== The Axdelian Merit == Factory layoff sparks protest in Barque A large group of over 2000 protesters gathered in the Barque financial district today, in response to a layoff in a galvanising plant on the outskirts of the city. The plant had recently invested in a sophisticated automation system to greatly improve productivity and profit, however this has meant that more than 300 low-skilled employees have been left jobless. the protest was organised by a small group of those left jobless by the plant, as well as many others whom had lost their jobs in a similar fashion. The protesters claim that the government is neglecting the working class by allowing corporations to overautomate the production process without consequence, with many calling for punitive action to be held against said corporations. Both the Liberal Union party and the Conservative initiative party have voiced their support for the movement, however many nationalist parties and organisations have claimed that the plant workers lost their jobs due to the outsourcing of labour by corporations to foreign countries, and have blamed the free movement of goods granted by the ACA for the layoff and any other layoffs. The protest ended when the croud obscured a major access road, where riot police were sent to intervene and dispersed the protesters. We are yet to receive a statement from Leon Jolva concerning the incident, though it is expected that the issue will be brought up in the house of representatives in the days following. == The Axdelian Merit == ACA law debate in the national assembly With the decision by multiple democratic Auroran nations to remove and replace the Auroran Continental Assembly with the Auroran Union, debate has been sparked between parties concerning the Auroran laws and regulations within Axdelian law if the nation where to leave. A bill will be going into vote this friday, which would integrate all current Auroran laws within Axdelian law, whilst retaining the power for ministers to alter and change them during the process. Parties have been split over the bill and its potential consequences. The Labour union and Second commune parties strongly oppose the bill, over the power it gives current ministers to decide upon the laws that will remain, as well as the power to potentially edit laws. Ivan Soloka, the leader of the Second commune party, gave a statement this morning, claiming: "The bill set to be voted upon this Friday is unfinished at the least, corrupt at the most. It gives possibly biased ministers the power to deny, and to alter the laws of our people, that govern how the world works around you, and what choices you're given in day-to-day life. I stand against this bill, and urge the people to take action and to demand the National assembly to alter the bill, before corruption and political favours become the norm of governance in Axdel." Fighting for the passage of the bill are the Conservative initiative party and the Constitutional founders party, as well as several minor far-right parties. The parties say that action must be taken to solidify the Auroran law into Axdelian law, and that any edits or redactions by the ministers will be adjudicated by an independent committee before approval, nullifying the risk of corruption. Whilst President Leon Jolva refused to give a statement on his party's stance, Conservative leader Mary Euler voiced support for the bill, claiming that: "It is of our interests to ensure that the democracy of this nation is preserved. If this policy threatened that democracy, myself and my party would not support it. And neither would we attempt to, nor could we even, influence the ministers to bow to our party goals, unlike what the communists love to claim about us." Additionally, if Axdel decides not to leave the ACA, this bill will be nullified. Regardless, support form either side within the National Assembly remains approximately even, and we will update our readers on the outcome of the bill in our issue of the Axdelian Merit this Friday. == The Axdelian Merit == Axdelian government condemns attacks on Adumara This Morning, Leon Jolva made a public statement denouncing the actions of the FPA, Kuthernburg and Yuno for invading Adumara. Additionally, he voiced his condolences for the victims of the suicide attack in Baldwin, in which 54 people died and more than 200 were injured. So-called al-jaheed have claimed responsibility for the devastating attacks, and according the the SH presidential spokesperson: "with the knowledge and blessing of the Fire Pact Alliance." The Axdelian office of International affairs has been in talks with UK prime minister, Walter Johannes, and have been talking of a coordinated response if the situation continues to escalate AD Courtesy of Freedom International Auroran unity and Global demilitarisation summit in Emberwood Coast With the future of aurora looking as fractured as it did in 1975 after the Auroran imperial war, Emberwood coast has organised a summit for all nations worldwide to discuss the deescalation of world conflict, and to promote coordination and cooperation over conflict. The summit has gained praise from many major world governments, especially those in Aurora seeking stability after the divisive Auroran-Pacific war, which severed the ACA in twain, leaving dialogue between member states strained. There has been some criticism in the allowance of FPA nations to the week-long conference, due to their authoritarian, oppressive nature. Some fear that this will subvert the cause of the meetings, and cause further world tension. Edited by Pagistar, Nov 22 2017, 12:19:16 PM.

== The Axdelian Merit == The Hunt for Feladine Junt Several days ago the Ethalrian assassin was captured on CCTV crossing the Axdel-Staynes border. Staynish and Axdelian armed Authorities are now leading a joint search operation in order to extradite Feladine and bring her to justice. She was spotted in Fort Kutaan purchasing takeaway food, and her car was found abandoned on a brownfield site on the outskirts of the town. Her current whereabouts are believed to be much further west, though officers describe her movements as "erratic and unpredictable". Criminology expert Michael Crags, who is involved in the search, believes she will continue heading west along the northern coast, and wants to remind people to be vigilant and report any sightings. He also warns to avoid confronting Feladine, as she is armed and extremely dangerous to civilians. |

== The Axdelian Merit == Axdel military budget slashed With formation of the UNAC complete and the ambitious naval modernisation project nearing its end, overall military expenditure has fallen by several billion. Jargk Reita made an announcement alongside the new report, saying: "With the four days and Auroran Pacific wars behind us, we believe that we have the freedom to re-allocate superfluous funding to other important sectors of the government, such as education and healthcare." In his announcement, he also confirmed that he would stand down as chief overseer in 2020, after "18 years proudly serving the role." |

== The Axdelian Merit == Resurgence in Protest sees Rise in Socialist Popularity A joint report by the Labour Union and Second commune parties of Leon Jolva's actions during the crisis leading up to the Auroran-Pacific war has been released. It criticises his lack of initiative in attempting to prevent the fascist uprisings in Ethalria and Xagrurg, stating that "...under Labour or Commune leadership, a joint response force would have been organised to intervene with the GXE uprising, which would have likely prevented the formation of the axis and furthermore have prevented the APW entirely." The report continues to damn the lack of response from other Auroran nations as well, despite the clear threat. Soon after the release of this report, numerous peaceful protests primarily in Nniikt have called for various acts of governmental reform, from a vote of no confidence in Leon Jolva, to requesting for a snap election to be held. Recent polls from various sources have also shown an increase in popularity for the left-wing parties, as well as a minor increase to conservative Initiative popularity. Models have also predicted that if an election were to be held, it would be likely that Leon Jolva would be put out of office by a socialist coalition government. Additionally, Second Commune party leader Ivan Soloka made a statement on Chirper voicing his support for the UNAC, saying that: "It has been performing its goals excellently so far" and that it "has greater potential than the ACA had in maintaining Auroran stability." |
