SATURDAY, JUNE 18, 2005 GNIDRAH EXPANDS Last week, the Government of Gnidrah officially acquired large plots of land to the south of its original state, Sasnakra. Saxet and Acirema were both incorporated as the population of Gnidrah grew to over one billion citizens. "This was a necessary step to ensure both the comfort of our people, and the protection of our many lush forests, including the wildlife within them," stated John Alexander, public relations spokesperson for the Government. "We're very pleased with the outcome. We believe it was well-worth it. The land is beautiful." When asked if there are any future plans for expansion, Alexander replied, "At this time, we do not require any more land than we have. Aside from that, we are only allotted so many plots, based on our population, due to East Pacific region regulations. As we continue to grow, yes, we will look into expanding again. We are already looking at land northeast of our most recent addition. But we will have to wait until our population is over 1.5 billion." The expansion created two additional military bases, apart from the one Gnidrah already had, and established two capital cities. (Ycraes still serves as the nation's capital.) It also tripled Gnidrah's land mass. -- REVOLT INVOLVES GNIDRAH Recent activity in East Malaysia has gotten the attention of Gnidrah. An organization within East Malaysia launched a revolt earlier this week, weakening the government's control of the country. Because of this, what is called the "East Pacific Treaty Organization" (EPTO) and its "Emergency Action Force" (EAF) were called to intervene. According to sources, an emergency convention was held in Liberty City, Free Pacific States, calling for member nations of the two organizations to support involvement in the situation. Gnidrah serves as the Western Command Headquarters for EPTO, and has military leaders in the EAF. "Of course we support assisting East Malaysia in their time of need," said Brigadier General Samuel Johnston, Department of Defense. "If Gnidrah were going through the same or a similar situation, we would certainly welcome aid provided by our allies. It's just the right thing to do." Johnston refused to comment on specifics of the involvement, but did say that it was ultimately decided to proceed with military and additional support. This makes the third international incident that Gnidrah has been called to enter into. -- NOSIB ESCAPES While undergoing relocation, a nosib broke loose of its restraints and ran towards downtown Ycraes. "That's not an easy animal to catch, once its gotten out of what's holding it back," said Bill Hughes, a private nosib handler. "Them suckers are huge, and could win against five full-grown men." The national animal roamed the streets of Ycraes while police and animal control officials attempted to corral the animal. "I was scared for my life," one bystander said. "I was looking at some shoes through the window of a fashion shop, when I saw this big, blackish shape come into the reflection. Startled, I turned to see what it was, and it clipped my purse, snapping it off the straps and sending flying to the ground. Next time, I'll think twice about window-shopping." After four hours, the beast was tranquilized while attempting to enter the government complex. One imperial guard said, "It was either that, or we were going to shoot it. Either way, it was not entering the grounds beyond the gates." The nosib was transported by truck to its area of relocation. In the end, no deaths or serious injuries were reported, and only $1,500 of property damage was caused by the escape. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, JUNE 25, 2005 GNIDRAH REPRESENTS THE EAST PACIFIC In recent news, a Gnidrah government official was appointed to serve as an ambassador for The East Pacific. John Maxwell will be representing the region as Ambassador to The South Pacific. "This is certainly an honor for the nation of Gnidrah," said John Alexander, public relations spokesperson for the Government of Gnidrah. "We hope John will like his new assignment, and that he will serve his purpose to the likings of both regions." Maxwell will be working with other regional diplomats to further strengthen The East Pacific's relationships with various other regions around the world. We at Gnidrah News wish him well. -- MORE DEALINGS WITH THE SOUTH PACIFIC The Government of Gnidrah issued a press release yesterday, concerning a new nation in The South Pacific region. We have included excerpts of this statement below: "The Holy Empire of Gnidrah is pleased to announce the birth of a new sister nation in The South Pacific. L'Impero degli Imperi, or "The Empire of Empires," has been established. ... The new empire is ruled by Constance, Empress of Imperi. ... Though Imperi is our sister nation, the Government's main dealings are with the nation of Gnidrah and The East Pacific, therefore we have no direct control over the Government of Imperi. However, if necessary, we will offer them our support." It should be noted that Constance