Police have denied a request from Watson's Acting Firm to bail out comedian and actor Desmond Li jo-li for his role in performing a prank for tv show Happy Hour. Making a case for Mr Li's bail, WFA had argued that Mr Li's elderly man prank was completely harmless and there were no injuries nor deaths during the filming. They accused the police of double standards, such as granting bail to Wang Jiejing, a man who was suspected of murdering 3 prostitutes in a Pyongjing brothel. The police made a counter argument by stating that Mr Li's prank could pose a national threat to the people of Bai Lung and that terrorists could copy his stunt. Mr Li is reported to be transferred to Kinmen Prison, the country's most secure prison. Notable inmates include disgraced former Interim Admin Kobayashi Taro. An online petition was launched by fans of Happy Hour, calling for Mr Li to be freed. |

A group of parents have threatened to kill themselves and their handicapped children if the Liang administration continues to ignore their complaints against a special school. They claim their complaints of abuse against some teachers at Qiyoon School, Shenlin, Western Pyongjing are being ignored by the government, lawmakers and the school.
Lim jiehwa, chairwoman of the Qiyoon School parent-teacher group, said 10 parents and students have so far signed a petition to the government and the Department of Education. Lim said one of the alleged incidents happened last July when a female student left some food on her plate and was scolded by a male teacher who then forcibly opened her mouth and shoveled in the leftovers. In another case, a severely mentally retarded boy with cerebral palsy, surnamed Chen, was taken to hospital on February 27 with broken legs and arms. The school blamed the boy but his mother, believes it was the result of punishment. "We are very dissatisfied that the school only sent us a letter of comfort rather than an apology," said the mother, adding the school claimed compensation last month. The case was reported to Pyongjing Central police station on April 15th. The Education Department said it has discussed the matter with both parents and the school. Talks concerned additional support facilities when Chen returns to school. School principal Roland Yee said the school has investigated the case of the girl who was forced to eat her food and concluded that the teacher was "a bit aggressive in teaching." He refused to give further details due to privacy concerns. Yee has met with parents three times this week concerning future arrangements. He has announced that facilities will be upgraded to meet future needs for disabled children. |

A Dannistrian expatriate magazine editor has been fined BL$5,000 for spitting at a police officer after an alcohol-fuelled Christmas party last year, his lawyer said. Dannistrian born Piers Fang, 37, the editor of Bai Lung Airways in-flight magazine, was fined by a District judge yesterday after he pleaded guilty to the offense, said lawyer Tien Ai. “He has paid the fine in its entirety. There will be no follow-up unless the prosecution decides to appeal the decision,' Tien told BLCTV News. In his plea, Tien had told the court that Fang was “extremely remorseful, unconditionally apologetic and thoroughly ashamed for his conduct.’’ Tien added that Fang, who had been drunk at his company's Christmas party at a beach-side club, was not a frequent drinker and could not recall the December 10 incident. BLCTV News said two police officers found Famg, lying along the side of a road. He verbally abused the officers and was arrested. After being handcuffed, he spat at the face of Sergeant Tien Hwahong, the newspaper said. Besides the fine, Fang had faced a jail term of a minimum of five years. |

A Marxist MLA has been thrown out of the debating chamber after he threw a paper airplane at Prime Minister Lin. Carson Yang Chi-tien, 50, hurled the object at the Prime Minister over his objections towards Lin's plans to privatise Tsing Er National Park. Mr Yang, who represents Tsing Er in which the park is located in, has spoken out against the selling of parks in Bai Lung, claiming that all parks belong to the people and not to corporations. If sold to the highest bidder, Mr Yang claims that corporations will demolish the park and would build skyscrapers in the places where the parks used to be. Fenghua, a subsidiary of Dannistrian based construction company SDPR, has reportedly expressed interest in bidding for the space. Prime Minister Lin did not respond to the concerns addressed by Mr Yang, instead moving onto the subject of taxation. Mr Yang sat down on his down and it was at this point where he constructed his paper airplane. Mr Yang stood up again and shouted 'Prime Minister Lin!' before hurling the object at his direction. Conservative MLA Darrell Ai Sha tried to prevent Mr Yang from throwing it but it missed it's target, landing 5ft away from the Prime Minister. Mr Yang was taken away from the debating chamber not before he repeatedly chanted 'POWER TO THE PEOPLE!' whilst being escorted by 5 guards. The Speaker of the House Richard Myong will decide what punishment Mr Yang will receive. |

