“Good evening, everyone. I am Kivia Ikrisia Levinile, former Kral Commodore of Vekaiyu. I come to you not as a decisive military instigator, nor as a hard-lined placeholder, not even as a vulpine female, but as a Vekaiyun. It is my duty to inform you, the populace of our nation, and the world around it, that Kivia Selvala McEva has been removed from Premiere of Vekaiyu after the attempted assassination on Kivo Stapen Evesuni, Premiere of Listonia. Investigations will be performed in order to better understand the extent of her crimes, but her elimination and abdication has left a void in our leadership. It is therefore with clear conscience and sound mind that in the tradition of modern Vekaiyun succession I resign myself to Premiere of Vekaiyu.”

The young vixen blinked her eyes as she shifted her weight onto the opposite leg, already a bit tired of standing. Her light fur was a sharp contrast to the red flag of Vekaiyu to her top-left, but her uniform, now stripped of a titular identification, matched the crimson hue perfectly. She stood in front of a single-manned camera defiantly, knowing well in advance that such a broadcast was televised on V3 but, undoubtedly, had leaked to all other Vekaiyun news sources. “With this ascension, I must clarify my beliefs as to the role of the Premiere. My position is merely place-holder; that is, a transition from Maxism to monarchical market socialism, Vuyelism, popularized by royalty of the past, but with a few important changes. Yes, Selvala was a Maxist. This Maxist philosophy dies with the termination of her reign, and with that, so does the decades of hate, intolerance, and pride. In time, our royal family will return.”

“We as a people have been enslaved. Greed and pride have goose-stepped into the realms of intolerance, regressed us into the child-like fascinations of self-superiority. Our intelligence has made us cunning, our discoveries have been used to barricade us around the comforts of vile weaponry. That is not who we are, nor who we need to be. We have listened to lies for a long time now, and many of us have believed them. But the moment we refuse to listen to those lies is the moment we open our eyes to a new world, the real world, one where Vekaiyu and her people live as one with the world, on equal standing with the world, as brothers and sisters to a common man and accepting one another, absent of intolerance and of hate. Our ideal is a new Vekaiyu, one that is open to the world, for the earth is rich and can provide for all – vulpine, human, lesser races - all alike.”

She paused as her speech moved from preconceived to impromptu. “Even now, my voice is reaching millions of people across our nation, spilling into the boundless beyond of nations abroad. Millions of suffering people, people enslaved by a system where their leaders promised peace and happiness only to be fed a consistent dose of greed and hatred. Such leaders freed themselves, but enslaved their people – no one is safe from their forked tongues! Their policies prove shallow, and it is often too late. Now, people of Vekaiyu, I am here to tell you that it is not too late for us. Together we can remove the yoke of intolerance! We can fight for our world, a new world, a decent world in which all are treated as equals, one where all may benefit and live freely for a bright future. Soulless demons have clawed their way to the top with such promises, but they lie – their minds are as sick as the people they oppress! The never will fulfill such promises! Never! It is our time now, our time as Vekaiyuns to choose, to live without fear! Now let us fight to fulfill such promises! United and strong, we will not bend to the greed and hatred of the past. From the hands of all, a new Vekaiyun state will be forged! We have the power to shed the old and crumbling ideals of the intolerant Maxist regimes and construct our own path! Let us build it together! Let us fight for this world – our world, the world of the people! To all the brothers and sisters loyal to Vekaiyu, loyal to progress, tolerance, bravery, and peace, let us unite!”

The camera flicked off upon Ikrisia’s cue: a simple nod in conjunction with holding her hand next to her face in an open-palm fashion. The new Vekaiyun Premiere breathed a sigh of relief. While she hadn’t given it much thought, the initial expectations of sirens immediately signaling and bombs exploding all around the capital subsided. ”Not yet. Definitely tomorrow.” She was aware of the sensationalism in her speech, but to her, the nation would need such an initial push. Later she would have to crack down and crush any type of opposition she could, but to do so right now would almost imply to them that there had to be conflict. Not yet.

She looked up at her secretary, Selvala’s former secretary, who stood next to her awaiting any orders. “Convene a meeting of Vekaiyu’s major generals for tomorrow evening, sans those on the front lines in the Levenasi. Provide me background on all. Inform Lur General Yamano Nevikalu to arrive early and meet me in my office. As of this moment, Selvala’s chosen cabinet is disbanded. Round them up and lock them in the Sanakun. I have something special planned for them. And…” she gripped Ankya’s arm, preventing her from leaving. “You have a choice. If you serve me well, you will keep your job and be treated well, better than how Selvala treated you. I will ensure the safety of you and your family. Should you betray me, I will de-limb you and give you a front-row seat to the eradication of your family.”

“You don’t need to tell me twice. I hated her.”

She let go of her arm, but maintained eye contact. “Choose wisely. Now go.”

Having arrived some days ago from her visit to Lazlowia, Eszter Melisa Cantu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Relations, was watching the entire event. Along with her was the Minister of Defence Frankyo Getenya as he chewed some liquorice.

"Well, this is quite a situation," she said. "Especially, with the king planning to visit Vekaiyu after his trip to Southern Yugoslavia."

Nodding in agreement, Frankyo replied, "I guess we'll have to contact her." As she turned back to the news, Frankyo headed back to his office. As he sat down in front of his computer, he began to type and send a message to Ikrisia.

Quote:

Dear Premier Ikrisia Levinile of the Holy Republic of Vekaiyu,

I wish to congratulate you on your ascension to Premier of Vekaiyu, although I wish it was under better circumstances.  I am contacting you to let you know that the people of Vulshain shall stand beside our southern brothers and sisters during this time.  I have already placed our Armed Forces, and several ships, led by the aircraft carrier, the VCS Golden Heart on standby in case of a civil war breaks out in your country.  Vulshain does not want Vekaiyu to suffer the same fate we did seven years during our own Civil War seven years ago.

I pray that the Almighty and St. Aiya watches over us and blesses both our nations during this time.  I hope for the best.  If the worse comes about, may God help us all.

Sincerely,

Frankyo Getenya, Confederate Minister of Defense of the Confederacy of Vulshain

PS: Please refrain from using the word 'Vulshite' in the future.  While technically correct, Vulshite carries many autocratic and imperialistic symbolisims in it.  Many members of the Confederate Administration and Royal Congress were upset when you called our king a 'Vulshite'.  May St. Aiya watch over you.

Sighing after he sent the message, he chewed on another piece of liquorice as he thought, "Let's hope she doesn't use Vulshite again, or we'll all be in some serious crap."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Eszter also decided to send her own message as well.

Quote:

Dear Premier Ikrisia Levinile of the Holy Republic of Vekaiyu,

I wish to congratulate you on your becoming the new leader of your country.  I want you to know that the people of Vulshain will be there to support you through this time of need.  Should you need anything, do not be afraid to contact me.  I look forward to the great things you will do for your Vekaiyu.

Sincerely,

Eszter Melisa Cantu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Relations for the Confederacy of Vulshain

-----------------------------------------------------------

Director Gilbert Jerold Ewing was also watching the press conference as well. He too also decided to send a message to Premier Levinile.

Quote:

Dear Premier Ikrisia Levinile of the Holy Republic of Vekaiyu,

I wish to congratulate you on your promotion to Premier.  However, I have grave news.

As head of Vulshain's Department of Internal and External Intelligence and Security (DIEIS), it is my responsibility to ensure the safety of not only Vulshain's people but also the people of our friends and allies.  I am contacting you as I have been speaking with the government of Bai Lung.  The Bai Lung government discovered evidence that showed that the Kashgar insurgents helped support the insurgent and terrorist groups that ravaged the Confederate Providence of Ibius, as well as helped to fund the attempt on King Samuil Rainard's life a few days ago.

