Ankya, Ikrisia's secretary, sighed as she cleaned out her documents folder, trying to sort her files by month and theme as she continued to work despite her superior still being away for an unspecified reason. "Meeting. May. Armed Forces. March." Of course she couldn't just say it was an unspecified reason if someone did need her. She'd have to choose from a Rolodex of excuses, from ribbon cutting to swimming somewhere to take her mind off things. Of course most of the time she'd be "in dispose" and "unable to comment at this time". "Kivreskov. April. Listonian Affairs. April."

Suddenly the phone rang. "Hello?" she asked.

Sam mentally sighed. "Yes, can you please tell her that I will be travelling to Vekaiyu in a few days, sometime this week. I hope this isn't sudden. I did tell her that I would be visiting Vekaiyu after I visited Southern Yugoslavia."

Ankya brought up her excel file that contained a running schedule for the premier. "Certainly. Normally most leaders plan their visits at least a week in advance, but I believe she will be able to accommodate." She paused as she entered it in. "Anything else I can do for you, sir?"

Sam thought for a moment. "I will be bringing some members of my family with me as well. And I hope to meet Premier Levinile soon. My family and I will probably be leaving for Vekaiyu this Wednesday or Thursday. I hope that gives her enough time to prepare for my arrival. I don't want her to rush. If it's too much trouble, I can reschedule."

"Yes, that should be workable. I will inform her and if it does not work out for her I shall inform you and request you reschedule. If you do not hear from me by tomorrow, assume there are no problems and you shall gain clearance to fly to Vekaiyu."

"Thank you Kivia Ileskari. And take care now." He said goodbye before hanging up. "Alright, now, I just need to wrap up any last minute stuff before I leave Wednesday," he said to himself.

"Alright, we're all set to go," Sam said as he saw that his sisters, brother, and his brother's girlfriend were all packed and ready to go to Vekaiyu.

"I can't wait to see Vekaiyu," Erik said, smiling and wagging his tail.

Cecilia yawned. "Although, I wish it wasn't 2:08 in the morning."

Everyone soon boarded the Ilyushin Il-96-300PU, designated Confederate Alpha-Omega.

Confederate Alpha-Omega soon took off from Valdira International Airport, being escorted by Confederate MiG-35s and Su-35s. The plane was headed for Vekaiyu.

OOC: And now, Sam is heading for Vekaiyu.

Iyeski Upper Air Base, Ves Province, Vekaiyu

"Sir? Sir, we have determined a number of aircraft heading toward Vekaiyun air space. They appear Vulshainian in craft, and we have identified MiG-35s and Su-35s. They seem to be centered around a commercial plane."

The officer arched an eyebrow as the main radar and holographic images of the two identified plane types and a three-dimensional map of where their locations were were primed. "Has Raedion Lucari informed us of the visit?"

"No, no reports from them."

"Commercial aircraft fly the gulf every day. But they are never escorted by fighter jets. Do they honestly expect us to break international law and shoot down a non-military craft?" He pointed to the screen. "Don't answer that. Instead, contact the commercial jet and inform them to remove their military presence before entering Vekaiyun airspace."

"Affirmative."

A communications officer quickly drafted a message, checking it over a few times to ensure it made sense. He then dialed into the appropriate channel, believing it should be using a Vulshain channel. "You have been identified by the Vekaiyun Air Force. We have not been given notification nor given permission to have military-grade craft fly over our airspace. Please remove your military presence immediately. Repeat: please remove your military presence immediately."

The reply came quickly. "This is Confederate Alpha-Omega. We are currently carrying His Majesty, King Samuil Rainard, Monarch of the Confederacy of Vulshain. We apologize for not contacting you about our fighter escort. Will you be providing a fighter escort?"

The communications officer was quick with a response. "Vekaiyu does not normally provide escorts unless it believes it is necessary. For this event, Vekaiyu has determined an escort is not necessary."

"Understood." The Vulshainian fighter escort departed, heading back home. Samuil's plane began to approach Vekaiyu.

Inside the plane, Erik was anxious to see Vekaiyu. "I can't wait to see Eldura, Odul, and well, everything!"

"Calm down, Erik. I'm pretty sure everything is going to be there," Coline told him.

Sam smiled. He was happy for his brother, although he was tad bit jealous. "I hope that I find someone one day, too."

Sam looked outside as he watched the fighter escort depart. "Must be getting close to Vekaiyu," he thought.

