a positive thing.

How do you believe that having The East Pacific alienated from some of the most influential regions in the game is a positive thing?

I would like to nominate Lazlow also but I'm not sure if he'd be interested. (Lazlow if you're reading, is arbiter something you'd like to do?) As he's in charge of the map it's essential he stays active so I think if the conclave keeps him around more that will serve the map as well as the judiciary.
I have to reject that offer. I'm not interested in government positions. (And I was an arbiter before.)

Since you have voted for AMOM, could this be taken that you've endorsed AMOM for the delegate position?

I understand.

Since I would need to appoint three arbiters I'd need to pick two more to go with Old Fed to join Juris and Drak.

I'd be happy for almost anybody to do it. I wouldn't approach any magisters as I think we need to keep people in the mag. I would send out a message to the following citizens: Eluvatar and Westwind, Feux and Mahaj, Divitaen and Grymestone, Stateless573 and Xoriet, to see if they would be interested in being arbiters. I could potentially appoint all 9 of them, which would make a conclave of 11, but I will only be nominating people who, having conversed about it, are a minimum level of happy :)

If elected delegate I will aim to repeal the world assembly security council resolution 109.

Resolution 109 was proposed by Feux and it was passed with the delegate support of all the game created regions.

In my view resolution 109 is illogical and illegal. Resolution 109 is a liberation proposal. Liberation proposals remove delegate-imposed barriers to free entry to a region.

The liberation mechanism is designed to protect natives from invaders who are taking control of their region in a way they do not desire. There is a flow chart to identify when a liberation is right and when it's not:

Posted Image

So even under the SC's own rules this liberation is not right, it's not freeing the region from an invading group, the password was imposed by the native delegate and was being used to protect the region from invaders.

Now that the liberation has passed the password is gone so they can be invaded. Yet for some reason they haven't been destroyed yet.

The resolution is wrong, it undermines the credibility of the Security Council, and it needs to be repealed. It won't be able to be repealed until a large region such as ours supports its repeal, as the GCRs worked together to impose it, then did not follow through with their intended destruction, or are not telling us their real plan because we are not part of their club.

The Conclave shall be composed of an odd number of Arbiters but there shall not be more than seven Arbiters at any one time.

Please, no more than 7 Arbiters.

Why not work to repeal it, even if you are not delegate? You seem to feel very strongly about it. Admittedly, I've been gone for 4 years and only back for a couple of months, but you are the first person I've heard mention this resolution. I was not aware there was concern about it.

Ok, I forgot the limit of 7. I would only nominate a maximum of 5, probably just 3.

Regarding 109, an appeal has been tried but it failed to gain enough votes.

One more round of questions: Have you read, "THE NECESSITY OF CHAOS; ORDER AND DISORDER IN NATIONSTATES"

Do you agree or disagree with the thesis? If so, why or why not?

I have read most of it and I have to say it did change my attitude.

It doesn't fully explain why we don't hold people accountable for acts of war or crimes against the state.

Hypothetically I think it's morally fine to destroy a GCR (if it were physically possible) for the purposes of excitement and the reaction it generates... but people should expect to stand trial for that sort of thing and not be let off merely because they are playing a game.

I think Milograd made the game exciting when he did the terrible thing he did in TSP, which we tried to stop him perpetuating, and I certainly wouldn't rule out helping him recapture TSP in the future... but treason is treason, and that's why he was found guilty.

The game and the communities in it can recover from any crime, but I don't think it's a good idea to kid ourselves that the people committing them were not guilty. If you hurt people's feelings they remember it. People have said mean things to me in TNP and I have said stupid things in TNP. I can forgive people, but it's a lot easier to forgive people if they say they are sorry. This is why I have lingering trepidation over the Empire, it's not that I'm unforgiving or vindictive, it's because I don't recall an apology or a trial. If they violate a region that we truly care about and are unrepentant, then forgiving them is either very stupid or very brave.

I am sad that many players have left the game recently: Unibot and JAL were people that I sometimes considered villains. I don't want anybody to leave the game, no matter how much trouble they've caused, how irritating people find them or how much they've hurt my feelings, I want them to stay or at least come back. It's when we decide that players don't need to answer for their crimes that the law becomes rather meaningless, and that's why I wouldn't miss the conclave if it got abolished.

I find a of the impressions that I get are not shared by others older and wiser than I and perhaps this is a fault that could be rectified by spending more of my time at the University of the EP.

Others who were in the region at the time will have to speak for themselves, but I chose to forgive (or ignore) based on the wisdom of Oscar Wilde, "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much."

Have had a really bad day and didn't think through my last post so... it might not make sense but whatever :)

I can't actually remember what the thesis said, as it was a few months ago I read it.