The Bai Lung government has reason to believe that the Kashgar Liberation Front (KLF) may have agents wandering around even as we speak, and that the KLF has an extensive network connecting them with other terrorist and insurgent organizations around the world, including those in your country as well.  DIEIS believes that several insurgent groups that escaped from Vulshain after our Armed Forces defeated them in Ibius may have fled to your nation, the Republican Armed Liberation Army (RALA) and the Revolutionary Republican Armed Movement (RRAM).  Both groups are very dangerous and may cause problems in your nation.

Any information on the KLF can be gained from President Richard Im, the leader of Bai Lung.

Please be careful.  DIEIS will report any further information as soon as it become available.

I hope all turns out well for you and your country.

Sincerely,

Gilbert Jerold Ewing, Director of the Department of Internal and External Intelligence and Security for the Confederacy of Vulshain

Ikrisia opened up her laptop after turning off the television, waiting for any developments, but outside of mixed reviews from different analysts, there wasn't much to report. All quiet on the western front, for the time being.

Quote:

Frankyo Getenya, Confederate Minister of Defense of the Confederacy of Vulshain,

Thank you for your kind words. While I appreciate the concern and the appreciation for how dire the situation could develop into, I must caution against the use of military force at this time. If I require extra help, I will be certain to ask for it.

Furthermore, I shall remember to refer to your people in the correct manner. Such lingo was adopted by the previous regime, and will have to be filtered out.

Regards,
Ikrisia Levinile
Premiere of Vekaiyu

Full of vigor, she moved over to the next unanswered mail, and wrote a quick response to it.

Quote:

Eszter Melisa Cantu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Relations for the Confederacy of Vulshain,

Thank you for your support and willingness to offer assistance. Time will tell whether or not my talents prove worthy for such a task, but we as a nation will pull through.

Regards,
Ikrisia Levinile
Premiere of Vekaiyu

She quickly moved over the next unanswered mail, wanting to keep her streak of successful replies intact.

Quote:

Gilbert Jerold Ewing, Director of the Department of Internal and External Intelligence and Security for the Confederacy of Vulshain,

Thank you for the warning. I will remain watchful of such groups and will not hesitate to take action when necessary. Please provide me any details you have regarding identifying characteristics these groups have so we may neutralize them accordingly and without problems.

Regards,
Ikrisia Levinile
Premiere of Vekaiyu

Her final email in the string was not a reply, but a fresh string, directed to a president she hadn't spoken to, but had his email in her contacts. She probably saved it when Selvala forwarded her emails from time to time.

Quote:

President Richard Im of Bai Lung,

Please provide me with any details regarding this Kashgar Liberation Front group. It has come to my attention that they have caused a recent disturbance in your nation, namely, the attempted assassination of a world leader. I would therefore like to be informed about this group and any further information you believe would be helpful. Thank you.

Regards,

Dear Premiere Ikrisia Levinile,

The Kashgar Liberation Front is a terrorist organisation known for their suicide bombing attacks and hostage taking on innocent civilians. The leader of the KLF is Bashir Farabhazi, the eldest son of former Kashgar spiritual leader Tentsin Farabhazi.

The KLF's agenda is primarily consists of Kashgar Nationalism and anti-Monarchy, the former due to claims of illegal occupation from my people and the latter because of the assassination attempt on King Samuil of Vulshain. They use these techniques because they feel their land has been stolen but I personally dispute this claim.

All of the major terrorist plots might be located in the city of Uzbari, and it is widely believed that Mr Farabhazi is hiding. Right now, I have issued an executive order to commence Operation Mainland Freedom which is basically wiping out the people responsible for the recent spate of attacks that crippled my people. It is very likely that Mr Farabhazi will not survive the blasts but our aim is simply to end this war of terror. So far, over 1,900 Kashgar fighters have been killed.

Yours Sincerely,

Richard Im
President of Bai Lung

OOC (again): At the time of posting, this is the 6th day (started in 31st August) of a long bombing campaign.

Fires engulf the Sekavi Trust Building
Mass-Rioting in Iruk
Reporting from the V3 Network in Vekaiyu, Ankya Ilusi

IRUK - Vekaiyu's third-largest city has quickly erupted into a deadly zone of conflict.

At around 7:30 am, three separate explosions rocked the city. Authorities have identified the source of the explosions as homemade bombs through determination of the residue left behind. The first bomb hit a Laundromat, killing 12 and injuring 17 more. Remnants of C4 explosives were found, leading officials to believe the outcome could have been much worse, especially considering the explosion occurred blocks away from a former chemical weapons stockpile.

Five minutes later, a much more powerful explosion rocked the Sekavi Trust building, killing 73 and injuring 120. This explosive was placed in an elevator shaft 4 with the possible intent of bringing the building down. Fires within it were put out roughly two hours later. The building still stands, though it has remained evacuated for precautionary purposes.

At 7:47 am, a third explosion hit Egelvi Field at the corner of Vekero and Niylu. Twelve were killed, and dozens injured. The baseball game vs. Caviru, scheduled for tonight, has already been canceled.

A fourth explosion was prevented, but details have not been made clear at this time.

Despite a hellish morning, rampage in Iruk continued as tens of thousands took to the streets, demanding the removal of recently-empowered Vekaiyun Premiere Ikrisia Levinile. When police descended on the group, the rioters split up and began to take their anger out on the various surrounding businesses.

It is unclear as to how many others have died as a result of the morning riots, but with the crowds still going strong into the afternoon, it is believed the situation will get worse before it gets better.

Ikrisia Levinile is believed to be on the verge of declaring Iruk under martial law. When asked of the situation developing in the metropolis, she is quoted with saying, "We must be quick to ensure the safety of the people. The conflict is very disheartening, and we will work diligently to diffuse the danger."

Stay tuned to V3 News for further update.

"Lur General Yamano Nevikalu has arrived."

Ikrisia nodded, switching her television to mute. The room in which she chose to make her office was smaller than Selvala's, but still spacious to allow for a small audience should she need it. It was plain and looked fairly empty, especially since she hadn't even had the time to move most of her personal objects, save for her laptop and a few desk essentials.

Ikrisia stood from her chair as the middle-aged man entered. Her eyes scanned over him, from his fairly short brown hair, to his five o'clock shadow, down to his uniform, which, for all intents and purposes, looked quite odd on a human. The gold and black outfit was befitting to a Lur General, however. Not bad for a Vekaiyun military man.

"Please, take a seat," Ikrisia said as she gestured to a chair in front of her desk. She watched as he sat down, slightly slouched, and definitely not trying to act overly-mannerly.

"So tell me," she began, "What did you think of last night's speech?"

He shifted in his seat. "Well, it was definitely better than any speech I heard from a Vekaiyun leader in years."

His accent was definitely unpolished, but nevertheless, he spoke Unonian well. "But do you believe it?"

"Course I do ma'am," he answered.

"Did you really believe it, though?" She paused. "You can be honest. What do you think of having a leader that is 24 years old and admittedly was handed the role of Kral Commodore a little less than a year ago?"

"I think you're way in over your head. If you survive for one year, I'll be surprised. If this nation hasn't torn itself to pieces in one year, I'll be even more surprised." He reclined in his chair.

"I need your help," she finally replied. "I need help removing Maxists. I need your help because I know no human in their right mind would fight on the side of the Maxists. Right?"

He leaned in. "You don't have to call me crazy, ma'am," her replied swiftly. "Maxists have held Vekaiyu for decades to kill, torture, oppress, and terrorize. And that's exactly what I wanna do to them."

