Presidential Election Ends In Zennyist Win

Our Republic's 6th Presidential election opened on May 1st. In the most crowded field yet, 5 different tickets made their bid for the Presidency, all with very differing platforms and ideas. Raider constitutionalist Vichtander, Zennyist & RP-activist Romochka, leftist-unity candidate Jacob Grox, and Christian Communist Party Chairman Dmitry Konstantinov all ran for the Presidency against incumbent Zenny Winter. Some of the key issues during the election were how to maintain or grow our Republic's current population, how to better organize our social integration efforts, the Lazarus conflict, and how to restructure our growing role play community. Turnout dropped from the previous Presidential election, from 47 voters in February's Presidential election, to a sizeable 36 voters. The Great Leader Zenny Winter maintained a lead throughout the time polls were opened, with Socialist Party candidate Jacob Grox posing the most serious challenge to her campaign. A little over a week prior to elections opening, a multi-party merger of the Democratic Action Front, National Zennyist Party, One Country Party, and Progressive Marxist Party formed the newly-founded United Zennyist Front. In her speech to the Democratic Action Front on its dissolution, former Party Chairwoman Zenny said the following "As with all other areas of our region, we much learn to adapt to ever-changing circumstances to meet the challenges our region faces, that is the Zennyist way. We must adapt ourselves to continue our bright revolution, lest we become apathetic and allow it to slip through our fingers."

This newly found united front for Zennyist principles has proved effective in the organization of their base of support, proving vital in Zenny's 58% re-election as President, her 3rd term in office. Even as our Great Leader remains the most beloved figure of the hundreds whom inhabit our Republic, she has publicly stated that this will be her final consecutive term in office, wishing to return to legislative and ministry work as a new generation of leaders brought up under her loving care takes the reigns.

Legislative Activity of the Last 90 Days

Posted Image

The People's Democratic Assembly has been busy for the last 90 days, putting forth and passing plenty of legislation. In the February-April term, five treaties were passed, the Treaty of Fife with British Isles, the Treaty of Aurora with Albion, the Treaty of Anslow with United Kingdom, the Treaty of Gdansk with The United Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Treaty of Vlore with The Kingdom of Great Britain, and the Arnhelm Declaration of Recruitment Standards. The passing of these treaties has strengthened TCBs international ties and will take on a much larger role in the future in carrying out foreign and military policy.

In the April-June term so far, a flurry of legislation has been proposed and debated. Since the beginning of April, TCB has seen several bills pass, including the Elections Act, Persona Non Grata Act, Citizenship Act, and most notably, the new Constitution of The Communist Bloc. Since January, citizens of The Communist Bloc have been working on a new Constitution, refining it, polishing it, and making it more concise. In early April, The Communist Bloc's Assembly Chairperson, Phazon, headed up the project, working on implementing changes and making it more concise. The new Constitution was brought to vote in the Assembly Council in mid-May, passing with a unanimous 6-0 vote. Despite the new Constitution passing, work on this project was not done yet, as bills on Elections and Citizenship were still to follow. The Elections Act has passed, as has the Citizenship Act.

As well as the bills passed, the Assembly Chairperson has been hard at work establishing and formalizing new procedures in the People's Democratic Assembly, including procedures for non-binding motions, standardizing bill naming formats, and mid-vote amendments. Work is currently underway on an official decorum for the Assembly, to keep discussion and debate civil and productive.

  • Our Republic now stands at 6th in total WA Delegate endorsements, moving past Europeia and The South Pacific on May 26th. With over 300 endorsements, our Delegate & Vice President Westnesia now stands as one of the most largest and most important votes in the World Assembly. This comes as we quickly approach 1,400 nations, with 23% growth during the last 30 days.

  • A special by-election was run by our Republic during mid-May to fill the vacant seats of our sadly departed comrade ASSR and defector Volkstrad. Jacob Grox (SPCB) and Navbot (UZF) finished at the top of the people's choices, earning them the honor of remaining on the Council for the remainder of this term.

  • On May 28th, the Great Leader Zenny Winter announced that Dmitry Konstantinov would be removed as Minister of Foreign Affairs. This was due to a lack of progress in the Ministry, a fact that the former Minister acknowledged and apologized for due to RL concerns. Brunhilde Winter has been appointed to the position. In an address to the region on the state of Foreign Affairs, she listed all the problems the Ministry faces from problems in the diplomatic corp program to a lack of representation in some GCRs. She then went on to list detailed solutions to these problems, from overhauling the entire diplomatic program to tripling our efforts in GCR outreach.

