The Secretary General rushed back into the room. "This has just happened!" he exclaimed. He turned on the television projector, which immediately displayed chaos and horror. From a great distance, news crews were reporting on the recent attack on East Malasyia, by the West Malaysian space fleet. The results of that attack could be seen from miles away, as a heavily populated East Malaysian city was ablaze. "We have to get in there and help these people!" he continued. He immediately opened a communications link between the EAF Director, the Humanitarian Director, and the assembly. "Humanitarian Director: send a mass humanitarian group to provide immediate aid to any survivors. Director Lewis: deploy a unit to accompany the humanitarian group. EPTO Intelligence is reporting a window of opportunity for our teams to enter, and I believe this is the best opportunity ever if we are to make a good difference, in support of our fellow member nation, East Malaysia." He finally took a sip of his water, and went on, "I know it is a dangerous task. But I believe we would be doing a disservice to our friend and ally if we did not come to their immediate aid. I would go as far as to say we would be doing more harm than good, by hiding rather than showing our support. After all, what is the organization if we just talk of our actions? We must act out these actions. Besides, intelligence reports the West Malaysian fleet is being attacked, even more so now that the enemy has taken innocent lives. This is just the distraction and ultimate window of opportunity we need. Let us take it! You have your orders, directors." |

Lewis nodded. "Confirmation confirmed, sir. We'll get to work on a tactical plan." Lewis turned, still viewable on the computer screen, too look at someone offscreen. "Confirmation is confirmed, Roger." "You sure?" "Roger." "What?" "Roger." "What?" "No, as in, Roger." "What." "As in, Roger that, Roger." "Oh, right." There was a pause. "By the way, who's on communications?" "Who is." "I'm..asking you." "No, no, who is." "How should I know?" "Because I'm telling you who is." "Who is?" "Who." "What?" "No, he's on armory today." "Huh?" ________________________________________________________________________________ The FPS Representative, across the room, smiled. "About time." He said to himself quietly. |

As the Secretary General played the newscast showing the devastation in Eastrovia, Hayes made a quick call. Once Director Lewis had finished speaking, Hayes, phone still to his ear, spoke into his microphone. "Third base?" Realizing what he'd said, he put the cell phone down as if he'd been bitten. "Excuse me. Something totally unrelated." He continued, "In consultation with the President of Kangarawa, in addition to the aid sent by the Humanitarian Wing of the EPTO, two companies of the Army Engineering Corps, and twelve MASH units will be departing Kangarawa within the next 15-20 minutes heading for Eastrovia. The four modified Boeing 777-300ER's carrying them will be protected by 12 F-18F Super Hornets. An aeriel tanker will accompany them so that the F-18E's can refuel enroute. Provided they go in low enough, and with the West Malaysians otherwise engaged temporarily, they may get through undetected. In addition, the plans are being worked out for the most efficient means of transporting at least one division of troops, along with necessary support and supplies. One can only hope that they will be needed in a peace-keeping capacity. As I said before, any nation that needs to can direct additional supplies and aid to Kangarawa, and we will do our damnedest to see that they get through. If there has been no response as yet from the Wachovians, is their any possibility of using the nation of Codex as a base of operations?" |

(OOC: And I'm classically LATE, as always...) Damn it, he was running late... Vern Pheipher, the replacement representative from Xiopothos, looked at his watch and impatiently tapped his foot on the FPS transit bus floor. With Xiopothos just recently recovering from a war and the previous representative being found brutally murdered a few months ago, his nation was understandably slow to get moving again in EPTO. Even so, under the circumstances in East Malaysia, Vern thought it a bit of an irony that Xiopothos was being so to act. With all the diplomatic tape and tack flowing around in the region currently, one would think that the Xiopothans would be right in the middle of it. But no, they just had to take a backseat role, and now, there were reports of some foreign power using a weapon on Eastrovia. Oy, what a mess, what a mess indeed... Vern stepped out of the buss as it stopped before the EPTO HQ, and then the representative himself ran inside the building, making a dash for the meeting hall room. With a sudden pushing of the door opn, he burst into the room in a rush, huffing from obvious fatigue. Vern's eyes moved over the room's occupants, stopping at the Secretary-general and taking the time to straighten himself out. He must look like the village idiot to these men... "I'm sorry I didn't arivve earlier, Mr. Secretary-general sir," He tried to explain, nervously tugging at his shirt collar. "It's just that the Xiopothan government was attending to national matters, and they have now managed to finally send me after much long nights at the office. What's the situation? I've been hitching a ride on FPS public transit since 7:00 this morning heading over here from up north, and there was no way I could obtain any news in that timeframe. I'm also terribly sorry that I was late." |
![]() "Xiopothos: All your base are belong to us!" The Treaty of Rillianon has been signed... the war is over! Huzzah! "Er...as a sidenote, although I obviously cannot limit voting, I ask that people vote only if they have ACTUALLY READ MY BRIEFS, as opposed to simply following instructions from Pack to "vote for the hive." -Free Pacific States, on the FPS election | |

"I'll bet you it was that damned 6720 bus." The FPS Aide stated. Next to him, the representative nodded. "I tell ya, they really need to fire that driver..." The two quieted suddenly, realizing the entire room was looking at them. After a moment, the FPS Representative cleared his throat. "Um, right, the situation." He took a breath, wishing he had an updated intelligence report. Turning, he looked at his aide. "Darrel, go see if the EPTO Intelligence Offices have an updated packet." "Will do." The aide turned and left, leaving the Representative, who quickly took a drink of water before speaking. "Although of great significance, the situation is rather simple, Representative. Late last night, the damaged remnants of an East Malyasian fleet jumped into system, and limped back to East Malyasia. Over the night, East Malyasian and Kandarinese Fleets jumped into system, taking up defensive positions over East Malyasia." "This morning, a fleet of West Malyasian ships jumped into system, and without provocation, attacked the East Malyasians. I should note, we do believe this to have been the second occurance of such an unprovoked attack, the first having taken place before the damaged EM Fleet jumped into system last night." "In any case, at this point, the Kandarinese and East Malyasian Fleets fully engaged, doing their best to destroy the West Malyasian fleet. As the battle continued, several other fleets, including those of the Pax and Mechans, joined the battle on EM's side. A few moments ago, a second West Malyasian Fleet decloaked, and one of the ships proceeded to fire upon a residential area of Eastrovia." "In response, this assembly has authorized the EPTO Humanitarian Wing to do whatever it can to assist the people of East Malyasia, and has authorized the EAF to send whatever it feels necesary to protect the Humanitarian Workers, and if necesary and possible, the civilian populace of East Malyasia." The FPS Representative took a breath, his face having gone a little blue. "And, that's about it. Unless someone else has something to add?" |

After several moments, the FPS Aid returned, putting a stack of folders in front of the FPS Representative, and then whispering into his ear. After a moment, the FPS Representative nodded, and leaned forward to speak into my microphone. "Fellow representatives, the following information, which my aide is about to distribute, comes directly from the EPTO Intelligence Bureau." He took a breath. "According to said information, the West Malyasians have disarmed, and are reqeuesting peace negotiations." Letting a smile spread across his lips, the FPS Rep continued. "In light of this, I motion that we turn this whole mess over to the EAF and EPTO Humanitarian Branch for managment, and bring this emergency meeting to an end." |
