![]() Greetings TEP! As many of you may know, I’m Prussia. I have been active in TEP since April of 2013. Let me give you a quick rundown of my career here in NS. In December of 2011, I was using my friends laptop. I was going to google something, and I open up Chrome to see this website called NationStates on his most visited websites. “Hey Mike” I yell, “what is this NationStates website?” He replies “Oh, its this kind of interesting website game where you rule your own nation. You should sign up for it.” “Cool”,I say. During this time, I was reading all I could about Prussia, its rise and fall, history of its rulers and its wars, etc. So I type in the name “Prussia”, to find that name was taken. So, I adopted the name “PrussianEmpire” and have stuck with that nation ever since. I spawned inside The South Pacific, where I became immediately intimidated by the sheer amount of nations there. Quickly after joining NationStates, I got a telegram from this guy, Culture of Life, AKA Christian Democrats, advertising a fairly new User Created Region, Right to Life. So without hesitation, I moved to Right to Life. After joining this region, I signed up for citizenship after waiting 24 hours for my WA application to be accepted, where I jumped head first into the creation of a new Regional Constitution. After learning from notable nations such as Christian Democrats, who is active in the WA part of NationStates and Devoted Deacons, I finally felt like I was ready for prime time. I ran for the Delegacy, which I lost to a friend of mine, Texoma, by one vote. I assumed the role of vice-delegate, whose job was to be on the regional senate. After working for several months, I assumed the role of delegate since my friend, Texoma, became inactive. At this point, the region was home to only 15 or so nations. Winning election after election, I remained delegate. I would remain delegate until December 2nd, after holding the delegacy for 291 days and raising the regional population to an impressive 50 nations. In late September, while handling my World Assembly duties, I received a telegram from a guy named Unibot. After receiving that telegram, my NS career would never be the same. I became a UDL member in Mid-September, but did not actually do any missions until December 2nd, when I finally stopped being delegate. I jumped head first into learning the R/D game and under the supervision of notable players such as Unibot, Mahaj, Cormac, Solm, Sovreignry, and Tim, became fairly competent in the R/D game. However, in late February, frustrated by AMOM’s appointment to Chief of Intelligence, who had not been a member of the UDL until this appointment, I left the UDL to learn more about the R/D game. With that, I joined The Black Hawks. I was with them for about a month and only participated in one mission, acting as a Piler on Warhammer 10K. Because I was not doing anything there, I left them after a month to rejoin the UDL, as Unibot was leaving. I claimed the title of “Unibots last recruit.” Around this time, I joined TEP. I remember bugging Juris to accept my citizenship lol. So I immediately jumped head first into TEP by joining the Magisterium and EPSA. While being a member of EPSA, I was also a member of UDL. After a month of being in EPSA and UDL (joined both around the same time), TEP was being assaulted by GGR with adspam. Working with people such as Heronlord and Babiana, EPSA went and tagged 5 regions allied with GGR. However, during our operation, an FRA member who shall rename nameless, jumped on and off our channel in just a few seconds and immediately told UDL I was raiding, even though EPSA was just enforcing TEP law. Immediately, I began getting yelled at for “raiding” and with that, it was settled that I would leave UDL, remain in EPSA, but still help the UDL out as a EPSA member, as was made legal under the UDL-TEP treaty. However, while working with the UDL, I noticed they were about to assault and liberate a TEP-held region, a clear violation of the treaty. So I informed my higher ranking officers inside EPSA about this and when confronted about it, UDL banned me from #udl for leaking logs. Witnessing TEP’s response to the UDL’s treatment towards me forever changed my attitude of TEP. It went from being just a region I was involved to my home. I still consider TEP to be my home. Over the next few months, I quietly learned the art of being a good delegate by observing Todd and eventually AMOM. I worked hard inside the Magisterium learning the art of the legislation and debate. In July, I had the honor of participating in my first election for Delegate of TEP. I voted for AMOM, who ended up winning and life was good. A few weeks into his delegacy, Babiana became inactive and I replaced him as General of EPSA. Under my supervision, EPSA has become the most active of the Feeder Armies. Between then and present times, not much has changed in my career. I’d like to discuss my flaws below: ![]() Hehe but in all seriousness, here we go. I dislike:
However, I have many good traits that would enable me to be a good delegate, such as:
As Delegate, I would attempt to fix our much neglected foreign affairs. I proposed a cross-gcr alliance, which failed (for now) and currently I am working on a Balder-TEP treaty. If made delegate, I would work to improve and restore relations with GCRs such as Osiris and tighten them with TRR, Balder and other GCRs. I feel that after my time spent inside the Gameplay community, I am the most koala-fied person to fix our Foreign Affairs. So here are my goals if elected Delegate:
I hope you will consider voting for me and I wish my opponents the best. ![]() EDIT: Fixing Formatting Edited by Prussia, Oct 23 2013, 10:54:54 PM.

