The Secretary of Labour Chun Do-Ma said Wednesday that a rescue effort has been mounted. BLCTV News reported that another 58 miners safely escaped the accident. The Cho An Jang mine, which is owned by FoxTrot, has had a long reputation for being one of the deadliest mines in the country. Despite attempts to increase the well being of the workers through legislative actions during the 2007 Chen An Jong mining incident, the death toll has only decreased by 3% last year. The CEO of FoxTrot Terry Chen faced heavy criticisms from the left after he privately declared to Prime Minister Lin that he would like to see the repeal of the safety laws, calling it 'anti-business'. Mr Chen also donated BL$52,000 to PM Lin during the 2012 Presidential elections, further attracting criticisms. China is one of the largest producers of coal in the EP, which generates about two-thirds of its energy needs. |

A Conservaitve councillor from Chongkim has reportedly blamed Dannistrian-owned media organisations for his imprisonment for dangerous driving. The Conservative Party has suspended Chen Ye-Hao while it investigates the comments reported in the Bai Lung Morning Post. The councillor, who received a 3 year jail sentence back in December 2011 for sending a text message shortly before his car was involved in a fatal crash, said Dannistrian owners of "newspapers, TV channels and radios" had put pressure on the Court of Appeal, according to the newspaper. Mr Chen referred to the Dannistrians as 'militant Chappies'. Mr Chen has declined to comment. In a statement, the Conservative Party said it "deplores and does not tolerate any sort of racism including the racial slur against Dannistrians". "We will be seeking to clarify these remarks as soon as possible," the statement added. Mr Chen is reported to have made the comments in a radio interview, thought to have been broadcast in March last year, just 1 months after he was released from prison. Mr Chen was jailed for 3 years in December 2011 after sending and receiving text messages while driving. He was freed by the High Court after serving 1 month of the sentence because of "exceptional" mitigation relating to his community work. He had been involved in a fatal crash minutes after sending the messages on Christmas Day 2010. He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving but did not face the more serious charge of causing death by dangerous driving because no causal link could be established between his texts and the crash. A musical loosely based on the Chen Jong Sun regime has been met with an overwhelmingly negative reception. The musical, Life Under the Hammer and Sickle, which premiered on thhe 18th March has been described by theatre critic Allen Wu as 'the worst musical that I have ever sat through in the 45 years of my existance: everything from top to bottom was atrocious in the worst conceivable way possible. A totally unforgiving experience for me and the poor souls who put up with this tripe.' Theatre goers complained about the actor's performance, in particular their singing abilities which is described as being off-key. The costumes was also met with severe criticisms as they were allegedly bought from people who previously worked in the ISB, although the theatre directors The ISB is the secret police organisation that existed under the Chenite regime. Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() Labour Secretary faces criticism over poverty comments. Labour Secretary Chun Do-Ma has been blasted by critics over his comments on poverty in Bai Lung. On Thursday morning, Mr Chun was speaking at a Town Hall meeting in New Jian Sha Zui to discuss with local constituents about the economy of Bai Lung. It is there when he suggested that there is no poverty crisis in the country. The whole event was captured on a mobile phone. According to the Poverty Awareness Centre, 13.4% of the population are living under the national poverty line. This marks a slight jump from 13.2% in 2011. Poverty peaked in 2007 when 35% of the population were below the poverty line and at a time when the Bai Lungese-Dannistrian war took place, toppling the Nationalist Junta government. Interim administrations enacted welfare programs, allowing the rate to drop dramatically between 2008-2011. Critics from the left were quick to criticise Mr Chun for his comments, painting him as an insensitive and uncaring person who puts special interest groups over people. Marxist leader Jonnie Ting went as far as to call Mr Chun a 'stone cold crazy fool.' In the wake of Mr Chun's comments, the Budget Office of Bai Lung has advocated a 25% spending increase in Housing Allowances for the 40-65 million homeless. They estimated that investing BL$1 in Housing Allowance would return BL$3.5. Mr Chun responded to the criticisms by simply stating that there is no poverty crisis like the one during the Bai Lungese-Dannistrian War of 2007. |

Bai Lungese Customs today swooped on an illicit cigarette storehouse used by a large telephone ordering syndicate and seized over one hundred million sticks of illicit cigarettes valued at over BL$10 million. During the operation, Customs officers arrested three core members of the cigarette smuggling run aged from 28 to 35. There is a rising trend of smuggling cigarettes into the country by organised criminal gangs. Pundits speculate that such activities are triggered by the increased taxation on all tobacco products in every government budget since 2008, averaging 10 cents each year. The High Court has jailed a man for ten years for raping a woman who'd taken an overdose in an attempt to kill herself. The rape took place in May last year when Chen Man-hee found the victim lying in an unresponsive state in a park after she'd swallowed more than 100 pills in a suicide attempt, BLCTV reports. The court heard that the defendant wheeled the victim on a trolley to a quiet place where he raped her. He was caught in the act by two security guards, but he did not stop at once, claiming instead that he was having sex with his drunken girlfriend. In handing down sentence, Justice Raymond Hong said the offence was very serious. He noted that when the defendant found the semi-conscious woman, instead of seeking medical help for her, he raped her. The defendant was found guilty by a jury. |

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() Two people arrested over anti-President Liang poster. Two people have been arrested by police after they were involved in a brawl over a poster plastered in Pyongjing Central Station that sharply criticised President Liang and Prime Minister Lin. The two men, who held differing views in the government of Bai Lung, argued whether a poster which showed President Liang and Prime Minister Lin juxtoposed with the image of former Stalinist dictator Chen Jong Sun with the caption: 'We can't tell the difference...Can you? Stop the persecution of fishers'. The poster, which was issued by the National Fisheries Association, informs the public that there is no real difference between the Prime Minister, the President or the late dictator. The poster tells the public to support the fishing industry after the Senate passed a fishing cap limit. The bill is up for vote in the Lower House. Initially a war of words, the argument escalated into a fist-fight in which both men tried to throttle each other. Police had intervened seconds after the men began fighting. A policeman was also injured at the scene, sustaining a nose injury. |

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() Former East Dannistaan FM Kelly Minn'ow-Jones dies after a severe stroke. The former First Minister of East Dannistaan Kelly Minn'ow-Jones has died at the age of 48 after suffering from an intense stroke. According to her eldeest son David, Ms Minn'ow-Jones was staying at his house after running away from authorities over her role as FM. The former FM was well known for her uncompromising Dannistrian, right-wing, nationalist views who blamed Bai Lungese immigrants and their children for taking Dannistrian jobs and for propogating Communism in the country. Born in 1965 to Dannistrian parents, Ms Jones was said to nationalist parents who opposed Britiish rule in the country. She had a difficult child-hood, catching measles at age 4. She studied at For'af University in 1982 but dropped out of her studies because of the civil war. Serving as Depute FM for 6 years, she became the youngest FM in East Dannistrian history in the year 2005. She attempted to curb Bai Lungese immigration and cut taxes for Dannistrians. She lost to the Conservative Party in the 2007 snap elections. However, her party took back the East Dannistrian state legislature in 2010 but was ousted by members of her own party. In February, Ms Jones is accused of corruption during her tenure as FM and is wanted by the Dannistrian central government for "Administrative Irregularities" and "Illegal Detention". It is unknown if David Minn'ow-Jones, 23, will be arrested for his role. Edited by Bai Lung, Apr 9 2013, 09:00:24 PM.
