The Marxist Party have pushed forward a poverty reduction bill and is described as being radical by leader Jonnie Ting. The Basic Income Act 2016 will guarantee each household an additional BL$5,000 per year for single individuals who earn BL$20,000/annum or less or $30,000/annum for couples. The bill will be tie to inflation, which means it is subject to increase from the initial BL$5,000/annum. The bill is funded by increasing the income tax by 5% for wealthy individuals earning BL$500,000 or more. Ting pointed out that wages have increased by 400% for the top 1% since 2010 whilst wages for the bottom 40% have only gone up 5% in the same period. Mr Ting said his bill would address the income inequality and creat a more level playing field. Conservatives attacked the bill by calling it an assault on successful business persons. |

Todays Headline from New BLCTV News. Full stories available on www.newblctvnews.bl (Articles also available in English, Dannistrian and Dovakhanese)![]() TCM politicians put forward counter-Marxist bill: Fishing bill of rights. In what appears to be an attempt to counteract the actions made by the Marxist party, hardline Conservative MLAs have put forward a bill that would 'protect the rights of fishermen from the abitrary acts of congress and the executive branch.' The "Freedom of Fishing Act (Amendment 2016)" would remove all restrictions, minor and major, and would give fishermen to defend themselves against 'intruders'. It would supercede the existing 2013 act. There is no fishing cap but the fishing season has a two week break held at the time of Bai Lungese New-Year. The Liang administration wishes to lift these restrictions which was imposed by late interim administrator Wang Bin. The amendment has 250 co-sponsorse compared to the Marxist's Basic Income Act 2016 which has 79 co-sponsors. Critics, especially those from the Marxist and Labour parties, claim that the fishing rights bill would legitimise murder by allowing fishermen to kill environmentalists. Conservative MLA Darrell Ai Sha dismisses these concerns claiming it would give the fishermen 'more freedom from the shackles of bureaucracy'. |

Conservative MLA Corey Lin has publicly announced that he will vote against the fisher's rights bill which will receive a vote on Monday morning, the first Conservative politician to publicly oppose the bill. The politician from Anda North said that the bill is a mere waste of time and asked fellow Conservative MLAs to vote bills that 'mean something for Bai Lung instead of putting forward superficial nonsense of a bill.' Mr Lin's vote will be in line with the position of all Labour, Green, Democratic and Marxist MLAs who are also against the bill. The Conservative party will allow a free vote on this bill although several True Conservative Movement affiliated MLAs have called for the whip to force 'establishment' members to toe the line and vote for the bill. Some even threatened to mount challenges against the PM and the Chief whip if the bill fills to pass in both chambers of the assembly, although 85 TCM affiliated politicians have had their whipped withdrawn since October 14th last year. Outspoken businessman and 2017 Presidential hopeful Deng Cuitao has vowed to sign the Freedom of Fishing Act if President Liang vetoes the bill. Since 2012, Mr Deng has criticised the President for being too centrist and caving into the demands of the Labour and Marxist Parties. He has repeatedly called for 'pure Conservative principles', shunning socialist, libertarian or western influences. On the fishing bill, Mr Deng posted on ThrushXpress:
The bill is strongly criticised for legalising murder for fishermen as a provision permits them to kill 'intruders' and would-be intruders. This means fishermen can kill anyone who is 100 metres away from their fishing boat, even if they are unarmed. Sing Ren daily conducted a poll and shows a dead heat between the incumbent Liang and challenger Deng. Both received 47% of the vote if the election was held today. President Liang's position on the bill is still unclear although an unnamed aide claimed that Liang could support it and sign it into law. |

President Liang has repeatedly warned the Conservatives that he will veto any bill that will further limit the tenure of the President of Bai Lung. A proposed bill, the Term Limits for PoBL Act will impose further limits on the President by limiting the terms to just 1 but retaining the duration of the term to 5 years. The limit is lifetime and the incumbent cannot run again after a 5 year wait. The bill was drafted by True Conservative Movement politicians who feel that President Liang should not run for another term. The bill has even garnered support from some members of the Marxist party although Jonnie Ting does not support the bill himself. The President has warned that the bill would deprive the citizens the right to re-elect the incumbent for one more time if he/she is popular with the public. Some TCM politicians argue that this is the reason why the president should be limited to one term as the quality of the leader's tenure is more important than their quantity. |

