"Thanks," she replied. "Though I should say I think my favorite swimming outfit is becoming some white diving gear I obtained not too long ago. It's very nice to wear. As for the sport, I was in underwater hockey for a few years, but I wasn't that good. I played mostly so I had something to do when I wasn't studying for college."

Sam nodded as he swam next to her. "I see. What was your major and where did you graduate?" He felt strange being around Ikrisia. He had always had trouble talking with the opposite sex, but somehow, he felt comfortable and not nervous when he talked with her. Was it because they were world leaders? Was it because they had some of the same interests? Sam didn't know, but he did know that he was comfortable being around her.

His tail wagged in the water.

"I studied chemistry at Eldura University," she replied. "It wasn't that difficult for me, so that's why I took swimming and underwater hockey during my college years."

Sam nodded as he laid on his back and did a few backstrokes. "Me, I went to Kitsuniva Academic University and studied engineering. I've always been fascinated by engineering. It wasn't too difficult, so I took up swimming and music. My sisters persuaded me to do some art classes over the summer, and while I thought it would be a waste of time, I soon discovered that I actually had a knack for sketching and painting. After a while, I took up gymnastics. I still try to squeeze in some acrobatic execrises in to my busy schedule. I've been meaning to ask you something important: you remember me asking you to help me in finding my sister, Anna?"

Meanwhile....

Cecilia woke up from a wonderful dream. She stretched while opening a fang-filled mouth to yawn. She missed Stu, but she knew she had responsibilities as the Confederate Royal Premier. Although, that didn't stop her from wondering what Stu was up to. She reached over and dialed his number on her cellphone. She smiled as she listened to phone ring while lying on her stomach on the bed her legs going back and forth as she wagged her tail.

G Ring, Floor -1, The Octagon, District of Skopje

Stu's black government issue EJA sedan pulled into the parking lot of the headquarters of Southern Yugoslavia's Department of Defense and military, the Octagon. Stu grabbed his cup of coffee, briefcase and service cap and stepped out of his car, into the pouring rain. He walked as he placed his hat square on his head, then clutched at his raincoat, the wind blowing heavily. "Some morning. At least the weatherman was right for once." Stu thought to himself. He approached the entrance and walked into the Octagon, removing his cap, placing it under his arm. His shoes squeaked as he walked along the tile floor. He said good morning to the several armed Republican Guardsmen located in the lobby area, and made his way through the multiple security checks to get through each Ring. He then made his way over to the elevator. He slid in his identification card then pressed his thumb to the fingerprint scanner, which also read his body heat temperature and pulse. At the same time, his retina was scanned, finishing the security check and opened the elevator door. He walked in and selected his floor. He rode the elevator down to the -1st floor and stepped out. He passed through the corridor until he reached his office.

Stu walked into his office, shutting the door behind him, on the -1st floor in the G Ring of the Octagon and sat his briefcase next to his desk. He placed his service cap on the hook next to the door, and removed his soaked raincoat. He sat in his black leather rolling chair, and pressed the button to turn on his computer. He looked at his phone, and saw that the light above the "Line 1" button was flashing. Stu took a sip of his coffee and put it back on his desk. He picked up the phone and pressed the "Line 1" button. In Lobonese, he answered.

"Colonel Riskotov."

When Cecilia heard Stu answered in Lobonese, she smiled. "Oh hello, Stu. It's me, Cecilia," she answered in Lobonese. "I was just calling to let you know that I'm doing okay. And to let you know that I'm okay here in Vekaiyu. So, how are you doing? Everything okay in Southern Yugoslavia?"

Stu smiled when he heard Cecilia's voice on the other end. "Morning, Cecilia. Just got into work. I'm doing okay, nothing to complain about. Raining today here. So how's Vekaiyu?"

Cecilia smiled. "Oh everything's going okay here. Turns out Premier Levinile wants to strengthen Southern Yugoslavian-Vekaiyun relations. Might be a good idea, especially after that situation involving the Vekaiyun sub in your waters."

When she heard that it was raining there, she laughed a bit. "It's actually sunny here. Not a cloud in the sky." She was glad to hear his voice. "By the way, after my brother's visit to some more countries here, we'll be returning to Vulshain for a bit. During that time, I might convince him to invite you and Zach to Vulshain for a couple of weeks."