is the sister of Matthew, Emperor of Gnidrah. -- OPEN UP THE SKY The International Commercial Airline Industry (ICAI) of Gnidrah has announced the opening of three major companies that will be flying passengers to and from other nations in The East Pacific. Impaerial Airlines, International Airways, and AirGnidrah have each submitted commercial jets and flight information to the ICAI to become part of the East Pacific Civil Aviation Organisation. This will allow passenger and possibly freight aircraft to fly freely to and from certain other nations in the region. "This is a step in the right direction," one pilot commented. "Not only is this good for the economy, but I love the longer flights, and that just wasn't possible only flying within the borders of Gnidrah. Now I can literally spread my wings." Impaerial Airlines and International Airways are both new companies, while AirGnidrah was the first commercial airline company in Gnidrah. When the new opportunity became available, AirGnidrah established an "International" division, allowing the company to expand to a higher level. The company's international airplanes have each been dubbed "FlyingNosib," after Gnidrah's national animal, the nosib. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, JULY 2, 2005 NETWORK FAILURE HENDERS GN This edition of Gnidrah News has been delayed due to a network failure in the GN offices. Attempts to publish the news online failed Saturday evening, and continued to be the case until today. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused for our readers. -- GNIDRAH CELEBRATES FEDERATION DAY Robert Stacey, a representative of the Department of International Affairs, recently attended celebrations in the nation of Kelssek. The celebrations were in recognition of Federation Day, a national holiday symbolizing the establishment of Kelssek on July 1, 1889. Stacey was one of several foreign diplomats to attend. -- IT'S OFFICIAL The Government of Gnidrah, through the Gnidrah Department of Motor Vehicles, recently registered its official government vehicles with the Government of The East Pacific, through the Regional Registry of Motor Vehicles. This was done in an attempt to gain recognition, and possibly exempt status, should any of the vehicles need to be transported into other nations in the region. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, JULY 9, 2005 FIRES PLAGUE GNIDRAH Several fires have been reported recently in the nation of Gnidrah. The Metropolitan Fire Department in Ycraes has responded to over 12 fire calls this past week, alone. Four of those were false alarms, but the others were serious; some even severe. MFD Chief Brit Hughes said many of the fires were caused by human error. "People have a disregard for the potential danger of fires," Chief Hughes stated in a recent interview. "Fortunately, these fires are within the city, rather than in the forests. The city is one thing, but the forest is whole 'nother ball game." No one has died as a result of the fires, and no serious injuries have been reported. Property damage has been minimal, with the exception of one residence, which has been marked for destruction, due to the overwhelming fire damage. -- GNIDRAH TO UNVEIL NEW FLAG The Government of Gnidrah announced Friday its intent to design a new national flag. John Alexander, public relations spokesperson for the Government, said the decision came after deliberations regarding a concern of the current flag. "Basically, it was brought to our attention that the flag we have now is somewhat depressing (referring to the predominance of the color black)," Alexander stated. "We don't want to be seen as a depressing nation, to neither our people nor other nations." A design team, consisting of one designer, three collaborators, and a government supervisor has been put together. The designer, while a citizen of Gnidrah, has been contracted through "Mcmann and Tate," a design agency for the region of The East Pacific. No date has been set for the flag's unveiling, but it should be soon, according to sources. -- ELECTIONS SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 10 The Gnidrah Election Commission (GEC) has announced that the nation will hold its first set of elections on Saturday, December 10, 2005. Elections would come just one day before Gnidrah is to celebrate its first anniversary of its establishment as a nation. Tim York, Election Commissioner, stated in a press release, "The Government of realizes there have been no elections since its establishment. While there has not been a problem because of this, Gnidrah is a democratic empire, so we would like to let the people decide." York also went on to say that elections would take place every five years after the first set. "By design, we would like to be able to bring in a freshly-elected government for the next running years, and hold elections on every fifth year, such as 2005, 2010, et cetera," the commissioner said. Campaigns are expected to begin immediate, especially with such a short notice, not allowing much time to campaign. