You know every era of cars has a specific Look that is highly copied and is all over the plave,
in the first era, they were minimalistic carriges who for got their horses,
In the second era of the 30's and early 40's, the look was a hood that stood above the fenders
in the third, the late 40's and 50's, the chrome and wings grew until the whale looked like a bird.
the fourth , the 60's, the front fenders stuck out ahead of the grille
in the fifth, the 70's, everything was a hatchback
in the sixth, the 80's, everything was boxy, and had severe angles,
in the seventh, the 90's, everythng was rounded and curvy
in the eigth, Now, The Hood stands above the fenders again.

I predict that the next big thing in cars will be lots of chrome and fender wings. :mac:

Each generation also has their favorite style of vehicles. I happen to like new cars. My grandparents would rather have the classics. But what I have begun to notice is that I tend to critique newer models, and hope they don't get any worse. Recently, I had the opportunity to replace my 2003 model vehicle with a 2005 version of that same vehicle. I decided not to, because I liked the way my current vehicle looks, better than I do the newer one does. All that is to say, I really hope they don't go back in style!

There are huge differences. Back in those earlier eras, cars emitted an alphabet soup of toxic wastes. Now, thanks to smart environmental regulation, cars are much cleaner now then they were 30 years ago. In addition, I don't think we'll see a return of the tailfins. What you DO see, however, is an uptake of AWD among (mainly American) consumers.

We are also seeing increased globalization. For instance, GM-owned Australian car manufacturer Holden is exporting the Monaro to the States as a Pontiac GTO. In fact, there is also a new VE Holden Commodore that will be coming soon (2006 to be exact) and might be shared by GMNA, it they can get their part of the Zeta program up and running. In addition, Holden is shelving their Opel Corsa-based Barina and Polish-made Astra Classic sedan and replacing them with an Aveo/Kalos-based Barina and Lacetti/Optra5/Reno/Excelle-based Viva. American Nissans are showing the influence of their alliance partner, the French car manufacturer Renault. Not to mention that the Pontiac Vibe is a Toyota Corolla wagon under another name, and Saturn is going to be made over as the North American Opel. The two major Swedish car manufacturers, Saab and Volvo, are owned by American car companies (GM and Ford, respectively, to be more exact). Among other examples of globalization in the world of automobiles.

What you're probably going to be seeing in the next couple of years is increasing globalization, plus a heavy emphasis on alternative technologies such as hydrogen and NGVs and hybrids and E85.
Sincerely yours,

If Santa doesn't bring me a new Dodge Charger next Christmas, I'm going to stop believing in him. A red one, of course.

Oh yeah -- dream car! Too bad I probably wouldn't be able to fit in one, even if I could afford it (which I can't). Oh well. That's why there are "dreams," eh?

That car is more of a monstrosity than a... car. How many miles per gallon does that thing get, anyway?

I predict that, for the next era of cars, we will go back to the era of minimalistic carriages, but this time around... they will HOVER!

Another reason why I need to find the trans-dimensional portal to the NationStates world. The cars get better gas mileage!

I was born in the 90's, yet I like the older cars (from the 60s and before) the most. Dunno why, just a preference.