"Hey Ikrisia... um, Ikrisia!" Visela watched as the Vekaiyun Premier finished a lap in the rather impressive pool room in Verveni Hall. Adorned with various statues, a marbled floor, and cascading vines and plants, the room was definitely serene, especially when daylight passed through the glass ceiling above.

"No need to shout," she replied with a slight smile, reaching the edge closest to where Visela stood. She grabbed the edge with both hands and propelled herself out of the water.

"Your secretary wanted to inform you that the delegation from Vulshain should be arriving in an hour or so."

"An hour?" she replied, looking back at her. "I'm... kind of not ready for the encounter." Still slightly euphoric over the closure of Project Uveshk and the fact that she was on good terms with her father for the time being, she had taken longer than usual at getting back into her role as Premier and catching up to her work. She would much rather spend time with her father or go on a dive by herself. However, she was aware of the duties she promised to her people and the unfinished work would rest over her, preventing her from having too much fun.

"Yeah I figured," Visela replied. "Your meeting clothes are in the locker room."

Her ears flicked as she ran the towel over them to get the water out. "Yeah I'll change. And why are you walking around like a servant. I don't need one of those."

"You'd be swimming still if it weren't for me."

Ikrisia frowned. "Point taken. I can tell you want something though." She set the towel down and stood up. "What is it?"

"Well, I was hoping you'd be able to test the gear I created for one. Second, I was hoping I could start up a school for Marine Studies." She laughed. "The latter is more of a dream I guess. Future work. But if you could-"

"I don't have that jurisdiction," Ikrisia replied. "Yeah I'll test your stuff, but I can't just grant people rights to make schools. The Premier position isn't as powerful as it once was, and furthermore what training would you have as a provost? Lesson plans? Accreditation?"

"Ah. Never did quite assimilate into Vekaiyun society."

"It's not impossible. Just hard. But it's worth doing the hard things, because if all we did was easy things, nothing great would ever be achieved."

"But being late... does that factor into anything?" She smiled.

"Depends on how you handle it I guess. Vekaiyuns? Big deal. Rest of the world? Apparently more laid-back."

"Fascinating," she said as she followed Ikrisia to the door. "They still get stuff done?"

"Yeah. Look you don't need to hang around here. Maybe apply for a teaching position somewhere?"

"Professorship."

"Aim high. I like it." She smirked. "Okay. Let me take a quick shower and get changed. Coordinators should have everything else in place."

"Of course, later."

"Cheers."

"This is Confederate Alpha-Omega, contacting Eldura International Airport for landing clearance," the pilot contacted the control tower.

Sam was getting ready. He wore his brown Ground Forces uniform. Everyone was ready. Taisyia, Cecilia, and Natalka were wearing their uniforms. Taisyia and Natalka wearing the brown Confederate Ground Forces uniforms, while Cecilia wore her Air Force uniform. Only Coline and Erik didn't wear uniforms. They wore very nice looking clothes, their Sunday's best if you would.

"Alright, is everyone ready for this," Sam asked. His family (and Erik's girlfriend) nodded. Sam took a deep breath and exhaled. "Well, Dad, we're here. We're finally in Vekaiyu."

The Vekaiyun Government and Armed Forces had created a fairly welcoming atmosphere for the Vulshain King and Royal Family. World leaders have visited Vekaiyu since Ikrisia's rise to power, and with each visit they had become better and better at welcoming leaders. Whereas before Vekaiyu would maintain in an often cold manner its own customs regardless of the level of comfort to the visitor, now they did their homework, blended their own unusual greetings with that of the more common practices across the realm, creating a certain creole that had its own charm.

With a runway primed for a taxiing plane, Vekaiyun soldiers dressed in their modern uniforms and foreboding appearances lined a carpet of red lined on the sides with Vekaiyun Goldenrod, the color of the Vekaiyun Star in the flag. In front of the procession was Ikrisia Levinile, wearing her common premier outfit and with a hint of chlorine smell from her midday swim. To her right was human Kral Commodore Yamano Nevikalu, standing in a red uniform common for his title. His appearance wasn't absolutely necessary, but for Ikrisia it was political, to show that Vekaiyu was indeed a state of qualifications and not a state of species.

She leaned over to the man in charge of the Vekaiyun Armed Forces. "Everything in order?"

"Yes Ma'am," Nevikalu replied. "Those coordinators were here bright and early goin' over their places."