  • Praising him for his constant efforts in organization and activity in his roles as Chair of the Assembly Council and Chief Justice of the People's Court, our Sun of the Revolution, the Dear General Zenny said the following about comrade Phazon:
"Comrade Phazon does everything he can to solve any problem I am concerned with. No one has equaled him in solving problems for the well being of the people and the acceleration of our Revolution's progress. He is loyal and devoted to the Republic and its citizens. I can rest easy knowing that all the problems in my mind are already being dealt with under his continued leadership of the Legislative and Judicial."

  • The Ministry of Immigration began in early May a manual recruitment program as apart of a growing push to either maintain of grow our current massive numbers. As the Republic quickly approached 1,400 nations the Ministry is committed to becoming more aggressive as sources of new funds for recruitment become available and we train a complete team of recruiters.

  • After many weeks of consideration and talking with users all over the Bloc, Culture Minister Dareth Knoxon has revived plans to produce a radio program for the Republic. 191.7 CB's first program is scheduled to release soon. Original plans were scrapped due to last-minute withdrawals.

Zennyist Socialism Is Thriving: A Final Address
The following is a final address from the Great Leader Zenny as her term comes to a close on August 7th after Presidential elections.

Posted Image

Nearing one year since our great revolution began and the creation of our great ideology, our Republic continues to move forward, undaunted by the challenges and struggle we face as a newer region. Rapid development in culture, information, and defense continues as we gain allies and forge strong bonds with our overseas partners. Our military in reliable and friendly hands, all branches of government creating new and more efficient internal procedure, a cabinet more productive than ever before. All this thanks to the work & faith of the people, always loyal to Zennyism and its principles.

As I near the end of my time as President of our Glorious Republic, I can stand proud of what we have done here. We have created a very unique region that has led the way for many other regions to adopt similar practices, programs, and attitudes. It was only a short year ago that many told me that we would not ever amount to anything significant, however time and hard work has proven me right in my strong faith in the collective strength of our people and their firm resolve never to cease pushing forward regional unity, development, and strength, all under the shining banner of Zennyism.

Even with so many accomplishments in the first 20 months of our history, we must continue to raise the standards of our region and become increasingly organized. While I am rarely content with my work as I always feel I can do better, I am very pleased with the condition in which I am passing on this post. The people are happier than ever with their democratically-elected government and the work that they tirelessly do for them. They can hold their heads high, knowing that the Bloc stands at the very top of the world, stronger and more prosperous as each day goes by, surrounded by people that they can call their friends & comrades.

While it is always difficult to leave a job you feel is unfinished, I have felt for some time now that it is time for the next generation of TCB to take the reigns and forge an even brighter future. The next President will be the first who was not in the original 5 Founding Members, and I take great pride in knowing that this generation grew up without the same problems and obstacles that we faced. I fully embrace and wish the best to the next administration as TCB enters what I hope to be an incredibly interesting and prosperous time in our history. My work is not over till August 7th, however I am already making sure that the next Leader of our Republic will be given a very smooth transition into power once elected. I look forward to working with the new team whomever they may be and working as hard as I can to please the next Dear Leader whos happiness and contentment shall be my greatest goal and reward.

I am proud of what we have done, and I think we are going to be doing a lot more. Our Bloc's potential is so great and we have so, so many talented individuals amongst us. It is incredibly humbling to have been allowed this great privilege to lead the region for so long with such broad support and affection from the people, the Cabinet, my wife, and my family. The Communist Bloc is a democratic socialist paradise for hundreds of people, and will remain so for a very long time. Our red flag will flutter for many years to come, comrades.

The state visits between the The Communist Bloc and Europeia went well as both sides grew closer together as a result of the visits. The visits helped answer some questions about the SOFA agreement that recently came into being to create the new TCB-Europeia military partnership. To go along with these visits, the two regions hosted games to help its members become acquainted with one another. We want to thank our visitors from Europeia for stopping by. We hope that we can continue our friendship.

Statement Regarding the SCOTUS ruling;

Posted Image

On June 26th, 2015 the Supreme Court of the United States made a ruling that literally changed history. While The Communist Bloc is not entirely made up of, or even majorly made up of, people from the United States, there are a great number of us in this community that advocate for the LGBT+ community. There are also more than a few of us that are members of the community by fact that we are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, and/or all areas included in the descriptor, including supporters of the community. So we were quite happy when our fellow persons were finally given the right to marry whom they love. The Communist Bloc has always been a quite open community when it comes to accepting people from various walks of life and we advocate camaraderie in our culture through friendliness and compassion for each other. Depending on where you live this may seem like old news, and it did happen in June, but regardless it is well worth remembering this piece of history and recognizing what it means for your fellow person, if not for yourself.

