Oh.....another tough question. :D This is particularly difficult for me to answer because it puts me in a bind.

On one hand, I really like the idea of having a standing army, for defensive purposes mostly. Being a former defender, I always felt it crucial to have some sort of defense in place, whether or not it was absolutely necessary. Plus, it is a wonderful way to keep members of the community active!

Conversely, having a standing army does take away active WA's from our community who may just want to sit around gaining influence or endorsement swap.

This honestly, is a question that, if I were to become a delegate, I would feel more comfortable having the region decide. I could not ever endorse a standing army without the region's approval because again, this is a question best left for everyone.

I know this does not necessarily answer your question, so I will try to give a more direct answer. If I were to become delegate, I would not be opposed to the idea, but would much rather prefer that the region decide what they feel is in their best interests.

In the Concordat, it states that a delegate cannot serve as a Arbiter and a delegate. Therefore, if you're elected, you're going to have to relinquish your post there. You've mentioned selecting me as a vizier, something I'd probably accept and do whatever work is needed of me for this region, but if this is the case, who should take your place?

When I first considered running, I already decided that should I become delegate, I would pass my Arbiter position to Reziel or Terasu, depending on who should accept. They are long-standing members of the East Pacific community and I would feel most comfortable having a long term member with TEP's best interests hold that position. They have proven through the course of time to care about the region and even return after the whole Empire fiasco. Therefore, I truly feel they are the best candidates for a position protecting the region.

I'll vouch for Terasu... younger blood, more energy, more patience. I'm too old to wear TEPish flashy badges!

I know it is a bit late for questions, but still :P

-how would you go about "creating" the roles that you mentioned as critical to any community? Don't people basically gain those positions themselves?

-you mentioned the region and other aspects of NS, and that you wanted more interaction between the two. It is my understanding that Kelssek has experience in the GA, but very few members of the GP community are usually active in Generalite, GA, and on-site RP communities. What can a delegate do to change this?
Everything is possible, the impossible just takes longer.

It is never too late for questions and thank you DN! Again, very good questions, they require me to expand and elaborate.....tweak that brain of mine.

To answer your former concern, the roles that I have established are basically earned by the people, yes. Each member is unique and adopts the roles which fit him or her. But sometimes, members of the community need an little extra boost of confidence, a cheerleader of sorts, someone empowering them to step into their own unique role. If were to become delegate, I would continue to help empower members to see and respond to their own unique talents. I have been emersed in this community for some time now and see the unique talents that we each have. Of course, I do not have time to go into them all, but for instance using you as my example, I am fairly confident you would fit the Leader role. Only you can step into this role, but I will do my best to help you see that you have fit this role and have done an impeccable job. I will support you and assist where I can to help you step into a role if need be.

As for your latter question, this is the most difficult task I will embark on. I must admit I am very impressed that you have taken the time to read my campaign and realize the areas of greatest difficulty. I am very open to suggestions here, as this community will be difficult in expanding awareness. Over the past many months, I have been encouraging players to get involved via TG. I will continue to do so, especially if I get a hint of a natural talent. These things require a considerable amount of time and a meticulous approach.

Again, this is not something I expect anyone to see in a term of delegacy. Anyone expecting some "snap" solution to our problems has the wrong mentality for these issues. It seems too many people seem to expect a delegate to come in and suddenly do all these wonderous actions, increase activity, correct every regional problem, and act as the person has never acted before. We must counter this mentality to be a successful region. If someone needs to become delegate to become active in a region, then obviously, we as a community have done something wrong. But I digress, the major point here is that I will continue to seek out people who I believe are befitting of the various roles and slowly nudge them into trying new tasks. I will continue to host our lovely MSN chats, I will try to become more active in Chatzy for those unable to utilized MSN (I may need a few nudges myself from the region to sign on though), and I will continue seek out talents of players and get them to explore other areas. Part of this is matching the right person with the right aspect to get them to expand....it takes a very careful approach because just telling people to join this or that without considering who the person is or what they are most interested will ultimately backfire.