"Good, good," she replied as the plane came to a halt. Stairs were quickly rolled over to the doorway of the vehicle.

The plane touched down perfectly. Sam straightened his uniform and braced himself. He had arrived in Vekaiyu, the land where his father was born. A CPG (OOC: Confederate Protection Guard, similar to the American Secret Service) opened the door. "Everything look okay, Fred," Sam asked, whispering to the CPG.

"So far so good," Fred whispered back. Sam nodded as he began to walk down the steps. The first thing that he noticed was the color red. There was a lot of red. "Wow, there's a lot of red. Hm...Who is that? Is that..." He was looking right at a white and gray furred vulpine vixen wearing a white and black uniform with a Maltese cross on it. She was standing next to a human wearing a red uniform. Sam noticed some of the Vekaiyun vulpines were missing tails. Luckily, he succeeded in not instinctly grabbing his own tail to make sure it was still attached.

He walked down the stairs, smiling at the Premier of the Holy Republic of Vekaiyu: Ikrisia Levinile.

Meanwhile....

Max Golden Praetus, dressed in civilian clothing, was busy taking pictures. He wore a press ID badge as well. No one spotted anything unusual about him.

As he finished walking down the cascade of steps, the soldiers lining the walkway stood to attention and maintained a Vekaiyun salute: a right hand slightly tilted next to the head.

"Ah, welcome to the Vekaiyun Holy Republic," Ikrisia greeted. "I hope your trip was well for both you and your family. I apologize for our defense forces - Vekaiyu does not allow foreign fighters to fly over its borders unless cleared to do so beforehand. Nevertheless, I hope it wasn't too much of a disturbance."

Sayli Novoleskvu, the Vekaiyun Foreign Officer to Vulshain, approached the group. She was quick to offer a jaku-wooden box inlaid with silver to represent twisting vines so common in traditional Vekaiyun artwork and intricately carved with words written in Unonian. "On behalf of the nation of Vekaiyu, I present to you this box full of the finest cloves from Ves," she said with a smile.

Sam smiled as he took the box from Sayli Novoleskvu. "Thank you, Kivia Novoleskvu. I am honored to receive this gift. I have two gifts for Premier Levinile." He handed the box to Natalka. A CPG then handed Sam one of the silver boxes with the Vulshainian national seal on it. Sam opened it.

Inside was a bracelet with golden yellow diamonds and aquamarines carved into the shapes of suns and moons. "This is for you. This bracelet was made by our finest jewelers and crafters. I am sure that they would be honored that this bracelet will become a symbol of friendship between Vulshain and Vekaiyu."

"Why thank you," Ikrisia replied. "The gift would look great i our Ambassador Museum in Eldura where everyone can enjoy it."

Sam smiled. He had intended that the bracelet would be worn, but he agreed that it would look better in Vekaiyu's Ambassador Museum. He then handed the box to Sayli Novoleskvu who smiled while taking the box. Sam said something to the CPG, who nodded.

The CPG opened the box, revealing inside was a bluish-white diamond pendant, carved into the shape of a fox, hung from a chain of star-shaped amethysts. Sam took the necklace and carefully placed it around Ikrisia's neck. "This is a personal gift from one leader to another," he said as he stepped back to take a look at her. Several photographers and news crews captured the moment.

The guards near Ikrisia hesitated at the sight of another person putting their hands near the neck of their leader, but Ikrisia's inaction prevented any problems. "Thank you," she replied.
Sam smiled. "You're welcome. It looks very lovely on you." Sam continued to smile, although he was mentally screaming at himself for saying that. He did a slight bow to her. "I hope you will wear it and cherish what it symbolizes: the friendship between two nations." He then decided to introdue his family. "Allow me to introduce you to my family."
"This is Royal Confederate Premier Cecilia Rainard, my older sister." Cecilia smiled as she did a slight bow. "It is an honor to meet you Lady Premier Levinile."

"This is Royal Secretary Taisyia Rainard, another of my older sisters." Taisyia did a slight bow as well as she greeted Ikrisia. Next up was Natalka.

"This is Marshal of the Vulshainian Confederacy Natalka Rainard, my older sister, and Cecilia's sororal twin sister." Indeed, except for their different colored eyes, hair, and fur patterns, both Cecilia and Natalka looked almost identical to each other. Natalka greeted Ikrisia. "This is Erik Rainard, my younger brother and this is his girlfriend, Coline Konstancja, one of Vulshain's 2011 Winter Olympic athletes." Both Coline and Erik greeted her. "My grandmother, Queen Dowager Anatansya Olekalexein sends her greetings as well. She was not able to travel with us due to her duites, I'm afraid."

