The Conclave has had a busy year and I propose archiving any thread over six months old in January. I do not believe in archiving a matter as soon as it is decided. Our little corner of TEP gets a lot of hits for a reason. People are concerned with what we do and how we do it - and they are less likely to dig for it in an Archive. I think it's reasonable to leave the last 6 months up (the term of a Viceroy) and archive older threads. What do you think? I am considering asking Admin to have the existing Citizenship Thread renamed to 2009-2010 Citizenship, lock it, and link the forum main page to a new Citizenship thread at the time of the El Farto Dayo. The existing one has over 350 posts at this point and has become perhaps long enough. Let it grow or start a new one? Your thoughts on that are welcome. Kuro had an interesting suggestion I filed away and just recalled: a separate thread for expats returning to the region. I'd ask for it to be pinned just below the Citizenship Thread. At first I thought that seemed overly complicated, but a Welcome Back thread might have the benefit of encouraging expat citizens to rejoin the forum and contribute to the region. Kind of a red carpet. I would like to know if you think that might be a good idea. Lastly, there will be a public thread posted in Conclave in the first 10 days of January for nominations and then voting on the next Viceroy. My term is up around the middle of the month. Anyone considering the post can feel free to PM me on what this office involves. |

Oh perfect. Such smartypants, our Admin team. Teh Nu Yeer is now retranslated into El Farto Dayo by the forum. Somebody's got too much time on their hands... |

It didn't really seem like you to label the El Farto Dayo as such, as I was wondering what was up with that. ![]() I am going to have to concur with all of your suggestions, they seem like great ideas to me. I especially like the "Welcome Back" thread idea, I know there are many people who over the years have left, and then come back however long later again. I would suggest perhaps having a condensed TEP history at the beginning of that thread with dates beside major changes (new delegates, major events happening, major laws being passed, whatever) so that people can see at a glance what has gone on since they were here last. Of course you have got to know that I am NOT looking forward to voting someone else in to fill your position, right? You have done an absolutely incredible job here, Barb, and come January there is going to be someone shaking in their boots at the idea of living up to the standard you have held. Thanks so much for your work so far, I look forward to he remaining month. Edit: What the heck?? I didn't think changing words as I write them was possible! All cower in respect towards the almighty Admin team. And all shall now also say "Teh Nu Yeer".

This is why I love Loop! You never know what you are going to get and I think it adds a cute level of WTF and unexpected playfulness that we need! ![]() As for these ideas, I must agree with them all. I think the idea of the welcome thread is a really good idea and being that I archived over half of TEP's RP, it's obvious I'm a fan of archiving that which is not active and serves only to exist as clutter. Clutter is so offputting. It's deterring for anyone to have to sift through pages and pages of threads. There is a need for consolidation and as well as sometimes a need for differentiation. I believe that it is more necessary to have yearly citizenship threads than one lump one. Easier to go back and search in many ways. ![]() |