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, JULY 16, 2005 NEW TERRITORY CLAIMED The Government of Gnidrah very recently announced its claim of land in the South Pacific region. This comes as a shock to most citizens in the nation, as most government dealings regarding land have been restricted to the East Pacific region. "This new claim of land is simply a measure to make things easier for relations between Gnidrah and Imperi, and for use by the Embassy of the East Pacific and its ambassador, who is from Gnidrah," stated Gnidrah Department of International Affairs' director, David Fulton. "There is no need to be alarmed; it's just a territory of ours in another region." To avoid confusion, the territory has been named Dominion of Gnidrah. "We just don't need foreign nations and their people thinking that the nation of Gnidrah is located in the South Pacific region, rather than the East Pacific region," Fulton said. -- GNIDRAH EXTENDS RELATIONS The Gnidrah Department of International Affairs issued a letter to nations of the East Pacific, calling on their governments to establish diplomatic relations with the Government of Gnidrah. "We received an unexpected, but pleasant response, to our invitation," said David Fulton, Director of International Affairs, in an interview today. "Gnidrah's doors had been closed to relations with other nations since its beginning. We decided it was time to change that." Embassies and/or consulates from ten nations have been opened in Gnidrah, and likewise been established by Gnidrah in those nations. Those nations include: East Malaysia, Krechzianko, Vladistock Island, Govindia, Grays Harbor, Imatron, The Wachovia Coalition, Free Pacific States, Kelssek, and Xiopothos. -- GNIDRAH UNVEILS NEW FLAG The design team has unveiled the design for the new flag for the nation of Gnidrah. The team, consisting of one designer (from Mcmann and Tate), three collaborators, and a government supervisor produced the design within a week of the announcement of the Government's intent ti do so. ![]() Gnidrah's new national flag design. The flag, consisting of pale yellow, light tan, gray, and dark gray colors, is an improvement from the predominantly black-colored flag the government orginally incorporated in 2004, when Gnidrah was founded. "We're very pleased with the outcome of this design," said Paul Richardson, designer of the flag. "Gnidrah is a peaceful nation with a positive outlook. The former flag just wasn't sending that message." ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, JULY 23, 2005 GDIA BANQUET SET, RESET Wednesday, the Gnidrah Department of International Affairs invited all officially recognized diplomats living in Gnidrah to attend the First Annual International Dinner, to be hosted by the DIA on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. local time, in the Imperial Capitol building. Several foreign diplomats had responded to the invitation, registering their RSVPs. Then something happened. The Government of Gnidrah is refusing to comment as to what caused the postponement, but has given us information for the event, which has been rescheduled for a week later, on Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. local time, in the Imperial Capitol building. As a result of whatever happened, the Government has shut down for the next week, putting the nation in a state of isolation. -- ATTEMPTED SUICIDE? The Metropolitan Police Department is looking into a report of an attempted suicide. Officials are refusing to comment on the situation, saying it is still under investigation, but sources indicate a visiting ambassador is possibly the center of this emergency. -- GNIDRAH EMBASSY RUFFLED A typhoon hit the Grayson Islands recently, sending members of the Grays Harbor Embassy of Gnidrah to the basement. Several properties in the area have been severely damaged by the storm. The embassy staff has reported back to the Government of Gnidrah that everyone is safe. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

TUESDAY, AUGUST 2, 2005 NO MORE POSTPONEMENT Despite minor setbacks, the Gnidrah Department of International Affairs (DIA) will not be postponing their First Annual International Dinner, scheduled for tomorrow evening in the Imperial Capitol building. A spokesperson from the DIA gave us a comment regarding the situation. "We had a little problem last week with the Government shutting down, but everything is looking good for tomorrow's event. We're having to wait for an item that has yet to be in our possession, but I understand we will receive it in the morning, in time for the banquet. The event is good to go." The contact refused to comment as to the specifics of the government shut-down we reported last week, but we are pleased to report that it officially reopened as of yesterday. Things apparently are "back to normal." If we get any information at all, we'll keep you posted. -- ANCIENT REMAINS UNEARTHED Archaeologists have made a discovery that they claim to be the remains of a dragon. The find occurred when