With Love,

Jone Winter

Following months of revolutionary struggle and the strong determination of the people to form the People's Republic of The Communist Bloc into a more equal and united socialist front. It was decided that the People and the Party wanted and were deserving of a new space to more truly realize their limitless creativity and achieve their long-term aspirations. These efforts culminated on January 8, 2016 with the unveiling of TCBs new forum, bloc.red, which was created and designed by comrade Josh Conure over the course of a few weeks. This new board allows the people of the region significantly more customisation and is more user friendly, with many complimenting both the look and ease of use. The previous forum will be used solely for historical purposes to look back upon our people's great socialist achievements and revolutionary struggle.

After a free and fair election, nobody was left surprised to learn that comrade Josh Conure had received the necessary mandate from the Workers' Party, to form the next administration. General Secretary Conure was widely supported by the Party prior to his decision to run in the election, having achieved respect from the people for his dedication and loyalty to the People's Republic, and tireless efforts in reforming the region and installing the new forum. Conure ran unopposed, receiving 79% of the vote, with 21% of the electorate choosing a 'None of the Above' option.

As part of his new administration, Conure has adopted a new flag for the region, with symbolism of the September Revolution which still burns strong in the hearts of the workers. The new General Secretary was quick to promise a fruitful term stating "Not only am I eager about my administration, but I am also eager about benefits that the Bloc will gain very soon." Conure appointed Colonel Aleksandr Severin as the Supreme Justice, and awaits the results of the Central Committee elections prior to making further appointments. With the overwhelming support, respect, and admiration of the people and their party, the region is extremely optimistic of this coming term.

The People's Revolutionary Armed Forces has experienced a string of successes and victories, advancing our region's revolutionary cause and bringing honour and glory to the Party. After the official repeal of the Status of Forces Agreement with the Republic of Europeia, the PRAF saw a spike in recruitment and activity under native leadership, contributing significantly to multi-regional operations such as the legitimate occupation of St. Abbaddon. Filled with pride knowing that they serve the People's Republic and advance our interests worldwide, our brave soldiers have conducted operations every single day for the entire month of January, setting a very high bar for the future of our armed forces and indeed military partners.

Working closely with military forces from The Land of Kings and Emperors, Balder, Europeia, The Black Hawks and others, the PRAF took part in the largest occupation in NationStates history on January 16-18th occupying St. Abbaddon, a well established interregional battleground. Nearly 200 nations took part in the occupation, of which the People's Republic contributed 2 commissioned officers, 6 enlisted soldiers and 2 volunteer militiamen. The men and women of the PRAF were honored to recieve both the Ribbon of St. Abbaddon made by the coalition leaders of the operation as well as a special medal created for the respected participants of the operation.

Trabardia Delivers State of the Bloc Address
By Vlad Schpilkes, Minister of Intelligence and Member of the Central Committee

After being elected with a small majority in the runoff election in January, General Secretary Trabardia issued his State of the Bloc Speech. He spoke of broad changes in the functioning of Ministries, and the continuation policies that were already working.

The speech was received well by the Citizens and the Central Committee. The Central Committee voted unanimously to approve the speech. The Members of the CC were pleased that the Executive was on board with reforming the way the Premier is determined.

Many of the goals outlined in the speech are currently in the process of being fulfilled, while other goals await implementation. The full text of the speech can be found below:

“Ms. Premier, Members of the Central Committee, fellow Citizens of the Communist Bloc,

This region is and always have been progressive. Since our founding by Kovatsk in 2014, we have always been seeking new ways to build upon our region, improve the efficiency of our government, and make sure that the region is united in opposition to fascism. The fact that the region is ever-changing is demonstrated when you notice that none of the original “Founding Five” are no longer active. The new will be replaced by the old, and it is what the region has been built on. The Communist Bloc is in a constant state of change and reform, and my Administration is just one among the many leaders that will influence the largest leftist region in the world over the next few years. Anyone who believes that we can rely on the continued activity of those who run our region right now for an extended period of time is wrong. This speech will reflect the ever-growing need for integration, communication, and planning across every level of government.