"Can you trust me?"

"It looks like I don't have much of a choice here. Either way, yeah."

Ikrisia smiled. "That's good to hear, Yamano."

"Now if I'm gonna help you, you better be straight with me. I'm on your side cause I liked what you said and like your plans. You best keep that message strong, Kivia Levinile."

Ikrisia smiled. It felt good knowing that he wasn't going to bend over backwards for her. "You don't need to worry. But listen to me very carefully. Tonight we have a banquet featuring 48 of Vekaiyu's commodores and generals. I've spent most of the day doing background checks, making phone calls, checking records, etc, on all who are attending and have tried to arrange the seating to reflect such. I still need to make some final preparations, you know, making sure everything goes as planned."

"Now what should I do in the meantime, ma'am?"

"Just get comfortable." She looked over his shoulder as recent developments in the conflict ran across the screen. "I fear it'll be the last time we as a nation can do that for a while."

Premier Ikrisia Levinile of the Holy Republic of Vekaiyu,

I am contacting you again after hearing of the terrible riots in Iruk.  DIEIS was performing investigations into RALA and RRAM when the riots broke out.  We believe that RRAM was somehow involved, but we are not certain.  However, we have learned some important information.  One of RRAM's leaders, General Drew Brock Alvarado, is believed to be in your nation.  Proceed with caution.  Alvarado is infamous for his hatred of Vulpines, and has strong connections with the Vulshainian criminal organization, the Bossman Gang.  The RRAM may try to use their underworld contacts to place a hit on you.

I will contact you again immediately should DIEIS learn anything further.  Be careful.

Sincerely,

Gilbert Jerold Ewing, Director of the Department of Internal and External Intelligence and Security for the Confederacy of Vulshain

Frankyo typed like a madman as the events of the tragedy unfolded in Vekaiyu on the television.

Quote:

Dear Premier Ikrisia Levinile of the Holy Republic of Vekaiyu,

It would seemed that our fears have started to come real.  I know that my nation's troops cannot enter your country without your permission, but please I implore you to allow the brave men and women of Vulshain's Armed Forces to help you and your countrymen and countrywomen.  Please, in the holy name of the Almighty, let us help you.

Frankyo Getenya, Confederate Minister of Defense of the Confederacy of Vulshain

Frankyo sighed as he rubbed his forehead. He picked up a wedding picture of his wife and him together. "Ikarni can you ever forgive me," he said as a tear rolled down his muzzle.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Chief Prime Minister Adalberto Spencer had this to say about the atrocities in Vekaiyu as he appeared on VCNMN:

Quote:

"This sort of evil is appalling.  The people of Vulshain are outraged at such senseless bloodshed.  We grieve the loss of life of those who were taken by the minions of evil and death!  Vulshain shall be with Vekaiyu in its time of need!"

"Well, that is just great," Ambassador Christina Tolskin stated, throwing down the communique.

"Mam?" Moe Alin, the aid to the Ambassador, stood a few feet away, awaiting her instructions after delivering the letter.

"The President, Secretary of International Affairs, and Director of the Diplomatic Service are all preoccupied at the moment," the Ambassador stated, "with the unfolding Pax crisis. They've instructed me to congratulate the Kra---erm, Premier, and offer condolences and condemnation for the attack."

"They didn't have time to write a letter?" Alin asked.

"No, they had time," Tolskin replied, "they just didn't care. I understand that the situation is severe right now but it'd take ten minutes for someone to put together...ah, well. We'll have to do." She took a seat at her computer. "I'm going to email you something -- send it over to the Kra---erm, Premier, via diplomatic telegram, once you get it."

Quote:

Premier Levinile,

On behalf of the President of the Federated Alliance of Free Pacific States, I offer congratulations upon your recent ascension to the Premiership of the Holy Republic of Vekaiyu. President Kroidrik and I share an absolute optimism about the future of Vekaiyu with yourself as its leader.

I also offer, on behalf of the President and myself, the greatest condolences for those killed in the attacks today. There is no excuse for violence against civilians nor is violence without any attempt towards diplomatic solution at all acceptable. The Federated Alliance condemns these attacks, outright, and the President hopes that the culprits are brought to justice.

The next few weeks will surely be trying -- leading a nation is no easy task. I wish you the best of luck, on behalf of the President and myself.

Thank you,
Ambassador Christina Tolskin

Tolskin reviewed the email twice, ensuring it to be supportive yet mostly neutral, then sent it onto her assistant. Ten minutes later, the Embassy dispatched a courier with the telegram.

Kazakhbari, Bai Lung Dalu

A Kashgar man walks on his own, down the streets of the mostly Kashgar city of Kazakhbari. He leans against the wall in an empty alley waiting for his contact but he is taking his time and this unusually long delay is worrying the man. He finally arrives after being expected to arrive at the exact time.

Kashgar man: "What the hell is wrong with you? You are supposed to be here at 3!"

The contact: "Can't you see the weather, man! It's a heavy shower today, don't expect me to come here on the dot! The traffic was congested as you can see from here!"

Kashgar man: "I don't give a flying birds! You could have been here 10 minutes before we met! Now, where's the Som?"

The contact: "Here...take it and go..."

Before they could make a hasty departure, a group of 20 armed policemen surrounded the two men with armored vans blocking both pathways of the alley. Laser sights were saturating the two men's faces highlighted the police's serious intention to kill them both if either of them do anything stupid.

Policeman: "STOP! POLICE! Put that beige envelope down! Do it nice and slowly!"

The Kashgar man looked puzzled after being given the order to put down the envelope. The other guy pleaded for his life in Kashgari.

The contact: "Please, officer. I'm innocent, I did not kill anyone. I am not a fighter! I have no aspirations to be a resistance fighter! I'm only a middle man. I only follow orders from my bosses. Please don't kill me! My child will grow up without a father!"

Realising neither of the suspects speak any Mandarin, the policeman repeated the order in stilted and stiff Kashgari.

Policeman: "You....drop that envelope...on the ground....please...."

The contact just barely understood the heavily accented Kashgari and placed the envelope on the grey stone tiles of the alley. The policeman picked up the envelope and examined it swiftly. Inside the envelope was several 1,000 Som notes, a hand written note in Kashgari and a photograph of Premier Ikrisia Levinile. The policeman gave a very suspicious look at the two men when he realised something very seedy is going on.

Policeman: "Take these two men to the police station! I have some questions for them to answer..."

Policeman 2: "Yes sir!"

The two men were hastily ushered into the police van and taken to the local police station.

The doors to the large dining room opened, revealing breathtaking architecture which included a domed ceiling complete with jaku wood arches, holding the painted ceiling in place. Paintings adorned the walls as well, depicting a romanticized Vekaiyun forested landscape, a sharp contrast to the ceiling, which displayed something more likened to a Vayan Catholic scene, with various angels, heroes, and saints ascending higher and higher. The pièce de résistance was without a doubt the large round dining table, also made of jaku wood, carved and beautiful. Golden colored tablecloth adorned the large furniture, a sharp contrast to the red, white, black, and gold uniforms worn by those sitting at the table.

“The Vekaiyun Premiere, Ikrisia Levinile.”

Everyone stood to attention, something that Ikrisia was still getting used to. It was almost discomforting, but the intent was more or less out of tradition and respect. She walked to her seat, picking up her name card to make sure she was in the right location. “Thank you all for coming,” she replied, looking around the table and noticing all of the seats were filled. Apparently many of the guests took her invitation seriously. “My plan was to have dinner first, and then talk once the meal was over. Sometimes a good meal can make for more pleasant conversation.” She smiled as she picked up her glass of wine. “But first, I’d like to call for a toast.” Raising her glass, she waited until everyone else did the same, some with enthusiasm, others disgruntled and noticeably irked. “To a new Vekaiyu, strong and united under the bastions of hope, progress, peace, tolerance, and courage. To change!”