Thunder shook Stu's office. "If I remember correctly, it's still in our custody." He pulled a file out of the cabinet and opened it. Stu mumbled something to himself regarding the sub, dry dock, and CBRN teams finding small amounts of radiation, and nothing more. "And the crew is still being processed through the judicial system... facing trial today..." He flipped a few pages in the file. "Okay, yeah. I'll talk to Zach about Premier Levinile and Vekaiyu." He put the file back into the cabinet.

He smiled when he thought about visiting Vulshain. "I could convince Zach to make a state visit to Vulshain when you get back. Let me know a little in advance so we can make preparations."

Cecilia smiled. "I will. Well, I better get ready, and you probably have a lot of work to do. It was nice talking to you, Stu. I'll let you know in advance when you and Zach can visit. Goodbye for now, and I love you."

"Okay, I'll talk to you later. I love you, too." Stu replied, and hung up the phone. He turned to his computer and began sifting through the pile of paperwork on his desk. Thunder shook his office again. "This is some storm. Hope it'll blow over soon."

Cecilia hung up her phone after he had hung up. She decided to get dressed...

----------------------------------

Coline nudged her boyfriend to wake up. "Five more minutes," he moaned.

"Oh get up you lazy fur," she said.

"Alright..."

He got up. He then saw that Coline was already dressed. She was wearing a lady's business suit. "Didn't think you own one?"

"Phfft! Besides, you're here on official business as a member of the Rainard Royal Family." "Also, I need to keep you occupied while your family finds you some birthday presents."

------------------------------------------------

Taisyia had already gotten dressed, putting her uniform back on, and was now combing her hair.

------------------------------------------

Natalka straightened her uniform as she checked herself in the mirror.

((collaborative post between Vulshain and I))

Ikrisia was confused. The abrupt change of subject implied he was either going to ask for a favor or was building up for something else. "Vaguely," she replied. "Yes, vaguely." She felt like perhaps changing the subject back to college and talking about things that happened there, but she decided against it.

Sam looked at her. "You see, finding my sister Anna is one of the reasons I'm here. I have been looking for my siblings ever since my parents died during the Vulshainian Civil War. They're all I have left. I...I'm sorry. I shouldn't pressure you with my personal problems, but if you hear anything, please let me know. He gave her a look that asked if she understood what it was like trying to find a lost loved one.

Ikrisia nodded. "Very well, if I hear something I will say it. But I must caution. Vekaiyu has over 200 million people living in it. Unless she kept her name the same, it'll be really hard finding her. We do a good job with keeping people in check, but some fall through the cracks now and then, so to speak."

Sam nodded. "Thank you. Any help is most appreciated." Sam stopped for a moment. "Hm...You know I just remembered, and sorry for changing the subject, but I think we both agreed to race each other." Sam smiled as he got of the pool. He extended a hand to help Ikrisia out.

Ikrisia suppressed rolling her eyes. She wasn't in the mood to race, but if it meant holding up to a bargain, then she had to do it, at least to maintain honesty with herself. She grabbed his hand and pulled herself up.

Sam smiled as he helped her up. "Okay. From one side of the pool to the other and back. You ready?" Sam got into position. He recalled how he always won when he was younger: don't think about your opponent, pretend your opponent is not there. You are only racing one person: yourself. And race like you never raced before.

Ikrisia nodded. "Yes, we might as well then. That's a small distance, but I guess it's more of a test of sprinting and not endurance."

Sam nodded. He then returned his focus to the race. Sam shouted, "GO!" And he dove into the water and took off like a rocket.

Ikrisia followed in hot pursuit, preferring a front stroke and a strong kick to keep a good fast pace.

Sam was paying no heed to Ikrisia as he was using fast strokes and kicks, alternativing them with strong strokes. He soon reached the other side and turned around, making a beeline towards the other side.

Ikrisia was quick to turn around and dive underwater, pushing off with her feet and making a quick push forward. Sam was halfway there. Ikrisia then pulled ahead, using her agile vulpine frame to glide through the water, her suit helping to repel the fluid from her and streamline her through it. Sam swam faster than he had done before, using his agile body and speed to catch up to her.

