The delegate wishes to nominate Southern Yugoslavia to become an arbiter of The East Pacific, pending the approval of the legislative body of The East Pacific, The Magisterium.

I'd like to request a recall of any currently serving as an Arbiter. Is there a list somewhere? Thanks.

Second post Here

Thanks. I see it, now. That was kinda confusing, there for a second. I'm glad I found a 2011 in there, lol.

EDIT: So, according to the list, we currently have five standing Arbiters. The Delegate is nominating a sixth. I'd like to see a seventh nominated, in order to maintain an odd number.

As the former Viceroy, please allow me to stick my nose in and formally announce the election of Viceroy Kurogasa, who shall represent Conclave here in the future per Concordat.

Historically Conclave has often had an even number of Arbiters due to leave of absence, recusal, and resignations. Conclave's Standing Orders require an odd number of active Arbiters when convened for consideration of matters within its role - and an internal mechanism for creating that odd number at all times.

It hasn't always been possible to have seven Arbiters or an odd number listed as serving. The Delegate determines who and when Arbiter nominees are presented to Magisterium for consideration. Magisterium determines whether or not to approve them and how long it takes for that to happen. Conclave relies on the cooperation of the other two branches of government.

I second it. Um...I guess we can start voting now, since I'm charge in the Magisterium now, I think. Barb, a little help here!

Yes, you are. With FPS's resignation, the Pro Tempore assumes responsibilities of the Provost. You may request the admin team to change your status to Provost. FPS should be removed as Provost too.

I'm definitely not trying to tell you how to go about things, but it might be best to inform the remaining Magisters when a vote occurs so we don't have to have this nomination fail on account of an absence of voters.

Well, as I'm the only Magister who's been online, I'm going to vote in approval of Southern Yugoslavia's nomination to Arbiter.

So,

AYE.

If we don't hear from anyone else, I move that Southern Yugoslavia becomes Arbiter by one vote.

Can't do that. You need a majority of the Magisters, which is 3/4

I approve the motion. And I want to say congratulations to our new Magisters for being elected. Also, thank you for being so gung-ho in getting this done.

Since we have a few ayes already, I feel that there are enough votes to approve this nomination. What say the rest of you?

I actually can't tell if you finished this under the 11th Magisterium so we may as well do the vote over. A simple majority is required, not 3/4 Todd.

actually, I can't find anything on how many of us have to vote yes... The concordat only says what we need to remove an Aibiter, 3/4... I looked through the archives as well...

Article B, Section 9 says a simple majority is required to instate an Arbiter.

I believe if Vulshain (as the outgoing Provost who presided over that vote) confirms officially posts that the vote has concluded then it is good enough. In the 10th Magisterium they had 4 Magisters at the time this vote occurred and 3 voted AYE with one Abstention, that constitutes a simple majority.

We need a formal vote though, we can't just fake say 'Aye'. We need to wait for a Provost to be elected and we need to wait for Vulshain to start elections for that.

I just mean that we have no Provost and therefore any votes prior to this point were invalid, at least for the current Magisterium.

Well, since I've been here the longest, I hope y'all don't mind if I'm Provost.

I forgot that some of these votes were made prior to our recent Magisterium (which would be y'all). Thus, a recount is no problem.

So, start voting then!
