Cluiche dar Soirc, or 'Game of Shark', is a sport played within the Warreic Archipelago. Though played at times by the Warreic Military in training games, it is mostly an 'unofficial sport'. Recently, it has had it's rules codified, and there have been some mentions of the provincial governments within Warre actually recognizing Cluiche Dar Soirc, as an official sport on the provincial level. However, because of it's popularity (both as a played sport and a spectator sport) amongst the military and quite often the sailors of Warre, Cluiche Dar Soirc has recently come to the attention of the royal family themselves, and after a few rousing games of it, it has been recognized as a national sport.

Cluiche Dar Soirc's rules, as of current, as codified by the Warreic Sports Council, with advisors from legends of the game, Tony 'Tigershark' Rider, and Ryan 'Leviathan' Wilder.

The goals of the game are to score more points than your opponents. Cluiche Dar Soirc can be played one on one, three on three, or seven on seven. In any game which has more than one on one has at least one player on each team assigned as a goalie. There are two goals on each side, one mid-air, and one under water.

The game is of course played in the water, normally sea side with cliffs nearby. The mid-air goal is to be no less than ten feet from the surface of the water, and the the underwater one is placed under at least seven or eight feet of water. The goals have no netting, and are no more than two and a half feet in circumference. The mid-air goal is worth three points, and the submerged goal worth one.

Defense is typically composed of dives and tackles, though nearly any physical move can and is used. There are no division of time, and up to three matchs can be played at in a game [A match is defined as exactly twelve minutes]. Games can then be 'series'es, if the teams participating so wish.

Though the game has few rules aside from the rules, it does have one specific rule. No player may leave the water for more than three minutes, unless harmed. There are also whispers of a 'no substitutions' rule.

The Ball with Cluiche Dar Soirc is shaped just the same as a rugby ball or the like.

So, what's the purpose of this thread? The purpose of this thread is to introduce the NS World, or at least a small portion of it, to the newly conceived sport, 'Cluiche Dar Soirc'. It's to explain the basics of the game, as if it were a normal sport, and to be a bit of an advertisement. So we know how the players would play it, if it were a real sport.

But how do we role play it? The obvious answer to avoid godmodding would to do what other sports have done in NS RP, and use a scorinater. The obvious answer is not the correct one for Cluiche Dar Soirc, however. Though any one player may be good, in a game such as I've described, simple quick swimming and good aim would not be good enough. You'd have to be perceptive of your teammates, and capable of watching out for them and they'd need to be capable for watching out for you, because if you get hurt and can't continue playing, that's just tough luck for you and your team, good luck for your opponents.

So every player in role plays featuring Cluiche Dar Soirc, (or revolving around it), will have their teams stated as the role play begins. Every member of the teams will be given four stats, and be given a certain amount of points to divide amongst them.

A third player will then roll a set of 8 dice (d10 in most cases) for the two competing players.

A 2 sided dice will be rolled by the same player, and before it is rolled, the two competitors will declare their intent, which one claims 1, which 1 claims 2. Whoever gets the number correctly will go 'first', an there will be 9 turns, where the players will state what each player in their team is doing, or what most players are doing. They will then decide (and declare to an agreed upon third party) their 'round die investments'. After this is declared by both, the round die investments will be posted, and the players will be able to make the member(s) of their team get the amount they have invested in that turn, in one chosen stat. If multiple team members will get bonuses on a turn, then multiple die will be invested.

Every turn is a minute, in character, and after the 9 turns, the winner of the 'match' will be declared. A short 'rest' will be taken IC, and then a second match will be held, and if it results in a tie, then a third, final match will be held. The winner of this wins the day's 'game', though CDS clubs may schedule multiple games in a IC week, as 'serieses'.

The four stats which all CDS athletes will have assigned are speed, strength, aim, and guardsman. There will be in normal cases at the 'professional level', stat 18 points for each player , though a club may sacrifice points from a player to another player. All IC 'professional level Soirccluichers' will have no less than 14 points spent upon them.

There's not really a 'sign up' persay, it's just played amongst people. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, persay, because I can either do a 'tour around the east pacific', or find people to play. Because it's a 'home grown' game for Warre, any nation which played it would have to have shipping ties with Warre, to have witnessed it, and then would have to send a delegation to play it, until some 'higher league' was set up.
