I'll raise one weird story.

Quote:

THE Pentagon considered developing a host of non-lethal chemical weapons that would disrupt discipline and morale among enemy troops, newly declassified documents reveal.

Most bizarre among the plans was one for the development of an "aphrodisiac" chemical weapon that would make enemy soldiers sexually irresistible to each other. Provoking widespread homosexual behaviour among troops would cause a "distasteful but completely non-lethal" blow to morale, the proposal says.

Other ideas included chemical weapons that attract swarms of enraged wasps or angry rats to troop positions, making them uninhabitable. Another was to develop a chemical that caused "severe and lasting halitosis", making it easy to identify guerrillas trying to blend in with civilians. There was also the idea of making troops' skin unbearably sensitive to sunlight.

The proposals, from the US Air Force Wright Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio, date from 1994. The lab sought Pentagon funding for research into what it called "harassing, annoying and 'bad guy'-identifying chemicals". The plans have been posted online by the Sunshine Project, an organisation that exposes research into chemical and biological weapons.

Spokesman Edward Hammond says it was not known if the proposed $7.5 million, six-year research plan was ever pursued.

Well, what advice were you expecting? Whilst I will certainly admit that modern exams can, to an extent, be solved through the application of specific techniques and tricks, I personally think this goes against the principle of what an exam should be, and I certainly wouldn't in any way advocate using them.

I may also not be the best person to ask. From a lot of people's perspective, my attitude to exams isn't exactly healthy. I don't approve of the above style that exams seem to have adopted, so I ignore it. Hence my exams frequently consist of my refusing to answer questions, arguing with interpretations of texts, or detailing at length why no answer to a question can truly be satisfactory. Personally, I've always taken the opinion that intellectual integrity is far more important than getting marks in exams.

I advised this to my brother, who shares a similar philosophy to me (insofar as he dislikes exams, sees the majority of his subjects as prescriptive and dull, and has a wonderfully acerbic stance on how these things should be dealt with. So if asked for a short story he'll come up with two lines of satirical prose and hand it in completely unabashed. I can't deny he has a certain style when it comes to these things - anyway, I digress...) , and he endeavoured to apply this technique in his mock exams. He scored about 32% on the papers I've been told of and was subjected to much abuse from his teachers on not taking things seriously and wasting people's time. His English teacher predicted a grade B/C for his report, but added the following proviso, which I find highly amusing "I've predicted you this, but quite frankly you'l either get an A* or fail the exam entirely."

So it's kind of an all or nothing technique. A more principled technique, in my opinion, but also one that's quite likely to result in failure. But what do exams matter, anyway? They're not worth sacrificing your independence for, in my opinion. Rather fail an exam than have to play the system and give answers by rote and restrict yourself to conventional viewpoints and prescribed answers.

Seeing as I'm in high school, accountancy isn't even something I can study, not to mention something I would want to study.

You know its fun to charter an accountant,

to find explore the fund off shore, and
Skirt the shoals of Bankrupcy

well that is as much Monty Python as I can take.

Are you suggesting that coconuts are migratory?

And FPS, practice makes perfect, but obsession makes better. Observe:

Three Layers of the Brain- mental functions are scattered through out the brain.

Brain Stem and Cerebellum- operates outside of consciousness.

Brain Stem- the most primitive part of the brain. Connects to the spinal cord, regulates internal state of the body.

Medulla- at the top of the brain stem, it controls heart rate and breathing. Here, the connections from the “left-body” go to the “right-brain”, and the “right-body to the “left-brain”.

Pons- regulates activity during sleep.

Reticular Activating System (RAS)- between the Medulla and Pons, it arouses the cortex to keep it alert of new stimuli.

Thalamus- the “CPU” atop the brainstem, almost all messages in and out of the brain go through here.

Cerebellum- coordination, movement and balance.

I can rattle off PSYC-105 terms just like that. In this case the human brain.

If there is one thing I've learned after Psychology 105, it's NEVER MAKE A SELF-FUFILLING PROPHECEY! Particularly, the negative kind. Everytime I use my "foresight" I end up getting :Squid:ed. But, you're in high school, and I assume you're not in a public adacemy like I was, so your tests should be realitively easy.

I visited the academy last week and took a look at the Great Gasby test my old English teacher gave me. I did well on it for a guy who didn't read it in 2 years. The quote section killed me though. God, I wish they had an essay on that.

So here's my take on tests:

Usually, multipule choice has some recall hints in them.

Essays are easy. You can BS anything on them if you do it right. I related The Mask, Bionicle and Madonna on my Catcher in the Rye test and term paper, and nailed it!

Fill-in-the-blanks, well, that's tricky, but doable.