two archaeologist were digging in a location in the Aibmuloc habitat of Acirema. They were originally searching for what they thought would be ancient human remains. One archaeologist said, "It really was a shock to run across these bones. But I'm almost certain these are the bones of a dragon. The archaelogists believe it is a dragon because the layout of the bones give the appearance of a "dinosaur with wings." The bones have been collected and shipped to the National Center for Archaeology, located in Notgnihsaw, Acirema, for further examination. -- CONDITION OF GNIDRAH CITIZEN UNKNOWN Reports of terrorist attacks in Free Pacific States struck fear in Gnidrah, today. Sources indicate a representative from the Government of Gnidrah might have been a victim of an explosion that shook the streets of Liberty City. No official reports as to his or her condition have been released, and no confirmation of his or her identity has been made. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 2005 GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN: THE CAUSE According to a source, who wished to remain annonymous, the Government's week-long period of isolationism was apparently the result of a bomb threat, which threatened to cause an explosion in one of the Government's buildings, within the same week the government shut down. The Government decided to vacate the buildings for the week, should such an attack take place, according to the inside source. The individual also noted that the Department of Intelligence is still investigating the threat. The Government is refusing to comment officially, but said no such explosion took place. -- LAND CLEARING UNCLEAR Land across from New Park, in the city of Ycraes, is being cleared. It appears as though the land is being setup for construction work, but it is unclear at this time. Efforts to contact the mayor's office have been made, but have no one was available to comment on the matter. -- WEBSITE TO BE PUBLISHED The Government of Gnidrah has been working diligently to design, create, and publish an official website for the nation. "We want the people to be able to read about the history, the government, and other important subjects pertaining to Gnidrah," commented John Alexander, public relations spokesperson for the Government. "We have a design and technology team organized, and we hope to release the site by September of this year." No specific date has been given for its release. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SPECIAL EDITION GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE ARRESTED, CHARGED Pedro Owen, a former government employee, was arrested yesterday, for sharing government-level inside information with an outside source. Dennis Stone, assistant director of Gnidrah's Intelligence department, commented on the matter. "We knew we had a leak of information somewhere within the government. We just didn't know where. So, we decided to shut the government down, publishing a false memorandum to all government employees, and directing everyone not to let the contents of the memorandum be known by the public. We had about decided that the leak wasn't going to be found, when we read the news story on GN [(reference: Government Shutdown: The Cause, Gnidrah News, Saturday, August 6, 2005)]. That's when we found the leak -- Mr. Owen." Owen was arrested after the Government attained vital information in the investigation, provided by Gnidrah News. He has been terminated from his job with the government, and will be charged with treason and government espionage, according to Stone. -- DOD STATUS OF SECURITY LEVEL RAISED The Department of Defense's Status of Security (SoS) level has been increased from blue to green, according to nationwide general broadcast. The increase comes as a result of the East Pacific region's defense condition level raising from DefCon 4 to DefCon 3. The regional increase is a precautionary measure, due to certain international incidents which have and might occur. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2005 DSE TO BEGIN TESTING The Gnidrah Department of Space Exploration (DSE) has announced its intentions to begin test flights as soon as next week. "We won't be sending spacecraft into space just yet," commented Tom Ruiz, director, "but we would like to see if they will actually get off the ground." Ruiz said the flights will be exercised in Gnidrah airspace, and that no specific location or schedule will be released to the public, for security reasons. However, the director said to look forward to a report, after all tests had been completed. -- PROMOTIONS IN EAF, DoD General Charles McDaniel, East Pacific Treaty Organization (EPTO) Western Command director, has been promoted by the EPTO Emergency Action Force (EAF) to the position of Assistant Director of the EAF. McDaniel also received an EAF promotion from Lieutenant General (LTG) to General (GEN). Due to the recent promotions, the Gnidrah Department of Defense (DoD) also issued McDaniel a promotion from LTG to GEN. As well as