The Atlaesian Associated Press Report #1 "All the news that's fit to print or broadcast, whichever you choose." Establishment of the Associated Press After a long and bitter rivalry between many news outlets, an organization made up of more than 300 credible news outlets, newspapers, news websites, and public radio news has been established to bring the Atlaesian reader (and readers outside of the Atlae Isles). There have been concerns that such a news organization would violate antitrust laws in The Atlae Isles, however, a preemptive advisory ruling by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Commerce have decided that such an organization would not be recommended to be prosecuted. The Atlaesian government has decided not to pursue the case and procede to the Courts. The Associated Press is a weekly meeting deciding on the news and how to interpret it. After the Associated Press decides on the facts, the news organizations go out broadcasting the way they choose. The Associated Press would report its findings to the rest of the East Pacific. Such an organization has been controversial, and not just by the government. "I don't want some elitists deciding the news! I don't want to be spoon-fed!" says residential farmer Elliot Zhu. Elliot Zhu and opponents of the establishment of the Associated Press believe that the Associated Press would have too much influence on media and could be biased and display propaganda. These opponents have created many news sites to display "alternate news," or news that the Associated Press would not cover because "it's in the hands of the government, would want to keep it secret." However, proponents of the Associated Press believe that it is necessary. "We have US Mexregiona doing 'The Atlantian Alms', we have 'Bai Lung Central News,' and many many other news networks." says Royal Press Secretary Victor Mernste, head of the new organization. "Our way is a compromise: our news networks get to keep independent, and we can tell the rest of the East Pacific what's going on in the Atlae Isles." Regardless of the debates surrounding the establishment of the Associated Press, it would be available at www.theassocpress.org.atcaek. Jane Lupta reporting from The Exeter Gazette. The Atlaesian Associated Press Report #2 "All the news that's fit to print or broadcast, whichever you choose." Holiday Celebrations Disrupted by Bad Weather When rain started falling on the Winter's Festival Parade in the Atlae Isles City, the more than 20,000 parade goers were briefly distracted from holiday festivities. The Winter's Festival is a lunar holiday in North Atlae Isles, and once traditionally considered to be the start of the year. In it, many people parade, wearing light blue and white to symbolize the snow. However, instead of the snow falling on the parade, rain and sleet bombarded the parade-goers, who were disappointed by the weather. "I don't have anything against the rain," exclaims parade-goer Thomas Lee. "It's just with the rain, we can't launch the fireworks." The fireworks show that Thomas Lee and other parade-goers were waiting for had to be rescheduled to better weather, but some supporters remain optimistic. "It doesn't matter about the fireworks, and all the showy display," says another parade-goer Sarah Deng. "It has to do with remembering the cultural heritage of the Atlae Isles, and spending time with your family." Paul Leibowitz reporting from The Atlaerskoiy Sentinel. New Leadership in Neighboring Country The Second Republic of Tretrid is a large and influential country in Atlantia, and in the rest of the East Pacific. It sits in the Magisterium in the East Pacific's government, along with the Atlae Isles, and sits as a member of the SEPC, or Southeast Pacific Coalition, of which the Atlae Isles is considering joining. After the Annual Elections on January 1, Domestic Minister James Stevenson will be the next Prime Minister, succeeding the incumbent Prime Minister Adam Wilson, of which term limits forbade him to run. James Stevenson, who is expected to be more critical of the Atlae Isles, will be inaugurated in February. We have not received word of what Prime Minister Adam Wilson would do after he leaves office, but anonymous sources tell the Associated Press that he may be seeking public office after his term ends. Margaret Kimbra reporting from The Marsepolis Tribune. Edited by Atlae, May 19 2017, 12:05:30 AM.

