Film director Marcel Chen has been sued by screenwriter Xavier Chu for allegedly copying his screeenplay when Chen was making REVOLT! REVOLVING! REVOLTING! The lawsuit claims that the story in the film is almost exactly the same in Chu's screenplay, Youthful Revolution. The key difference in the two works, however, is that the characters starting the revolt are high school students in Chu's screenplay as opposed to University students in Chen's film. Mr Chu is hoping to force Mr Chen to include him as a co-writer in subsequent reprints of the film as well as 50% of royalties. BLCTV News tried to contact Mr Chen but is unavailable to comment. |

Singer-Song writer and political activist Apple Yang has blasted ShowBiz Records for forcibly omitting one of her songs because of its political content. The indie-pop/rock artist spent 5 weeks in Huadan Studios recording her 2nd album, AY2. Her sophomore work would have included 12 tracks. However, representatives of ShowBiz Records listened to the final recording of 'Dear Mr President', a song critical of President Liang, they demanded it had to be removed. When Ms Yang refused to comply, she was locked out of the recording room for 48 hours. Her publicist then told her that they have removed the song from the final playlist. Posting on ThrushXpress, Ms Yang blasted the label for the forced omission, comparing it to 'bad dentistry by a bricklayer.' There are online rumours that the removal of the track is motivated by the fact that CEO Brooks Shih is a donor to the Conservative Party. In fact, he was photographed with President Liang and Prime Minister Lin in 2013. |