Ikrisia watched as his clan was introduced. She bowed as they were named and smiled appropriately. "Pleased to meet you," she replied when the last one spoke. "I would introduce you to my family, but unfortunately I haven't any around. Nevertheless, I welcome you all to Vekaiyu and hope that our nation will be hospitable and comfortable to your likings."

Sam nodded. "I see." Sam didn't know what to say when Ikrisia said that she didn't have any family. It must have been hard for her not having anyone to support her through the tough times upon becoming Premier. "And about the fighter escort, it was no problem. It was our fault for not letting you know beforehand." Sam then asked, "If it isn't much trouble, we would like to rest for a bit after our long trip here."

"Certainly," she replied. "There are guest quarters at Veruvi Hall, but Eldura has many hotels, but I believe your government requested the former, which is fine. It's only about a three mile journey eastward."

Sam smiled. "Thank you. My family and I appreciate it very much. And to be honest, I would actually prefer to stay at Veruvi Hall. My father was born in this city and I look forward to seeing his homeland."

"Naturally," she replied. "Eldura is a very big city. I believe it is the largest vulpine city in the world, but I could be wrong. Nevertheless it's got quite a bit of history that might interest both you and your family. It's also fairly close to countryside."

Sam smiled. "I am very interested in its history. Thank you. Shall we get going then?"

"Of course," she replied as the guards maintained their stance.

The group walked towards a waiting car. As they got closer to the car, some of the reporters tried to get a better shot, but were held off by the guards. Then, Max Golden Praetus somehow shoved a guard aside as he held out not a camera, but a gun. He fired two shots. Being nearby, Fred tackled Max. Sam, who was closest to Ikrisia yelled out, "Look out!" He shielded Ikrisia, trying to pull her down to the ground. The bullets missed Sam and Ikrisia, striking the car's side mirror instead. Several CPGs and Vekaiyun guards had tackled Max to the ground, having successfully taken away his gun. "Your Majesty are you alright?"

"I'm fine. Here, let me help you up," he said, while helping Ikrisia. "Are you okay," he asked her.

Ikrisia gritted her teeth, angry. She remembered when Damon was shot outside of Veruvi Hall and how Selvala's ineptitude nearly cost the nation a war. She vowed never again to have an assassination attempt happen in Vekaiyu, but apparently she had not done all she could to prevent such an event. Could it be prevented? Perhaps not. But an example could be made. "I'm fine," she replied.

"I'm glad to hear that." He smiled at her. Then, the assassin yelled out. "Fools! Rygard's wrath will not be denied! You shall die Premier Ikrisia Levinile! Rygard shall turn the world red with the blood of you and your mongrel kind!"

Max bit something inside his mouth. Suddenly, he began to convulse as blue foam began to come out of his mouth. "Damn, get away from him!" Fred yelled out as he recognized that the assassin had activated some sort of suicidal device. The chemicals began to eat the assassin's face away.

Sam glared at the dead assassin. "At least we know who he was working for. That's the problem with Rygard: its leaders are nothing but warmongering, racist cowards."

Ikrisia narrowed her eyes after her first shot and continued to pepper his body in lead. "An example must be made," she muttered as she walked up to the assailant and quickly cut his thumb off with a shiny knife as Nevikalu followed her. "Clearly this guy wants us to attack said nation," she added to him.

"Or he's just a nut," he replied frankly. "Ya okay there ma'am?"

"Fine," Ikrisia replied.
"Just... unfortunate."

Sam walked up to Ikrisia as he watched her. "One problem with," he said. "Rygard has already declared war against Vekaiyu. It was after the 2010 Rygardi Embassy Shootings in my nation's capital. Rygard declared war against Vulshain, Vekaiyu, Southern Yugoslavia, East Malaysia, and the Free Pacific States after refusing to turn over the guards involved in the shootings."

"And I agree: an example must be made. Although, I highly doubt sending his thumb back to them will do much good. From what I've heard, the Rygardi are no strangers to death and cruelty: they have been known to wear fur: our furs."

"The island is in ruines after the combined attacks of the coalition nations. It is too weak and would be silly to attack it as it would only result in more leveled buildings and lost Vekaiyun lives. I don't need to make an example with them, but terrorists in general. So, I'll put the thumb next to the bracelet in the museum."