Again, I do want to be very clear, much of my campaign is not anything that will be immediately seen and much of what I have been doing in this region is again something that has not been easily seen. I work in interior affairs.....we tend to be very behind the scenes people. Our approaches tend to be long and drawn out over the course of months. We embrace challenges, analyze communities, and set more long term deep impacting goals rather than quick fixes to a long term problem.

lol, let me help. GA = General Assembly, part of the World Assembly (or what was once called the UN before Max got a cease and desist letter from the "real" UN). GP is gameplay. And I won't be a dork and tell you what RP is, cause I think you know what that is :Todd:

Ach, du lieber Sonntag.. Soon its here.. and before that, I just have to squeze some odd questions in. And yes, as I wrote in Vacationeers little campaign thread most is copy pasted. Laziness is divine.

*hides the dagger*

*grabs a wagon with question templates*

Now, I just barely browsed through the others questions and your own replies to them so I may re-ask what others has already asked. Just ignore answering those questions if it happens.

Yes, almost forgot. I tend to go the humor way if you find any questions odd.

* Any gadgets you would throw around as delegate. Behaviours, outbursts, signs. Anything? A true delegate really needs a personality that shines in some way. Good, bad, evil, devine, angelic whatever.

* As you clearly have been thinking on running for delegate for this term for a good long time, I wonder what your first action as delegate would be. What is your design for the region.

* And as a follow up, what political views would you use on your Delegacy. Liberal, Communist, Conservative etc..

* Now, roleplay is your thing. What is the most common misstakes from a newly RP'er first trotting steps into the world of sheer written fiction?

* As you sit down in front of your screen and lazily read this wall of text that probably will make you wonder which language I normally pollute, what type of drink do you wield while doing such acts?

* Do you like to lay under the sun and just let it bake you?

I will return, if bored. Sunday is a long time away.

Ah! Perfect.... *taps fingers together* Now we get to the brunt of my real campaign.

The gadgets I shall throw around are myself. We all already know that I am my own personality. Whether that is a good or bad thing, I will let the region decide.

My very first act as delegate is to realize, oh hey, I'm delegate. Then I will play the Ben Stein Clear Eyes commerical and revel in his 'wow.' It shall become my motto of enthusiasm! As for my design and plans, it has been laid out earlier, but again to reiterate that I plan on deconstructing the current means of leadership and reconstructing a more regionally involved one.

My personal politics would not play into the game to answer that question. TEP is a democracy and that is how I shall continue to run it. :D

As for an RP question, can I say, thank you! I tend to find the most common mistakes that new RP'ers or even inexperienced NS RP'ers, since it is a seperate culture, is that too often they fear conflict and do not trust their fellow RP'ers. They associate conflict with animosity, failure, and weakness rather than seeing it as an opportunity for their characters to develop while they grow as RP'ers. They also come in wielding personal guards and guns and an array of personal protective materials to keep others from harming their characters; when the reality is that most RP'ers do not want to harm your character. This is a very typical behavior of inexperienced RP'ers that depicts a fear and uncertainity among their fellow RP'ers. Instead of trusting other RP'ers, they feel vulnerable and easily become intimidated, both of which block a necessary collaboration for effective RP. Part of developing a character and one's self as a RP'er is accepting that the plot will not always go your way and accepting that your character is not the best character. When I first joined RP, I RP'ed with probably the most brutal RP'er I ever ran across in all of NS and he had a simple motto that became crucial advice to my entire RP circle of friends and that is "roll with the punches." It is the best thing you can do as a new, inexperienced RP and even as an experiened one. The difference between the two is the latter does so more easily and with humor. ;)

Right now, I am drinking Pepsi Throwback. Ask me this question again in a few more hours, it might get more interesting. :P

And.....last but not least! I love the sun! It is my friend and I do not like to just sit in and 'tan' but I do really enjoy sitting in the sun reading, playing games, talking, and drying off from swimming. Ah.....I am missing the beach.

Hope that answers your questions!
