The former First Minister of East Dannistaan Kelly Minn'ow-Jones has posted a video blasting all reports of her apprent death from a stroke. Lasting 5 minutes, the video blog marks the end of a self-imposed silence and exile since February when a Federal Warrant was issued by the Central Government for what is being described as "Administrative Irregularities" within the Minn'ow-Jones government including the unauthorised selling of gold reserves in East Dannistaan. Filmed in an undisclosed location, Ms Jones blames the 'Communist media' for wishing for her death whilst criticising their hypocrisy such as allegedly mourning the death of Stalinist dictator Chen Jong Sun whilst celebrating the death hoax of Minn'ow Jones herself. Ms Jones went to on to call the Prime Minister of Dannistaan a 'far-left traitor who should be tried before the people' and has called for snap elections to be held nationwide. She has called for the Dannistrian Central Government to drop all allegations placed on her and allow her to re-establish contact with her eldest son, David. |

A former top government adviser to former President Richard Im believes it's unlikely electoral college votes will be introduced for the next President election in 2017. Liu Xiao-kwan said the Liang administration, Prime Minister Lin and the Conservative controlled Upper Senate and Lower House are so adamantly against the idea of electing a president through electoral college votes. Any proposals made by the opposition Labour Party which would introduce the reforms would be fillibustered and eventually voted down in both chambers of the Assembly. In 2011, the Labour Party introduced a bill which would eliminate the direct election of the President and move towards an electoral college system in which a group of electors elect a candidate to a particular office. Proponents of the election college system say that it would make future elections more competitive by increasing representation of 3rd parties through the electoral college system. Opponents of the scheme claim such a system undermines democracy especially in post-Chenite Bai Lung. President Liang has re-affirmed his intention to run again in 2017. He will be barred from serving more than two terms should he win the 2017 election. |

A 50 year old woman has caused a massive controversy amongst the Bai Lungese community after she claims that she was raised by monkeys. Kim Myong-Bai, an unwanted orphan, said on Talk Bai Lung that she remembered being snatched by a group of chimpanzees native to Deng island when she was 5 years old. Ms Kim was then living alongside these monkeys for the next 6 years, becoming feral as she eats and learns their ways. When she was discovered by humans in 1974, the-then Chenite regime used her as entertainment much akin to a monkey in a circus.
Ms Kim did not tell her story almost 40 years later when a child went missing this year in Deng Island. It is suspected that the child was snatched by chimpanzees. Reaction to Ms Kim's story was negative amongst the Bai Lungese community, calling her story a total fraud and blasting her for desperately seeking attention. |

Prime Minister Lin is facing heavy criticisms after it was emerged that he used taxpayers money to purchase a case of expensive wine from Listonia. The wine is valued at up to BL$1,500 a bottle whilst a case of 5 bottle is offered at a discounted price of BL$7,000. PM Lin had reportedly used the surplus travelling expenses he had accrued in the past 2 years. According to Conservative Party members, the case of wines were bought as a present for his wife's 55th birthday. The Labour Party has blasted Conservative economic policy at a time when the nation is hard pressed on finding additional revenues to close up the budget deficit which stands at 3.8% GDP. The public where sharply divided when the Secretary of Treasury Jack Liang King-Hua had announced across the board income tax cuts for the fiscal year 2013-14. The top income tax rate is now 50%, down from 60% and the carbon tax has been completely abolished after then-President Richard Im enacted the tax in 2009. The wine bottle purchase, as well as the controversy of PM Lin's illegally-constructed wine attic in 2012 has renewed calls for him to step down with members of the Labour Party being the most vocal critics. However, the Labour leader Li An Ying has stated that it is up to the affairs of the Conservative Party on whether Lin should step down. |

The government's been urged to introduce a Low Income Family Subsidy to help tens of thousands of poor working families who have children to support. The call was made by Poverty Reduction Centre after a long-term study it's been carrying out showed that many of these poor working families were often worse off then those receiving benefits, BLCTV reports. The monthly income of the top earners in Bai Lung is equivalent to 30 months of work for the lower income families, PRC finds. Many Conservative backbenchers, including the highly vocal Darrell Ai Sha, have dismissed the report as a 'leftist paid body whose real agenda is to increase the size of government'. Mr Ai had called for low income families to look to private charity instead of 'relying on the state for handouts.'. He has also blamed families for propagating laziness within themselves instead of working hard as a way to earn more money. Edited by Bai Lung, May 1 2013, 04:05:25 PM.

The Liang administation has rejected calls by Conservative MLA backbenchers to ban subsequent May Day celebrations. In a short statement released by President Liang, he emphasised making priorities to fixing the nation's economy over approving legislation which would ban trade unions or May Day celebrations. Conservative MLA bachbencher Darrell Ai Sha, known for his vocal socially conservative views, has put forward a draft legislation dubbing itself the Public Holidays Reform Act 2013. If passed throw both chambers, May Day would no longer be recognised as a public holiday, reducing the total of public holidays from 20 to 19. While the rejection of May Day celebration ban is a sign of relief amongst the political left, they did criticise President Liang's plans to relegate minimum wage laws to local councils. They contend that Conservative controlled councils would deliberately cap wages to BL$2 per day in their area. Conservative MLAs have dismissed these claims, stating it would increase compeition in the local economy. |

Mayor Tsing, a Labour Party elected official, went on to accuse the six councillors, all of whom are from the opposing Conservative Party, of wasting taxpayer's money to slow down any meetings held between him and the other councillors. He stated that he did not object to their opposition to his policies, such as his plans to increase council tax by 0.25% for high income earners, but said that they should engage in a debate rather than use childish tactics to grind the debate to a halt. According to a survey held by Think Green, over 75% of those interviewed admitted that they do not recycle their bags for subsequent trips to the market whilst less than 10% actually recycle. The Conservative Party, who controlled both chambers of the Assembly, have no plans to introduce legislation which would require all supermarkets to impose a surcharge on shopping bags. Conservative MLA backbencher Darrell Ai Sha, is vocal on the issue, accusing Think Green of being a 'paid far-leftist organisation, bankrolled by the Marxist'. Mr Ai said that although litter is a problem, he explained that it is a council and individual matter that could be solved by individualism over government control. Labour Party MLA Carl Ming Te has accused the police of political persecution, after officers this morning arrested a protester for taking part in an illegal rally almost two years ago. Melanie Chen, a trainee accountant, had joined in a protest following the Chen Jong birthday march in 2012, in which hundreds of people marched to the Presidential Office building without police permission, BLCTV reports. Chen, who was sentenced to 5 years in prison for organising the illegal rally last week, says police probably made the latest arrest as a result of that verdict. |

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() New Kinmen manager to step down at the end of '12/'13 football season. The manager of New Kinmen Allen Wu is to step down at the conclusion of the 2012-2013 football season after only 3 years on the job. Mr Wu, who was head of the club from the 2009-2010 season, has blamed lack of empathy from senior board members and players dissenting with his orders. In May 2011, defender Joey Bong spat in the face of Mr Wu, calling him a 'fascist' after he was scheduled to be substituted by Joe Tang half-way through the New Kinmen Vs Pyongjing Central friendly. Mr Bong was fined BL$10,000 and given a 3 match ban. Mr Bong left the club 2 days after the ban. Despite his complaints of lack of empathy from players, several past footballers who have worked with him, including Mr Bong, have spoken out against Mr Wu's confrontational style as well as his emotional temperament. There were some positive aspects to Mr Wu's career including leading his team to win 15 major trophies during his 3 year tenure with his biggest achievement being the reigning champions of the Bai Lungese Premier Cup 2012. |