Everyone drank accordingly, then sat down. Small chatter commenced, though it dulled slightly with the arrival of the meals. Background music could be heard over the speakers as the group ate, spending minute after minute eating and randomly socializing. But it was clear tension existed, especially from the seating arrangements, as those who apparently had little in common with one another were situated one next to the other.

Roughly fifteen minutes into the meal, Ikrisia tapped her fork on her glass to get everyone’s attention. “Sorry to interrupt you all. I figured since we’re starting to finish what’s on our plates, we could start talking about some of the changes I’ve proposed.” As soon as she mentioned ‘changes’ more chatter could be heard across the table. “One of the things I believe we need to do is show just how anti-Maxist we, as free Vekaiyuns, plan to be. What did Maxism stand for? Oppression, hatred, and intolerance. We must be the opposite of such things.” The chatter intensified, turning from scoffs and sighs to outright protest from some of the members at the table.

“Hey!” Yamano shouted as he set down his napkin. Most turned their attention to him. “Where I was raised, you didn’t have to like someone, but you gotta respect them. We best pay attention.” He turned to Ikrisia. “Continue, ma’am.”

A middle-aged vulpine male nodded. “I agree. Let’s hear her out.”

“Thank you, lur general, ikovu commodore. We need to take a hard stance against Maxists. They’ve spent decades killing so many innocent lives, terrorizing our people, and making us look like horrible, bloodthirsty animals across the realm. All those lives, killed or tortured, we cannot make up for. But we can start to try to make things well again.” More protests could be heard from the peanut gallery, even fist-pounding was apparent. Ikrisia tried to speak above them. At least most remained seated. “Let’s start with this table. It has come to my attention that roughly half of you have had some kind of past dealing with Maxists. I’m not talking about ideals, I’m talking about actual action, against the state, against our people.” Ikrisia paused as one of the protestors seemed to be taking it too far, practically slamming his whole body against the table, and distracting the attention of those around him. Within a few moments, others at the table seemed to be doing the same thing, screaming in pain and convulsing erratically.

“We’re at war with the Maxists; this has been confirmed by the tone of this meeting. I did background checks throughout most of the day and evening yesterday, and chose the list of invitees carefully. I don’t know how right I was, but this was probably the easiest way to do it. Those who were found to be blatant Maxist supporters have been removed. In short, we’re trimming the fat.”

One of the younger vulpine generals watched as the muscles to the person next to him tightened and flexed. “Strychnine poisoning?” he inquired.

Ikrisia nodded. “I found it was ironic – they tightened their grip on this nation for decades, and the poison, well, will have a terrible grip on them. For those who don’t know…” she paused as the screams, crashes, and convulsions increased the noise in the room. “For those who don’t know, strychnine basically blocks the muscles’ ability to switch off. So, they stay on.”

“I’m not even a Maxist, you bitch!”

“I guess that would fall into guilty by association then,” Ikrisia replied. “Didn’t claim to be perfect. Sorry. But if you’re going to approve of orders to kill civilians, hejul general, well, that’s just like killing them yourself, isn’t it?”

The commotion started to die down slightly as members at the table started to drop.

“Kill… me!”

Ikrisia turned to her left as the commodore next to her convulsed, his facial muscles stretched into a deep smile. She took out a gun next to her leg, aimed, and shot.

Those who were not harmed ranged from being distraught and understandably scared to calm and collected. As soon as the last few poisoned people dropped dead, all turned their attention to Ikrisia. Silence made the air thick with anxiousness.

“To those who have survived, congratulations. You have in one way or another gained my trust for the time being. For most of you, I’ve noticed you have remained in your positions for quite some time now, blocked by a Maxist, I presume, based on your performance and track records. I would know, Selvala would talk about those who caused friction. So, look to the empty seat to your left, grab the name card, cross out the name and write your own, but do not change the title. I hope you all enjoy your new promotions. I’m sorry you all had to witness that and bear through the odd seating arrangements, but I hope I made up for it.”

“Uh, ma’am?”

“Yes, sipavu commodore Nevikalu?”

“Next time, I suggest we do that before we’ve had our meals.”

Ikrisia nodded. She looked around the table at the mostly young to middle aged male and female vulpines and humans. It was hard to tell if she had met the desired effect for most of them. ”Like a cross between relieved, tense, and excited,” she thought. ”I hope they are effective.”

One of the newly-promoted generals, Iko Usavistre, breathed a sigh of relief as he twirled the name card in his hand. ”I need to find out what happened to Selvala and get the old regime back in. Shouldn’t be too hard. Keeping a low profile is apparently what I do best these days.”

Johnny Tayloronny waited in the press conference room as he stared at the Vulpine guard. "Listen, buddy, it's going to be a while, so why don't you just leave and come back later?"

Johnny smiled and shook his head. "Nope. I'm going to wait right here. This is just as big as having the Ghost Fox crowned the King of the Confederacy of Vulshain! I'm not going to pass this up!"

"Fine. Whatever," the guard groaned. He cursed under his breath in Unonian. Johnny began to jot down some questions to ask the new Vekaiyun Premier.

"Okay, little Miss Snowflake Vixen, prepare to meet the mud!"

"I trust that Soň and her public security staff have seen to fully briefing you on the situation which we've all gathered here to discuss." The aging lupine man who had spoken arched his fingers and gazed through his spectacles and over the bridge of his muzzle at his six comaptriots gathered around the semi-circular table. This was a ritual with which they were all familiar, though it was rarely in reponse to an event of the same magnitude as this evening's business. "But just in case, I will repeat today's events of importance briefly if something was lost in transit. It would appear, if the information Soň has given us is accurate, that not only is McEva out of power, but her successor as premier, one..." He adjusted his glasses before reading from a piece of paper before him. "One Ikrisia Levinile. More importantly, she is apparently avowedly anti-Maxist, which has generated some literally violent disagreement on the part of what is probably a sizable portion of her countrymen." Having concluded his impromptu summary, he settled back into his seat with a sigh. "Saj, since you're the only one here explicitly responsible for foreign policy, I believe it would be best if you weighed in on this matter first."

The middle aged woman sitting immediately to his left nodded by way of thanks and cleared her throat. The nearly completely black, gray and white coloration of her coat and blue eyes accurately identified her as Novajot's representative at the table. "Of course Ëno, I would be honored to begin. If the new premier is indeed sincere about her opposition to traditional Maxist elements, and the furor that she has so far engendered leads me to believe that she is, and assuming she manages to remain in power rather than being thrown out by a new, more radical government, then we should welcome this change. An un-Maxist government is far less likely to move against us or otherwise threaten our national security. I would suggest that the seven of us a whole send a standard message of congratulations as a courtesy and inform Premier Levinile that we recognize her as Vekaiyu's legitimate head of government." That she stopped speaking for more than a second was rightly take by Ëno as a sign that she had said what she wanted to, and he nodded to the next person around the table.

"Makt?"

"Thank you," replied Makt Ozmara of Kårytans. "As our minister for the development of trade and industry I must agree with Saj's assesment that this is a positive change. It is simply impossible to effectively grow our nation's economy with its native resources and talents alone, unfortunately. I do not think we should make any serious commitments yet which bank on this turning out for the better, but a non-Maxist government would be a more trustworthy trading partner if need be." The next man in line, a Jåvis Obraska from Iivrejet, spoke when Makt had finished without waiting for a cue from the discussion's de facto chair.

