Iskoliyey: Reparations Are in Order for Allegheny
Reporting from the V3 Network in Vekaiyu, Ankya Ilusi

Eldura - Ankyela Iskoliyey and her newly-formed Vekaiyun Conservative Party has wasted no time in taking a crucial stance on what has been a rather sensitive issue that occurred the 2010 Vekaiyun Civil War: The Great Tragedy in Iruk, where Alleghenian helicopters intercepted a Maxist-controlled military installation in Iruk and mistakenly (and later proven unknowingly by the newly-formed Vekaiyun government) struck an underground storage compound containing the deadly suvavki agent responsible for precisely-organized polymerization processes. The accident resulted in the deaths of some four million Vekaiyun citizens.

"The fact that the Alleghenian government has been mum on any sort of reparations with respect to the people of Iruk is completely unacceptable," she added as she addressed the floor of the Ileskari today. "I've read the document as I'm sure most of you have. The document does not address the previous foreknowledge of their government with respect to the chemical stored near those installations. Nor does it address the fact that other targets were considered yet were not pursued. Much new evidence has been revealed, but has not been considered for investigation. We cannot, indeed will not, avoid this any further. Now that we've had time reflect on the matter at hand and gather more information, I suggest we re-open this investigation and arrive at airtight conclusions."

She later addressed her fellow party members while having the floor, holding up a report on the seven-year interactions with Allegheny and Vekaiyu proper. Dubbed 'The Pittsburgh Report' after the nation's capitol city, the report seems to contain most documented interactions between the two states during and after the Civil War. "We bailed their government out after their campaign in Tasselvalta backfired, and resettled their countrymen in Isklevyu when their territory was partially annexed by Packilvania. If new findings suggest misconduct in any degree, we must act accordingly."

Breaking: Premier Levinile Shares Communion with Another Individual
Reporting from the V3 Network in Vekaiyu, Ankya Ilusi

Eldura - In what has become a rather eventful 2017, Premier Ikrisia Levinile was identified as having shared communion with another individual. Vekaiyun custom dictates that those engaged in "serious relationships" are to partake in communion together so that the relationship remains blessed. To outside cultures, this is the equivalent of a pre-engagement - below an engagement, but certainly dictates that the two are planning on advancing. That is, the Premier of Vekaiyu has taken a liking to another individual, and the nation wants to know who it could be.

The Premier has repelled advances from King Samuil of Vulshain, as well as willing lords from abroad and the defuct royal family of Vekaiyu. It is rumored she has also quashed hopeful Vekaiyun officers within the government, but such rumors have been veiled for quite some time. For a time, it was strongly believed that the Premier would simply remain alone, especially as the duties of the Vekaiyun Premier are understandably demanding.

Yet, on the morning of January 8th, Premier Ikrisia Levinile approached the altar with another individual while attending mass at Ikleskio sen Bioria Kamitoristri (Cathedral of Seven Sacraments) in Eldura. The individual, who wore a suit of black with a white tie and white suspenders, was revealed by V3 News Services to be Yensey Nekuslovi, a chemist from Provinsk. While Nekuslovi is an unknown in the scope of Vekaiyun power, he was present at the First Vilines Charity Auction in Provinsk as an honored guest for raising a large sum of money dedicated to the citizens of Vilines following a terrorist attack in 2015. Perhaps the Premier took a liking to his philanthropic achievements? Or, perhaps there is something else going on entirely?

Nekuslovi, a graduate from Provinsk Technologies and Arts in 2003, obtained a PhD in Chemistry from the same school in 2010 while working for a sterilization company in Provinsk. His most recent work includes a recently-filed patent on a polyethylene shield designed to absorb different types of radiation through what is referred to as the "self-deuterization" of protons.

Interestingly enough, he had met the premier in 2003 while she was in entry-year college and he was entering his final year of undergraduate work. While it is uncertain if the two exchanged pleasantries, the two were on different underwater hockey teams, and a coed friendly resulted in Eldura University defeating Provinsk Technologies and Arts by a score of 11-3.

Naturally, V3 News Services will provide updates on this individual and important interactions he has with the Premier as they apparently look to forward their relationship.

Premier Levinile Calls Off Red Hands Sentence
Reporting from the V3 Network in Vekaiyu, Ankya Ilusi

In an unprecedented move, the sentencing of convicted murderer Jelenko Strovoyilve has been kicked up from the low courts of Iskelvyu, to the Premier of Iskleyvu, Aksynia Iluviyeri, and, finally, to the Premier of Vekaiyu, Ikrisia Levinile. While this may seem like a mere footnote in the goings-on in the Vekaiyun Union, the nuances speak volumes to the current state of the conglomeration of vulpine-dominant states.

First, one must consider the context. Iskleyvu is, by all accounts, is still transitioning to a more centralized government after the territory was incorporated into a Vekaiyun satellite state in 2014. Consequently, many prior practices of the feudal justice system remain intact despite the formation of a centralized court system. Among such "outdated" practices include the use of formally retired vulpine torture methods. One such method, referred to as "Red Hands" is a particularly gruesome method of torture which includes cutting the skin from the muscle just above the wrists and attaching clamping systems to the torn flesh. The skin would then be pulled from the hand either through mechanical means, executioners, or horses, and the resulting skin would be pulled from the hands, starting at the forearms, then pulling from the wrists, to the palms, then the fingers, until the resulting "gloves" tore at the cuticles. The spectacle was considered a success if the skin of the hands did not tear until once the fingernails were eclipsed. The exposed, skinless hands are then dragged into manure so that infection is imminent. This results in a slow and often torturous death for the offender.

Such methods of torture were formally banned by Selvala McEva in 2004, but a documented case had not occurred in Vekaiyu since 1967. At any rate, feudal courts concluded the sentence, which was then transferred to the Low Courts of Iskelyvu. When these courts deferred, Isklevyu Premier Aksynia Iluviyeri was asked to rule. When the former military officer did not formally issue a ruling in the required fourteen day period, the matter was expected to either pass or be kicked up to the upper echelons of the Vekaiyun Union.

While historically this meant the union would issue a statement or a ruling, the matter was handled unilaterally by Vekaiyun Premier Ikrisia Levinile, who upheld the ban of her predecessor, but went one step further by adding that, "the practice of Red Handing is to be herewith prohibited throughout the Vekaiyun Union and dependencies thereof."

As a consequence, Aksynia Iluviyeri has ordered Jelenko Strovoyilve to be put to death via hanging, a death penalty still widely practiced in ever union member nation.

Perhaps this is a minor footnote into the goings-on in the Vekaiyun Union. But it does seem to point toward a more merciful approach to an ancient tradition within the vulpine world. But, perhaps more importantly, this indicates a different dynamic in the Vekaiyun Union itself. Premier Levinile, and not the Union, has ruled on a particular qualm within the union. Does this indicate a gradual increase of power for the Vekaiyun Premier, something that was outside of the intents of this union, or does it instead indicate a schism for this particular punishment? Time will tell, but it will certainly be interesting to witness the workings of this Union and the actions therein as time marches on.