Ikrisia maintained her lead, swimming and finally nearing the ledge of the pool.
Sam was only a few inches when Ikrisia reached the ledge of the pool. He reached the pool only a couple of seconds after Ikrisia had won. "Wow. Congratulations. You are quite skilled. I thought I had you there for a moment." He did a slight bow, while smiling. "I guess I have more training to do." He smiled at her as he pulled himself out and sat on the edge of the pool.

Ikrisia smirked a little as she pushed herself up onto the ledge, catching her breath a little. "It's probably the outfit," she replied.

"No offense, but I disagree," he replied back as he smiled at her, his tail slightly wagging.

Ikrisia noticed his tail. "You seem to have much movement come from that."

Sam smirked as his tail stopped wagging. "Well, as you explained last night that Vekaiyuns usually remove their tails for athletics or military occupations, it is not the same for us Vulshainians."

"Yes, I'm familiar with the differences in culture," she replied.

"The main reason for the difference is because of our past with the lobos of Southern Yugoslavia. When vulpines arrived during the Great Journey when an ancient land bridge in prehistoric times that connected Vekaiyu and Vulshain roughly ten thousand years ago, there were already lobos living in Vulshain. There were, as can be guessed, both times of war and peace between vulpines and lobos. Even before the rise of the Laiatan Protestant Church, it was taboo to willingly remove one's tail in lobo culture. Ancient vulpines probably adopted this custom and well, even those who have been influenced by Vekaiyun culture still refuse to remove their tails, except for accidents or injuries."

Ikrisia nodded again. "I've heard the stories of the land bridge and I'm aware of the cultural differences. While both sides are unique in their various quirks and personalities, I think those differences should be embraced and not neutralized. Vekaiyu has a constant worry of outside nations attempting to dilute its culture. Unfounded as the delusion may be, they will fight it if they believe it's threatening their culture. Therefore, one has to be careful. It's kind of best to just make it a learning experience and attempting to bridge some kind of mutual understanding, which helps to ease such fears."

Sam nodded. "That's true. I guess that worry is becoming more evident especially with these rumors of naturist and topless beaches opening up. But, it's like you said: we should embrace the differences in our cultures, not have them separate us. I guess you could say that my parents were a perfect example of embracing differences in customs. So, I agree with you."

Ikrisia arched an eyebrow. "I've still not heard of such things, regarding the beaches. One must be careful of taking rumors as face-value, of course." She began to stretch her neck a bit in continuation of her daily routine.

Sam shrugged. "It's probably just a rumor, but let's say it isn't, and they do decide to open them up. What would you do?"

"I'm not in position to do much of anything."

"I'm not asking what you do as a leader. I'm asking if you would support them or disapprove of them. A leader's approval or disapproval carries as much power as an order does."

"I'm aware of that," she replied as she stretched her fingers a bit. "But again, I don't think it's one of my duties to support or deny such a thing. That's up to the people and whatever resource they call upon. It's a cultural difference. I suppose the courts would be the first to handle it."

"Oh? How so? I'm not familiar or knowledgable about Vekaiyu's court systems."
"It would really depend on how the situation is brought up. If it is challenged in the courts, the courts will be the first to make a ruling on it. But More likely than not, the Kivreskov wouls wrestle over the issue."

Sam nodded. "I see. Hm..." Sam decided to go back to their earlier discussion about their time in school. "Well, I'm curious about you." Sam quickly realized how that sounded. "I...I mean on what happened to you when you were in college."
"I don't understand what you mean."

"I'm sorry. I mean could you tell me about what you studied in school, and about what was college like for you that is."

She paused to think. "College was alright. I spent most of the time in the labs doing work, or practicing for underwater hockey. I really didn't socialize if that's what you're getting at."

"Oh? So, you didn't have many friends huh? Must have been very lonely for you." Sam thought about his time in college. He had a few friends, but not many as he was either studying, doing work in the labs, or practicing for sports. "Did you travel aboard when you were in college? I mean did you take part in a foreign exchange student program or something."

"Yes," she replied. "I was involved in the Shiro Academny in Free Pacific States. I was mostly there to correct my English and improve my skills. I also worked on some of my research."