"Makt has summarized my feelings nicely. My responsibilities administering infrastructure are naturally closely tied to what resources we can obtain."

"Well, if we're being allowed to speak freely, then I feel obliged to cut all this unfounded optimism short." Ëno turned his head towards the speaker, but did not stop her. It was Soň Demit from Jandrak. She was the youngest and most passionate of the group, having been elected as baan a mere six years previous. She also seemed to be perpetually scowling about something. She certainly was now, obviously displeased with what her compatriots had just said. "That Levinile has publicly denounced Maxism does not mean that Vekaiyu should be regarded as a friend. The nation's fundamental properties will remain unchanged, as they always have through the course of centuries. They are by their nature an aggressive and untrustworthy people with designs on restoring the lost glory of their former empires. By tying ourselves to them in any way, even economically, we'd be giving them just another lever which they can use to undermine our interests and security. It would fundamentally go against the basis of our entire nation."

"Are you proposing then that we do nothing?" asked Ëno.

"Of course not," Soň snapped back with thinly veiled aggression. "This transition has momentarily weakened Vekaiyu. While they are preoccupied with their self-made internal problems, we have an excellent opportunity to eliminate some of the levers they already hold and bolster our security and stmy any future moves on their part. Of course," she eyed a Makt who looked like he had been about to speak up as she began the sentence. "We can not move against Vekaiyu directly, since we don't share a border with them, but we do border their puppet Listonia, and yes" she prematurely cut off another interruption, this time from Saj, with a nasty glare, "despite what some sources may publically claim, for the purposes of our security it would be dangerous to view Vekaiyu and Listonia as truly separate factions." She received a collection of incredulous looks from the four previous speakers.

"You're not honestly suggesting we begin an open war without provocation?" Asked a bewildered Saj. "It would absolutely ruin our international credibility and leave us diplomatically vulnerable!"

"No, again, tying ourselves to the whims of other nations is what makes us vulnerable since it removes control from our hands into what is essentially blind luck," retorted Soň immediately. "If we are to truly be an independent nation we can't allow other species to dictate our fates. And if we wait to be provoked, it'll be too late. Vekaiyu will have recovered and together with Listonia they'll easily outpower us."

"But you're assuming they'll attack us, there isn't any evidence that..."

"Saj, if I may intervene." The sixth member now spoke for the first time. As the man in charge of all things military, it was no surprise that Sevexke's Vosk Uňot was entering the discussion on Soň's behalf. "Her fear is entirely founded. The restoration of Listonia, despite the human population, was primarily vulpine movement and their connections with Vekaiyu can not be overlooked. A reunion between these separate siblings is a very really possibility, and after that a complete restoration of Vekaiyu's former glory would necessarily invole retaking the other territories which once composed it. I'm certain you all know that includes me and Soň's homelands, and Pask's Rajjot. They would have the military capability to undertake such a mission and I see no reason why they would respect territory of what they take to be an inferior species." He turned to look at the diminutive, by lupine standards at least, man sitting seventh in line. He didn't say anything. Saj used the pause to speak again.

"And why would they want to restore their empire?"

"Because it's in their nature, I've already told you this." It was Soň speaking again. "Even if they don't call it Maxism, they won't just change overnight. Did any of you actually listen to her speech? She said, and I quote, 'vulpines, humans and lesser species'. Since none of us are either of the first two, it necessarily follows that we are among the 'lesser species' she mentions."

"You're reading far too much into it, and even if we did want to go to war what about their nuclear and chemical weapons..."

"They wouldn't dare use them out of fear of retaliation, not to mention that's exactly the sort of thing we need to get rid of..."

"But if they know they've lost, what will they have to lose..."

"Enough." Ëno didn't shout or even raise his voice. He never did. Somehow he was able to command respect by his tone alone. The bickering parties immediately stopped talking. "Pask, would you like to contribute?" The sad looking man shook his head.

"No," he managed to say meekly.

"In that case, I endorse Saj's proposal. Who else does?" Three paws immediately shot up. "That settles it. Saj, please see to it that the new premier receives our congratulations as soon as possible."

We are in the process of asking these men on their motives and their wherabouts of Bashir Farabhazi. Once the NBLPF have made a conclusion with the interogation process, the two men can be extradited on your request.

After the meal, Ikrisia once again checked her laptop for any messages. She felt tethered to the device anymore, but as a world leader it was pretty much expected to be in close contact with other world leaders.

President Richard Im of Bai Lung,

Thank you for the information, it is much appreciated. Would you have a transcript of the letter available? I feel this would she more light on the current situation. However, I do trust your judgment, and I will act accordingly. You know the Kashgars and the turmoil they have caused in your nation, therefore, would it be best to try them in your nation? Either way, I do not think they would stand a chance here. I am interested in finding out how this develops. Please keep me updated.

"Milady, a telegram has been wired to you from the Free Pacific States embassy."

Ikrisia looked up and closed her laptop. A sharply-dressed vulpine male presented her the written telegram. "I waited until your dinner was over. In the future, would you like me to wait or present it to you at dinner and other functions?"

"If it is urgent, please inform me so I may be excused," she replied, taking the telegram. "Thank you." She read over it, then looked over it again. "So how does this work? I..."

"I know shorthand, milady. Give me a moment to take out my pad and paper, and I'll write it down."

Ikrisia looked at him. "No. Let me write it down and give me a copy of the transcript later." She opened a drawer and took out a sheet of paper, grabbing the pen from her desk.

Thank you kindly for your words and support. I appreciate the words of support both you and your president have given my nation and the unfortunate incidents occurring. Vekaiyu will indeed undergo some changes, and I do intend to follow through with them. Send President Kroidrik my warmest regards.

Fires and explosions continue into the evening in Iruk

Martial Law Declared in Iruk
Reporting from the V3 Network in Vekaiyu, Ankya Ilusi

IRUK - Vekaiyun Premiere Ikrisia Levinile has declared martial law for the province of Iruk.

In a statement issued by the premiere, "the conditions in Iruk have crumbled. We must keep the peace within our nation and prevent this senseless violence that has recently plagued us."

Police have been unable to quell the rioting in the city, which has moved into the 14th hour of conflict. The rioting has been confirmed to be caused by Maxists who have strongly disagreed with the new premiere and her policies. Various leaders among the crowds have voiced their anger over the current situation, calling for the reinstatement of Selvala McEva and complete removal of Levinile. Death tolls are estimated at around seven hundred, but that number is expected to rise with the increasing frequency of severe attacks.

This comes as the cities of Fek and Ves have both had confirmed reports of rioting. Riot police have been dispersed to both cities. Surrounding cities have also erupted in conflict.

V3 shall continue to update on any known developments.

Kunnat threatens Fragmentation

The Provincial Overseer of Kunnat has threatened to break away from the Vekaiyun State in a televised statement, while sources indicate the province of Lira has also joined in.

Appearing on the V33 Network during a debate on "Counterpoint", Ysero Nobelseristre has warned that his province "will not hesitate to breakaway from this new Vekaiyu. [Kunnat] was liberated under the Maxist Regime, and will always support it." The PO gave a warning to Premiere Levinile, giving her 24 hours to step down or consider Kunnat as a separate entity.

Levinile condemned the PO's actions, calling him "misguided" and stating he is "dissenting against the people of Vekaiyu."

Lira, a border province of Kunnat, is also believed to be on their side, as the province is the birthplace of Selvala McEva.

Press Conference Scheduled for Levinile
Vekaiyun Premiere Ikrisia Levinile has scheduled a press conference at 9:15 VST to address the varying conflicts springing up in the Vekaiyun State. She is expected to address the Kunnat sitation with more clarity as well.

V3 will be covering all developments as they come.

