Two restaurant owners have been charged with evading gas and electicity bills. The two men, brothers Chen Guking and Chen Gukmoon, were handed a total of 6 years each by the Court of Appeals. Both brothers will be asked by repay a total of BL$20,000 in gas and electricity bills. The brothers used complex accountancy tricks which would allow them to deliberately delay monthly payments. They had delayed payments between March 2010 and December 2011. Huohua Gas Lmtd and Bai Lung Electricity Corp became suspicious of the brothers activities so they contacted the police and both men were arrested in January 2012. A right wing paper Central Bai Lung Post claims that over 2,300 restaurants do not pay gas and electricity bills and use the same methods as the Chen brothers. Blind activist and lawyer Chen Guolong will be allowed to travel outside of his home on 'compassionite grounds' for 3 days before normal house arrest rules apply to him. Mr Chen will continue to face certain restrictions, such as the mandatory wearing of an electronic tag and is forbidden to leave the capital without exceptionally good reasons. Last May, the self taught 43 year old activist released secret documents online including many of former President Richard Im's trips to Kelssek. He was detained by police on suspicion of espionage but escaped detention. He seeked refuge at a Dannistrian embassy. After 3 days of standoff, the Dannistrian goverment refused to grant him asylum and handed him over to police. Mr Chen faces charges of espionage. If found guilty by the High Court, he will face life imprisonment with no chance of parole. Edited by Bai Lung, Oct 14 2013, 05:31:42 PM.

Mayor Choi Ling Da Shui has floated an idea which would ban the event of Halloween in his city. The mayor, who is dubbed by left-leaning newspaper as 'The Mayor who bans everything and anything.', has reportedly told councillors that he would like to see restrictions or a total ban on certain events in October namely Halloween. When asked about this meeting, Mr Ling confirmed that he is open to banning Halloween as he sees it as a 'western based idea which has no role in Bai Lungese society.' Mr Ling wants fines of up to BL$20,000 to apply to people who are based in Choi but circumvent the ban by going to other cities to celebrate Halloween. According to a study held Wang Bin University, 1 in 5 children are aware of Halloween and 1 in 6 actually celebrate the event. Left wing pundits pointed out that many of Ling's draconian and reactionary policies are left unchallenged by the High Court whereas more moderate policies championed by President Liang have been routinely struck down by the same court. |

Rat B Gone, a Pyongjing based company that specialises in producing anti-rat pesticides, has been blasted by the political left for using cronyism to win a contract with the Liang adminstration to use their pesticides in the President Office building. Marxist leader Jonnie Ting was extremely vocal against Rat B Gone, calling them crony capitalists. He has also blast President Liang for being too 'comfy' with the rat pesticides lobby after his recent decision to use Rat B Gone over employing a cat to remove rats in the POB.
Economists say that the use of a cat would only cost BL$700-900 per year to maintain, nearly all of the costs go to feeding it. By comparison, using pesticides and employing someone to spray the chemicals in the POB would cost BL$50,000 per year, including paying the employee BL$25,000/year in taxpayers money. According to Open Secrets Bai Lung, President Liang has received BL$78,000 in donations from the pesticide industries during 2010-2012 with the last donation taking place in May 2012, 2 months before the Presidential election. |

A far right wing activist has assaulted Marxist leader Jonnie Ting on national TV over a debate on the nation's economy. The incident happened at a live segment of the weekly political show The Political Debate Bai Lung broadbasted on BLCTV 2 with Andy Ma as the presenter. Gong Hemoon, a self declared anti-government ultra-conservative, spoke at lengths that government as a concept should be removed from society and that families form a natural conservative hierarchy. He called for taxes to be completely scrapped in favour of self-regulating markets. Mr Gong has also describe Dannistrians as being inferior and overseas Bai Lungese as being 'anti-Bai Lungese for refusing to speak Mandarin at all or good enough'. Mr Ting however, spoke about how the state's role in the economy has a positive impact on the livelyhood of families and has called for the re-nationalisation of many key industries including railways. He has blasted President Liang for not doing enough to address the ever increasing widening poverty gap. Mr Ting has also hit out on the Conservative controlled assembly for considering a vote on the privatisation of public parks. Mr Gong was visibly agitated when hearing Mr Ting's view, which culminated to a brief fist fight between the two. Mr Gong was taken out of the studio before he attempted to do further damage. Shortly after the incident, BLCTV Corp has announced that The Political Debate Bai Lung would be suspended 'until further notice in the wake of today's incident'. They have also announced that they would closely screen guests on any of their shows in the future. |

