«Yes, sir. Defecting. Two of them, to be exact. The Death of the Wolf to the FPSian, the Calypso's Doom to us. The FPSians confirm… and they seem rather embarrassed, as they aren’t familiar enough with it. I guess they would have preferred a plain surrebndering»

Nodding at his aide’s final comment, Fleet Admiral Proudmoore glanced outwards, his gaze searching the seas for the approaching Gerald-Ford carrier. Landed planes, the whole crew on the flying deck, all of the defenses lowered… a bright smile appeared on his face as he felt once again the taste of a sweet and swift victory. No matter if they hadn’t de facto taken part to the fight. The day was theirs and theirs alone.

«A rope for the symbolic mooring. Commodore Magran on the deck with an escort of five, ready to take possession of the Calypso's Doom. Immediate reports to New Irem, requesting instructions about the routing remnants of the Rygardian fleet. In the meanwhile… someone, what about the FPSian Invincible?» he barked.

«The Lanius has surfaced very near, trying to be as helpful as possible. In the meanwhile, a team of their technicians has embarked the FPSian ship, but we’re not yet sure about the actual chances to prevent its sinking»

Commodore Jarvis Oliver Weaver was taken a back by the Free Pacific admiral's request to clarify if they were really defecting. "Tell him that we are defecting. Many of us are tired of fighting and dying for power-hungry dictator like Rivers."

The communications officer sent the reply that they were defecting.

--------------------------------------------

Senior Lieutenant Kocatas "Jackal" Merua gasped for breath as the life boat got close enough for him to climb in, with the help of the FPS sailors who lent him a hand. "Thanks," he said, trying to catch his breath. "My name is Senior Lieutenant Kocatas "Jackal" Merua, of the Vulshainian Confederate Naval Aviation branch of the Confederate Navy."

Still trying to catch his breath, he asked, "So, y'all going to take me to your ship, now?"

"They've clarified they're really defecting, sir," the adjunct stated. "They seemed a bit surprised by our response."

Holstrom shrugged. "Alright, then. Acknowledge their defection," he said, reading through a document provided to him by the legal officer of the fleet. "For the moment, ask them and whatever healthy ships we've got to take up a defensive position around the fleet, just in case an attack does come. In the meantime, continue rescue operations."

"Yessir."
_________________________________________________________________________________
The Petty Officer in charge of the lifeboat saluted the Jackal then nodded. "Yes, sir. We'd take you straight to your ship but we're required by procedure to have a doctor check you out after a rescue. Once that's done, though, we can get you back home."

Commodore Jarvis Oliver Weaver nodded as the FPS admiral gave him the orders. "Prepare to defend our FPS brothers and sisters in arms from any attack from those who continue to serve a dictator!"

The Death of the Wolf got into a defensive position to defend the Anti-Rygard Coalition.

-------------------------------------------------------

Senior Lieutenant Kocatas "Jackal" Merua was glad to be out of the water, although, he didn't mind swimming, what with being a Vulpine and everything. He chuckled, as he asked the Petty Officer, "So, did you see me save you and your comrades from that missile?"

---------------------------------------------------------

Battle of Eriborough

Master Sergeant Marus Malhound watched as another M1 Abrams tank was destroyed. Like the members of the 11th Eriborough Regiment, he wore a gas mask, spiked helmet, black greatcoat, heavy boots and gloves, and black fatigues. Like the rest of the regiment, his helmet had a skull motif. He was enraged like the rest of his comrades to see mutts, mongrels, and those who would accept them as humanity's equals invade his country. it made his blood boil to see the traitors alive and fighting alongside the enemies. He shouted, "For Rygard! Brothers and sisters of Rygard! Remember: Rygard is Power, Power is Rygard!"

"Rygard is Power, Power is Rygard!"

The national motto was repeated and almost sounded like a chorus, as the defenders of Eriborough fought back.

--------------------------------------------------
Battle of Eriborough

Private Gurssen Vusteri gasped in shock as a comrade was pounced by the Rygardi soldier. The enemy's face was hidden by a gas mask as the Rygardi tried to stab Gurseen's comrade with a bayonet. "Go to Hell, Dog!"

Gurssen clobbered the Rygardi with a shovel, beating his head in. After that, he slammed the shovel into another Rygardi's throat, nearly decapitating the soldier. Gurssen fired his AK-74 at several soldiers.

T-80 tanks, T-90 tanks, 2A65 Msta-B 152mm Howitzers, D-30 122mm Howitzers, and 2S3 Akatsiya 152mm Self-Propelled Howitzers fired at the coming enemy advance.

Master-Sergeant Kekteremia Molesevist opened fire with the NSV heavy machine gun, mowing down the enemy soldiers.

Gurssen saw an Efreitor holding a RPO-A Shmel shoulder-mounted rocket-launcher, get hit. She howled in pain as she fell to the ground, grabbing her leg. A defected Rygardi soldier ran and picked up the rocket launcher and fired the rocket, destroying a Humvee. Gurssen quickly came to the wounded Lobo Efreitor's aid. Drapping her arm over his shoulders, he began to take her out of the battle. "Come on, comrade, we got to get you out of here."