First of all, nice campaign. I have two more general questions I'd like all the candidates to answer, but I'll keep those to myself till more candidates have threads up. Two things I'd like to ask about your thread in particular: Are you concerned using the region-wide TGs so often will cause more people to block them, ignore them by default, hurting our ability to reach out to them in the future, or maybe even leave the region? Secondly, you referenced your friend Christian Democrats. Can we get an assurance you will not be tempted by him to support any of his bulls.. resolutions.. early? |

Good question: 1) As slow as things can go in NationStates, I feel that sending one TG every two weeks would not turn people off. I personally receive very little TGs, so I always read what TGs I do get, so I feel that a small nation would get fewer than I, so they'd end up reading them. 2) I would simply watch the WA threads for his bills and see where public opinion lies. I will not put myself before TEP. |

You've presented a fairly unilateral presentation of the UDL-TEP incident. Why should TEP work with someone that "clearly violated" the treaty and banned one of its members "rashly"? etc. etc. etc. Or do you admit that there was more to the Nazi bashing raids than "enforcing TEP's laws"? |

Mainly because UDL's much better since the Conclave times. During the Conclave things were...less than ideal. Now, the UDL's gotten its act together again and is worthy of working with again. The EPSA raids against Nazi Regions are exactly as I described them. |

How will you organize your government? What kinds of ministers will you nominate? Who will you appoint as Commissioner and Editor (assuming the news service is created)? What positions will you create within the executive? How will you work with the Magisterium? What changes do you propose for the Conclave? How will you measure the success of your term as Delegate? |

Sorry for delay in response. 1) Not very sure what this is asking. 2) Im not big on Minsters, so maybe one or two of them. I spend enough time on NS to know whats up, so i really wouldn't need them. 3) Hmmm...for commissioner probably Babiana and for editor Bach. 4) None. 5) I'll attempt to keep an eye on threads in the Magisterium and keep doing what I do now, save for the motioning/voting part. 6) Under the current set up, just nominate active players. How ever, im liking the idea of having just one full time Arbiter and just calling for a few jurors when needed. 7) Being able to keep TEP active and fulfilling my campaign goals. Sorry for briefness of post, on my phone. |

Using Hobbes wonderful format, I thought I'd answer the same issues. Osiris - As a fellow GCR, naturally we should strive to improve our relations with them. They have some very intelligent people there, such as Detective Figs (Asta) and Cormac, who I respect enough to at least want to work with them. Asta is a reasonable person, which I know first hand since she taught me a fair amount about the Gameplay World and it would be easy enough to have *some* sort of a legal relationship with them. Lazarus- At this point, I'm just observing, waiting for something to happen that would turn me off. As I expressed in the NS GP forums, the recent change in theme could be good for the region and I hope that it revitalizes the region. Gatesville- I still do not like GV one bit at all. TEP's Foreign Affairs- Gotta fix them. I will initially go around proposing simply treaties with non-treatied GCRs at first and continue to talk to their Head of FA's to help improve our relations. Being on good terms with most GCR FA heads, I should be able to get reasonable treaties. |

Can you speak a bit more about your strong Right to Life feelings? Abortion is a divisive issue. Do you respect people who choose choice? On the lighter side, Cardinals or Red Sox? |