McDaniel, other Gnidrahn officials of the EPTO EAF were also promoted. Likewise, they also received promotions from the Gnidrah DoD. This is the first time in the history of Gnidrah where there have been more than one four-star generals (one is the assistant director of the DoD). -- CAMPAIGNS UNDERWAY Several individuals have registered with the Gnidrah Election Commission (GEC), stating their intent to run for elected positions in the government, including two filings for emperor. Saruwatari Masato, a 57-year-old man, and Jeanne Forsteiere, a 24-year-old woman, have both filed applications to be elected emperor of Gnidrah. "While it is expected to have opponents in virtually any position, it's not my place or within my capacity to speculate as to how much these support these applicants might gain, especially this early in the game," remarked Election Commissioner Tim York, when asked of his opinion, regarding the two applicants. Elections are scheduled for Saturday, December 10, of this year. The first campaign began last week. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2005 GNIDRAH AVOIDING CONFLICT, BUT PREPARED NONETHELESS Emperor Richardson called upon the Department of Defense (DoD) to raise its Status of Security level by two, from blue (peacetime) to yellow (increased force readiness). The emperor also called on Director Leonard to notify each of the defense divisions to stand by. ![]() Above: Three FA/22 Raptors taxi to an air force base runway Wednesday afternoon, as the Department of Defense calls for an increase in force readiness. The reaction comes as war between Gnidrah's associates begins, in the East Pacific. Sources indicate the government does not expect to enter into the war. However, in case of a conflict between the many governments involved with each other and Gnidrah, the DoD wants to be prepared. "Gnidrah is and has been defensive, not aggressive," says Assistant Director McBride. "It will remain that way, for as long as possible." -- DSE COMPLETES TESTING, SCHEDULES LAUNCH DATE The Department of Space Exploration (DSE) has announced its completion of flight tests, and plan on sending its first spacecraft into space, as early as late November. Tom Ruiz, director, said he was please with the outcome of the tests, and is anxious to get into space. "While we want to hurry, yes, we are going to be very cautious," Ruiz stated in a press conference. "We know and understand that if we do not work everything out as it should be worked out, then there is the higher potential of a disaster, at our hands." The spacecraft will be revealed soon, according to sources. It was schedule to be unveiled during the press conference, but such was postponed due to maintenance being performed on the vessel. -- EMPEROR NAMED MOST ELIGIBLE BACHELOR A popular magazine among high-school and college-age girls in Gnidrah has ranked the nation's 20-year-old emperor as the most-eligible bachelor, in the nation. The selection list, compiled over three-months time, was published to the magazine's subscription group, for polling. When results returned to the magazine's corporate office, they were tallied, and organized into the resulting list of 50 of Gnidrah's most-popular bachelors. The magazine's editor said it was no surprise, it's just surprising that the emperor is still single. The government offered no comment. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2005 DOD STRATEGIZES, MOBILIZES The Department of Defense (DoD) has been strategizing, coming up with various different scenarios for the current situation in the region, which would have direct effects on Gnidrah. The nation's military has also been mobilized, in preparation of the most extreme scenarios. ![]() Above: Two Gnidrahn naval ships, along with other vessels in a group, voyage to the southeastern side of the subcontinent, Friday. Part of the Navy's fleet has been dispatched to the Frieden Ocean, where the group will remain until another assignment has been allocated. A group of ships from Gnidrah's Division of the Navy has been traveling international waters since it was sent to the Frieden Ocean. The military vessels are not assault ships for their current assignment. However, the DoD has implied they will take defensive measures, if necessary. -- REGIONAL AMBASSADOR MOVED UP John Maxwell of Gnidrah, the East Pacific's ambassador to the South Pacific, has recently moved up in the ranks of the Interregional Relations department. He served under a Wachovian ambassador-at-large, as an ambassador, when he joined the region's diplomacy group. He then served under a Krechziankan ambassador general, as the assistant ambassador general. Currently, Maxwell serves the region as the ambassador general of the East Pacific Interregional Relations department. In his new role, he is responsible for overseeing the department's operation, including managing ambassadors, maintaining foreign and domestic embassies, and other various diplomatic tasks. "I've worked out a schedule, where I can be in the office on Christie Island most of the time," the Gnidrahn noted, "and still have time to visit our embassy in the South Pacific, spending a great amount of time there." -- LAND CLEARING CLEAR Land across from Giardini Regionali (formerly New Park), in the city of Ycraes, has been cleared and a building has been constructed. According to a press release from the city government, the structure will be utilized by the national government's International Affairs department, for use by foreign diplomats and dignitaries. The building will be named Regional Centre upon its completion, and apparently was previewed to a group of representatives from other nations, during the International Dinner, hosted by the DIA this past August. