President Liang has completely ruled out appropriating any funds made to the families of the Bai Lungese and Syrener coltan miners who clashed with each other last week at Fort Prospect, Auramont, Syrene. The intense riots killed 60 workers. Non-union Bai Lungese workers violently clashed with union Syrener counterparts, killing 35 Bai Lungese and 25 Syreners. Despite attempts to contain the two sides with reinforced fences, they ultimately collapse under the overwhelming numbers of workers. The proposed bill which would appropriate $1.5 million of additional spending by offering the families of the deceased workers compensation of $25,000 for each of the 60 men killed, is expected to be passed easily by the Conservative controlled Assembly. However, the President, who is a self-described Indepedent Conservative, has warned the Assembly that he would veto the expenditure if it reaches his desk. In his veto threat message, he echoed the message made by US President Grover Cleveland espousing limited government.

Labour MLA and Labour Presidential candidate Berty He has announced that he would step down as MLA with immediate effect, leaving the seat for Zibo vacant. Rumours emerged in the past 6 months that Mr He is having an affair with his secretary Mary-Jane Wu over the past 10 whilst he was residing in Kelssek and has fathered a 6 year old boy during that period. Speaking to the press, Mr He has confirmed that he had sexual relations with Ms Wu and apologised to his wife of 35 years and family for his irresponsible actions. He confirmed that he is the biological father of the young boy and had raised him in secret. A safe Labour seat, Zibo is unlikely to switch although the Conservative Party are capitalising on the affair of Mr He. This combined with several left-leaning parties announcing their run for the seat is likely to split the Labour and produce a Conservative victory. |

Over 22.5 million people marched in the streets of Pyongjing to pay tributes to the late Stalinist dictator Chen Jong Sun. Yesterday was the 6 years to the day that Chen died at the age of 87 due to kidney failure. Leaked autopsy reports last year confirms that Chen had a history of alcohol abusive and had died of alcohol poisoning. Since his death, Chen remains very controversial to many people and his those evaluating his legacy remains divisive. Those who view Chen, or Great Eternal Leader, favourably praised him for his policies such as free food rations for everyone and raising living standards. The most vociferous opponents critcised Chen for his brutal totalitarian regime which resulted in the deaths of 60-100 million people during his 44 year rule from 1962-2006. The tributes are the first of its kind since the military junta briefly took control of the country last year, banning all tributes. Today's tributes exceeded that of previous tributes since 2007. A weakened form of the original Bai Lung Anti-Dictator Act was put in place last year forbade anyone from displaying a photo of Chen larger than A3 sized paper under any circumstances and any images smaller than A4 is only allowed under exceptional circumstances. People bypassed this by drawing an accurate re-production of Chen's face, then photocopying that re-production several time. Many waved placards like 'Put Im in the oven', a reference to the then-President Im burning the body of the embalmed dictator last year. The same people were shortly arrested for hate speech. |

The High Court of Bai Lung has warned President Liang, who took office in July 31st, not to enact any anti-dictator laws or they will nullify the entire law if it reaches his desk. President Liang has delivered a rebuttal to the High Court justices to leave the fate of all subsequent laws to the general public. The statement comes a day after Chief Justice Raymond Hong has threatened to strike down any laws that ban glorification of past rulers, claiming such laws impinge freedom of speech. A current Anti-Dictator law was passed last year but is extremely ineffective as it allows photo reproduction of past leaders in anything smaller than A4 sized paper. President Liang has criticised in what he calls 'rampant judicial activism' and has called for the powers of the judges to be trimmed slightly, banning them from striking down laws and instead initiating referendums whether or not these law should be repealed or upheld by the public. A spokesman for Chief Justice Hong has yet to release a statement in reaction to President Liang's rebuttal. |