Eszter Melisa Cantu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Relations for the Confederacy of Vulshain, appeared on VCNMN after several provinces in Vekaiyu threatened to secede from that nation.

"I ask the Provinces of Vekaiyu to stay calm and work together. Your nation has seen too much bloodshed. Look at our nation. We were once controlled by a ruthless dictator named Merrill Rivers who was the equivalent of your Max Venavle. Do you want to have a leader like those two power-hungry tyrants again?

No, you don't. No one wants to have a madman as a leader. Soon, King Samuil Rainard of Vulshain will come to your nation of Vekaiyu. You may not know this, but he is a son of both Vulshian and Vekaiyu. He loves Vekaiyu just as he loves his native homeland of Vulshain. Do not break his heart by destroying your nation. We ask that all Vekaiyuns seek out the path of peace and cooperation."

Dear Premiere Ikrisia Levinile,

Thanks to the help of Kashgari language scholars, we have a faithful translation of the hand written letter. It seems you're worth 1 million Kashgar Som (about half a million BL Dollars) to these men. You may re-consider allowing the extradition of these two men. They have some really valuable info which may interest you.

Sergey:

For your next mission, this one is going to be real tricky. In fact, a hell lot trickier than that tricycle attack in Kyrgyzbari. I will enclose you a much increased advance [payment] 250,000 Som. Head to Eldura in Vekaiyu on 10th September to meet a guy named Dometry Medvov. He will be located 15 blocks east from the government building in Vevano Street. Tell him that a black car packed with 500lbs explosive will be waiting for him 20 blocks north from the government building, turning right into Losevaste Street. You won't miss it. Here's the photo of the subject I want Mr Medvov to crash into and to detonate the explosives. When the job is done, call me and you'll get the remaining 750,000 Som. Remember, the mission is very risky and security is extremely tight but Bisckeck willing, I want to tell a message to these fox people that we don't want any migration to this country from anywhere! We've had enough of the Oriental occupiers already! I want a message that we want no Kings or Queens, only Bischkek and his disciples. Anabar Bishu!

A few days in the police station after being taken into custody, the two remain are left very confused and worrying about their impending fate which is very likely they will not survive by the end of this month. The only response the two men got was a tray with food that is feed through a paper thin slot. Today would have been the day when the assassination of Premiere Levinille.

Eventually, the two men were abruptly taken into an interrogation room and were asked (in a very intimidating manner) who they are and where is Bashir Farabhazi. When they refused to respond or gave an inadequate answer, they would be punish with a punch in the face or splashed with cold water.

The interrogator: "OK, fess up real fast and we'll let you go. Just tell me what on earth were you doing hanging in Kazakhbari with a wad of cash and a picture of the Premier of Vekaiyu?"

Sergey Portin: "Go to hell..."

Sergey was punched by his right jaw, accompanied by a sudden splash of cold water.

Sergey Portin: (Sarcastically) "Ouch...that hurts..."

The man was punched even harder and salt was placed on his wounds.

Sergey Portin: "OOOWWWW!!!!!!! F$£@ YOU!!!!!!!! I WILL NEVER SPEAK!!!!"

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "Please, please, don't hurt him..."

The interrogator: "Shut up! Just say your piece or you will end up like your friend!"

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "I, I....know nothing! I'm only a contact for another guy who deals with another guy!"

The interrogator: "Who is this guy? Who is the other guy? Bashir Farabhazi?!"

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "I am a contact for another contact. I don't have the privilege to speak to the KLF leader himself!!!"

The interrogator: "Who are these other contacts?! You know if you are BSing me, then you will end up like your friend!!!"

Sergey Portin: "Go screw your cow of a mom! I won't say anything even if you bleed my nuts out!"

He wallops Sergey again. This time, right in the testicles.

Sergey Portin: "OOOWWWW!!!!!!! DON'T SPEAK TO THESE ANIMALS, NIEKO!!! PRESERVATION OVER DESTRUCTION!!!"

The interrogator stomped Sergey in the testicles with his spike tipped shoes, leaving blood to ooze out slowly from his testicles.

The interrogator: "You don't die on your terms. You die on MY TERMS!!! Your secrets will be revealed eventually in one form or another! Just tell me where is Bashir Farabhazi and you can leave like that."

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "I don't speak to the same person when I get my info! I speak to different people and then I don't speak to them ever!"

The interrogator: "Name me one person and then we can figure out how to get to Farabhazi."

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "Mi..Mik...Mikhael Vl...Vladiv.....!!"

Sergey kicked his contact in the shins before he could complete his sentence. The interrogator gave a sharp right hook on Sergey for silencing his partner.

The interrogator: "HEY! YOU'RE INTERRUPTING YOUR FRIEND HERE." (Faces to Bullic) "The surname of your contact please..."

Too late. Sergey kicked his partner hard enough to cause him to fall onto the floor, knocking him unconscious. As a result, the police had to suspend the interrogation because their most reliable source is knocked out by his uncooperative partner. This infuriated the interrogator and gave one last smash in the face to Sergey.

The interrogator: "You wicked man! Take these two people to their cells. Wait 'til that contact wakes up and we'll ask him later."

Police guard: "Yes sir!"

As Sergey was dragged away to his cell, he gave one last act of defiance.

Sergey Portin: (Sarcastically) "Preservation over destruction!!! I hope all 1.3 billion of your people will be wiped out in one day... "

The interrogator became so incensed with that comment, he skulled Sergey with his billy club knocking him unconscious too.

Richard Im, President of Bai Lung,

Thank you for the quick response and the prompt delivery of the note in question. I feel extradition would be accepted at this time. Any further revelations they make as to the whereabouts of the others described in the note would be greatly appreciated.

The two men caught on suspicion of planning to kill an important figure in Vekaiyu. It is early morning of September 11th and the two regained conscious after one got skulled for kicking the other over revealing a secret, something which the Kashgar people are not supposed to do even if it means they die for holding that secret.

Sergey Portin: "Hey! Wakey, wakey, you snitch..."

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "Uhhh....wahhh...!"

A soon as Nieko opened his eyes regaining his consciousness from being kicked to the ground, Sergey grabbed his contact and shoved him against the wall.

Sergey Portin: "Are you just some imbecilic little grass?! You don't tell secrets...EVER! Tell nobody about our operations, nothing! Do not give them clues, do not even give them a hint of a clue! As Bashir Farabhazi tells us: Preservation over destruction! We choose to preserve our secret than to give them away and ending up destroying the culture we cherished before our illegal occupiers! "

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "I don't want to see you die. I don't want to die myself I just want to see my wife, man. She's wondering where am I?"

Sergey Portin: "F&&& your wife! She don't know we are doing this! You'll be seen as more noble person to your wife if you choose to die from the beatings of those Chinamen pigs! She'll hate you first because you gave the name of a contact because you betrayed her and all of your people!"

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "But what about you?! You could've died from the beatings of that Bai Lungese interrogator! One more punch from that guy and your inner brain could have collapsed and you would be six feet under at the point. I don't like violence. I hate to see the sight of blood."

Sergey Portin: "That's the reality of things, Nieko! Violence is bloody but we can't achieve peace through victory and we can only achieve victory is through violence against these bird hating bigots! I can take care of myself! If I die in the beatings, then consider that an easy way out! Our secrets would have been preserved and it's back to square one for the Bai Lungese."

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "Please, please just let go of me. I won't say no more!"

Sergey complied with his contact's request.

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "Thank you. I promise no more leaked secrets. I won't say no more. Finito. I'm done. Shake hands."

Sergey reluctantly shook hands with his contact.

Sergey Portin: "Deal."

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "Thank you."