"Leave me, finis--*cough*--finish the battle," she said through coughs of blood. They were covered by two gray uniformed defected Rygardi soldiers, they too wearing gas-masks and spiked helmets like the loyal Rygardi soldiers.

"Like hell, I am. What's your name, comrade?"

"Efreitor Sesima...*cough*...Erseristeria. Yours, comrade?"

"Private Gurssen Vusteri of the 9th Confederate Engineering Infantry Regiment."

"7th Army Infantry."

"Nice fur pattern," he said, trying to keep her awake.

"Thanks. You got a pretty one too." They both laughed. The two Rygardi soldiers just groaned as they returned fire, covering the two Confederate soldiers.

They arrived at the base camp's medical tent, where the wounded were being brought. There were several Rygardi combat field medics who had defected at Salaror, who were assisting the Confederate medics. "Medic! I got a wounded comrade here!" Two medics and Gurssen helped Sesima onto a bed.

"Thanks, comrade," she said as one of the medics injected painkillers in here.

"No problem," he said with a smile and a wagging of his tail. She smiled back, then she howled as the medics began to remove the bullets from her left leg.

Gurssen looked around at the other wounded soldiers. There was people missing limbs or covered in bloodstained bandages. A Rygardi medic trying to help a Confederate soldier simply gave up and pulled a pistol out. The wounded soldier's eyes widened. He couldn't scream as his muzzle was badly damaged. Gurssen and another Confederate soldier stopped him, taking the medic's gun from him. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" Gurssen was angry, his ears flat against his head.

"Mercy death."

"Mercy death!? You son of a bitch!" The Rygardi medic simply shrugged and went to work on another injuried soldier. "Damn--"

The other soldier rested his hand on Gurssen's shoulder. "It's not his fault, comrade."

"Huh?" He turned to look at the dark-skinned human man. The man was a Junior Sergeant, but he was missing his entire right arm. "The name's Rex Matton. 78th Motor Rifle Division."

Gurssen introduced himself. "What were you saying, that it isn't his fault?"

"Their culture. They learn to fight and if you can't fight because you're wounded in battle, you're no longer any use for the military, so you they put you down. No offense."

"None taken," Gurssen said. The bandaged soldier who Rex and Gurssen had just saved, mumbled that he hadn't been offended either.

"Well, you take care Gurssen."

Both the canine soldiers told Rex goodbye.

The Petty Officer shook his head. "I've been below deck all day, sir, until now." He smiled, though, and pointed to the carrier. "But I think they know what you're talking about."

A group of around fifty people, mostly pilots, were gathered at the empty lifeboat station. As the boat crew raised the boat back into its home, the sailors flooded it, patting Merua on the back, offering him cigars, and thanking him.

An exhausted-looking medic interrupted the celebration after a few minutes. "Senior Lieutenant Merua?" He asked, looking at the vulpine. "I'm under orders to take you directly to sickbay, sir, for a checkup." He held up a hand before any of the celebrating pilots could object. "The order comes directly from the Admiral, sirs."

Admiral Holstrom watched as a skeleton crew returned to the Invincible. "Send a message of thanks to the Rezlians," he said after a moment. "We couldn't have saved that ship without them. I'm not sure what they were able to do, but, it was mighty impressive."

"Will do, sir," his adjunct stated after a moment. "The captains of the damaged vessels and the Invincible are requesting permission to return to port."

"Tell them to get underway," the Admiral stated. "Send the amphibious squadron with them as support. It won't be much, but, it'll be something." He took a breath. "Also, what's the condition of that pilot?"

"En route to sickbay, sir," the adjunct stated. "Seems fine, according to the rescuers, but we're still unsure."

"Alright. Notify the Vulshainians we've got him," the admiral said. "And let's finish up rescue operations. I want this fleet back at port, ASAP."

Vice Admiral Ankari Pikisi was contacted by her second in command, Captain Miles Raymundo Ellis. "What is it?"

"Ma'am, are you crying?"

"Just tell me what you got to say, and say it."

"Um...The Free Pacific crew of the Independence just contacted us. They have informed me that they just got Senior Lieutenant Kocatas "Jackal" Merua out of the water. They say that he is alright, but they are going to check him out to make sure."

Vice Admiral Pikisi breathed a sigh of relief. "Get a Hind ready to fly me over to the Independence, now!"

She hung up and raced towards the Hind on the flight deck.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Senior Lieutenant Kocatas "Jackal" Merua smiled as he shook hands. He turned down the cigars, saying, "Sorry, but my girlfriend would skin me alive if she caught a sniff of cigar smoke on me."

He then left for the sickbay.

-----------------------------------------------------

Captain Miles Raymundo Ellis watched as the Hind took off for the Free Pacific carrier. "Inform the commander of the Independence that Vice Admiral Ankari Pikisi of the VCS Canghi is coming aboard their ship."