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2005 BENTLEY TO TAKE THE WHEEL The Government of Gnidrah and Bentley Motors have finalized an agreement. Bentley Motors will replace Ford Motor Company's Lincoln Division as official producer of the emperor's and premier's government-owned vehicles, as well as for the government's limousines. ![]() Above: The Bentley Continental Flying Spur (shown) will replace the emperor's Lincoln Navigator, as his official government vehicle. The Bentley Arnage model line will replace the premier's Lincoln Aviator, as her official government vehicle, and the government's limousines. The agreement came after Bentley Motors had won the bid for use as the Regional Centre's limousine. The motor company had drafted a proposal, given to the government, for it to be the official manufacturer of the nation's head government officials. "I think this is a good change," one spectator stated, at the Bentley conference, last week. "You see several [Gnidrahns driving] Lincoln Navigators, all over the nation. But you do not see hardly any Bentley vehicles on the streets. That just adds to the high honor [of the nation's leaders]. The government will continue to utilize Lincoln vehicles, according to a government spokesperson. Lincoln just won't have the first seat, any longer. No one was available for comment, at Lincoln's headquarters, as of this article's publishing. -- GNIDRAH OBTAINS SECRETARY GENERAL POSITION The East Pacific Treaty Organization, an alliance among a select number of nations in the region, has undergone some significant changes in its structure. The position of Secretary General (the leader of the organization) was taken away from the nation of Krechzianko, and passed to the nation of Gnidrah, both by majority votes. (Source: Embassy Update, Department of International Relations, the East Pacific Government) -- PASSING THE TORCH The former Ambassador General (from Krechzianko) has stepped down from his position, and appointed the former Assistant Ambassador General (from Gnidrah) to be his successor. [Editor's note: this would be why I've been scarce, these days.] Under the new leadership, new changes have already been implemented in the department, and several more are being planned. "My intent in this new role of mine," commented the Ambassador General, "is to bring the East Pacific closer to other regions, and strengthen relationships between us and the other Pacifics. But that will take time, effort, and compromise, on both sides of the road. We already have good standing relationships with the South Pacific, and the Pacific, and I hope to improve those, as well." SATURDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2005 MILITARY RETURNS HOME After being sent out to be prepared, after conflict in the East Pacific mounted, Gnidrah's Department of Defense is bringing home its troops. "I'm just glad they didn't have to get more involved than they were," commented John Alexander, spokesman for the Department of Public Affairs, while issuing a press statement, regarding the military's decision. -- VOTING OVER, ELECTIONS TO BE DETERMINED Citizens across Gnidrah took to the polls, today, to vote for the next emperor (or empress) of Gnidrah. Saruwatari Masato, a 57-year-old man, Jeanne Forsteiere, a 24-year-old woman, and Emperor Matthew Richardson, a 20-year-old man, were all candidates. Skeptics feel Masato had a strong campaign against Richardson, while others feel Forsteiere would make a better-looking empress. But Tim York, election commissioner, says it's too soon to say. "To simply declare a winner this early would be absurd," he said. "We won't know anything until tomorrow, after the votes have been tallied." He added, "But rest assured, we will know who our next emperor or empress is in time for him or her to address the nation for Dependence Day, tomorrow." This election makes the first in Gnidrah's history. The next one will take place in 2010. -- DEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS SET Gnidrah is to celebrate it's one-year anniversary, tomorrow. As cited of Dependence Day:
