In addition to the NS Wiki entry for Warre, this will be the place I'll be dropping all the interesting little tidbits I want people to know about Warre. The exceptions will be highly detailed posts, or anything involving maps [those will go in the Maps and Charts section]. This particular post will serve as the index of all the information on Warre, posted in this thread or otherwise.

Warre was born of, strangely enough, a warrior. The people whom would eventually colonize Warre would not have hit it's shores, had it not been for an Irish-Born 'Sea-Wolf' for the British Crown, whom had at that time been marked to be hunted, himself. That man, Captain Charles Keith McCue, and his ship (The Lumina)'s crew happened upon an fleet of sailing ships of many shapes and varieties, all headed towards the Eastern Pacific, for opportunities they were told of, vast stretches of land untouched by other men and women.

The fleet had continued well into the East Pacific, when it would be hit by what many could consider a strange happen stance. French and Spanish Pirates, a fleet of nearly six ships. Charles, a man who had long been logical and stern in his use of compassion, allowing compassion only in the most specific of times, felt something change. That Captain urged his ship into assailing the incoming fleet, and helping the ships so determined to find new homes, to fight as well.

The Spanish and French Wolves expected to find sheep, but they found a wolf and a pack of hounds. The opposing fleet was sent into retreat, but not before several ships, including Lumina, had been hurt. The fleet rode the waves to the Northeast, and after passing a large island or two, they happened upon an island with a bay shaped like an L, which had deep waters, and a stony shore on one end.

The fleet capulated on itself there, the weakened ships unloading their cargos, valuables, and people at that time, and the other ships sending forth people to go with the others, so they could search for food, and materials to build a town with, aside from the ships which they cannibalized for the wood and copper in them.

As the exploration of this beautiful island continued, with some setting up farms, Captain Charles fell in love with the beauty of the place, and upon his explorations, found a stone facing that to him looked to say 'Warre', and so the nation was named, as he told those who had settled there with him.

Warre, pronounced 'Warr-rei' or 'Warr-reh' grew in time, the island was declared, and the islands around it, apart of the 'Warre chain'. In a period of no less than ten years, small towns littered the islands, with Lumina (the name of the primary settlement of the original settling group, on Warre itself) being the largest, already grown into a small town, under the guidance of it's 'lord Mayor', Charles Keith McCue. In time, the country rebuffed several offensives, and became a country, instead of a collection of settlements on close islands. For combined defense of the chains, an assembly came together, issuing a constitution declaring Warre a confederation, with a roving, council governed but singular commanded military group formed, a group which was referred to simply as 'Rangers', as they ranged from the islands, and the islands north of the Modern day chain, for that matter, and their talents mixed that of traditional armies, hunters, marines, and sailors.

In the years that passed, the confederation argued over several points, and the small personal armies of several 'Lord Mayors' of the settlements and islands on the Warre chain grew boisterously all the time. The confederation, which came closer and closer to breaking up every day, faced an unlikely savior. The aged, well marched and veteran, Charles Keith McCue. He, with his rangers, struck against the personal armies of the Lord Mayors, making them break to pieces with tactics of a real military. Before any action could be taken in 'reparation', towards him, the Captain struck against the council itself, claiming it's meeting place [In Lumina] as his own, and arresting every Lord Mayor, before declaring himself the first King of Warre.

Some of the Mayors and Petty Lords were spared, those who agreed to this new set up, but those who did not were given the revolutionary's kiss. Executed, they fertilized the soil for coming generations.

[OOC; Despite the clearly slightly vile actions of Charles in his later years, he is painted a hero, and anyone who does not see him as a national hero, a grand patriot, etc, is typically shunned by the populace. In addition, the 'origin' of the people of Warre, is never bothered to be looked for, as modern day Warre has many varied surnames about it's populace, and saying it was originally settled by another nation would make it a 'child state', of that nation, something it does not wish to ever admit to be. Likewise, the lack of 'ancestral origin' throughout the nation makes it less likely racism will go about, at least in the eyes of Warre's government, and more likely the Warreic (As a race) will view themselves as culturally and genetically one race.]]

In this time, though Warre had become a Kingdom, thrown off of the loose if non-existent government of 'brotherhood of states' which it had before held, it was not unified. Warre, the capital, was the only one of the islands which made up the Warreic Archipelago which was firmly under the new King's control. The other islands worked just the same, as their own states, for the most part. They ignored royal mandates, and decreed he was wrong repeatedly

As three years passed, with tensions brewing, what would become known as the 'Unification War' erupted, from raiders being harbored in the island of Deo and the far western islands, Ryuna and Lyr. These raiders provoked the King's Marines (For the King's former followers made up most of his forces, and they were not a traditional army, more along the lines of a marine force), by raiding merchant ships, tax ships, and most importantly to such an island nation, fishing ships.