Captain Ellis hoped that his superior wouldn't do something stupid.

"She's coming...NOW?" Holstrom asked. "Well, alright. Clear her to land. And get me an honor guard on the deck, now! Use marines -- they're not doing much of anything right now, anyway."

The adjunct nodded. "Uh, yessir."

"I'm heading now there myself," the Fleet Admiral continued, making his way towards the exit of the Admiral's Bridge. "Tell the Vice Admiral that the fleet is his for the moment."

Holstrom reached the bottom of the control tower just as four marines, clad in full dress uniform, came running out of the bowels of the ship. He waved down a Petty Officer, asked where the chopper was landing, and then led the marines there. When the helicopter landed, the marines all stood at full attention, and a deck crewman ran forward to open the door.

Medical Center
The medic interrogated Merua on the way to sick bay, asking him every imaginable question about his medical history, then asking him every imaginable question about how he felt at that moment. The non-commissioned officer appeared satisfied only just as they reached two large doors, marked "MEDICAL CENTER" in huge font.

Merua and the medic walked through the doors into absolute chaos. There were a few dozen beds in the large main room of the medical center, all inhabited, and even more gurneys with people on them. A half dozen doctors, a dozen nurses, and twice as many medics were running about, clearly overwhelmed, and the three "operating room" doors all stood closed with an "Operation in Progress" sign over them. The medic gestured Merua to a somehow empty corner, told him a doctor would be with him soon, then joined the bustle.

A doctor did indeed approach after a few minutes. The twenty-something ensign appeared exhausted, overwhelmed, and generally unhappy. "I'm Doctor Tormen," he said, offering his hand, and doing his best to smile. "I'm the most knowledgeable person around here in non-human medicine. That doesn't make me as qualified as a doctor that specialized in vulpine medicine, but, I'll be able to do a basic check-up. The big question: do you feel any pain right now?"

As he was escorted to Sickbay, Senior Lieutenant Kocatas "Jackal" Merua was asked a great many questions about his medical history. He couldn't recall anything major. "No, I don't have any major health problems or anything you should be concerned about."

When he entered the sickbay, his ears popped up in shock at the sight of the number of injured. "Damn, we should have gotten here sooner," he thought as he was told to wait in a corner and wait for a doctor.

When Doctor Tormen arrived and asked him was he in pain, Jackal shook his head and said, "No, sir. A little damp, but nothing a heat lamp or a blowdryer won't fix, I guess. Um...I guess I'm clear, huh?"

------------------------------------------------------

Vice Admiral Ankari Pikisi was extremely nervous. "Is he alright? Is he hurt?"

She was on the verge of nervous breakdown. "If he is alright...I'll...I'll..." Before she could finish coming up with a decent punishment for Meru making her worry her brains out, the pilots let her know that they were about to land. She saw the FPS marines and a man who she assumed was the head of the Third Fleet.

The Hind landed on the FPS carrier. She exited the gunship and approached the Fleet Admiral. "Fleet Admiral Ralph Holstrom of the Free Pacific Naval Ship Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, Independence," she said in lisped English as she saluted. "I am Vice Admiral Ankari Pikisi, captain of the Vulshainian Confederate Admiral Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier, Canghi, and commander of the entire Vulshainian Northern Naval Fleet." She hated being short when she saw that Fleet Admiral Holstrom was a foot and three inches taller than her. "Hell, even Jackal is taller than me!"

Unlike the FPS admiral, Vice Admiral Pikisi's uniform was a bluish-black color and she wore a great coat.

Doctor Tormen raised an eyebrow. "No pain at all? That is...unusual, at least for a human. I did not know vulpine physiology to be so strong -- most humans suffer from general body pain, temporary body shortening, and strong headaches after an ejection." He shrugged. "Well, let me take a quick look at you, anyway. If you don't feel any pain, you're probably fine, but procedure requires a full checkup of any rescued individual."

Holstrom wore a very different uniform indeed, based clearly off the American design, but returned Pikisi's salute in a very similar manner. "Welcome aboard, Admiral Pikisi, it is an admiral to have you here."

The Fleet Admiral took a breath. "Admiral, why don't we skip the pleasantries? You're here to see a pilot from what your executive officer stated. I will say, we owe him our lives, and I can understand your wanting to ensure his health in person. The man is clearly a hero." Holstrom motioned towards the con tower. "If you'll follow me, I can take you to the medical bay. They're examining him there."

Meru chuckled. "Not really, Vulpines are just about as strong humans. I just got lucky, I supposed. I guess the Almighty and St. Aiya were looking out for me." He allowed the doctor to examine him to make sure he was okay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Vice Admiral Pikisi lowered her arm and nodded. "Yes, Senior Lieutenant Kocatas "Jackal" Merua is indeed a brave, yet rash, pilot. What he did was indeed heroic. The Confederate military trains our soldiers to be ready to save the lives of our comrades, even foreign comrades." She smiled and her tail wagged a little. "He is one of the Northern Fleet's best fighter pilots. I am glad that we were able to arrive just in time before the Rygardi had completely destroyed your fleet." She then looked around at the carrier. "I have never been on a Nimitz-class carrier before. I have always served aboard Admiral Kuznetsov-class carriers. Very different from the Admiral Kuznetsov-class. Very different indeed." She then followed him to the medical bay. "Oh Lord, please let him be okay." She took out her Celiam Methodist pendant and kissed it for luck, before putting it back underneath her uniform.

