President Im has re-affirmed to the Grand Committee that his Kelssek trip in 2009 is purely a personal visit instead of being business related. President Im has also re-affirmed that he did not use taxpayer's money to fund any of his trips, although Mr Ai claimed that an e-mail from Mr Hyun suggested that the President should take money from the taxpayer to pay for the trips. President Im strongly denies this. Although strong criticisms of the yacht trip to Kelssek was made by the Conservative Party MLAs, a Special House Committee pursued the case for only a week and the Lower House did not call for a Grand Committee Hearing, one step above the Special Committee. Mr Ai has also claimed that President Im had used taxpayer's money to fund the construction of the monasteries. President Im has defended his role in arresting blind activist Chen Guolong when speaking to the Grand Committee. Mr Chen was arrested in May for releasing over 1000 documents online before briefly escaping house arrest and hid himself at the Dannistrian embassy. The Chairperson of the Grand Committee Hearings, Conservative MLA Darrell Ai Sha has released all of the media which the President found high objectionable, including documents, e-mails and phone conversations from various personel of the Im administration. Mr Ai gave highlights of what was found in these leaked media: -An e-mail from Mr Chung, an intern of your administration, had suggested that he wanted to conduct a citizen's arrest on Prime Minister Lin. -A document published in July 2007 suggested that then-Interim Admin Kim Ki Moon has been deliberately been poisoned in favour of a more amenable interim admin. -An e-mail from SPDR, that Dannistrian company, circa 2011. They are calling for the property tax to be levied in and be exempted from all of the provisions in the austerity package. -Another e-mail from an unknown sender, suggests that far-right lobbyists supported the coup of the Im administration. -A telephone conversation between two Labour councillors. They advocated the mass intimidation of all Conservative voters. President Im has strongly defended his actions to detain Mr Chen, citing the Bai Lung Government Media Secrecy Act 2009 which places a gagging order on all members of the public from accessing all government data 150 years after its original publication. President Im also slammed the Conservatives for their hypocrisy, claiming they would also have Mr Chen arrested if documents related to a Conservative President was leaked online.
The Grand Committee will interview key personel of the Im administration associated with the documents on Day 15. |

With only one month before his term expires, he is the first President of Bai Lung to resign. Rumours of an Im resignation were sparked after the Marxist Party leader asked Marxist Senators not to vote in the impeachment process. Had they voted, Im would have enough votes to be acquited on top of all the Labour Senate votes. The Conservative controlled Lower House, voted in favour of impeachment and it was voted on by party lines: 290-215. Speaking before the nation, President Im did not make direct references to the framing of outspoken MLA Darrell Ai Sha by using his wife Celina Im and reporting a rape case, as well as using his eldest son Donald, in an attempt to derail the Grand Committee Hearings, of which Mr Ai is the chairperson, nor did he make direct references to the Grand Committee Hearings. President Im had only made very light references to the impeachment trials. He had stated that he does not have the support to continue with his work as President. He has appealed to the public that the country needs a full time President and a full time Assembly in order to function as a democracy. The President has named Secretary of State Zhou Minlang to be the next President of Bai Lung. His tenure, however, would only last for over a month as the Presidential elections would take place on the 1st of July and the President-elect would be sworn in on the 31st July. Rumours are now circulating that President-elect Zhou is likely to grant the outgoing President a pardon which would prevent the Assembly from continuing with the impeachment process. Shortly after President Im gave the speech, he was seen entering into an unmarked helicopter were made its way to an unknown destination. Before President Im had formally announced his resignation, his approval ratings were in the single digits. Only 9% approved of his job while 89% disapproved. The speech in full:

The pardon also means Im cannot be charged for any previous crimes. He can, however, be charged for any future crimes and the pardon does not cover immunity for individuals who committ future crimes. The pardoning of the former president was amongst the most debated topics on the internet, as well as on TV. The highly outspoken Conservative MLA Darrell Ai Sha has called for Interim President Zhou to be summoned before the Grand Committee Hearing in the aftermath of pardoning former President Richard Im from all corrupt charges. Speaking outside the Conservative, Mr Ai has claimed he has enough support for another Grand Committee.
If the Assembly votes for a resolution in favour of another Grand Committee hearing, then Zhou would be the second President in Bai Lungese history to be called before a hearing. Labour MLAs, however, criticise the Grand Committee hearings as being a waste of money. President Zhou was strongly criticised for pardoning the former president of all crimes, past and present, alleged and confirmed. His approval ratings are currently very unfavourable to the public with only 26% giving the president a thumbs up. Both Conservative and C.Y Liang's political attack adverts depict Labour Presidential candidate Berty He as being a stooge to the Im administration and would continue the corrupt activities set out by his predecessors. The Labour Party posted a rebuttal to the attack adverts, depicting both Prime Minister Lin and C.Y Liang as being blood brothers and for supporting the Grand Committee hearings which is estimated to have costed at around $250,000 per session. |