With that said, I would like to present to you now the goals that my Administration and I have set for the region in the coming two months:

  • The region will see a population increase of over one hundred nations, with our secondary goal being at over 1,000 nations. This increase in recruitment will be supplied by an upcoming stamp donation competition organized by the Ministry of Domestic Affairs.
  • The processing of citizenship applications will be at a much faster rate while still maintaining the policy of holding during elections.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, will publish and distribute two Foreign Updates during the term (one for January, one for February) to inform our allies of regional happenings.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will successfully negotiate the joining of at least one interregional leftist alliance.
  • The Ministry of Information will continue to publish a daily news summary in the News and Announcements forum for all to see. An additional Saturday news update that is more in-depth, featuring opinion articles, will be published every Saturday.
  • The Ministry of Information will close inactive news outlets as well as reaching out to former publishers of news outlets in an effort to reopen formerly closed outlets.
  • The Ministry of Culture will be expanding its activities into multiplayer games, and a public opinion poll has already been posted in the Ministry’s forum.
  • The Ministry of Culture will support the Nation RP and develop guides to help those new to roleplaying post and start roleplays themselves. The MoC will also be helping with developing the upcoming International Summit.
  • The Ministry of Intelligence will be taking down fascist regions from the inside, weakening the ability of those fascists to spread their influence across NationStates.
  • The Ministry of Defense will be training new PRAF soldiers and conducting operations to defeat fascists on the battlefield whenever possible.

In addition to the goals that the Ministries of the Executive Branch have set for themselves, the Administration has several key legislative goals for this term:

  • Amend the Constitution to hand over the responsibility of selecting a Premier to the Central Committee following every CC election.
  • Amend the Line of Succession Act 2018.
  • Amend several executive orders to clarify and remove excessively bureaucratic elements in the executive government.
  • ...and more!

Lastly, to end this speech, I’d like to remind you all of the core idea I promoted in my Inaugural Address: you all are members of the government, and you have more power in this position than you will ever have as a normal citizen to affect the future of the region and how its future leaders look upon the past. Use your position to the fullest; let’s make this an efficient 60 days.

Long Live the Revolution!
Long Live the People’s Republic!
Long Live the Bloc!”

Newunfoundland Dissolves into Anarchy after Embargo by PRC, Nexit
By Trabardia, General Secretary - Featured in the Saturday News

This is breaking news, from the Ministry of Information headquarters in the heart of the Communist Bloc.

The electorate of Newunfoundland passed a referendum last week to sever all ties with the Communist Bloc, as citizens and their government grew increasingly dissatisfied with the globalist tendencies of the People’s Roleplay Council (PRC) and its laws. Almost all voters voted to leave the Bloc, with the “Leave” option resulting in 98.003% of the vote -- more than two billion people.

While the politicians of Newunfoundland campaigned and argued for either side, the international representatives at the People’s Roleplay Council debated on a resolution to embargo the islands following their renunciation of the Manifesto of Sentient Rights Act 2017 -- specifically clause (5), which gives all sentient entities the rights covered under the Act.

The embargo was enforced by the four nations of Radicalania, Stigae, Trabardia, and Ubertas with aircraft and navy vessels surrounding the island. The blockade was resisted by the Newunfoundland Navy and civilian vessels.

Around five days into the embargo, an unusually powerful earthquake was felt for 10 minutes across most of the islands of Newunfoundland. An hour later, the largest volcano in the country erupted in its biggest eruption in 2 million years. The ash cloud was enormous, and most of the embargo forces escaped the destruction. However, the loss of multiple naval vessels was reported by several nations participating in the embargo.

The Ministry of Information remembers these brave soldiers that fought for their country, no matter the cause, and sought for peace and prosperity for all in the Bloc.

TCB severs ties with the USSD
By Nathaniel Penrose, Minister of Domestic Affairs

As much of the world knows, the People’s Republic of The Communist Bloc is committed to the extrication of the cancers of Fascism and Capitalism from the NationStates community. Noting this, it was not surprise when the Executive Cabinet wanted to take action against the region known as the United Soviet Socialist Dictatorship when the Minister of Foreign Affairs (hereafter MoFA), informed us that their leader had fascist ties. Although slightly skeptical at first, after reviewing the evidence (which was in the form of a discord chat between USSD founder Vetelo and the founder of Kaissereich), given to MoFA by members of other leftist regions, we knew that action needed to be taken. Our desire to act quickly came as a result of our regional laws, which mandates the closure of our embassies and the termination of diplomacy of any fascist aligned nation. Due to the Vetelo’s de facto autocratic control of the region and his seemingly Stalinist cult of personality we deemed it fair to judge the region itself as fascist rather than just him.