Sam gave her a puzzled look before smiling. "I don't know about putting it next to the bracelet. Might send the wrong message, but that's just me. Still, Rygard maybe wounded, but it still has some fight left. But enough about this: I'm just glad you're unharmed. Besides, I think we all could rest after this ordeal." He was starting to like Ikrisia: she had a lot of qualities he admired.

She smirked. "It's the commanding officer in me. Vekaiyu needs a strong yet fair leader, something it hasn't had in ages." She hailed for a few guards to lead them to the collection of limousines parked at the end of the red and gold carpet.

Sam smiled. "Ah. A fellow soldier. I was once a commanding officer myself back during the 2003-2006 Vulshainian Civil War." Sam wondered if her lack of a tail was because of a war injury.

She offered her hand for them to get into a limo, Nevikalu behind her, knowing better than to try and offer the same gesture to her.

Sam smiled. "Thank you, Premier Levinile." He allowed his family to enter the limo first before getting in. He watched as Ikrisia sat next to him.

The limos began to move. "Well, that was certainly a unwanted surprise," Cecilia said. "Just once, can't the assassins stay home?"

"Well, at least no one was hurt. Assassin not included," Natalka said with a smirk. "I was surprised you killed him. It might have been better to have gotten some information from him first before strapping him to an electric chair and frying him."

"I don't think they use electric chairs here," Erik replied.

"Nah," Yamano Nevikalu replied. "We just hang or put them in some kind of prisoner experimenation program or something."

Sam looked at him. "Hm...You know there has been talk in my nation for a new type of execution: they call cryo-execution. They say it's supposed to be humane than any other form of execution. It uses liquid nitrogen to flash freeze the criminal, instantly killing them. I'm afraid that chemistry isn't my strong point, and since I'm the king, I have to decide if we should use this death by flash freezing."

"That would be quite painful," Ikrisia replied. "People don't freeze instantly - it takes a bit of time for the heat transfer to complete. I'd say depending on how the method is performed, one could last for three to eight seconds."

"Hm...Interesting. It seems that you know a great deal about chemistry," Sam said with a smile. He was having trouble keeping from wagging his tail.

"It has nothing to do with chemistry," she added as she looked out the window of the limo. "Just basic heat transfer. Most humane way of killing someone would probably be to blow them up. It would be instant."

Sam nodded. "I see. Vulshain usually uses hanging, firing squads, or the electric chair. Before he was removed from power, gassing was used when Rivers was in charge...and well...for vulpines and lobos, skinned alive was the common form of punishment for anyone who didn't agree with his regime."

Ikrisia shrugged slightly as she continued to look out the window.

Sam decided to change the subject. "I'm glad that you're okay," he told her.

"Likewise," she replied.

Sam smiled. "So, how do you like the necklace? I hope you didn't mind me putting it on you."

"It's nice," she replied with a smirk. "And it's okay. If I thought someone I interacted with was going to kill me they'd probably be dead by now."

"I fully understand." Sam then mentioned that the same was true for him as well. He did wonder why she had smirked when she said that the necklace was nice. "I hope you haven't forgotten about our deal." He smiled at her.

Ikrisia paused. "I'm not sure what you mean by a deal. I don't recall any tenative national deals on the schedule."

Sam chuckled. "I was referring to our swimming race." Cecilia smiled.

"You better be careful, Premier. My little brother is very skilled. He wasn't the swimming team's star captain for both high school and college for nothing."

Sam shrugged. "It's true, but I don't like to brag."

"And he's quite modest to boot," Taisyia added.

"I see," Ikrisia replied. "I can swim well, but I've recently taken a hobby to diving."

"Diving? I might join you then, if that's okay with you Premier. Um...Do you mind if I just call you Ikrisia?"

She paused, then shook her head. "No, Ikrisia is fine."

Sam noticed her pause. "If you're not comfortable with that, I can continue to call you Premier. I don't want to offend you."

"If I wasn't, I'd say no," she replied politely

Sam noticed she was trying to be polite, but the way she said it, wasn't. He didn't point that out though. He nodded. "You may call me Sam," he said with a smile. "You mentioned you have taken up diving as a hobby. What other hobbies do you have?"

Ikrisia turned to him. "Well, I tend to enjoy swimming, diving, listening to music, reading, and reflecting."

