I can't do this anymore.
For a long time, I've kept my thoughts to myself.
We all do.
All of us here in this establishment.
This institution.
We do it for the greater good of the whole nation.
We do things that others would consider abhorrent.
For the greater good.
We do things behind the shadows when things should be open and transparent.
For the greater good.
We violate others rights and freedoms.
To protect our own.
And for the greater good.
I have given away my own freedom to this organisation.
For the greater good.
I have even given away my own name.
For the greater good.
Or is it really?
I'm tired of having to live a total lie.
Things have been rapidly going downhill.
There are wheels within wheels and fires within fires.
As Arthur Miller once wrote.
And it would seem we are our own worst enemy.

I don't know why I'm even putting this down on paper as no one else will likely ever read it.
And if my superiors find this journal they will most likely have me disciplined for gross misconduct.
I guess I am trying to assuage the guilt in my own concious.
I guess I'm surprised I have one left as I've assassinated leaders.
I've made great nations and empires fall.
I've even committed wide scale fraud.
All with permission from the highest echelons of my Government.
And all in the name of the so-called "Greater Good".
And yet today, when I heard from my superiors that some of my fellow operatives, in another time and place I would've called them "friends", have committed a gross act of misconduct and negligence, bringing us into disrepute.
The Central Government is now very concerned about us.
The Prime Minister is personally apoplectic about the situation.
I'm personally upset that people who I respected and who respected me have decided to do such a terrible thing and betray the uniform and the cause they have sacrificed all to work for and protect.
Well...I can't take this anymore.
I am now doubting my own motivations within this part of the military.
We are practitioners of a dark art.
And I'm not even sure if it is worth it anymore.
But I know this much.
I will bring those who betrayed me and my cause to justice.
One way or another.
I will either bring them in.
Or take them OUT.

So. I did it. I killed who you could consider to be a friend
He betrayed me so I decided there was only one option.
Actually, my superiors accepted that this man was dangerous and hence gave permission for him to be terminated with extreme prejudice.
However, I fear that I may have made the wrong choice and made it too personal and lost the ability to only take cold, rational decisions.
And yet, my hatred of what he has done still runs deep within me.
And I cannot shake off the feeling that he cannot be allowed to run any further.

An off-grid contact from the East Malaysian intelligence community led me to the guys.
The contact gave me a tip off including a spy drone shot and several traced phone calls.
Commander C initially advised that I should avoid getting too involved and send a different SID field operative out to the area.
I chose to disregard his advice and deal with the problem of the rogue agents myself.
I fear though the Commander may have been right.
I have not killed anyone in active duty for several years.
Not directly anyway.
And now, it has come to this.
Agent Alpha-219 was a good friend damn it!
I wanted to convince him what he was doing was wrong.
But he tried to kill innocent hostages.
Maybe not-so-innocent given one of them works for that damned mining company with no morals.
But to go around kidnapping foreigners with no particular involvement?
Inexcusable!
He was once the greatest mentor and philosopher amongst us.
He taught me all I know.
He taught me all about defending the nation regardless of cost.
Now he has pushed me to challenge him and my own beliefs.
I am unsure what to believe any more.

Now I have two rogue agents somewhere in Rilanon.
I will speak to my contacts later tonight to seek them out.
On terminating Alpha-219 I realise I missed my chance to find out why he did what he did.
Perhaps I was premature with terminating them after all.
Maybe capturing the remaining two agents alive will give me some idea of what is going on.
Or will it just leave me more confused than ever.
I must know.

Frm; Agent Omega-01
Sub; ORL 2012-2098 / 2012-2097 Update
To; *WWT<05.67.89.008>AGC*

This is an update (from 2012-2097) on the situation I was monitoring from Section 9 (DISOC) on the rouge S9 agents that Operative Kokoro has been chasing down. Per AGC Directive and my authority as senior agent in this region, I have shared perhaps vital information to her investigation.

While it is not standard AGC Directive, I did follow standard operational protocol in the matter. Mu-01 and Eta-01 were dispatched to collected telecommunication material and, what will appear to be photographs taken from a drone.

