Running in the Rain
Tried not to go too far into the realm of tl;dr here, so I broke it up into quick sections. Might add more detail later.

Geography
Hoi Oligoi has natural borders on nearly every side, with a large coast line to the west, and rocky mountains and highlands running from the SE-NE just a brief ways from the international border. The climate is on average cool and wet due to prevailing winds from the coast. The marshlands in southern areas are often prone to flooding as a result, and are generally unsuited for farming, instead being home to small towns and wildlife preserves. As such, many areas in the north and west are given over to agriculture, with larger cities and industrial sites to the coast and in the mountains. The capital city of Enso (named after the national symbol, present on the flag and the Oligoi language name for the nation) is located in a valley in the western mountains, formerly a mining city. The nation's largest city of Arn is a port on the coast, responsible for nearly 40% of the nation's export by sea.

People
Citizens and natives are, to the international community, referred to as Hoi Oligoi. Amongst themselves they use the term Ensan, an old mix of the Buddhist term 'Enso' and the old, now most disused Oligoi/Ensari language's suffix -an, meaning roughly "Man". Save for very small immigrant populations from other nations, the people are all human, running the gamut from tall to short, though in terms of weight the average leans to the thin. Most Hoi Oligoi are pale, a product of the generally grey, cloudy climate, and on the whole are perceived as cynical and slow to trust foreigners, with a very dry sense of humour.

Recent Political History
Only in recent times has Hoi Oligoi emerged into the international sphere in a large way, mostly due to the works of the Hoi Oligoi Centrists, the current majority party in Parliament, and the Prime Minister Cal Fein. A formerly small party, the HOC saw fervent support with its promises to reform what was perceived as an outdated and out of touch system, but they have come under fire recently for either being seen as politically 'wishy-washy' or for 'going too far' and 'pandering to foreign governments'. The relatively small immigrant population seems to be growing under the new government, necessitating the appointment of advisors and diplomats, and causing formerly fringe nationalist groups to gain political sway. Current Parliament standings are:

Hoi Oligoi Centrists: 45%
National Conservative Party: 25%
Liberal Democrats: 20%
National Libertarians: 5%
Citizens First Party: ~4%
Green Party: ~1%
Others (Socialist, Communist, etc) 0%

Religion
Faith is regarded as a highly personal affair in Hoi Oligoi, and the government makes no statements on it. Politicians may be of any creed, but the government's Constitution marks the government itself as avowedly atheist. Zen Buddhism, one of the traditional religions dating back to the stories of the First Founders, remains popular in the mountainous areas, and Catholicism (and to a lesser extent other denominations of Christianity) is very popular among older, yet less "traditional" families, though the youth of Hoi Oligoi are showing to tend towards no preference or openly atheist. Various other religions, including those of other nations are present, generally in the small, yet growing immigrant population.
The whole moon and the entire sky are reflected in one dewdrop on the grass.