The Unification War took place on every one of the islands, including Warre, and took over six years, but by the end of it, the Warreic were united, the lords and lord mayors who had previously strained the relationships of the Kingdom with their counties, were made vassals, or as was true before, given the revolutionary's kiss, replaced quickly by those who would be loyal to the Warreic throne.

Soon thereafter, things returned to -relative- peace, and the King and the lords wrote a loose constitution, with no bill of rights persay, because the government was obviously 'at will' of the King. They sent forward emissaries for recognizable soon thereafter.

As many nations of the time did, Warre, -which had focused on development, and invention just as much as any of it's other industries-, began the twentieth century with relative happiness. Power plants were built on seven of the then eight islands which it held in it's territory, with more coming every day. This focus on technology made it not far from other nations, and it modernized its military at much the same pace as other nations did, the western world not noticing Warre, but it not caring if they did.

Though Warre had little activity within the East Pacific during the first world war (they were not interfered with), in the second world war they became very active. Throughout the last one hundred years, they had many Japanese colonize their southern neighbors, and they dealt with a paranoia from this. With the movements of the Japanese throughout the south Pacific, and within some nations very close to Warre, the Warreic Military, which had finally modernized itself, moved out. It assisted in invasions and counter-invasions against the Japanese, and the Warreic Government allowed American, Canadian, British, Dannistrian, Australian, and New Zealander forces to build bases on some of their island, the kingdom not formally joining the allies, but assisting where it could.

It made a name for itself, at least locally, during this time, and after the war was over, with Japan surrendering to the allies, Warre went to peace again itself, quickly growing and prospering, using it's new ties to grow even quicker. Two decades passed, with tensions brewing between Warre and the three nations below it, the small island states which had prospered under Japan's invasions, and the imperialism of Japan, as they were Japanese colonists.

The King, Thurman Keith McCue, was the one who lead them throughout the time from the twenties on, and he decided during the tensions, especially with the fact that a few Warreic ships had been hijacked by their southern neighbors, that Warre might do well to gain a 'colony' of it's own, and eliminate it's only lasting enemies at the same time.

Warre invaded it's southern neighbors shortly there after, using it's experience in world war 2, and it's technology, which was much better than it's southern neighbors, to take them. Though controversial throughout the Warreic nation, and those nations which were civilized and noted it, this was the first time when Mecha were used by the nation of Warre. In the 'Southern War' as it came to be called, Warre utilized it's 'ARMS' (Armed Reaction Mechanized System), or what would become its ARMS in the battles to the south, Warre having designed them after noticing that tanks were not as effective or mobile in their region of the East Pacific, because of the highly mountainous terrain, and likewise, their neighbors would not fair well with them.

The technology in itself was released in the public as having been engineered by brilliant Warre scientists, but it was actually reverse engineered and then reengineered by brilliant Warreic scientists, using technology found amongst their archipelago and the islands to the north, in several archaeological digs.

In the end, the conquered lands were occupied for ten years, before officially being declared territories (because the government had always wanted them to be colonies, and they had invested heavily into building and rebuilding infrastructure in these former neighboring nations.), and these territories were granted for their people, Warreic citizenship, and governance by Warre, but they were not offered full provincehood by the government.

Within the Imperial Kingdom's flag today, the red stars represent the territories gained in this war, Yun, Umikaze, and Jouki.

Safety Amongst the Waves

There is a tale,
a tale told verily,
of a man who lead a warrior ship and who lead a lost people to their destiny.

This tale,
this tale,
about the forefathers of you and me.

It begins with nothing simply,
put.

In the waves and winds and green of the British Isles,
Our founder was born,
Stuck to his mother lands wiles,
When marked for death;
he was torn.

When the cannons of his once mother were aimed at him,
he knew his chances were dim.
So into the waves he ran into the waves he ran.
His crew loyal and his ship born of light under his feet,
in those days he became the man who would find our lan'.

You know this well,
his name was Charles Keith McCue.
In him fires of courage never did quell,
as was true of his crew.

When he found our kingdom,
turning sheep to dogs,
he told the people there,
“We'll find safety amongst the waves,
Never you despair.”

So on this day far from then,
through our glorious land,
we sing the praises of our wise founder
knowing that any time may be when
we fight along our sand,
never flounder!

For we are the people of Warre,
and she knows we can.
Bring her glory,
Even as we bask in the safety of the waves,
the beauty of our lan'.

((OOC; If any of you read this like an Irish Diddy or a Ballad? You're right. That's how it's supposed to be sung. I'd sing it and attach it as a music file, but I'm lazy and can't find my mic.))