Tormen nodded as he ran through a quick checkup. "Yeah, you're definitely lucky. I can't find much of anything wrong with you. A bit of high blood pressure, but, nothing of note." He took a step back. "Alright. I'll have an orderly bring you a discharge form..."

He trailed off as the Fleet Admiral, Vice Admiral, and four marine honor guards entered the room. "Uh, Admiral," he said, clearly surprised. "Can I help you?"

The Fleet Admiral nodded. "I think so. Is this Senior Lieutenant Kocatas Merua?" When the Lieutenant nodded, the Admiral motioned to Pikisi. "This is Admiral Pikisi. I think she'll want a full report on his condition."

"Of course," the ensign said. "I've not much to report, though, to be honest. He's doing fine -- took no real injury from his ejection. Quite extraordinary, in fact"

Senior Lieutenant Kocatas "Jackal" Merua was surprised to see the Fleet Admiral. He was more surprised to see Vice Admiral Ankari Pikisi enter the sickbay behind him. The Vulpine admiral sighed as she was relieved by Doctor Tormen's report. Before anyone could say or do anything, especially Senior Lieutenant Merua, Vice Admiral Pikisi rushed to him, pushing aside both Fleet Admiral Holstrom and Doctor Tormen, and grabbed the pilot's collar, bringing his muzzle close to her own. "You hotheaded son of a mutt! Do you have any idea what you put me through by doing something so heroic and brave?" Merua whimpered as his ears flattened against his head and his tail went between his legs. "Um..Sorry, ma'am..."

"What!?"

"Um...I...I mean..."

Suddenly, the Vice Admiral kissed the Senior Lieutenant, cutting off anything else he was trying to say. His eyes widened in surprise at first, before giving in to the kiss as well. He kissed back.

The fleet admiral, doctor, and marines stared for a few moments before Holstrom snapped back to reality. "Doctor," he said, looking at Tormen, "why don't you get back to work." He then looked at the marines. "Gentlemen, I think you can wait outside."

The four marines saluted, then stepped into the corridor, while Tormen plunged into the chaos of the medical center. Holstrom waited a few more moments after that then cleared his throat. "Vice Admiral, Lieutenant, I don't mean to sound harsh, but there may be a better place for this reunion."

Vice Admiral Pikisi opened her eyes in surprise and broke the kiss from Senior Lieutenant Merua. She was wagging her tail like crazy as she tried to regain her composure. "Um...Yes. Admiral Holstrom." She took a deep breath and exhaled. "Please lead the way."

Holstrom nodded. "Of course." He looked to Merua. "Lieutenant, an non-commissioned officer ought to stop by soon with discharge papers. Sign those papers then step outside -- a marine will be waiting to take you to the flight deck. Thank you." He turned back to the Admiral. "I would bring him, mam, but the chief medical officer would be very angry if the Lieutenant without signing that form."

Senior Lieutenant Merua nodded. "Yes, sir!" He saluted Holstrom who returned his salute. He then waited for the discharge papers as both admirals left.

As they left, Vice Admiral Pikisi felt like something was bothering Admiral Holstrom. "Fleet Admiral Holstrom, if I may ask, is something bothering you?"

The Fleet Admiral sighed as the two walked through the corridors, preceded by the honor guard. The marine fire team now contained only three members at the request of Holstrom, who wanted a marine to stay behind with Merua. But it found no trouble pushing its way through the crowded bulkheads, not while carrying assault rifles, and definitely not when clearly followed by two flag officers.

Holstrom clearly encountered more difficulty with his thoughts than the marines with their assignment. "Admiral, I do not normally interject myself into the personal affairs of others, and I mean no disrespect. But as a peer, I must ask: do you feel it wise to be in a relationship with a subordinate?"

"To be honest Admiral, I originally had no desire to start a relationship with one of my subordinates. However, before I started...this relationship with Senior Lieutenant Merua, I was basically a 32-year old virgin who had no social life outside of her military career. I had tried a blind date, but it went south before the night began and I got drunk at the bar. Someone offered to drive me home as I was too drunk to drive. I accepted, and long story short, I discovered that the person I slept with was Senior Lieutenant Merua. We are still trying to work things out." Vice Admiral Pikisi had been careful not to mention that she had been dating Merua for at least two and a half months, and that they've been sleeping with one another for the past month.

The Fleet Admiral nodded. "I can certainly understand that things happen," he said, "and I've nothing against officers dating other officers. But while I am certain of your ability to command any officer in combat, could you live with it if you gave an order that led to his death?"