The Atlaesian Associated Press Report #3 "All the news that's fit to print or broadcast, whichever you choose." Treaty of Aura Signed! The Treaty of Aura, held in the nation of Emberwood Coast, is the peace negotiation between the SEPC and the Fire Pact in the Four Day's War. The Atlae Isles was involved as a neutral party declaring war on the Fire Pact due to national security concerns. Prime Minister Stephen J. Markson has signed the Treaty of Aura, after making it clear that the Atlae Isles would not pay the fine issued to SEPC and Fire Pact members. This comes to a head after the Atlae Isles Foreign Ministry announced its intentions to join the SEPC, minutes before Markson's signature was on the treaty. "We need to preserve democracy throughout Urth, and we in the Atlae Isles do not intend to clash with the Fire Pact as with the Four Day's War," says Minister of Foreign Affairs Kyle Richards in a press conference. "As Tretrid and Mexregiona, and many of our allies are in the SEPC, we believe it is necessary to join the SEPC to preserve those relationships." This is expected to alienate members of the Fire Pact, notably Asendavia, which the Atlae Isles has been working hard to establish relationships with after the Four Day's War. The admission process is expected to be long, with members declaring that they would vote for, and some declaring to vote against. The decision to join the SEPC so soon after the Treaty of Aura will certainly change regional politics. Mikhail Markowska reporting from Public Radio Service. Doomsday in Mexregiona The nation of Mexregiona has declared doomsday today, Feb 17. Currently, there were riots in the streets of Mexregiona, and there have been unconfirmed reports of Tuvalt missile silos hitting Mexregionan cities, damaging Dropdatderp, Civilmagna, Archopolis, Insulmin City, and Flucivil. But again, these reports have been unconfirmed, in which case there would be another solution to the bright flashes. The bright flashes may be from fireworks, or lights from a military conflict. There also happens to be a bridge that was damaged by severe storms, which were indicated by strangely premature weather and reportedly Pax Frute sized hailstones. The vehicles and pedestrians were transported off the bridge safely, but not before a massive traffic jam built up. But this remains to be a strange evening. Julie Pace reporting from The Atlaerskoiy Leader. Edited by Atlae, May 19 2017, 12:06:17 AM.

The Atlaesian Associated Press Report #4 "All the news that's fit to print or broadcast, whichever you choose." The Atlae Isles officially joins the SEPC The Atlae Isles has officially joined the SEPC. Now what? We sat down with Minister of Foreign Affairs Kyle Richards to find out. Ethan Smith: Thank you for letting me interview. Kyle Richards: You're welcome. Ethan Smith: So, what impact do you believe entering the SEPC will have? Kyle Richards: We already have great relations with the SEPC members, and we have a military pact with them now. The only bad thing is that we jeopardize relations with Asendavia and Celannica, but I will strive to make sure there is peace. I do not want another Four Day's War on my hands. Ethan Smith: The Atlaesian military can probably protect itself from enemies. Why does it need the SEPC? Kyle Richards: Oh, there have been rumors that Pax will take over the world, but that's unfounded. Right now, we're doing it because there are issues in the world that should be fixed, and we want to be a part of that. Also, it's better on me. I'm sick of Maya Jaxacyl running up to me all the time with more expansion plans. Ethan Smith: Speaking of Maya Jaxacyl, what expansion plan has she been thinking of now? Kyle Richards: It's unwise to start more conquests before we stabilize one area. Right now, she's proposed sending surveyors to unsettled islands near Gondwana in hopes of establishing a port. We're considering it right now. Ethan Smith reporting from AAN News. Disappearances The doomsday in Mexregiona, on 2/17/17, seems to have come true. Before the night closed, Mexregionan cities were still shining. Suddenly, a blanket that resembled a blackout swept across the nation. Unlike the phenomena that happened on Northwest Cascade, where soldiers were suddenly recalled after peasant uprisings burned the countryside of Northwest Cascade, observed the barren land and countryside of what was Northwest Cascade, all of the buildings in Mexregiona are still there. However, for some reason, all Mexregionan citizens have suddenly frozen in time, and sporadically moved for a few hours before freezing again. The Atlaesian embassy in Dropdatderp recommends that all Atlaesian citizens return to the Atlae Isles, given there is no guarantee that they could be safe in Mexregiona. What's frightening is, that this phenomenon that happened in Cascade has spread to US Mexregiona. Who knows which country in TEP it could strike next? This has been observed for many years, but there is still no perfect prediction for who will be the next victim. Prussia, a nation on Southern Atlantia, has been said to have ceased activity over a year ago, and yet has not moved from the map, its roles all filled like the supernatural steering ghost ships. Recently, over a week ago, Prussia has regained its footing, but we were not able to contact Prussia. Even closer to home, Haaviland, a nation very close to us, possibly was a victim to this. Some claim their government collapsed, leaving them vulnerable to a Tretridian annexation. But all Tretridian troops mobilizing have been told to demobilize, for strange and classified reasons. In fact, many of the Atlae Isles' neighbors have seemed to exhibit this behavior. Stranger yet, we don't know how this works. Lights are on, and suddenly poof! It's gone. Maybe some strange work of time? Perhaps a quirk in some theoretical thing called the fourth wall? Very quick zombie invasion? The recent trends show that this shadow effect could linger over Northern Atlantia. Who's next? Tretrid? Maybe even us? Lauren Sotonaka reporting from ANS NewsHour. The Atlaesian Associated Press Report #5 "All the news that's fit to print or broadcast, whichever you choose." Appeal for Top Prisoner Denied William Eresug, a maximum-security prisoner from the Atlae Isles imprisoned for "Bribery, Corruption, Attempting to make a pyramid scheme, Extortion, 2 counts of Espionage, Spying for a foreign and hostile nation, multiple instances of Hacking, possessing an illegal firearm, attempting to flee arrest, two counts of Embezzling, stealing a tank, and resisting arrest" has been denied appeal to the Superior Courts. William Eresug has been imprisoned in the Staynish "Detention Islands" as a test case to see if the human rights in those islands were tolerable, as to send more prisoners at a later date. His defense lawyers claim that Detention Island is a prison fit for murderers, not for a person like Eresug, and that there have been allegations of human rights violations. The Superior Courts have denied his appeal, so William Eresug will have to stay in that prison. John Willey reporting from The Marsepolis Times. Economic Figures The Atlaesian government has compiled a list of statistics for the economy and business. According to the WA Census Bureau, the Atlae Isles' economy is "100/100," and its economic output is 277 Trillion SMU's. Employment, unfortunately, is 49%. More information can be found on nationstates.net.at.caek/watrend/the_atlae_isles. However, as the fact that the WA doesn't recognize "caek" as the true spelling of the word, the TEP doesn't recognize their stats. Since we look at it differently, we have a free converter! Just go onto the associated press' website, and we'll crunch the numbers for you. Jill Bripton reporting from Cable News Service. Edited by Atlae, May 19 2017, 12:06:57 AM.