Two senior staffers from the Red River shopping mall in Pyongjing have resigned from their positions after 3 months of abuse from the public. The incidences of verbal and physical abuse came 3 months after staffers of the mall were pictured eating inside a toilet to demonstrate the cleanliness of their toilets. The photo has been met with negative reactions and the toilet usage has seen a severe decrease since that incident. The police have rejected requests from staff to protect them from physical and verbal abuse, claiming it is only a handful of individuals who are perpetrating the abuse. The police also claimed that they issued 'thousands' of cautions to those who verbally abused the staff. The final straw came yesterday when two members of the public poured hot tea down the necks of two staff members. Neither men were arrested as they ran away from the scene. The staff resigned hours after the incident. Senior manager Roland Jin Hewu also had his share of abuse including several incidents of members of the public sputting on his shoe with the remarks 'CLEAN THIS YOU FILTHY MAN!'. Mr Jin has refused to step down as manager. Mr Jin also denied that the amount of shopping activity shrinking by 25% compared to the previous quarter has got nothing to do with the photo but a mere reflection on the time of year when people start spending less during the 1st quarter of 2016. |

True Conservative Movement politicians have put forward more bills 'made by for the people, by the peeople' in what is described by the Labour party as one of the most aggressive advancement of the conservative agenda to date. The most salient bills include the Environmental Reform Act which removes existing environmental regulations, the Freedom from Abortion Act which bans all abortions including when the women's life is in danger and the National Drink Act which enshrines the potent Wuji in the Bai Lungese constitution. The 3rd bill is notable as it essentially enshrines the drink into the Bai Lungese constitution. The bill would forbid lawmakers or the president from increasing taxes on the drink under any circumstances. TCM politicians also demand that PM Lin re-instate the whip back to them after a significant portion of Conservatives walked out on him in October last year as a result of their dissatisfaction of his leadership, perceived by many TCM politicians as being too centrist. The civil war within the Kashgar people continues to boil as spiritual leader frontrunner Boreesh Korbachiv was heckled and pushed by supporters of Iffan Omarsk at a market place in Huhmsbari, Southern Bai Lung. Despite having a 65 strong entourage, a crowd of 300 plus supporters of Omarsk surrounded the likely next leader of the Kashgar people. Many threw bottles at his direction as well as screaming 'YOU'RE BAI LUNGESE', a common slur used by the Kashgars to question the loyalty of other Kashgars. Kashgar experts claim that the slur is actually used more often to put down other Kashgars as a way to gain superior or alpha-male status. Despite the brief clash, Mr Korbachiv and his entourage were able to move onto another part of Huhmsbari. |

Film director Marcel Chen's first foray into writing novels was met with overwhelming negative reviews when it was released yesterday morning. A World Unto Itself is the debut novel of the Bloodpaw director and it is described as a 'Techno-spy thriller'. The story revolves around 5 main characters running away from a brutal technocrat. Reviewers say that Chen's novel is cliched and lacks any real substance. Nonetheless, it is expected to sell somewhere between 200,000 and 300,000 copies in the first week. |

The Conservative Party have formally ended the rift between establishment MLAs and True Conservative affiliated MLAs by restoring the whip for the latter. 85 MLAs had their whip withdrawn back in October last year when they walked out in protest of Prime Minister Lin who is viewed as a centrist by many Conservatives and does not possess the clout to present a conservative message. Although content with the re-instatement of their whip, Darrell Ai Sha has continued his criticism of the Assembly for not voting the Fisher's rights bill ASAP. The bill was delayed repeatedly after a number of Conservative senators added amendments after amendments. TCM politicians once again, threatened to impeach President Liang if he does not sign the bill into law. |