Vice Admiral Pikisi's tail wagged nervously behind her as her mind and heart began to search for an answer. She couldn't find one. "I...I don't know, Admiral. I don't know." She knew she couldn't keep Merua on the sidelines, but if she gave him a mission and he got killed, she just couldn't live with herself. She almost lost it when she thought he had died, saving the Independence. She had a lot to think about their relationship.

"Well, just something to think about, Admiral," Holstrom said. He decided not to pursue the subject further -- partly because he felt he had made his point, partly because the two had just reached the Admiral's Bridge.

A dozen hurried officers saluted quickly as the two Admirals entered the command center of the fleet. Holstrom saluted back then led Pikisi to a large chart of the surrounding area. The chart lay on a table near the center of the room; the positions of nearby ships and aircraft formations were projected onto it.

The Fleet Admiral sighed as he looked at the chart. "On a more strategic matter," he said after a moment, "I present only bad news. The Third Fleet is at half strength right now -- one ship sunk during battle, five were too badly damaged to do anything but limp back to port, and no ship got away without taking a few hits. We are in no shape to continue at this point, as a result and it will probably take a few weeks to get back to the strength to be able to do so."

Vice Admiral Pikisi studied the chart. "Hm...Fleet Admiral, while I do agree that the Third Fleet's strength has been reduced, there may be so hope." She pointed to the northeast. "The Vulshainian Confederate Eastern Fleet is located here. It is led by the Lance of the West, and don't ask me why the flagship of the Eastern Fleet has a ship named the Lance of the West. Nobody knows why. Anyhow, our combined forces, consisting of the Vulshainian Eastern and Northern Fleets, your Third Fleet, the Rygardi defectors, and the Rezielian fleet, may have enough strength. But as you just mentioned, your Third Fleet has been badly damaged, including your fighter wing. While we can do nothing to restore the ships, the Confederacy maybe able to 'patch up' your fighter wings, for lack of a better way of saying it. We might be able to loan you some our MiG-29Ks, of course, we'll have to train your pilots in how to fly them."

"That is an honorable offer," Holstrom said after a moment, "but not one that I feel comfortable accepting. The Rygardians took out five of eight missile ships, which leaves us in horrible shape, and decimated our air wing. We've got a lot of pilots left, yeah, but most are going to be recovering from the physical trauma related to ejection for the next couple weeks. And the ship we lost was our fleet tender -- which means we're in horrible shape, supply wise. Not to mention that no ship got away without damage -- there's a giant crater on the front deck of this very carrier."

Holstrom shook his head. "No, I don't think I can commit us to another battle so soon, and I know the Commander of Northern Command will overrule me if I try." He sighed. "I'd not count on much from the Rezelians, either. They exited neutrality to help us out but they've got nothing invested in this war."

Vice Admiral Pikisi nodded. "I see. Well, then, if possible, it might be beneficial to train those pilots who didn't eject on how to pilot MiGs and Sukhoi Su-33s. As for the fleet tender, three carriers that were on patrol have been ordered to meet up with us. The flagship, the Lance of the West, is a Ulyanovsk-class supercarrier. There is probably an extra tender which is often used just in case of emergencies, which I suppose this counts as such an emergency."

The Fleet Admiral pondered the offer for a moment but then shook his head. "Again, I'm very thankful for the offer, but even the surviving ships of my fleet are pretty well damaged. We were taking fire from aircraft, missile, and gun fire when you showed up. We're thankful for your help but we are in no condition for offensive combat operations. I'm sorry, Vice Admiral."

The Vice Admiral nodded. "I understand Fleet Admiral Holstrom. How long will it take for the Third Fleet to be back up to full strength? We will escort you to whatever base or port you are heading to."

The Admiral smiled. "We thank you for that, Vice Admiral. We're not heading far, thankfully -- the Third Fleet is stationed at the Free Pacifican military base in Reziel. But it will likely take a few weeks to get everything back in order." He sighed. "Under normal conditions, of course, it'd take shorter. We could have new ships here in a few days. But, with the Pax standoff continuing, the President isn't willing to commit anything more than the Third Fleet to this operation."

"I understand. Besides, it would give our forces the chance to stock up on supplies and refuel in order to better prepare so we'll be ready to attack again." She stuck out her hand. "I'm afraid I must be returning to my ship now, Fleet Admiral Holstrom, but I can ensure you that the Third Fleet has the full support of the Confederate Navy."

"Of course, Vice Admiral," Holstrom replied. He shook Pikisi's hand, then saluted her. "It was a pleasure meeting you, mam, and I wish you the best. If it is okay, the marines will show you back to your helicopter, and we'll have your Senior Lieutenant meet you there."

Vice Admiral Pikisi returned the salute. "It was a pleasure to meet you as well, Fleet Admiral." When offered the marines to show her back to the helicopter, she nodded. "Thank you, Fleet Admiral." She followed the marines back to the Hind.

Danorcius, Capital of the Armed Republic of Rygard

The Assembly of the Senatorial Council was probably the only building in all of Rygard that didn't look gothic and menacing. Right now, there was an emergency meeting of the members of the Senatorial Council.