A businessman convicted of setting his Chen Tai Soon mansion on fire in a desperate ploy to get out of his mortgage put his hands in his mouth, seemingly in shock, and collapsed after the verdict was read Thursday. He was offically pronounced dead on arrival. Marlon Ma, 55, had just been found guilty of arson in the popular holiday resort of Chen Tai Soon, a crime that would have put him away for a minimum of 10 years. About 5 minutes after learning his fate, a video showed him covering his mouth swallowing, Moments later, he turned and spoke to the people behind and grabbed a tissue from his lawyer. He appeared as if he was crying, but his body twisted into violent convulsions. 15 minutes later, Ma was put into an ambulance and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The NBLPF are currently investigating whether poison was the cause of his death.
Mr Ma is one of several high profile cases that have involved businessmen poisoning themselves moments after being found guilty of committing crimes of fraud. In March 2012, a businessman named Chu Ing-Hua poisoned himself with a white powdery substance, the very same poison which was used to poison former interim admin Kim Ki-Moon. The alleged perpetrator, Yao Ma, later hung himself while being detained. |

All 3 major candidates are making a last minute appeal to voters as the upcoming 2012 Presidential election takes place tomorrow. They are making a bid to succeed Interim President Zhou, who is filling the remainder of former President Im's term. Berty He, Prime Minister Lin and C.Y Liang have spent BL$1.5 billion between them, making this election the most expensive in Bai Lungese history. All 3 candidates have travelled a total of 250,000 miles between them, taking flights between Mao island and the Mainland, appealing to constituents to vote for their cause. Both Liang and PM Lin broadcasted attack adverts portraying He as subservient to the Im administration because of his frequent defense of Im's alleged corrupt policies, in particular his attempted arrests of outspoken Conservative MLA Darrell Ai Sha. Marxist Party supporters are urging voters to cast a spoiler vote as an alternative to what they see as '3 fatally flawed choices'. The son of a policeman, Mr Liang has also become the first President of Bai Lung not to have a party affiliation. Turnout for the 2012 Presidential election has surpassed that of the 2008 Presidential election with over 83% turnout, compared to 72% in 2008. It has also surpassed all previous turnouts for any leadership election, Interim Admin or Presidential. The Interim Admin election of 2007 when candidates Kim Ki Moon and Yao Mao campaigned to fight for the top job received a then-record breaking 76% of voter turnout. Both C.Y Liang and Prime Minster Lin both framed the Presidential campaign as a testament to the corrupt activities of President Im, who resigned last week after he used his wive Celina and eldest son Donald to frame the outspoken Conservative MLA Darrell Ai Sha. Both Conservative candidates connected Berty He to the Im administration and his unabashed defence of his boss' actions. Mr Liang, 57, attacked both PM Lin and He as lacking in real policies. Prime Minister Lin painted Mr Liang as a spoiler vote to the Conservative vote. Mr He spent most of the campaign promoting the positive policies that President Im placed instead of attacking Mr Liang or PM Lin for their conservative policies. At a total cost of BL$1.5 billion spent between the three major candidates, it is the most expensive Presidential election to date. Mr Liang's victory had taken political pundits by surprise despite early reports that Prime Minister Lin had a small lead over the grassroots candidate early on the day. Mr Liang was declared President-elect when he secured 57.4% of the popular vote while Prime Minister Lin got 32.6%. The Labour MLA backbencher only received 2% of the vote with the remainder 8% of votes were invalid votes. It is widely reported that many of the spoiled votes had 'Sun Ju-Bai' written on them, the former Marxist leader. On Friday, the current leader of the Marxist party Jonnie Ting has told voters not to cast their for any of the 3 major candidates, instead opting to write down the name of his predecessor, who was arrest back in January for holding a birthday parade to mark what would have been the 93rd birthday of the late Stalinist dictator Chen Jong Sun. The 2012 Presidential election proved to be Labour's worst result for any President elections, representing a 96% drop in votes. Most pundits are now speculating that the drastic drop in votes are a backlash against the Im administration. Mr Liang has won the popular vote for all regions of Bai Lung except the south where Prime Minister Lin claimed victory with 54% of the vote, compared to Liang's 38%. Mr Lin was the early favourite amongst the electorate but a series of gaffes and scandals hurted his chances.. Mr Liang was at his election campaign HQ where he gave a short speech thanking the Bai Lungese people for electing him.
Both Prime Minister Lin and Berty He gave concession speeches and at the same time, congratulated Mr Liang on his victory. PM Lin made no mention of resigning as PM.
Mr Liang will assume the Presidency on 31st July. The results: C.Y Liang - 57.4% Frederic Lin - 32.6% Berty He - 2% Invalid Votes - 8% |