The Atlaesian Associated Press Report #6 "All the news that's fit to print or broadcast, whichever you choose." War Fever! The New American Republic encroached dangerously close to war this month. Looking for missing flight 390, NAR officials searched and violated Adumara's sovereignty. Now, why does this matter? Adumara is part of the SEPC, so the SEPC retaliated. The SEPC Security Council, which Atlae was a part of because one of the members was absent, opted not to declare war by a 3-1 vote, but decided to send an ultimatum to NAR. However, the deadline, May 16, passed, without response. No one knows what's going on. Could this end in war? We'll keep you updated. Jocelyn Kennedy reporting from The Independent Observer. Assassination Attempt The leader of Stratarin General Secretary Drugov was almost assassinated yesterday. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the dictatorial and previous General Secretary's assassination and Drugov's ascension to power, a lone assassin attempted to kill Drugov during a military parade. Unfortunately for the unidentified assassin, he was caught and killed by Major Dragomirov before his bullet could hit Drugov, who was keeping security at the event. General Secretary Drugov appeared to be shaken, but assured others that he had suffered worse in the military, and that he was glad no one else was injured. An investigation is underway, and we'll keep you updated. Jill Bripton reporting from Marsepolis Explorer. Edited by Atlae, May 19 2017, 05:40:30 PM.

Well, we can't tell you who to vote for, but we can tell you who's running. List of Candidates These are the candidates that are polling above 5%, and the election is conducted by instant run-off voting. Qiang Lockie reporting from Daily Epoch. Auroran Crisis The continent of Aurora is in turmoil this week. There seems to be a coup in Xagrurg, and the ACA seems to be heading into turbulent waters. An investigation is underway, and we'll keep you updated. Mitchell Lyn reporting from Pioneer Daily. |

The Atlaesian Associated Press Report #7 "All the news that's fit to print or broadcast, whichever you choose." Elections End! The election for President has ended, and the winning candidate will be inaugurated July 1, the symbolic birthday of the Atlae Isles. After counting up the instant-runoff voting, Stephen Yang of the United Atlaesian party has won with 63% of the vote (~50,400,000 votes). The new President will most likely face formidable foreign policy challenges coming up. Jockel Thijmen reporting from The Public Sentinel. Troubles Inside and Outside of Atlae The continent of Aurora is still in turmoil, and war is imminent. Meanwhile, advancing military capabilities are being reported in the 4 rebellious states in the North Dovahofkiinese Sea. These foreign policy conflicts are complemented by isolationist anti-war protests in Rocheste are going to be a problem for the new administration. Cecilio Rebekah reporting from The Business Journal. |