Nieko turned 180 from his parter facing the most western wall.

Sergey Portin: "You know I've got an easier way to keep us quiet if we meet the big guy again."

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "What would that be? I am open too all suggestions..."

Sergey took Nieko by surprise by pressing him down to the floor and strangling him. Nieko's face transformed into a plum from the strangulation process but managed to escape from his ordeal by gouching Sergey's eyes, forcing him to release the contact. Nieko rushed to the door, asking for help to get away from his attacker.

Miekhael Nieko Bullic: "HELP! HELP! I AM BEING ATTACKED..."

Before he could complete what he was saying, Nieko was again pressed down to the floor again, but this time, Sergey grabbed Nieko's head and slammed it repeatedly on the stone floor crushing his skull until it resembled a crumpled up paper. The extremely brutal and fatal attack was sure to kill him.

Sergey Portin: "SHUT UP YOU CU^7, YOU ARE NOT TO SAY ANYTHING TO THE PIGS!!! THIS...IS....HOW...YOU...KEEP...QUIET....YOU....DIE....PRESERVATION....OVER....DESTRUCTION!"

Nieko's call for the police was loud enough to send a group of guards to the scene. Witnessing Sergey's brutal attack on his contact, the police restrained him and gave him a bash to his skull.

Sergey Portin: "KILL ME FAST COPS!!! DON'T KNOCK ME OUT!!! KILL ME!!! I'LL NEVER REVEAL MY LINKS!!!"

The interrogator shot him with a tranq gun, knocking him out.

The interrogator: "I said you can die on my terms. I won't let you out the easy. Move him out of this cell. This tiger needs a bigger and secure cage."

Guard: "Yes, sir! Right away!"

The interrogator took one look at Nieko's motionless corpse and it wasn't good news. There's not much in the way of a head since Sergey smashed Nieko's head so hard, bits of his cranium has spread across the stone floor.

The interrogator: "What has this sick b@st@rd done?"

Guard: "What should we do with the corpse, sir?"

The interrogator almost puked at the bloody aftermath but kept his composure.

The interrogator: "Take the body to the morgue for post mortem examination!"

Guard: "Yes sir!"

A body bag was brought in to take away the mashed body.

The interrogator: "We need to tell the President about this! Our suspect has killed his fellow suspect! This is something unheard of."

Richard Im was left exhausted and frustrated when he was told one of the detainees was dead in custody.

Richard Im: "BULLIC DEAD?! OH MY GOD!! HOW ON EARTH DID THAT HAPPEN?! WHO IS HANDLING THE INTERROGATION?!! I TOLD HIM TO GO EASY ON THE TWO BECAUSE THE KASHGARS WOULD RATHER DIE FAST THAN TO GIVE INFO ON THEIR OPERATIONS!"

Zhou Min Lang: "The chief interrogator did not kill Bullic by accident. In fact, the interrogator didn't even touch Bullic's hair and gave Portin the vast majority of the beatings and he didn't cooperate at all. The two men got quick treatment afterwards."

Calming down a little after a brief sip of the Jack Daniels, Im retained his composure and spoke considerably gentler in tone.

Richard Im: "So what actually happened..."

Zhou Min Lang: "The post mortem examiner found strangulation marks around Bullic's necks. We found Portin's fingerprints all around it, meaning that Portin tried to strangle Bullic as a way to stop him from leaking any info. That failed. According to police guards, they heard him shout out for help before he was silenced. Guards heard loud thudding and then they found Bullic well...I won't go further than that."

Richard Im: "Give me the details...I want to know everything so I can make an action."

Zhou Min Lang: "Well....he....errr....the police found Portin slamming Bullic's head repeatedly on the floor, leaving a huge chunk of brain matter and blood on the floor. Portin tried to force the guards to kill him so he would not jeopardise Farabhazi's operations. The chief interrogator was wise to shoot him with a tranquiliser gun so he can ask further questions."

Richard Im: "OK. Don't brief me further from that. Just take him to Tai Kang Prison. That way, he won't use anything to take his own life like use bed-sheets to hang himself. He'll be under 24/7 surveillance this time."

Zhou Min Lang: "Yes, Mr President. The prison to prison transfer will be underway."

Zhou took 3 steps away from the office but made a sudden 180 degrees turn, suggesting he has one more thing to say.

Zhou Min Lang: "Mr President? I have one more thing that would be of interest."

Richard Im: "Yes? Name it."

Zhou Min Lang: "We got the name of one contact who could lead us to Bashir Farabhazi. His name is Mikhael Vladiv something. Unfortunately, we could not complete the contact's surname because Bullic was the only who knew the name before he was murdered by his own parter."

Richard Im: "Thank you I will inform the Vekaiyun Premier."

With Zhou making a hasty exit, Im sighed from the events that happened in the mainland before he began writing this letter to inform Premier Levinile of the bad news.

Dear Premiere Ikrisia Levinile,

I got some bad news. One of the detainees was brutally murdered by his fellow detainee. It seems that one of them smashed the other's head to kill him just in the name of keeping a secret. We have a name of the contact before he died. The name's Mikhael  V. Not sure if he is of significance but he may will be in your country supervising terrorist plots. I better be quick if I were you with the extradition request otherwise Sergey Portin will hang himself and our chances of stopping Bashir Farabhazi will be a lost cause.

Yours Sincerely,

Richard Im

((OOC: This post is a collaboration between Vulshain and I))

Passing through hallways lined with generals and commodores, Ikrisia finally reached the double-doors of the large room where reporters from all around gathered to gain insight as to the new premiere’s plans regarding the future of the once-heralded vulpine state of Vekaiyu. Almost immediately waves of questions came crashing down on her ears, the tumultuous deliveries enough to make even the most steadfast of politicians sweat under their collar. Ikrisia was no different, but managed to hide her emotions well, she felt, and as she approached her podium, directors subdued the crowd and restored order to the chaotic throngs about them.

“Premiere Levinile will provide a short address, after which questions will be fielded!” The sharply-dressed vulpine male bowed his head and turned to Ikrisia. “Milady you may begin.”

Ikrisia nodded, then proceeded to scan the crowded room. Dozens of reporters were present, some with cameras, others with live-feed video feeds operation, and still others with translators who were quickly writing everything down as fast as they could. Her nerves, though shaky, resolved to be cautiously defiant. Despite her fears, it was apparent from the worried and anxious faces of the groups in front of her that Vekaiyu needed a strong, confident leader focused on freeing the state. Perhaps she could play that part a little while longer.

“It is not often we have to come together in such difficult times. But the actions by those who intend to destroy our nation cannot be overlooked. They must be taken as serious threats and dealt with accordingly. We must accept the fact that Vekaiyu is undergoing a change, a change which is not welcomed by some. But, it is something that we, being Vekaiyuns, must do. We cannot succumb to the pitfalls of division, intolerance, and hatred. Instead, we must uphold the truths of peace, justice, equality, and compassion. It is in those four truths that we will forge this state. I cannot promise perfection; it is naïve to promise such things. But if we work for a common goal, we will see through these troubled times and advance toward a position greater than what we ever thought possible.”

“Tonight, as I speak, Iruk burns. Fek and Ves have sparked and been set alight. And the leaders of Kunnat and Lira have betrayed us and their people for their own selfish desires. Clearly, we are not close to that goal. But, it is in these trying times that we reveal who we really are. Are we a people of strength and unity, or are we a state of division and cowardice? I know what I am. And I know Vekaiyuns are not hateful, divisive people. On the contrary, we as a nation have come a long way to reach where we are today. To cowardly give up and try to bring harm to the nation or its people is the exact opposite of what a Vekaiyun is. Therefore, I urge all who are Vekaiyun to maintain solidarity against the spineless ways of Maxism. Maxism is anti-Vekaiyu. Maxism is treason, a lie fed to many, and still believed by some. To those who have not yet realized the lies of that regime, I ask you to become Vekaiyun again. See it for what it really is, and realize that Vekaiyu is meant for the Vekaiyuns, all Vekaiyuns, and not those who want to kill the state, something Maxists did time and time again. Accept it, fight against the hatred and lies of the past, and you will have your new Vekaiyun state, our Vekaiyun state, one that is open to the world and to progress.”