Sam's ears pecked up. He looked at her. "Well now, I'm jealous. I tried to get into Shiro, but there were only a few select spots, and for some reason, I didn't get picked." He mumbled something about something named Ivan and wealth being a factor for Sam not getting picked to go. "Anyhow, what was it like studying at Shiro?"
"Not too difficult, really." She replied. Her college studies were really never difficult, but she remained fairly low-key about her strengths. "There were interesting characters there who made the work less monotonous, but all in all I wouldn't call it a bad thing."

Sam smiled. "That's good. So, you mentioned being in the service. What branch of the military were in? I'm guessing you went in after college, correct?"

"Before, and I was in the military."

"Which branch? Ground forces, navy, air force, special forces?"

"Ground forces," she replied. "I served under the Vekaiyun army under ground operations during a few campaigns."

Nodding, he asked, "Where did you served at?"

"Abroad at certain locations." She tilted her head back to relax in the water a bit. "It helped me gain an appreciation for variety in cultures."

Sam nodded. "I didn't really serve abroad during my time in the Ground Forces. I was mostly deployed in Vulshain, during the Civil War, fighting against terrorists and insurgents, and other low-lifes."

"Yeah, I can relate. Most of the people who I fought against would sooner let someone more innocent than them die to save their life."

"Tell me about it. During the Vulshainian Civil War, a lot of criminals, especially thugs and gangsters tried to take over. Heck, we had to take down some crime boss who tried to crave out his own city-state nation. Like we were going to let him get away with that."

"I see," she replied.

"Yeah. But..." He sighed as he stretched his neck and back. "I'm glad to be here: in Vekaiyu, the land my father was born in. It is a very beautiful country. My father missed this place alot."

Ikrisia pulled herself out of the water, then used the palm of her hand to tap on the side of her head to remove any excess water out of the sides of her ears. "Oh. I understand," she added. "Where did he spend most of his time at in Vekaiyu? Like what city or province and anything of interest."

Sam thought for a moment. "Well, he was born here in Eldura, but he liked to travel to some of the nearby cities. I know that I have an uncle here in Vekaiyu: Dmitrii Rainard, who is my father's brother. Haven't heard much from him though. Anyhow, he did like the beach, especially around Kerilo and Ves. He took my mother to Ves for their honeymoon. He had planned to take us to see Ves after the war was over. Unfortunately..." Sam stopped for a moment as he sighed and his ears sunk downwards.

Ikrisia nodded, understanding the history behind his parents. "I understand."

"Thank you. I appreciate that. I've...come to terms with their...passing, although it's still hard, I'm afraid." He tapped some water out of his ears. "My father had wanted to show us Odul."

"It's a nice pilgrimage to go there. One of the most important sites for a Vayan Catholic to go to."

"My father had wanted to take my brother there, especially since Erik is the only Vayan Catholic among us Rainard Children."

"I see," she replied. "Yes, it's a nice place." She moved her neck back and forth to crack it a bit.

"Yeah. Erik and Cecilia are the only ones who aren't Celiam Methodists. Only me, Natalka, Anna, and Taisyia are Celiam Methodists. Still, Celiam Methodists like to make a pilgrimage to Odul as the city is still holy to us."

"I know." She continued to stretch. "Vekaiyu is a better place these days."

"That's good, and I think it's because of you. You have many great and excellent ideas to help Vekaiyu grow and prosper. However, there will be those who don't appreciate what you're doing; but, I think many people will stand beside you and assist you in what you're doing. I'm one of those who will help you." "Why did I say that," he thought.

"Well I appreciate the offer," Ikrisia thought, returning to business. "There are probably ways to help Vekaiyu maintain its transition. Everyone knows a stable and sane Vekaiyu is key to peace in the region. The whole Vekaiyu-Listonia area is very important to keep at peace. Listonia is becomming especially volatile these days."

"So, I've heard. Many of my advisors have suggested that it's because of the corruption in the government by criminal organizations, not just local ones, but also foreign ones as well. Also, the problems from Listonia's neighbors are also of concern. I'm seeing what I can do via diplomacy with one of the neighboring countries. Let's just say it's slow."

