Better not create 2nd class citizens. But how about allowing members to become citizens only 1 week afer registration. This way, if someone try to join us only to change the outcome of a single voting, it´ll already have passed by the time he/she is allowed to vote.
Perhaps, then Activity minimum with a minimum 1 week trial period in which a new register must show they are active, aka, not signing in to just make a log in time.
I’d much rather go with just the WA member thing…it makes it much harder to rig
I like something that’s written in the forum’s header along with the “8 noble truths”…
“Liberty! Fraternity! Equality! and most of all, Dignity!”
I’m completely against creating a group of “2nd class citizens”, or “normal citizens and elite citizens”, or whatever you would call it…I find it offensive, every citizen has the right to vote in the WA…and as far as I know, we are all equals in TEP…
that being said…I like Drakkengard’s second idea, Members only being able to be citizens after ratifying the concordat and after a period of a week…and only if during that week they posted, at least twice or something…
There obviously isn’t an easy fix ![]()
-what if there really aren’t any active topics that the person is interested in? things also can be in queue for a week, so vote riggers just have to plan ahead
2 weeks and 3 or more post count to become citizens then. Because given that takes at least 2 posts to say hi and ratify the concordat, i think that someone who can´t find anything interesting here to post at least only once more in 2 weeks, isn´t interested in tep at all.
Drakkengard has a valid point. Hell, even with my horrible posting record I had 3 posts before my citizenship was approved if i recall correctly. and I’m a bloody lurker by nature.
I think that drak’s idea is also a good one. It can help us weed out true members who want to stay, frauds, and people who post once and never come back again.
A pretty severe solution could be to make the Magisterium vote on WA resolutions D:

I don’t think that’s feasible. While it would give the Magisterium more to do, which would be good, it would ruin the whole intent of the voting: it would no longer be a ‘complete’ representation of those in the region.
Here’s my proposed solution:
- Mask the forum so only ‘citizens’ can vote in the polls. That way, the votes can still be private, as only citizens would be able to vote.
- Withhold citizen applications until the following WA vote has passed. That would prevent discrepancies.
Just a suggestion, lol.
I still think that 2 weeks and 3 posts isn´t asking too much to give citizenship, but i agree with the idea of masking the voting forum to keep the votes private.
I’d still much rather see open voting…there isn’t much to hide ![]()
Instead of all this criteria for citizenship and hoops for new member to jump through that will only bore new members away from the region how about this:
List of active citizens is kept updated and citizenship can be suspended for inactivity by the magisterium on a fortnightly basis (reviewed fortnightly). Give the Magisterium an extra job which can only be good and doesn’t make it difficult for new members who just want to look around before getting involved.
If people are that keen on influencing our vote that they’ll stick around and remain active to keep citizenship then it can only help our community!
This would have to go hand in hand with post voting though so people don’t just log in to their accounts for votes and nothing else.
Its more work, but its work that the Magisterium could do with right now! People wouldn’t have their citizenship revoked, only a suspended citizenship (different user group that doesn’t have posting rights in the WA forum or elections) that could be regained upon their return.
the problem isn’t the people that stay in TEP after the resolutions…the problem is the people that join just to vote once and never come back…