“Kivia Levinile will now field questions,” the director spoke. About a dozen reporters stood all at once, completely ignoring the civility of the conference up to that point.

“Kivia Levinile! What is the current state of the Vekaiyun military!”

“What do you plan to do if the Vekaiyun state fragments, Premiere Levinile?”

“Are those who proclaim themselves to be Maxist really that much of a threat?”

“Will elections become a reality in the near future?”

“How do you answer to the sharpest Vekaiyun Stock Exchange drop in five years?”

The director held up his hands. “One at a time, people. One at a time.”

While all this was going on, Ikrisia leaned forward into the microphone slowly. “I can answer all questions that I heard. Vekaiyu’s military will be prepared to deal with any and all opposition, be it from organized groups or from their own ranks. Furthermore, the Vekaiyun state will not be fragmented. We are a nation, and a nation divided cannot stand for long. No single Vekaiyun province can operate as an independent state. And for those who cause dissention or division, they are spitting in the face of everything Vekaiyun. I will take personal action against such atrocities.” She paused. “Expect elections for a congress in the future. And no, this is not a hollow promise such as the same one made by Selvala McEva. Once the nation is safe, it can grow.”

“And the economy?” a reporter asked.

“As for the economy, I never claimed to be an expert there. That rests with Vekaiyun economists. We all need to do our part here, people. I’m not a dictator, I’m not going to tell you what to do what to think or how to feel in every way, shape, and form. I am a guide. I want to guide us to a better state and a better tomorrow, or we will lose that very state. This is how serious this is.”

Johnny Tayloronny raised his hand. The director called on him. Johnny mentally smiled to himself in the back of his head as he stood on his chair, towering over the other reporters. "Premiere Ikrisia Levinile, I'm Johnny Tayloronny from The Confederate Sentinel of Vulshain. I have some questions for you."

"Ask away."

Clearing his throat, he then turned on his recorder. “Premiere Levinile, what is your personal opinion on the assassination attempt against King Samuil Rainard of the Confederacy of Vulshain a few weeks ago by terrorist, insurgent, and criminal groups?”

"I am not entirely familiar with the situation as it progresses, so I cannot be certain."

"But surely, you must as the entire world saw the live broadcast of the entire incident."

"True, but I do not understand what this has to do for a conference focusing on the state of the region. Nevertheless, it was a henus attempt on a world leader's life."

Johnny made a mental note to make sure that he put that in his report on Ikrisia. "In regards to the state of region, have any nations offered to send their militaries to assist in restoring order to Vekaiyu?”

"Yes, there have been. But that is something I do not wish to discuss further at this time. If we can avoid any and all involvement to maintain Vekaiyun sovereignty and freedom, that would be most beneficial."

Nodding he continued with his questions. "There have been rumors, which personally I do not believe but I think you should answer just to clarify, that Max Venavle was your father. What is your reaction to these rumors?"

"I was not aware of such rumors... we bear no resemblance. Rest assured, reporter. I'm not cut from that cloth."

"I fully understand. Now, tell me, why is it that in the past, your government has refused to allow Vulshainian Celiam Methodist missionaries from entering your country on the grounds that it would in the past administration's own words, 'steal the pure souls from the Vayan Catholic faith'? Do you plan on continuing that same policy?"

"Vekaiyu is free to practice its own religion. Vayan Catholicism is an open religion. The people who instituted such things think without a mind." She paused. "Nevertheless, I have time for one more question."

"Very well then. There has been much speculation and concern that your lack of political experience, in addition to your rumored human-fetish, will bring great harm to the Holy Republic of Vekaiyu, and that you may become the next Max. What are your thoughts on this, and do you have anything that would silence your critics? Please be very detailed in your answers."

"I am not Max. I never will be Max. To those people who believe so, their doubts will not be silenced until they see action. I think they will quickly see that I literally have nothing in common with that man, and if some believe I do, then they are more lost than what I had assumed. Thank you for your time." Ikrisia stepped from the podium and quickly disappeared to the back.

Johnny sat back down as he turned off his recorder. "Hm...She avoided mentioning her rumored human-fetish. Interesting, better see what else I can dig up on her, like what happened to McEva's administration. I got a hunch."

OOC: Got a reply on the Kashgar problem?

IC: A week since Sergey Portin was in close surveillance at a supermax prison. The prison guards do not want this man to take his own life because he has valuable information that the Bai Lungese government needs. Even trying to hold his breath would result in the summoning of half a dozen guards to force him to breathe properly. The walls are padded so he could not kill himself in the same way that he killed his contact. Should he get aggressive, vents around the ceilings can pump anesthetic gas to calm him down. Escape is impossible for this man...

Ikrisia opened up her laptop and typed away a response to President Richard Im:

Quote:

President Richard Im,

Well, that is unfortunate. It is clear to me now that there is more to the story than we have been lead on to. I will get the ball rolling with a manhunt of the name mentioned by the detainee, and request the immediate extradition of the sole survivor. If he puts up any resistance or attempts to harm himself in anyway, use any action you feel is necessary. While this may be a blank check for your men to do as they please with him, I still want him alive.

Iko sat nervously in his office, having just turned off the television broadcast given by the premiere. He tried to study her, watching her, seeing if there were any comments or questions that made her uneasy. It wasn’t like he hadn’t been doing this the entire day – he pulled up any and all files on her that he could without looking too suspicious after the dinner. The conclusion: her story didn’t quite make sense. Her childhood was amazingly inauspicious for a kral commodore – she lived in her town relatively quietly until she served the Vekaiyun military as a hejul general, but no military history could be found before that point. Then, abruptly, she enrolled into Eldura University about a year or so later. No transcript from her secondary school, just test scores – all high marks. Strange for someone with an incomplete record. Oh, and what luck, her home town? Destroyed by Max.

“Something’s not right,” he muttered to himself as he studied his notes and the various comments he wrote in the margins of the collection of records he had printed off. “And the more I figure out what’s going on, the more danger I’ll probably get myself into. That could be me lying on the floor next, poisoned.”

He flipped the cover off his phone and pressed the speed dial #1, remembering something he had wanted to do earlier. After a few rings, a feminine voice answered. “What’s up?”

“Sis, I need you down here fast. It just isn’t safe to be anywhere but Eldura for the time being. I have no idea what’s going to happen to this nation of ours, but in difficult times at least we’d be able to count on each other.”

A long pause followed. “You just want me to just leave my apartment here? And what about my classes?”

“I know, but don’t worry - I don’t think it’ll be too long. I just need you here, because right now our nation’s crazy. Just try to understand.”

“Okay… I guess I could stay for a bit. But only for a bit. Should I meet you at your home?”

“Please, Sayli. And be quick. I’ll reimburse you for your expenses.”

“Alright. I should arrive sometime around midnight… if I catch the express train at 21:00. I should probably go now. Talk to you later.”

“Okay. Take care.”

“Yeah.”

He closed his phone. Trying to find loopholes in Levinile’s story had been too interesting. He nearly forgot the safety of his own flesh and blood. Fek was getting worse by the hour, and he’d never forgive himself if he couldn’t protect what really mattered to him.