Marisa Florine Roach sighed as she tapped her pen against the table. Beside her, Gray Perce was humming to himself.

"What are we waiting for," said Senatorial Councilor Cary Johnathan Yang.

"Beats me," replied Senatorial Councilor Ruben Brendon Frank as he checked his watch for the twentith time in a row.

Even the eight guards were getting bored and annoyed. Suddenly, the doors opened and three Commissars walked in along with four Rygardi Death Squad Troopers. The Major Commissar unfolded a piece of paper and read it aloud:

"Presidential Viceroy Archibald Rivers has ordered your deaths as of today for acts of treason against the rightful government of the Armed Republic of Rygard. The Senatorial Council is guilty of attempting to make peace with the enemies of Rygard, specifically the Canine Axis Powers of Vulshain, Vekaiyu, and Southern Yugoslavia and their human puppet slaves, and attempting to undermine the authority of the Rygardi Republican Military. Evidence of your traitorious crimes has been supplied and verified as truth by Intios Krell, Administrator of the Republican Investigative Bureau Against All Threats (RIBAAT). Supreme Commissar Flavion Victus has authorized that all members of the Senatorial Council be executed now!"

The Rygardi Commissars and Death Squad Troopers opened fire. The Rygardi guards wearing the blue and black sashes who were protecting the Senatorial Councilors panicked and opened fire on the Commissar.

Senatorial Councilor Ruben Brendon Frank hissed in pain as his right leg was reduced to swiss cheese. Behind their executioners, Senatorial Councilor Emory Elliot Herrera produced a small pistol and fired a few rounds, killing two of the Death Squad Troopers before the others fired back.

Several guards outside of the Chambers of the Republic heard the commotion and rushed to the scene. They opened fire on the executioners.

The room resembled a warzone. Blood and bullet-filled bodies mixed with debris.

The twenty-five members of the Senatorial Council had been reduced to eleven.

"Oh my God," Senatorial Councilor Kristofer Jorge Bell gasped as he looked at what was left of Senatorial Councilor Millicent Wollsey.

The only Councilors that remained were Bell, Frank, Yang, Roach, Willie Golden, Greta Mona Oneill, Summer Juliet Patel, Fannie Ortiz, Lily Madelyn Banks, Graig Freeman, and Milford Reinaldo Noel. Colonel Anibal Sol was trembling. "Honorable Senatorial Councilor-Speaker Freeman...wh--what should we do?"

"Get us the Hell out of here. We need to get to the Old Building," the fifty-year old Graig Freeman said as he brushed some dust and debris from his shoulder.

------------------------------------------------------------------

The Old Building was a secret location that only members of the Senatorial Council and a few trusted guards knew about. It was located almost on the outskirts of the capital city. They had been lucky to reach it with no trouble. A few of the remaining guards drove the Councilors' cars away from the Old Building to prevent the Rygardi Death Squad Troopers from executing what was left of the Council.

The Old Building was once used by medieval merchant guilds and had also served as the city council's meeting place prior to the construction of the new City Hall. Still, the Old Building stood for many years after it was no longer needed. Now, the Old Building was needed once more.

Once safely inside the Old Building's Inner Sanctum, a guard flipped a switch. The lights of the Inner Sanctum flickered on for a few seconds, went off for several minutes, came on for a brief second, went off again for nearly half an hour, before finally coming back and staying on.

Honorable Senatorial Councilor-Speaker Freeman sighed. Roach was the first speak up, "I can't believe this! Why would Rivers do this?"

"I only briefly spoke with that ambassador from the Free Pacific States, but it was only to say hi," Yang admitted.

"Maybe we gave the Viceroy and the military too much power," Summer Juliet Patel suggested. "Maybe if we hadn't bowed to the military, none of this might have happened."

"Oh please," Milford Reinaldo Noel accused. "You always eager to suck up to the hawkish brass."

"Well, what do we do now?"

The Councilors began to argue and complain before Freeman slammed the Guildmaster's Gavel down, silencing the Council with the loud bang that echoed throughout the Inner Chamber, making it seemed as if the Old Building herself had commanded the Council to order. Freeman stood up and spoke, "The Senatorial Council was created to represent the citizens of the Armed Republic of Rygard. We survived this despicable act. It has become clear that we have failed in our responsibility of protecting the very citizens of this nation. It has become clear that it is our time to redeem ourselves and do what is right." The others nodded in agreement.

Sitting back down, he turned to Colonel Anibal Sol and asked, "Colonel Sol, is there a chance that there are those in the military who will rise up in retaliation to what happened at the Assembly?"

The colonel nodded. "There's a chance, but it's risky."

"Then make it so."

Suddenly, the three energy cannons overheated and stopped working. "Quick! Get these working before the East Malaysians counterattack!"

"We're trying! But this is their technology we're using! Wait? What's--ARGH!"

The energy cannons started working again, but this time they began going crazy, firing in every direction, hitting everything except the East Malaysian ships.