I don't support abortion, but ultimately I'm not in favor for banning it. If people want to make the decision, then they have the right to do so. I understand the arguments used by pro choice activists, so yeah, I do respect them. I do not have to agree with someone to respect them. Right to Life was my first region and naturally it'll hold a special place in my heart. However, I consider TEP my home and am fully dedicated to the region. I quit RTL army and lost my voting rights for delegate in RTL because I thought it was more Important to have my wa in TEP. Cardinals. Even though I was raised during the height of the Astro-Cardinal rivalry, I am a NL fan and will always choose the NL team over a AL team, unless it's the Astros or Rangers playing. |

Why with Lazarus are you "waiting for something to happen that would turn [you] off", while with Osiris, you believe "we should strive to improve our relations with them"? Why should we be naturally inclined to want to strive to improve relations with Osiris on one hand, while on the other hand, be naturally inclined to be wary of Lazarus's change of direction? Seems to me, Osiris is the region whose internal support for the government's regime is waning (with the loss of endorsements) -- plus no vote was taken to dissolve the constitution; Meanwhile, Lazarus voted for the socialist theme. |

For Lazarus, i simply meant until they do something stupid , I shall still like them. I am not weary of this change and as i posted in multiple places, i am eager to see how this revitalizes the region. It's natural because as a fellow GCR, what affects them effects the rest of us. I don't support the way Osiris dissolved the constition, which I posted on #osiris and on the GP forums, but whats done is done and we just need to accept it and move on. Asta and Co. Is the best bet to keeping the region stable and besides, maybe TEP could exert some of influence to help Republicanize the government over there. |

How would you describe you, philosophically (ideologically etc.) in NS? What do you believe in.. in regards to the relations between regions (are their interregional rules?) and the relations to the individual and the region (individualism v. communitarianism) etc. etc. etc. I want to know more about you as a thinker. Thanks. |

Hmmm. I'd describe myself as Defender-leaning Regionalist Leaning NSer. While there are not formal "rules", I believe there are some rules of common courtesy, like not posting negative stuff about them on the NS GP forums, attempting to talk to heads of the region and attempting to find a solution prior to cutting ties, that sort of stuff. This last one's a bit tricky. Ultimately, its up to the people to decide whether or not they wish to join the government or not, but I believe that people should still have the right to do what they please to a certain extent. However, if people do not wish to, then they should not feel obligated to do it if they do not want to. Sorry if these answers were a bit odd. Quite frankly, I wasn't too sure what the third one was asking. |

Let's talk about some practical stuff -- the WFE and RMB. Currently, ours is stale. What will you do differently if you become Delegate? Lots of nations in the region engage only at this level. What will you do to make the WFE and RMB fun and interesting?

I remember always liking how Todd had the WFE - with the big TEP letters, so I might try and recreate that, it was an eye catcher and made TEP unique from other regions which had the usual posting of information only. For RMB, we could have a weekly topic and discuss it on the rmb as an attempt to raise activity there, but the best thing for an rmb is to have multiple nations posting often. That activity leads for others to join in, so I would post a heck of a lot more if elected than I currently do to attempt to get that rmb activity up. |

I will solely be basing my vote on the answers to these questions, and mainly basing my vote on who has the guts to actually say something of significance (would you expect anything different from me)? Do you think some of the recent changes in TEP has been inspired by the recent(ish) successes or failures in any other regions? If so do you think that is wise? If not do you think there is a region we could learn a lesson from (that we maybe haven't, or maybe we haven't needed to yet)? The nine major game-created regions (5 Pacifics, 3 Revival Sinkers, and TRR) are stranded on an island. We collectively decide there is enough food for 8 of our communities to survive until we expect to rescued by the holy [Violet], and we decide we will have to vote a region off the island (and push them into the ocean full of sharks :P). Who do you think would be voted off? Who do you think should be voted off, if we had to. What is the single biggest threat or problem The East Pacific will or is likely to face in the next year (can be internal or external)? As delegate, what would you do about it? |