An extreme right wing activist has been placed on suicide watch after 5 consecutive attempts to take out his life. Gong Hemoon, who describes himself as an ultra-conservative anarchist, made 5 attempts to hang himself with bedsheets but was caught on each attempt by police. Police have reported that 4 of the 5 hanging attempts were done in the afternoon of yesterday. The fifth try occurred during midnight of today. Mr Gong was cut free before he successfully asphyxiated himself. He required some medical treatment but was not sent to a hospital. He will be placed on suicide watch until he is summoned to the District Court. In September of this year, Mr Gong attended an anti-government protest were he spoke against the existence of government. A vocal critic of the existing judicial system, he has advocated replacing the current system with that of competing private law firms. He claims that these firms can deal with civil and criminal cases more efficiently over the publicly funded judicial system. He was quoted as saying on outlawing abortion but without government presence: "Private security and law firms have the duty to ensure the unborn child is protected from state tyrany. The rejection of abortion should be a naturally occurring thing, the state would make the outlawing of abortion an artificial idea. We are not for artificial ideas." |

President Liang has announced that he would soften homosexuality related laws for the first time in Bai Lungese history. Previously, homosexuality was punishable by the death penalty since the days of King Kim II. Some historians believe that the King might have been a homosexual himself adding irony to the laws. The laws remained unchanged until Wang Bin got rid of the death penalty for homosexuality but making it a life sentence. The then-President Richard Im made further amendments to Wang's law to make homosexuality a punishable crime of 5 years. President Liang has said that homosexuality related activities will no longer carry a jail sentence. He has however, remained committed to traditional marriage of a man and a woman. Some Conservatives have blasted President Liang of undermining traditional family values and 3 Conserative MLAs have introduced legislation which would make homosexual a crime punishable by death. |

New Kinmen manager has strongly condemned a racially insensitive manifesto written by extremist fans calling for the club to never hire Dannistrian footballers. The racist manifesto was created in the wake of news that Ban'thulu Nah United defender Roy Wi'hnston was strongly considering accepting a transfer for BL$10 million for 5 years by New Kinmen. Close sources say that the fans did not react well to the prospects of having their first foreign player in the club's history. On top of having Bai Lungese players, they also call for manager Roy Cheng to keep the entire squad pro-hexterosexual, banning LGBT people from ever playing. Manager Roy Cheng has strongly condemned the manifesto, calling for the authors to be publicly named and shamed as well as banning them from attending their matches permanently. Many Dannistrian observers have quickly dismissed their manifesto, pointing out that the Bai Lungese race is not pure. As of 2013, 99.5% of the population have Korean and Chinese ancestry. Extremist fans of the club have been strongly condemned in recent times. In July of this year, fans injured a referee with stones and beer cans during a friendly with Jincheng United. |

The city of Choi has become the first city to impose a ban on the event of Halloween towards their residents. A motion was passed unaminously by the all Conservative Aldermen to make Halloween celebrations a criminal offence. Offenses such as shouting out 'Happy Halloween' and the carving of pumpkins in public are subject to penalties of up to BL$200 in fines. The mayor, Ling Da Shui, simply gave a short statement in passing the ban saying that it is against the culture of Bai Lung. Left wing groups have called the ban a breach of civil rights and has called for the High Court to overturn the ban. Others point out the hypocrisy of Mr Ling's mayoral tenure. His socially conservative stances has led to the banning of several events celebrated by the western world yet he opposed the banning of a ritualistic slaughtering of pigs performed by the Hongcai subgroup of Bai Lungese. This practice involves hanging the pig by its lower legs upside-down alive whilst a priest stabs it repeatedly in the belly, often screeching in pain. The ritual is performed shortly before Bai Lungese New-Year and is seen as a sign of good luck. Critics of Mr Ling also point out that he opposes restrictions on fireworks, even when selling them to 10 year old boys. The Bai Lungese Assembly are to consider imposing an age limit on selling fireworks to under 18 year olds. |