(OOC: EM you can destroy the energy cannons if you want)

Esteroak, Rygard

The Southern Yugoslavian soldiers just looked at the naked Vulpine vixen in shock, before finally a female Lobo soldier said, "Um...Ma'am, you do realize that you're naked, right?"

The vixen looked at herself. "EEEEK!" She dropped her weapon. She covered her breasts with her arm and used her tail to cover between her legs.

"I was walking around her butt naked!"

The male soldiers laughed, but a quick glare from two female soldiers quiet them. "It's okay ma'am. Come on let's get you out of here. What's your name?"

"Natalka Rainard."

------------------------------------

Greenhurst Downs, Rygard

Michael Darricsmith swung the metal baseball bat at the Commissar, shatting the man's skull in. "Down with the Rygardi government! Give Rygard to Vulshain!"

Somebody had snatched a riot police officer's riot shield and was now beating a Rygardi soldier with it. Several people had ganged up on a War Guard and were beating her with clubs, pipes, frying pans, tire irons, and fists. As the mob swallowed up the War Guard, her armored hand broke through before being pulled down into the crowd.

Michael lit a cocktail bomb and hurled it at a Humvee, where it exploded like a Roman candle, setting the jeep and its occupants on fire.

"Down with the Presidential Regime! Give Rygard to Vulshain!"

Michael watched as the Rygardi soldiers began to retreat in fear. Even the Commissars were fleeing.

Archibald Rivers knew that even if the East Malaysian ships fired upon the Presidential Fortress, it would do nothing. The Fortress was designed to withstand 8.5 earthquake. The windows were bullet-proof, and the entire building was NBC shielded. However, in a way, while his safety was guaranteed, he was now trapped, what with Rygard falling apart. He could count on the Commissars to stay loyal as well as the War Guards and the vast majority of the military, but the civilian masses, were a different matter all together. With riots breaking out in many cities, and the masses demanded to be annexed by Vulshain, Archibald was at his wits' end.

"I warned you about being rash and bold, brother."

Archibald spun around and looked at one of the communications monitors. "What do you want, Xavier?"

"Just to see if my dear older brother was doing alright. Seems you aren't."

"Get me out of here, Xaiver!"

"I'm sorry, Archibald. I can't do that."

"What!?"

"You got yourself into this mess, you can get yourself out. Maybe if you throw yourself at the mercy of your enemies, they may let you live...although, that's highly unlikely, given your hate-speeches and the assassination attempts you tried against some of the region's leaders. Goodbye and good luck, although your luck has almost run out."

Archibald cursed his younger brother when a lightning bolt flashed across the sky and thunder boomed in the distance.

[[OOC: Vulshain, hope you don't mind, but I'm going to have my troops break out of the beachhead at Esteroak, and ultimately put the city under my control. I'll change it if you want, just let me know.]]

Esteroak, Rygard

Fighting in the city had died down, except for a few sectors under dwindling Rygardi control. In front of the town hall at the flagpole, the Rygardi flag had been brought down, and replaced with a crisp Southern Yugoslavian flag. Soldiers were posing for pictures with the captured flag while armored vehicles roamed the streets behind them. Many of the citizens that didn't evacuate the city when the landing craft hit the beaches, cheered for the Marines that fought to free their city.

In the park close to the town hall, a field hospital had been set up. The battle had cost almost 70 Southern Yugoslavian Marines their lives, and wounding another 150. Helicopters continued landing, dropping more troops and equipment. By nightfall, an additional 5,000 troops had been landed to accompany the 5,000 already on shore.

Esteroak Outskirts, Rygard

Type 10 main battle tanks rolled into the open plains that surrounded Esteroak, and proceeded at top speed. BMP-3s rolled behind them, hauling troops to secure the capital.

Danorcius, Rygard

The commander motioned his head, and three of the soldiers got to work on the car. Overhead, thunder boomed as rain began falling on the group.

OOC: Looks good. The next city is Greenhurst Downs, which is experiencing a lot of riots, as well as the city of New Amuron, where the HQ of the Commissars. If that city falls, the Commissars will be in a panic.

IC:

Danorcius, Capital of the Armed Republic of Rygard

Archibald listened to the reports. Esteroak had fallen to the Southern Yugoslavias. Greenhurst Downs was in complete chaos. New Amuron was safe for the time being. The Supreme Commissar Flavion Victus ensured him that New Amuron would not fall to the enemy. "It better not Supreme Commissar. For your sake."

"What?"

"You heard me. Rygard is falling into chaos, and here I thought the Commissars were supposed to maintain order!"

"We are!"

"Then do it you idiotic bastard!"

"Yes...Yes, Presidential Viceroy!"

Road between New Amuron and Esteroak

It was scene of pure gruesome carnage. The road between New Amuron and Esteroak was littered with the remains of ruined vehicles and dead bodies. High Commissar Havor Janil smiled as he watched the soldiers of the 69th Infantry and the 12th War Guard Regiment punished those who sought to seek sancutary with the mongrels. "Sir, enemy forces are approaching. Southern Yugoslavian," a War Guard reported.

