Yep, I'm a staunch anti-capitalist. I wouldn't exactly call myself a socialist or communist, though, since there's too much baggage and mindless dogmatism going on there, but that doesn't mean I don't agree a great deal with those ideologies. I think Hugo Chavez is a generally agreeable leader of the Third World, and admire Tommy Douglas.

Can I preface this by saying I think I'm just a tad more moderate than these results might suggest? :P

Economic Left/Right: -7.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.03

Anyway, Dovakhan is similarly liberal-left and social democratic but moving more towards the liberal-centre.

P.S. I don't think the word "socialism" should invoke fear, Kelssek. Couldn't we arguably call mundane things such as American Medicare, the Canadian Wheat Board, or even the American Federal Exchange Commission our own North American brand of socialism? :P

Also, wasn't Mr. Douglas on the conservative side socially? He was a Baptist after all, eh?

P.S. I don't think the word "socialism" should invoke fear, Kelssek.  Couldn't we arguably call mundane things such as American Medicare, the Canadian Wheat Board, or even the American Federal Exchange Commission our own North American brand of socialism?

Also, wasn't Mr. Douglas on the conservative side socially?  He was a Baptist after all, eh?

I have no "fear" of socialism. To make description easier I usually describe myself as a "democratic socialist", in fact, but in reality there's more nuance.

The things you've listed are examples of an unfortunately endangered vestige of the days when democracy was much more powerful. The rich are always outnumbered, but in today's world they've more than made up for that with the ability to control the media and directly buy political influence with campaign contributions. Where FDR needed the "New Deal" in order to keep people voting for him, now politicians are more afraid of losing their donations than losing support of the voters - who usually don't have much of a choice anyway - and the results are predictable.

Nobody's perfect, but Tommy Douglas reflected a very progressive social view for his time. He fought to decriminialise being homosexual; although he is quoted as believing it to be a mental illness, in those times that was the kind, enlightened view. If he knew what we know now about homosexuality, I don't think he'd say they need psychiatric help; his views then are the equivalent of advocating gay marraige now.
