A satirical bill which lampoons the extremely reactionary positions of the True Conservative Movement has died in the Lower House. The Official Anthem of Bai Lung Act 2015 would have changed the official anthem, Three Principles of the People, to the Jay J. Ahn penned Calypso song 'Take Your Money'. The bill only had 10 co-sponsors, all of whom are Labour MLAs. The song is seen by some as an unofficial anthem of the True Conservative Movement. The most hardline Conservatives have refused to sponsor the bill, realising the satirical nature of the bill. Darrell Ai Sha has lambasted the Labour Party wasting taxpayer's money for drafting an 'absurd bill'. The bill, written by comedian-turned-politician Rick Ding, has told BLCTV News that he will pass more satirical bills to highlight the reactionary nature of the TCM who continue to persue traditional value at all costs. |

The Liang administration and the Pyongjing Council has been urged to step up its efforts in managing Pyongjing's trees, following the collapse of a 20 metre banyan in the North Western district on Wednesday afternoon that injuried 3 people. Labour Councillor Ned Chu Qixia said the government has a moral duty to complete an in depth review of all trees in the city. Sharply criticising the Motorways and Maintenance Department, Chu said he will submit a document to the upcoming city-wide council meeting on July 29th.
The collapse of the 50 year old banyan on Li Yan Road has sparked concerns that more trees could collapse. Chu said he contacted the Motorways and Maintenance Department after one of the injured men, named Shi, who was injured in Wednesday's accident, told him 2 weeks prior that there was a hole in the trunk of the banyan and beetles were colonising the tree. |