"Neighboring countries?"

"Rykkovaa to be specific. I attempted to talk to both Dveria and Elephana, but Dveria ignored my messages, and Elephana, well, let's just say that their leaders have threatened to turn me into a rug if I tried contacting them again. Rykkovaa, on the other hand, I've had some success with in getting them to back off. Tensions are still tight along the border, but it's better than the skirmishes going on before."

Ikrisia arched an eyebrow. "They were threatening to move over the Listonian border last I checked."

"Damn. I thought I got through to them. I might have to use my trump card then: either go straight to Listonia and hoped that my prescence scares them off. Attacking another nation while a the leader of a third nation is visiting would be a diplomatic blunder and caused international pressure to fall on Rykkovaa."

"Or I could simply just drop into Rykkovaa, unannounced, and try to reason with their leaders."

"Of course, that might make the situation worse."

"It would, I believe. They claimed a Listonian murdered one of their own. Even if that's the case, it's no grounds to attack a nation. But my concern is that apparently Listonia cannot protect itself, but its land is too valuable to us to allow nations to simply run them over. We're thinking of absorbing the state in the hopes that a strong Vekaiyun nation would deter many attacks."

"That's probably the best choice. And you're right, it isn't grounds for war, although the victim was actually one of their leaders, according to what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Relations has told me. And apparently, they also found weapons and equipment, such as high explosives, stored in a Vayan Catholic Church's basement. Something doesn't add up, but I can't simply say that in public, because if it turns out that I'm wrong, then I just made a fool of myself and the world will think of me as being dishonest. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Relations is trying to see if they can get me a visit scheduled to travel to Rykkovaa, where I could reason with them. But I hope you do get things worked out."

"I don't see how someone could believe them. Listonia can barely protect itself - it has no business invading another country, especially since it would anger many nations in the region should they try to attack unprovoked. If Listonia attacked a nation, Dveria would declare war on it, followed by Sevropia, Elephana, Rykkovaa, and probably more nations. It's a powder keg and they hold the fuse." She scoffed. "Unless they wanted to start a war they couldn't win, picking fights with other nations just doesn't make sense."

Sam nodded. "Yeah, that's true. Still, if there's anything I can do to help, don't hestiant to ask."

"Naturally. Any scenario will be difficult. But something will need to be done."

Sam nodded. "Well, how is the plan to absorb Listonia coming along?"

"The Kivreskov is currently voting on it. Once they hash it out and I approve of it, we will take the necesary measures."

Sam smiled. "I hope it works out." Sam then remembered something. "I was wondering if you could help me with something."

Ikrisia looked up. "What do you need help with?"

"Well, you see tomorrow is my brother's birthday and I was wondering if we could have a party for him here. If that's okay with you. I know it's sudden, but I would be most thankful if you did help me with this."

Ikrisia paused. "I am sure we can accomodate," she replied.

"Thank you. He would probably want a traditional Vekaiyun birthday party. He likes carrot cake now."

"Okay, that's fine."

Sam nodded. "I may need to get ahold of that manufacturer of your Olympic swimmers' sportswear. I must admit that your swimsuit is quite impressive, although, I think it was your skill that's the most impressive." Sam thought for a moment. "So tell me, what do you think about being leader of Vekaiyu?"

"I don't mind it. As long as Vekaiyu improves, then I must be doing something right." She walked over to the locker room. "I should probably get out of this thing if you don't mind."

"Alright. You go first and I'll change out of this after you get out."

"Very well." She walked into the locker room and closed the door.

Sam smiled as he wagged his tail. "Ikrisia Levinile...She is quite interesting. Never thought a vixen like her would catch my attention."

Sam whistled, as he waited for Ikrisia to get out of the locker room so he could change. It wouldn't be polite, of course, to drip water all of the palace's floors. Sam looked around the room while he waited. "Sort of reminds me of the Confederate Palace's swimming pool room back home," he thought as his mind thought about what to do today. He had a pretty good idea on what to get his little brother for his birthday. He had asked Coline to keep Erik busy until they could get the party and presents ready. Of course, with Ikrisia helping, they might be able to pull it off.