A parade in Ycraes has been scheduled, weather permitting, and other capital cities in the nation have also planned parades and other celebrations. After the parade, there will be a fireworks display, and a grand ball, for invited officials, dignitaries, and honorable guests only. The newly elected emperor (or empress) will be addressing the nation, tomorrow evening, from the event. All government offices will be closed Monday. ©2005 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, JANUARY 28, 2006 REGIONAL AMBASSADOR RESIGNS John Maxwell, a Gnidrah native, has resigned from his position as the East Pacific's ambassador to the South Pacific. Maxwell stated the decision took some strong consideration. "...I've other matters of concern that I must tend to," he said. ![]() Above: Former Ambassador John Maxwell makes his resignation public in a recent press conference, in the East Pacific embassy, located in the South Pacific. Maxwell will retain his post as Ambassador General -- the highest position in the East Pacific Government's Department of Interregional Relations -- until he resigns from that position, as well -- something he is not expected to do, any time soon. -- EMPEROR RICHARDSON ELECTED Over a month ago, we reported that Gnidrah's first election for Emperor had taken place, and a candidate had been elected. The next day, it was confirmed, Emperor Matthew Richardson had been elected. "It was close; very close," said Tim York, election commissioner. 54 percent of the voters voted for Richardson, a 20-year-old man of the Lanigiro faction, while 42 percent voted for Saruwatari Masato, a 57-year-old man of the Repubican party, and roughly four percent voted for Jeanne Forsteiere, a 24-year-old woman of the Democratic axis. We asked some students attending Gnidrah University who they voted for and why. One young man replied, "I voted for that girl candidate, because she is pretty good-looking." A young lady answered, "Well, I voted for Matt, because he's done a good job of building and leading this country; why change a good thing?" Gnidrah's second election for Emperor is scheduled for 2010, according to York. -- GOVERNMENT, FORD UNITE The Government of Gnidrah and Ford Motor Company have joined forces in an effort to provide safer, more fuel-efficient, and more environmentally-friendly vehicles. "Our goal is to increase the government's standards for automobile-production in Gnidrah, with innovative design and technology that we plan on incorporating into our entire model line," commented Bill Ford, Chairman and CEO of the company. "We welcome this opportunity to work with Ford to bring better vehicles into Gnidrah's near future," said Kyle Patterson, Assistant Director of the Department of Transportation. "Gnidrah and Ford will be working together long-term, and for the better." Ford already produces a full-hybrid SUV -- the Ford Escape Hybrid -- which has a fuel economy of 36 miles-per-gallon (MPG) city, and 31 MPG highway. The Government has purchased several of the SUV's, to replace its entire fleet of Ford Escapes (the non-hybrid version), used by the Imperial Guard law enforcement agency. ©2006 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SPECIAL EDITION INCOMING HURRICANE LEADS TO EVACUATION ORDER, RECOMMENDATION Monday evening, the Ministry of Emergency Management for the Imperial Islands region, located in the nation of Royal Isles, issued the following emergency evacuation order. It also recommended to other island governments in the region they do the same.
![]() Above: A satellite photograph of Hurrican Hurakan shows the magnitude of what the Imperial Islands region is more than likely about to face. Two of the three major companies in Gnidrah's International Commercial Airlines Industry have begun a joint-effort in providing air-travel services for those evacuating. Impaerial Airlines and AirGnidrah International have both agreed to work together to allow for free flights out of the Imperial Islands region, as means of making it easier for the evacuation process. The Gnidrahn military has also deployed a proportional amount of ships, aircraft, and troops, to assist the local military and law enforcement forces, during their state of emergency. In addition, a cruise ship has reportedly been sent from Gnidrahn territories north of 1 Infinite Loop, to the area, to rendezvous with its sister ship, native to the region, to aide evacuation personnel in during the evacuation. The Wedre Centre, the government's regional weather service, indicated a Level 5 hurricane -- the highest and most dangerous category -- developed several miles from the island chain, and was taking route directly towards the region. The storm's winds were last measured at 163 miles per hour. Due to the strong winds, it is estimated tidal surges will be 18 feet or higher, by the time they reach the shore. The hurricane has been named "Hurakan," after a so-called "god" of the storm, and is expected to hit the islands in a matter of days. ©2006 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2006 EVACUEES ESCAPE AS INCOMING STORM NEARS In response to a mandatory evacuation order, issued by the Imperial Islands Ministry of Emergency Management on Monday, nearly 3.5 billion people fled the lands of Royal Isles, Imperi Isole, and Gnidrah Islands by noon Saturday. Later