After the materials were collected, I delivered the information directly to Operative Kokoro in the normal indirect way. As far as she knows it is from an off-grid East Malaysian intelligence community contact, which is a half-truth.

I did give her the secured line if perhaps she required more information since it is a matter of East Malaysian security also being East Malaysian interest are connected to this, indirectly, but that's our business (see Agent Mu-01 2012-014 report). She will likely try to trace the phone, it should not be a concern; I linked it to her information -- I hope she does see the humor in that.

In conclusion:

The situation seems to be contained: no identities compromised. But I will keep an eye on Operative Kokoro and the situation. It is not uncommon for agents to go rouge but typically not more than one at the same time. If the situation changes I will alert AGC.

Some investigators from the internal affairs boys visited the Rilanon field office today.
A couple of rather stern looking gentlemen from the Military Internal Directorate.
They spent 8 hours doing little except scream at us for not vetting our staff correctly.
Operative Sakaki became very upset at them.
I had to hold her back and have her relieved temporarily before her blood pressure got too high.
I personally did not like the attitude of the MID investigators but then no one does in the military.
I decided to try looking into the background of the agents further.
I discovered some irregular transactions in one of the agents bank accounts.
I wasn't sure where the source of the money was so I asked some colleagues back home to look into them.
They are currently using Project POST OFFICE at HQ to determine what has been going on.
Initial findings are worrying.
They have also picked up a spike in encrypted traffic leaving Rilanon.
We aren't sure where the destination is yet or even the data's contents.
We'll find out in a couple of days.
I'm personally exhausted today thanks to those MID idiots.
I really need a long drink.

I decided to trace the phone on my East Malaysian contact just to see if he can be trusted.
The only info I got was a record to myself.
Very funny, dude.

OOC: The text is written in darker pen, as if leaned on heavily into the page.
Further investigation by the HUMINT and MASINT boys and girls at the base back home tells me it seems to be a standard loopback false record.
I asked them not to pursue the matter or the EM contact any further.
He'll have covered his tracks if he knew what he was doing.
I would've done the same thing if it was me.
Guess it is the oldest joke in the book amongst us intelligence spooks.
I decided to cover my own tracks and had the Command Section at DISOC destroy all evidence of my current and previous codenames just in case.
Although it will probably not stop the most determined person to keep tabs on me.

Speaking of which.
Today I found another bug in the hotel room I'm using.
Traced it to a Nahris mole masquerading as a Syrener housekeeping staff member.
Didn't kill him immediately but I did knock him out and have him questioned by the TACOPS agents with me.
He wasn't particularly cooperative until we threatened to expose him to the authorities.
However we had to terminate him the moment we realised he may have jeopardised our own operation to track down our own rogue agents as well as our own safety.
It sounds fancy but what that really means is that he sent a text message from his cellphone and threatened us with a bomb hidden in his jacket.
He didn't last long and no one else was hurt.
SIGINT at POST OFFICE noted a spike in comms traffic from the Nahrin Union.
I'll have a deciphered version of their recent comms data soon.

Also the MID boys were back.
They were very upset at our lack of transparency.
We pointed out to them that due to the nature of the operation we can't afford to be honest at the moment.
Even with their promises of confidentiality.
Operative Otoko was left pretty shaken and upset by their questioning.
Mostly because it related to many personal topics and she did not like her loyalty to the state questioned in such a disturbing manner.
I wasn't sure about it either and used Commander C's authority to dismiss the MID agents under a Code 7 order.
They were quite angry at that but they couldn't do anything about it and they left promptly, warning they will get a Code 8 order to override the Code 7.
However they should know as well as I do that Code 8s can only be issued by the Home Secretary himself.
And he won't issue one just because we are being obstructive.
Especially when we are chasing down dangerous individuals.

I managed to get another lead on those rogue operatives.
A CCTV camera in Rilanon picked up two gentlemen matching their description.
We have issued a wanted poster to be distributed to all nations immediately.
As far as we are concerned, they are criminals and possible kidnappers.
They won't get far.
Hopefully they will give up before I have to make them give up.