Cecilia was almost finished getting dressed, when she decided to do something nice for Stu. She texted Stu, sending him a message asking him if she could get him a souvenir from Vekaiyu.

<<Stu. It's me Cecilia. I'm going to get you something from Vekaiyu to give to you when you visit Vulshain.>>

<<Also :<3:  >>

She smiled.

OOC: Yes, her phone can send smilies.

Stu's cell phone vibrated on the desk next to his desk phone. He typed in the pass code to unlock it, and opened his messages. Reading Cecilia's message, he smiled.

Coline and Erik had gone out for some sightseeing and a nice lunch together. Both of them held hands while wagging their tails. "I had a lovely day," Coline.

Erik smiled. "I should be the one who should be thanking you. It was a wonderful day, especially since it's my birthday."

"So, how do you like being 18?"

"Doesn't feel that much different when I turned 17. Maybe I'm like some sort of comic book superhero who's immune to aging."

"Yeah, but you do know what they say about immortality right," Coline asked.

"Oh? What's that?"

"Immortality is a curse, not a blessing. You know how the stories go: you stay alive while those around you die, until you're all alone with no friends or loved ones to be with you."

"Yeah, but I'm not alone anymore." He looked at Coline turning her to face him. "I have my brother and sisters...and I have you." He kissed her. She kissed back as they embraced each other.

"Happy birthday, Erik," she said after breaking the kiss.

"Thanks."

"Come on. I think we should eat dinner," she said, leading the way to the dining hall.

"Huh?"

As they entered the dining hall, Erik realized that no one had greeted them upon their return. He was beginning to wonder what was going on here when Coline opened the dining hall doors, that he received his answer.

"SURPRISE! Happy birthday, Erik!" Erik was taken back by the fact that his own brother had somehow convinced the Premier of Vekaiyu to host a surprise birthday party in Verveni Hall. He was also surprised to see that Ikrisia was there celebrating with them as well. He was even more surprised to see his grandmother here as well. "Grandmother, what are you doing here?"

"Now, Erik, do you really think that I would miss one of my grandchildren's birthdays. I've missed too many already, and I'm not about to miss anymore before the Den Mother calls me to her side." She kissed her grandson on the forehead. "Besides, I can't stay long, as I'll have to leave in the morning to head back to Vulshain. Political stuff."

Erik saw that the decorations were minimal, and weren't too flashy. He also saw that the cake was a carrot cake without a lot of icing, except for the icing that spelled his name. An '18' candle had just been lit by Sam. As everyone sang happy birthday to him, he made his wish. "Please, Almighty. Please let us find Anna." He blew out the candles, which resulted in applause and cheers. He then began opening presents.

Several of his gifts were a new surfboard, some of the latest Vekaiyun video games, a couple of books, some clothes, and a couple of music CDs.

Ikrisia watched relatively silently, holding back and observing the behavior of the group. She was sketchy on the meaning of 'den mother', but opted not to ask. Instead she enjoyed a small slice of cake and hoped the Vekaiyun tradition of non-sweet desserts was sufficient for their liking.

"This is my gift to you," Ikrisia said after they were nearly done distributing gifts. She presented him an carved wooden mask in the shape of a vulpine's head. The features on it were grotesque, and the eyes disproportionately large compared to the rest of the facade. "It's a replica of an 11th century war mask from the province of Eldura. These were very common during the middle ages and well into the seventeenth century, but they fell out of favor when guns were much more commonplace. They were designed to strike fear into their opponents and protect the face. This replica is more for art than functionality, though."

Erik smiled as he looked at Ikrisia's gift. "I like it. Thank you. This means a lot to me. To have something connected to the history of my father's nation...I don't know how to thank you."

Erik rubbed his eyes. Coline came over. "Erik, you okay? Are you...crying?"

"No! Of course not. Just...something in my eyes...causing me to shed tears that's all. Just something in my eyes..." Coline smiled and shook her head, before kissing her boyfriend on the cheek.

"It's alright, sweety..."

Erik had finished rubbing his eyes before smiling kissing his girlfriend on the cheek in return. He then smiled at Ikrisia and then did a slight bow to her. "Premier Levinile. Thank you for letting my family have this party. I appreciate it very much. Thank you." He then went back looking at the mask she had given him.