Relatives of the 50 people who drowned in the Deng Island boating disaster have planned to file a lawsuit against the boating company. Families already granted legal aid intend to file a writ towards the end of this year. They will seek to show that the Marine Department, Ping & Teng, Deng Ferry and the manufacturer of the Deng IV, the ferry that sank in the collision, share responsibility for the accident. The president of Bai Lungese Insurance and Professional Insurance Assocation, Ronnie Lao, says the litigants may receive as much as BL$10 million in compensation, both because of the high number of victims and because many of the deceased were workers with considerable earning power. 50 people died after Deng IV collided with the Silk Ashore, a passenger ferry operated by Ping & Teng. |

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() Darrell Ai Sha underfire for derogatory comments on Deng Island family victims: 'Go look to private charity for handouts'. The highly outspoken Conservative MLA Darrell Ai Sha is facing criticisms from left wing organisations as well as members of his own party for posting derogatory comments on ThrushXpress. Mr Ai has made several Birdies that were aimed towards the families of the 50 victims who died at the Deng Ferry disaster Last October as well as the incident itself. Downplaying the incident, Mr Ai called the Deng Ferry disaster an 'accident' rather than a 'disaster' by his own definition. He has labelled the families as being dependent on government welfare or handouts. A family member of one of the fifty deceased posted on ThrushXpress objecting to Mr Ai's comments, stating that an incident in which 50 people have perished constitutes a disaster. Refusing to back down on his comments, Mr Ai told Harlem Wei, brother of Brooklyn Wei, he doubled down on them by telling Mr Wei and the other families to rely on private charity for compensation instead of the government. He accused the families of being Labour operatives. Yesterday, the families of the deceased will seek BL$10 million in compensation according to president of Bai Lungese Insurance and Professional Insurance Assocation Ronnie Lao. The conversation in full.

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() Boy, 9, leaps to death 'on teacher's orders'. A 9-year-old boy jumped 20 floors to his death after failing to write a self-criticism letter demanded by his teacher. The fourth grade primary school student had been ordered to write an apology by his teacher for talking in class, BLCTV reports citing a neighbour. The teacher allegedly told him to jump out of a building after he failed to complete the task, the report quoted relatives and the neighbor as saying. "Teacher, I can't achieve the task," was found written in one of his textbooks. "I urinated myself several times when I tried to jump from the building." The child smashed head first into a parked car beneath the flat where his family live. Furious relatives hung a banner outside the school in central Pyongjing reading: "The teacher is a killer! He forced our kid to take his life." The Greater Pyongjing Police spokesperson said: "The police investigation is still under way." Strict discipline is an essential part of Bai Lung's historical education system and culture, pre-dating that of the Chenite and Nationalist eras. Tradition demands deference to authority, putting children under pressure to obey instructions. The boy's school said on its verified account on ThrushXpress, that the child and some of his classmates had been ordered to write reviews of their behavior after they disturbed a speaking competition. Downplaying his death, he claimed that he "died by accident," it said. Edited by Bai Lung, Nov 7 2013, 06:33:29 PM.

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() Schoolboy of 11 drown in pool. An 11 year old schoolboy has been found dead at his local school pool in Chen Tai Soon. The death might have been the second instance in which pupils are asked to write a self-critical letter demanded by their teachers. Strict discipline is a part of Bai Lungese culture and the education system and has remained unchanged despite changes in their government. The boy simply left a note which said: "Holding my breath as long as the teacher says so". It is unknown if the boy was misbehaving prior to his death although teachers say that he is a hard working pupil with adequate grades. Yesterday, a 9 year old boy from Pyongjing Playhouse Elementary died from jumping head first into a pavement after he was asked to write a self critical letter. His parents continue to protest against the school's harsh treatment of their pupils. |