Sam nodded. "I see we like some of the same hobbies. I like swimming, reading, and listening to music, but I also to play music. I'm very good at the flute. Maybe I'll play a song for you while I'm here. I also like to practice my martial arts skills too."

She nodded. "That sounds like fun, thank you. Might I ask what the main purpose of your visit is?"

Sam smiled, then he was asked the purpose of his visit. "I am here in order to strengthen relations between our two nations. I had also hope to establish some treaties, like trade and research agreeements between Vulshain and Vekaiyu. While Vekaiyu came to Vulshain's aid in overthrowing Merrill Rivers, when Vekaiyu was ruled by Max Venavle, he caused a lot of tension between our two nations."

"I want to see if I can repair the damage he did to the relations between our two countries," he answered.

"Also, on a more personal reason, I have always wanted to visit the nation of my father's birth."

"Very well," Ikrisia replied. "I believe we can work on obtaining such goals."

The group entered the main foyer of Verveni Hall. The room immediately opened up with scenes of a pleasantly-painted Vekaiyun sky located above. Below was marbled floor, and the walls were constructed of jaku wood and marble. Columns were placed strategically in the room and seemed to frame the center of the room, which had a fountain in the center, covered in living ivy.

Sam was amazed. "Wow, amazing work. What style is it? Baroque? Rococo? Neoclassism?"

"Vekaiyun," she said with a slight smile.

"I see. So what can you tell me about Verveni Hall?"

She shrugged. "There's not much to know here. It used to be where they royalty was, but since the royal family was deposed, it's been mostly used for some governmental activity and where the premier lives."

"So, when was the palace built," Cecilia asked.

Ikrisia paused, then started to walk down the main hallway. "I think 1735. It's had renovations though."

Sam and the others followed her. "It doesn't seem very regal in design. If I remember correctly, the Vekaiyun monarches didn't want to throw around their wealth that insulted the lower classes."

She nodded. "That's because they were socialist for centuries, or somehow managed to stay in power as the nation became socialist. It's Vekaiyun humility. Anyway," she pointed to her left and right. "Guest quarters down the left hallway, right is for more social occasions."

"I see. So what famous rooms and chambers can you tell me about," Sam asked.

"Well there's a ballroom, an art room, a pretty neat pool room, conference room, a room that's devoted to a large swimmable aquarium, a ballroom, and an elegant dining room among other rooms."

"I believe it is almost dinner time, so we'll put our stuff in our rooms and join you in the dining room," Sam said.

"Very well," she replied. "The dining room is in the main hallway, then go down the first right hallway. It's the fourth room on the left."

"Thank you, Ikrisia," Sam smiled at her before he and his family left for their rooms. "I hope to see you there," he said, still smiling, before heading to his room.

The Rainard Family, after putting their bags up, headed for the dining hall. Sam smiled at Ikrisia. "Tell me, what do you think about living here in the palace?"

"I'm getting used to it," she replied. "Though it's really only temporary for me until the younger Kivelvov is ready to move back in when she gets the throne."

"I see. Once she is restored to the throne, where will you live? I guess you could still here," Sam replied.

"Maybe," she replied. "But it's in the future and for now I'm just concerned with the present and the present and future state of the nation."

"That's a good idea, Ikrisia. I'm glad that Vekaiyu has a wise and strong-willed leader such as you running things."

Shrugging, Ikrisia started to walk down the main hall, making sure the others followed. "It's what Vekaiyu needs. Just trying to give the natiion what it needs, that's all."

Sam nodded before looking around. "You are definitely doing a splendid job, in my personal opinion. So, what are we having for dinner, if you don't me asking."

"In Vekaiyu the dinners aren't very big - it's lunch that is the big meal of the day, so I hope that's not disappointing. As for dinner, probably just kikale and some crackers with cheese. Some clove tea, and slices of roast lamb in some sauce to compliment the kikale. It's really small portions though."

"It is no problem. We Vulshainians are the same as Vekaiyuns, although our cuisine is much different. We do tend to eat a lot of oranges, since oranges are grown quite a lot in Vulshain.
"
"I see. Those don't grow very much here."

"Oh? Not much interest in growing them, I guess, or is it the soil?"

"Soil's fine. Just not enough interest, I believe." She approached two large doors. "Anyway, behind these doors in the dining room."

Sam nodded. "I've heard that Listonia and Vekaiyu will eventually be uniting. That is a good thing. Listonia's argicultural industry is quite large and will surely benefit Vekaiyu, not to mention, it will provide the Listonians with defensive benefits against attacks from other nations.