Anatansya Olekalexein walked over and stood next to Ikrisia. "You made my grandson very happy, Premier. Thank you." She then asked, "Tell me something: why did you choose a replica of an ancient mask for his present? I'm curious to know why."

Ikrisia watched the whole ordeal. Upon being asked why she presented the gift she did, she shrugged. "I don't know what he likes. I simply figured he'd want something unique and related to some historical significance."

The Queen Dowager nodded. "Good choice. It's exactly what he wants: something that tells about the history of his father's homeland. And you have given him that: thank you."

Ikrisia nodded. "I'm more than happy to oblige," she replied. "They seem to be an emotive bunch," she thought to herself as she continued watching the situation in front of her. "Interesting."

Stu placed the two individually wrapped the personalized Kozhushankas and two cards for Cecilia and Natalka's birthday into a box, ready to be shipped to Vulshain. He handed the box to the postal worker waiting for him.

"Be sure this gets there today. Not a day later." He said as he handed it off.

"Of course. We'll fly it out as soon as we can."

The postman walked out to his truck and left for the post office.

"I can't believe that we just had our birthdays here in Vekaiyu," Cecilia said.

"I know. I wonder how Sam convinced Ikrisia to host another birthday party."

"Beats me." Cecilia did wonder how he had done it. She was glad that Grandma Anatansya had decided to stay though.

"It feels good to finally be able to celebrate our birthdays together," Natalka said.

"Yeah it sure does. A lot has changed for sure. I'm glad that we're together again." Both sisters smiled as they read some books that they had gotten.

A CPG came in. "Premier Rainard and Marshal Rainard?"

"Yes," both sisters said.

"A package arrived at our embassy here. It's from Southern Yugoslavia. It was sent to Vulshain first, but the Chief Prime Minister thought it was very important so he had it sent here immediately."

Cecilia and Natalka both opened the box. Inside were two Kozhushankas and two cards. Both sisters read the cards. Cecilia smiled while her sister looked at the Kozhushanka. "Nice. I like it. Looks like your boyfriend remembered to give us both gifts."

"Um....WHAT!?"

"Geez, no need to shout. It's alright. I'm just glad you finally found someone that makes you happy."

"Well, um thanks." Cecilia and Natalka tried them on. "Wow, Stu has excellent taste," Cecilia thought.

"Um...Can I go now?"

Both Cecilia and Natalka looked at the confused CPG and told him he could go.

Both sisters loved their Kozhushankas, but Cecilia loved the thought that Stu had sent her and her sister birthday presents.

Meanwhile...

Anatansya Olekalexein found Ikrisia. "Ah, Premier Levinile, I was looking for you. I was wondering if you could come with me for a moment. I have a gift for you."

"A gift?" Ikrisia asked. "What for? You really don't have to get me anything." She smiled politely.

Anatansya Olekalexein smiled. "Nonsense. It is common courtesy to give gifts to foreign leaders. It is a tradition dating back to before Vulshain was united when the leaders of different provinces would give gifts as symbols of peace. Now, follow me please. Your gift is in my room." Anatansya walked towards her room with Ikrisia following behind her. "Here we are. What do you think?"

Before them hung a silk and cotton bluish-black kimsari, an outfit that was a cross between a kimono and a sari. It had a phoenix and butterfly pattern and also had long flowing sleeves. It almost resembled the Queen Dowager's red and gold kimsari, but it was sized for someone like Ikrisia. In addition, the Queen Dowager's had a butterfly and rose pattern. "There are two types of kimsaris: one that covers the shoulders and the other leaves the shoulders bare. The second one is what I'm wearing as well as the one that I'm giving you. The kimsari is a traditional outfit worn by women for many years, that is until Merrill Rivers came along and tried to strip Vulshain of our heritage and culture."

Ikrisia smiled. "Oh my, it's beautiful. Thank you!" She gently grabbed the garment. "I will be certain to wear it when I visit Vulshain."

Anatansya Olekalexein smiled. Seeing Ikrisia's reaction to the kimsari reminded her of when she got her first kimsari. "I'm glad you like it. Would you like to try it on right now?"