The entire delegation of Marxist politicians from the House and Senate have gathered outside of the Assembly of Bai Lung to hold a protest against Prime Minister Lin's plans to privatise 20 National Parks, as well as the the treatment of fellow Marxist MLA Carson Yang Chi-tien. Yesterday, Mr Yang was forcibily removed from the chamber after he threw a paper Prime Minister Lin in protest of the PM's plans to privatise Tsing Yi Park, a move seen by the PM as a deficit reduction package. However, the outspoken Marxist MLA claim that the plans would add to the budget deficit as it could potentially subsidise private ownership of the parks. He also spoke out against the privatisation plans because it did not reflect 'the will of the people'. Marxist politicians spent their day banging drums and throwing objects at an effigy of the PM, including paper planes, in reference to the aforementioned incident. The Committee of Legislature Procedures will make a decision whether or not to suspend Mr Yang. |

Police are currently looking for a stocky taxi driver who robbed his young female passenger of BL$250 and a set of jewelleries worth BL$2,000. The woman, identified only by her surname Cheng, got in the taxi in Pyongjing West at about 3am yesterday. She asked to be driven to her home at Chongqing Suburbs. As the taxi was climbing a hill on Yi Kong Road, the driver told Cheng, 27, he had dropped something and needed to retrieve it. He then stopped in a passing bay about 200 meters from her home and started searching the floor in the rear of the vehicle. The driver then pulled out a black plastic bag and covered the head of Cheng, who tried to struggle free but was pinned down and had plastic cuffs put on her wrists. He then ransacked her handbag, taking the cash and her jewelleries. As he was counting the money, Cheng jumped out of the taxi and ran into her building while struggling to remove the plastic bag. She alerted the security guards but by the time they ran out, the driver and taxi had gone. Cheng told police she had not made a note of the taxi license number but would recognize the driver, who appeared to be around 35 years old and on the fat side. Police revisited the scene at 11am and asked the principals of three nearby schools to surrender closed-circuit TV tapes recorded during the night. It was not immediately known whether the recordings showed the robbery, but police said last night the suspect was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. |

Ten jockeys were hurt and seven horses put down after a horrific ten-horse pileup stunned 25,000 racegoers at Napa Valley last night. The stomach-churning incident came in the second race as the field was about to negotiate the final turn. The leading horse, Lucky Dingo with local rider Ronnie Hong in the saddle, fell bringing down the following horse, Kiss the Bride ridden by Yang Lai, and three others near the tail end of the field, including the 3-1 race favorite, Bai Lung Forever, with 5 time champion jockey Dougie Wang in the saddle. Hong lay motionless for a minute before moving his legs. Yang sat up after a few seconds while Whyte appeared to be badly winded and was in a crouching position. Another local rider, Terry He, was moving but was still on his back while the fifth, John Tai, the last to fall, was on his feet and walked about. Hong and Yang were taken to the nearby Wang Bin Hospital and kept overnight for further medical examinations. The remaining eight riders involved in the incident were all examined by medical staff on course and did not require hospital treatment. |

The Lower House's only Green politician Caroline Tan Guoshen has started a 40 hour hunger strike in protests of the government's plan to expand the General Cho landfill site. Ms Tan and 500 supporters sat quietly outside the Assembly, waving placards in opposition to a BL$5 million expansion project to double the 15 acre site to a 30 acre by 2017. The General Cho is the largest landfill site in the hole of Bai Lung and is one of 250,000 sites located throughout the country. Ms Tan, who vowed only to drink small amounts of water, has warned the Liang administration that doubling the size of the site will not solve the rampant littering by the public. She has called for the goverment to abandon the plans and to initiate a recycling programme instead, arguing that it would only cost BL$1 million, a fifth of the cost to expand General Cho landfill site. Tan said she would continue to protest until she 'cannot physically protest any more'. Some Conservative MLAs are highly sceptical of the concept of recycling, with Chen Lai-Cao calling for further expansion of 100,000 landfill sites. |