A man has been arrested on suspicion of vandalising the offices of President-elect C.Y Liang. Police were called onto the scene today at 1230 when a man wearing a black baseball cap with black jumpsuit was seen spraying graffiti onto the entrance door of the Independent Conservative's office. He allegedly spraying the slogan 'Justice for the 8%', a reference to the 8% of votes being deemed invalid by the electoral commission. This outcome produced heavy protests from the Marxist Party, who contend that the 8% are write-in votes, which are permitted under the Bai Lungese constitution. The High Court Justices unanimously voted to dismissed any recall elections. The suspect willingly handed himself to the police where he was indentified as 22 year old Kang Ki-Ho. Mr Kang also claims to be a member of the Left Coalition, the behind the efforts for a recall election. |

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() Zhou Minlang bans Marxist leader from travelling for 1 month. Interim President Zhou has imposed a 1 month travelling ban on the leader of the Marxist Party Jonnie Ting. Releasing a short statement, the President has claimed that the Marxist leader may have been responsible for the high levels of graffiti throughout Pyongjing, in particular, ones which have the "Justice for the 8%' tag. The ban means that Mr Ting is unable to make any overseas trip for any reason and is largely confined to his constituency of Ganshi district. Critics of the imposed ban, especially from the left, have claimed that President Zhou has merely imposed the 1 month ban for political gain as Mr Ting was due to travel to Dannistaan and attend the Communist Party Conference on the 27th July. |

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() Police. Former Marxist Senate Leader threatens President-elect C.Y Liang with stool. ![]() The former Marxist Senate Leader Chen Dong Gun was detained by police after he brandished a stool at President-elect C.Y Liang (Pictured above, middle) during a protest against the 57 year old in Huang Da Shen district of Pyongjing. Earlier, the Interim President's Press Secretary Kari Lin Yuan-Guan was taken away by police as scuffles and noisy protests marred the third round of town-hall style meetings organised by the Zhou interim Presidency. In both instances, the protesters were speaking against the lack of tranparency in the Bai Lungese political system and see both Zhou and Liang as being the same. Gifford Ren Sen-Tao, 33, was seen tackling a protester who was chasing Lin's care she left her "meet the people" session in Bok Chun. Police confirmed last night that they were investigating an assault report, but no-one had been charged. Later, in Huang Da Shen district, dozens of raucous protesters, many of them activists from the Marxist Party, mobbed the Wang Bin Community Centre, where the President-elect was also holding a town hall meeting there where he was exchanging views with a full-house, 5,000 strong audience. On Liang's arrival, former Marxist Senate Leader Chen Dong Gun was forced back by police as he brandished a folding stool with the President-elect's photo and a banner demanding the Independent Conservative Liang not to assume the Presidency. The folding stool, according to the protesters, symoblised theirs for Liang to 'fold up'. Mr Chen lost his seat in the Senate because he was charged on suspicion of celebrating the birthday of former Stalinist dictator Chen Jong Sun. The then-President Im declared that all suspects cannot run for office or perform their duties in office. Once inside the venue, Mr Liang shook hands with a few protesters and received their petitions, as shouts of "Down Down C.Y." echoed around the hall. For Liang, it was almost a repeat of last Monday when he was forced to abandon a residents' meeting in Tian Men due to disruption by the Marxist Party's protesters.
It was reported that Liang had been advised against attending such meetings because it would be almost certain to draw protesters but had decided to go ahead nonetheless. Mr Liang and his designated Secretary of State Henry Robert 'H.R' Chiang took about 20 questions in yesterday's meeting. The Press Secretary encountered similar protests by the Marxist activists when she turned up at the Bok Chun Community Centre with Health Secretary, Dr Yi Quan. |
