Laiatan has maintained roughly 8,000 troops in the country since the end of the 2014 Dverian War for training the newly formed North Dverian Defense Forces (NDDF). Laiatan handed responsibility for providing security to the North Dverians in 2016, who overall have managed to succeed in securing their Republic. As the largest Federation Day Parade in the country, tens of thousands are expected to attend. The parade will include several veterans organizations, local politicians, marching bands, in addition to the Laiatanese Army military band. Anatoly Kamenev, member of the House of Kamenev, files for candidacy in upcoming People's Council elections Kosma, Trakovaski Oblast In an unprecedented move, Anatoly Kamenev, a member of the dynasty that once ruled Laiatan for over 600 years has filed for candidacy to represent the Kosma District in the 2018 People's Council election. The Kamenevs first took control of the Mahigan Kingdom, the predecessor state to the Empire, in 1366 and maintained and expanded the state into the Laiatanese Empire, ruling until the monarchy was dismantled following the collapse of the junta and Republic Referendum of 1887. Since the removal the Kamenevs have refused to take part in Laiatanese politics and in early years, called for the dismantling of the federal system and return to the system in place before the 1880 coup. Since the 1930s, the Kamenevs have quieted down in their protests - though they kept themselves out of politics. They returned to the public eye in late 1960s with the formation of the Monarchist Union Party, which advocates for the return of the monarchy. Anatoly Kamenev, a great nephew of the last Emperor, has filed as a member of the Monarchists, marking a change in how the living members of the former ruling dynasty interact with the federal government. |