More than 200 Kashgars, riding motorbikes and wielding machetes, attacked a military barrack in Dongmen, Bai Lung Dalu. The attack in the border city comes three days after one of the region's deadliest unrests this year that resulted in the deaths of 200 people. President Liang had declared the incident a 'terrorist attack'. Ethnic tensions between Bai Lungese and Kashgars poses a major challenge for Bai Lung's leaders, both past and present. Whilst former President Richard Im had negotiated with Kashgar Liberation Front members on withdrawing Bai Lungese settlements in predominately Kashgar cities like Uzbari, President Liang cancelled future talks with Kashgar leaders and appropriated BL$100 billion to expand Bai Lungese settlement of the region. In the latest incident, the Secretary of State Coby Cao said "troublemakers" gathered at Bischkek monasteries before riding on motorcycles to attack a military barrack in Northern Dongmen. Police are counting the number of casualties and searching for suspects, Cao said. In a related but separate incident, some 100 people attempted to "incite trouble" at a major shopping area in Kazakhbari, Cao further added. He tsaid police defused the situation. Defence Secretary Li Dong-Kuo pledged to step up "action to crack down upon terrorist groups and extremist organisations" at a meeting with President Liang and other members of his cabinet. The Liang administration have increased security in New Xinjiang, the mainland's capital. Photographs on Bai Lungese microblogs showed dozens of military trucks with riot police patrolling the streets. |

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() Private tutor jailed for assaulting pupil. A private tutor was jailed for 15 years for an "extremely shameful" indecent assault on a 10 year old boy. Ling Jia-yun, 50, who is married and has 3 children, was earlier convicted at District Court on two counts of assault. He was cleared on two other counts which District Judge Goodwin Yuen said could have been accidental. Judge Yuen said Ling had abused his position as tutor to two brothers, aged 10 and 12. He repeatedly inserted several pencils into the anus of the youngest boy, causing him pain on at least one occasion. Ling, holder of a master's degree in Chinese from Pyongjing University, was a Chinese teacher at a secondary school and had also worked as a stockbroker for Wang Po Industries. He resigned from these positions on being arrested and is currently unemployed. A psychiatric report said Ling is a pedophile and he have perverted sexual tendencies. The trauma report on the victim said he still remembers the incident, indicting that there is permanent damage. The court was told that between March and August last year, Ling stroked and slapped the boy's buttocks. He also asked him to take off his pants so he could commit the act. The abuse came to light in August last year when the brothers argued with their parents and told them that Ling was "an extremely evil person." The court also heard that Ling did not have a criminal record and was a devout Buddhist. Before his conviction, friends described him as being honest and with a loving heart. Most of them have now rescinded their claim. Judge Tuen said although the boyys were unable to express themselves clearly their testimony was honest and reliable. However, he acquitted Ling on two charges involving the 12 year oldm, touching his legs and neck on separate occasions, saying they may have been accidental. Ling will begin his sentence tomorrow and is subject to an automatic jail sentencing extension. Edited by Bai Lung, Jul 7 2013, 05:56:48 AM.

The prospect of the New Fuchau Racecourse in Bai Lung Dalu being scuppered by a Kashgar terrorist bomb attack has sparked concern among Conservative lawmakers. Groundbreaking of the New Fuchau Racecourse was due to start in 5th July but was cancelled at the last minute when a Kashgar man blew himself up 50 yards away from the site in New Fuchau National Park. 3 people died from the suicide attack.
The opposition Labour Party have also condemned the attack but at the same time, condemned the construction of the construction of New Fuchau racecourse, claiming that it would demolish 33% of New Fuchau National Park to make way for the course.