that evening, the Level-5 hurricane that has been expected to hit the Imperial Islands region had reached the edge of the Eastern Province. (See below.) ![]() Above: A Gnidrahn satellite captures the latest image of the storm, as it reached the islands. The populace of Imperi Isole has been evacuated to Imperi, in the South Pacific, while that of Gnidrah Islands has been transported to Gnidrah and the Gnidrah territory, which is just north of 1 Infinite Loop. Meanwhile, approximately half of the population of Royal Isles, which has an estimated population of 1.2 billion, is being sent to the colony of Nautikos, in the Heartland region, while the remaining 600 million are being transported the colony of Gnid, located in the region of Hyrule. ©2006 Gnidrah News, Inc. -- EDIT: For reference material regarding the two most recent news stories, above, please visit the respective thread on the Imperial Islands regional forum, located here. SATURDAY, MARCH 4, 2006 INCOMING FLEET After several days traveling the ocean waters, hurricane evacuess have made their way to the East Pacific, from Gnidrah Islands in the Imperial Islands region. Part of the populace of over one billion will be making their way to the Gnidrah territory, just north of 1 Infinite Loop, while the remaining mass will be transported to the nation of Gnidrah. Air and water crafts of the Gnidrahn military are being utilized for this massive evacuation effort, and will be traveling through international waters while en route to their destinations. The vessels are flying the Gnidrahn and East Pacific flags, as well as a plain white flag, in an effort to distinguish the fleet as one of non-aggression. -- SOCIAL PARTY PLANNED A social event has been coordinated in an effort to raise funds for refugees and evacuees from the Imperial Islands region. The party has been scheduled for Saturday, March 11, at 10:00 p.m., and is expected to last until some time after midnight. Event coordinators stress the issue that this is not a government-sanctioned event, but that the proceeds collected will be donated to the Ministry of Emergency Management of the Imperial Islands regional government. -- INFANT DIES IN CAR ACCIDENT A major accident ties up traffic on just outside Ycraes Saturday night, killing a baby. Just before 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, a vehicle traveling at high rate of speed lost control, hitting another vehicle, then crossed over the median hitting another two vehicles. The driver of the out-of-control vehicle was injured, along with two others in another vehicle. However, a three-and-half-month-old passenger in the first vehicle did lose his life. Two medical helicopters, each equipped with on-board doctors, were flown in to take the seriously injured to hospitals. A State Police official commented to reporters, "This is why it is so important to follow traffic regulations. In the event that these laws are broken, there is a greater potential for an accident, and innocent lives can be lost, such as in this scenario." [This news article was published in memory of the young life that was lost last night, in a very real traffic accident just outside of Little Rock, Arkansas. The original article has been edited and added to, to reflect such an instance in Gnidrah, but what actually took place is still in tact. My prayers are with the families involved in such a horrific tale.] ©2006 Gnidrah News, Inc. |

SATURDAY, MARCH 18, 2006 DEFENSE, POLICE TO COMMISSION ROBOTS The Gnidrah Department of Defense and Gnidrah's law enforcement agencies have announced they will be begin using androids as soldiers and police officers. The announcement came after a contract between the organizations and Protech, a techology and defense corporation based in Ycraes, had been agreed upon. According to a Defense department spokesperson, commissioning the robots would put less human lives at risk, especially in dangerous situations. "We are confident these robots will perform as well as, if not better than, their human counterparts." The Protech Corporation said the robots will be ready by the end of this month. -- EMPEROR WOUNDED Emperor Richardson was wounded yesterday, in a fencing accident. A government spokesperson said he sustained minor injuries when his opponent, whose name has not been released, inadvertently struck the emperor while the nation's ruler's attention had been called to something else. "There was no foul play," said Richardson, of the incident. "These things just happen." The emperor was treated on-scene, and went back to work. -- EVACUEES RETURN A mass exodus has taken place, as the evacuees from Gnidrah Islands, in the Imperial Islands region, return to their homes. The populace had been evacuated from their homes, and transported to the nation of Gnidrah, when a hurricane threatened the Imperial Islands region. The storm has since passed, allowing for the locals to return to their homeland. The extent of the damage the islands sustained is not yet known, but the evacuees are hopeful. ©2006 Gnidrah News, Inc. |