"That's mostly up to the Kivreskov to decide, but I believe it'd be a benefit to Vekaiyu, yes. The Listonian Premier is visiting Eldura today as well." She opened up the doors and before them was a rather large room with a red and gold-colored tile floor, a large circular jaku-wood table, and walls painted with Vekaiyun natural scenery of forests, fields, and even an old Vekaiyun village painted in the far left corner of the room. The food was already placed at their seats, along with a bottle of wine at the presumed 'head' of the circular table.

Sam enjoyed the Vekaiyun architecture, as the use of natural scenery made the atmosphere seem peaceful and relaxing. "I wonder what the media is saying about what happened at the airport," Erik said.

"The Vekaiyun media will probably try to tell the truth, although, and I hope they don't, but they most certainly will, other media sources will try and protray me as a knight in shining armor with Ikrisia as the damsel in distress. I believe that if they are going to cover the news, they should be at least truthful about it," Sam answered.

"And not try to make this into some sort of carnival," he added.

Ikrisia arched an eyebrow as she walked toward her seat. "Yyyyeah," she replied, well-aware of the Vekaiyun media customs and her portrayal in the media.

Sam sat down next to her. He had noticed her reply, but paid it no heed. "I hope our enemies don't try to twist the truth," he said. "You mentioned that Premier Stapen Evesuni is here in Vekaiyu. If it isn't too much of a problem, I would like to meet him."

"Yes, the Premier of Listonia is here," Ikrisia replied. "He's probably available today. I can contact him if you want." Ikrisia pulled out her chair but, in common Vekaiyun tradition, the host would sit last.

Sam smiled. "I would appreciate it, thank you." Everyone sat down, except for Ikrisia. "So, I guess you had quite a busy schedule when I called to let you know that I was coming, huh?"

Ikrisia paused as she moved her chair over and sat down. She knew he had no idea what went on at the research complex, but she needed a good story to cover it up. She was quick with a readied lie. "Yes. I was vacationing in the Levenasi for a few days. I then came back to meet the Listonian Premier."

Sam noticed her pause, but said nothing about it. "Hm...why did she pause? Must be nothing," he thought. Instead he said, "That's good. It's always a good idea to get away from the stress of being the leader of an entire nation once in a while. I probably need to have a vacation once my tour of the East Pacific is over."

Cecilia then asked, "Will the Listonian Premier be joining us?"

"For dinner today? No. He informed me he would not be able to make it today. I believe he will be available later today or tomorrow though."

Cecilia nodded. Sam then asked, "If it's possible I would like to meet your the Sirens of your Olympic swimming team. If that's not a problem that is. I feel that they should be congratulated. They were cheered by all of Vulshain in last year's Summer Olympics, even me. But, don't tell them that they will be meeting me." Sam smiled.

Ikrisia frowned. "They live across the Vekaiyun nation - not grouped in any one location. They're also training for the next games, so they probably won't be available."

Sam shrugged. "That's alright. However, please tell them that the King of Vulshain sends his congratulations for inspiring others and that I wish them good luck in this year's Summer Olympics."

Erik smirked. "I hope to meet them when I attend this year's games."

Coline smiled as well. "Same here." She looked at her food. She was used to eating food similar to that of Southern Yugoslavia. Right now, she was hoping for maybe country fried steak and mashed potatoes. Still, for the sake of Erik, she would eat it. She had never eaten kikale before.

"Indeed, I will send them regards. They are anticipated to do well this year. I was asked to do some distance swimming event, but I declined. I don't want to prohibit someone else from their successes."

Sam was surprised. "I didn't think that world leaders could take part in the Olympics."

She shrugged after eating some Kikale. "Apparently they can. I don't know I didn't look into it that much. I figured it was a joke."

Sam nodded. "I see." Sam then asked, "May I ask you a question."

"Certainly."

"Did you remove your tail to help you with your swimming? If you're not comfortable answering that question, it's okay."

Ikrisia smirked and suppressed a laugh as she finished eating another bite. "I did it for that and for fighting. One cannot be an officer on a battlefield and be worried with having a flag attached at the rear."

Sam did his best to suppress a laugh, but failed. "Tell me about it. When I served in the military, I almost had my tail shot off by enemy fire while single-handedly saving the survivors of my unit after we had been ambushed by enemy forces." Sam stopped for a moment. "Unfortunately, I lost my best friend in that ambush." He sighed.