Subversive efforts led by General Secretary Trabardia took place as a result on Wednesday, January 31st. These efforts mainly consisted of creating an API telegram system that would forewarn new USSD members of their leader’s ties, and releasing the evidence to the TCB, USSD, and the allies of the USSD. At 1800 Bloc Time, the members of the Executive Cabinet gathered and triggered the termination of our embassy with the USSD (executed by WAD Micha), the activation of the API system (also executed by WAD Micha), and the sending of the evidence to the USSD and their allies (executed by Minister of Culture Tarrin Kael). Further subversive activity included spreading awareness and debating the merit of the evidence on the USSD RMB (from which we are now banned). On the home front, Minister of Domestic Affairs Nathaniel Penrose instituted new immigration policies regarding citizenship applicants emigrating from the USSD, and border policing efforts for the safety and security of the People’s Republic. Our collective efforts have resulted in the Executive Cabinet being declared “enemies of the state” by Vetelo, and seemingly forced him into a state of paranoia. While at the moment our actions seem vindicated, should new evidence arise pointing to Vetelo’s innocence we would immediately apologize and seek to repair our diplomacy.

Elections, Elections, Elections: General Secretary, PRC, and Tribunal Elections held Back-To-Back
By Lewis Flood, Minister of Information

General Secretary
After a close first round, and an even closer runoff, Trabardia has been elected as the new General Secretary of the Communist Bloc. He has announced his new cabinet, along with giving his inaugural speech.

Peoples’ Roleplay Council
The election to the People’s Roleplay Council has concluded, with every candidate winning a participation medal seat! The elected members are Tarrin Kael, Lewis Flood, Vlad Schpilkes, Martyn Kiryu, and An Xiu.

Peoples’ Tribunal
The people have spoken! (in a confirmation vote) and the new People's Tribunal has been elected. The new sitting members will hear important civil and criminal cases over the coming months, and will help shape the region’s legal future.

Along with the listed elections, the Central Committee confirmed Marcella Cheval as the new Premier, and the PRC confirmed Tarrin Kael as President.

First International Summit Begins
By Trabardia, General Secretary - Featured in the Saturday News

Ministry of Information Headquarters, The Communist Bloc - Live from the MoI headquarters, we bring you the news on the upcoming First International Bloc Summit, where the official nomination period for the Summit’s host city has begun.

The International Summit was first announced to the nations of the Bloc and their representatives in the People’s Roleplay Council yesterday via a message from Mikhail Andrews, President of Trabardia and General Secretary of the Communist Bloc. All nations have been invited to participate in the Summit, regardless of past diplomatic conflicts or wars.

The first phase of the Summit, picking a host city, is already underway. Nations may nominate a city within their borders to become the official Host City after providing background on its culture, history, and transportation methods. After the nomination and campaigning period, a regional poll will be held to determine the winner.

The second phase of the International Summit is the creation of an agenda. International representatives will gather in the host city to create an agenda for the Summit to discuss over the course of the event. Following this, the representatives with discuss the ideas set on the agenda, table any useless discussions, and go forward with further discussing ideas that could be made into legislation.

This leads us into the second-to-last phase, where the representatives of the Summit will take the most important issues discussed and turn them into pieces of legislation to send to the People’s Roleplay Council to debate. Lastly, the host nation will display the host city’s culture in a tour of the city’s landmarks.

Stamp Competition
By Trabardia, General Secretary

Following the release of his opening statement, Minister of Domestic Affairs Nathaniel Penrose announced a new telegram stamp drive/competition to boost the regional population. In addition, to this competition, the Minister posted a revised Stamp Donation Guide. Throughout the term, the Ministry of Domestic Affairs is expected to expand into manual recruitment as well.

The recent recruitment efforts are largely a result of the Trabardia Administration’s aggressive stance on gaining and integrating new nations. In the State of the Bloc Address (see first article), the General Secretary firmly stated that the region would see a 100-nation population increase at the least.

  • Ministry of Information starts MoI Daily News

Special Thanks

Comrades abroad,

I wanted to take this time to thank you for taking your time to read up on our regional happenings. It is my hope that in the coming months, the relationship between our regions will flourish into something greater, where we share a common goal. Lastly, I’d like to thank the following people for contributing to the production of this Administration’s first Foreign Update: Nathaniel Penrose, Vlad Schpilkes, and Lewis Flood. This update certainly wouldn’t be possible without their work.

Thank you,

General Secretary