BLCTV News polling has the Labour Party likely to pick up around 60-70 seats in the Lower House for the 2012 Legislative Elections on 6th November. This would mean the Labour Party would take control of the house for the first time since 2010. 19% of those surveyed have only given favourable ratings for the Conservative controlled Lower House. This is one of the lowest approval ratings in Bai Lungese history. Only the 12% approval rating to the then-Labour controlled Lower House had worse approval ratings. The Labour Party are also likely to pick up 10 seats in the Senate, also taking control of the upper chamber too. Legendary pornographer Larry Fu has donated BL$100,000 to the Conservative Party as they began a campaign to retain control in over 50 councils throughout the country. Mr Fu, 68, had founded In-N-Out Production in 1971 while he was living in Dannistaan. A man who rarely gives interviews, Fu is a regular donor and a staunch supporter of the Conservative Party. Self-identifying as a libertarian, he strongly criticised the Labour Party as a far-left communist party and had supported Prime Minister Lin in his Presidential bid. Mr Fu has donated over BL$2.5 million in donations and his BL$100,000 is his biggest donation to date. The late Interim Administration candidate Yao Ma is suspected of murdering 20 other people, all male, during the years 2003-2006. The younger brother of Mr Yao, Yao Myong-Ho, has revealed that Mr Yao was a 'cleaner' for the Stalinist ruler Chen Jong Sun. A cleaner is slang for a state sanctioned assassin who is hired to kill dissidents and suspected traitors of the Chen regime. Mr Yao was assigned 15 assignments over the period of 3 years from 2003-2006. All of the victims were male and none of them were killed by gunshot. Many of the targets were hanged, defenestrated or drowned. Yao Myong-Ho claimed that his fondness of the poisonous white powdery substance came from a 2003 assignment when he was ordered to poison 5 Generals who were suspected of conspiring to overthrow Chen. Ironically, the assassination took place in the Kowloon restaurant where the-then Kim Ki Moon was poisoned with the white powdery substance. Mr Yao successfully poisoned and killed 3 generals while the 4th general, later indentified as terrorist group Free Bai Lung leader Ryu Ho Bian who exiled himself to Free Pacific States. The 5th general did not turn up at the restaurant but was later killed in June 2005 when another clean shot him in the head. In June 2007, Mr Yao had faced an intense Interim Administration election with his rival Kim Ki Moon with Mr Kim winning the race by a margin of 51.9%. 6 days later, Mr Kim was poisoned by the aforementioned arsenic and rat poison mixture. Mr Yao was arrested on suspicion of poisoning the interim admin. Both died at the same day on 10th August 2007 with Mr Yao hanging himself in prison. There has been serious debate whether Mr Yao murdered the 20 dissidents or whether he is the one who poisoned Mr Kim. Some people speculate that Mr Yao hanged himself because he was said to have fallen into a depression after the poisoning incident. |

A man armed with a replica pistol has fired at President Liang at close range while he was opening a bridge in the north of the country. Footage of the incident filmed on phones shows the president recoiling slightly but carrying on with the visit apparently unhurt. President Liang was taken to hospital but suffered only minor bruising. His security detail has come in for harsh criticism for allowing the man to get so close to the president. It is also unclear why the president's bodyguards failed to react when a gun was pulled on him. The attacker, who was dressed in camouflage clothing, pushed his way through a crowd in the town of Chen Tai Soon before firing the weapon at the President. The weapon was of the sort that is used in "airsoft" gaming. The man was briefly interviewed by the media and said he was a 29-year-old sympathiser of the Stalinist Chen Jong Sun regime. He said he had carried out the attack because the Liang administration was deaf to the concerns of ordinary people. The man was arrested by police shortly afterwards. |

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() Mayor of Zibo: Restore estate tax on super rich. Ronnie Ding, Mayor of Zibo, has called for the re-introduction of the estate tax in the 2nd day of the Marxist Party annual conference. The wealth tax was abolished in August when the Conservative controlled Assembly voted to remove the tax. It was passed in the lower but the Upper Senate struggled to gather an enough votes to overcome the Left Coalition. The Lower House used the Assembly Act to override the fillibuster and the bill was signed by President Liang. The estate tax is a flat rate of 30% for any estate that has a total value of over $500,000. Proponents of the abolition of the tax argue that it is inefficient and produces no revenue. Mr Ding has slammed the recent abolition of the estate tax by claiming it favours only the wealthiest earners. He cited the recent death of FoxTrot CEO Terry Chen's cousin has allowed to claim over $1.1 million of his cousin's estate without paying a penny of taxes. |