"One cannot dwell on the losses of others."

Sam nodded. "That's true. You just have to keep on fighting to honor their sacrifices." Sam took a bit of his meal. "But I don't want to ruin the mood here." He thought about what to say next. "In Vulshain, we don't cut off our tails, probably an influence from Southern Yugoslavia, since in their culture, cutting off one's tail is taboo. So, we have to conditioned ourselves to swim with
them still attached."
Sam smiled at her.

"I understand. Vekaiyuns tend to go to extreme limits to ensure they have competitive edge."

Sam smirked. "I see. Well, we'll have to see what happens when you and I swim against each other."

Ikrisia didn't answer but instead attended to her food. She would've rather dived, but swimming might be refreshing.

Sam set his fork and knife down on his now empty plate. "It was very delicious. Thank you and please give my compliments to the cooks," he said to Ikrisia. He then offered to refill her tea and wine. "If I may ask, do any of the rooms hold historical importance and signficance? Say for example, the Hall of Mirrored Lights?"

The other members of the Rainard Family were just about finished as well, their plates almost empty. They were also interested in Verveni Hall, too.

"Well, the place was built in the early 1700's, as I already said, but there's still a bit of history in it, yes. There's the mirrored room you speak of which has a beautiful green ceiling and stained glass recovered from a cathedral in Kunnat when the Dverians began converting said churches to protestant ones. It's being debated whether or not they should be returned."

Ikrisia pushed her plate away from her. "The main bedchamber is where the king once slept. Max took the room when he rose to power, and it was the same room where he was killed. It's kind of neat actually - there is a large stain in the jaku floor from the blood that billowed out from his neck. They haven't been able to get rid of it. The place has a swimming pool and a swimable aquarium in it too. There is an extensive library and a sizable ballroom too."

"I see. I remember reading about the Dverian invasion. I'm glad that Listonia was able to regain its independence from Dveria, although I am worried about Dveria's masters."

He asked if she would like him to refill her drinks.

Upon hearing about the blood stain, Sam smiled. "He certainly deserved it. To tell you the truth, Max and Rivers were about the same, both preaching their racist-dogma." Sam had to restrain himself from raising his voice, although his grip on the pitcher of tea was evident of his hatred towards bigots and madmen like Max and Rivers. "Although, he should have been strapped to an electric chair."

When he realized he was gripping the pitcher, he relaxed, or at least tried to. "Anyhow, I remember hearing about something called the Room of the Mother Earth. Didn't it caused a scandal because some of the statues were...improper?"

"I don't understand," she replied. "Art is art, especially if it is done well. It shouldn't be censored."

Sam smiled as he put down the pitcher after refilling her drinks. "I agree. That's something people need to understand more: art, especially when well done, should never be censored. Unfortunately, if the Federalists, or worse the Conversatives, win the elections for the Speaker of Parliament back in Vulshain, they may not care about that." He drank some of his tea. "Between you and me, Vulshain and Vekaiyu have suffered at the hands of radical hatemongers who nearly brought our nations to the brink of destruction. Maybe working together, we can help each other in removing those who would try to restore such ideals as those held by Rivers and Max for good."

Cecilia decided to change the subject before her brother tried to start a speech. "You mentioned a ballroom. Since being handed the reins of leadership, has it been used much?"

"I already have," Ikrisia replied. "We've just hanged out ten thousandth Maxist sympathizer a week ago or so. It might be a little harsh, but it's weaknesses that they want to exploit."

Ikrisia nodded at the ballroom comment. "Off and on, for various functions in the government and military."

Sam smiled and nodded. "I see." While deep down, he wouldn't have hung them all, and he might have given a few the chance to redeem themselves, she might be right. "Maybe we could have a function. Not in my honor of course! I was actually thinking of maybe a charity function where the guests can donate to various charities such as those that would most certainly benefit the citizens of Iruk and Nilisa who were deeply hurt by the Vekaiyun Civil War. I'll even help as well. I...um...heard about that statue of you that members of my government erected in Nilisa."

Sam was a little embarrassed about it. "I was...um...inappropriate. They should have done something else, maybe a statue that symbolized peace or hope or something along those lines."

"Yeah I don't really think I deserve a statue," she replied, finishing off a glass. "I've only just been Premier for a few months then. It wasn't me who did it, it was the people and the soldiers who worked to create such a scenario for them."