"Have you finished eliminating these betrayers?" Someone screamed nearby, then silence.

"Yes, sir."

"Set up defensive positions. We must destroy the Southern Yugoslavian mutts."

Road between New Amuron and Esteroak

The Type 10s rolled at maximum speed along the open plain, the BMPs following up behind them. Overhead, ZSU-15s prepared to drop JDAMs onto the Rygardi defensive positions below. Ka-52 gunships followed behind the armored column, ready to move into position to help break the enemy's line. One of the Type 10 tank commanders broke the radio silence.

-Rygardi position, direct front, frontal. One round HEAT at my command, ready report.-

Each of the nine tanks in the front loaded a HEAT round, and the lead tank fired a round to mark the center of the defensive position. The lead tank reloaded, and each of the tanks reported ready.

-Fire!-

Each of the nine tanks simultaneously fired their guns at the Rygardi defensive position.

The Rygardi defensive position was hit hard by the Southern Yugoslavians' attacks. "Fall back!"

"No! Hold the line!" The attack had thrown the entire defense into chaos.

Attack on Rygardi Defensive Positions, Road 1 Alpha

The tank commander remained calm and collected.

-The Rygardi defense is being to rout. All units, prepare to crush Rygardi defensive line. One round HEAT at my command, ready report.-

The tanks once again loaded a HEAT round, and picked out new targets. Each tank reported ready, and for a second time, the tanks fired simultaneously at the chaotic Rygardi line.

The Rygardi began to fall back. "Get back in there!" The commisar shot one of his own soldiers. The War guards continued to fight despite the fight going badly for the Rygardi.

"Where are the reinforcements?"

"They can't send any! There are reports of riots starting to break out in New Amuron!"

"What!? Impossible! Fall back to New Amuron!"

"What about Greenhurst Downs?"

"That city will not matter if New Amuron falls!"

Advancing Southern Yugoslavian forces: 500 meters from collapsing Rygardi line.

The lead tank commander reported in over the radio to the rest of the offensive.

-Rygardi line at Road One Alpha is collapsing. Armor Group Bravo proceeding through hole in the line to meet Armor Group Alpha in New Amorun. All vehicles, fire at will.-

The armor group closed the distance between it and the retreating Rygardi forces. Overhead, helicopter gunships began picking off targets with 30 mm autocannon fire. Within a few minutes, the armor group was right on top of the Rygardi line.

Havor was screaming orders right and left as the Southern Yugoslavians crushed the Rygardi soldiers. The War Guards were destroyed. Meanwhile, Greenhurst Downs continued to be plagued by riots, and New Amuron was about to suffer the same fate.

In the air, five minutes from Greenhurst Downs

A few miles ahead of Armor Group Alpha, 12 Ka-60 helicopters were loaded with 16 troops each. The commander of Chalk One began briefing the troops over the radio.

-Alright, listen up. We're going to be above Greenhurst Downs in five mikes. They're experiencing riots, so we're going to capitalize on the situation. Armor Group Alpha still has to break through the line, so ETA on reinforcements is at least an hour before we can airlift more troops to a secured location in the city. The drop zones are marked with green smoke grenades. Secure those, and we'll be getting more reinforcements. After securing drop zones, move to secure targets. Air cover is limited to gunship cover from the Ka-52s due to civilian presence. Watch your fire, civvies are in the area. Prepare to fast rope.-

The helicopters came to their drop points, and the ropes were thrown out over the side. Each helicopter dropped their chalk, and left the battlefield. Ka-52s came in after, ready to support the air assault force.

Greenhurst Downs was literally a war zone. Fires were burning everywhere. Buildings were collapsing, flattening innocents. Rygardi soldiers fired on civilians, rioting or not. The wrecks of military vehicles littered the streets. A blackhawk helicopter had crashed into an apartment building.

A commisar yelled out, "Enemy spotted!" Just as the Rygardi were about to fire on the Southern Yugoslavians, a mob attacked the Rygardi soldiers. All hell had broken loose.

Chalk One, 10 blocks from the Radio Station

Chalk One had secured it's drop zone, located 10 blocks from their target. They took cover in an office building not far from their drop zone. The Chalk Leader put a marked map on the table and briefed his troops.

"We're here." The sergeant pointed at the green square on the map. "Our target is here." He moved his finger to a red square not far from the green one. "It's 10 blocks, all of which are filled with rioting civvies and Rygardi troops. Eyes peeled, try not to hit civvies. We're moving out."

The Chalk packed up and began moving towards the Radio Station.

Chalk 1 continued to advance down the street without being harassed as the mobs kept the Rygardi soldiers busy. Chalk 1 came to a halt at an intersection, six blocks from the radio station. Down the street, fires burned from Molotov cocktails and protesters battled with the Rygardi military.

"We have to get these people off of the street." one of the sergeants said to the Chalk leader.

"That's why we're hitting the radio station. We can set up speakers and hopefully, get them off the street."

The Chalk continued towards the radio station.
