Well, Greeks, things have clearly taken a turn for the worse…
Let’s start in Syracuse. The Syracuse navy, which sailed back to Syracuse after not being able to pass through the storms near Ithaca, made it back to the city. The remainder of the Ithacan navy was there, which was no match for all the Syracuse ships. The blockade of the port of Syracuse is over! The remnants of the Ithacan force have retreated to their base, probably to pick up their supplies and head back home. Some of the separated Syracuse navy has been allowed entrance to Corinth, where they are restocking in friendly waters.
Let’s move to Elis. Besides listening to the cries of the Chimera, which are loud but it appears to be on Mt. Olympus and not doing anything, something strange has happened. Many of the women of Elis have given birth, and their offspring look like they are Satyrs. Well then! Also, the mayor of Elis’ new children have gone missing, and the family is distraught.
Over in Sparta, the security forces there have been looking for signs of involvement of Pan in their area. They are interrogating the women, hoping the women will provide them with information. No luck yet, though.
Into Argos we go. King Perseus of Argos and Cadmus of Thebes have set sail! Their destination? West. Perseus looks like he went of his own fruition, and he carries his shield and the head of the Gorgon, Medusa, with him.
Up north into Corinth. The forces of Corinth have moved out of their city stronghold to bolster Pan’s forces out there. The land bridge has been muddied and made inaccessible, and the Spartan forces have been bolstered by Heracles’ army returning from Argos. The Corinth forces move press forward to push the Spartans back, when suddenly a flood comes in! The Spartans are pushed away by the rushing water, allowing Corinth some wiggle room to try and move supplies through the mud pit. Suddenly a woman gets stuck in the mud there. It’s Atlanta! Pan has chased her from Athens, where she was snooping on Theseus, Heracles, and Orpheus as they began to prepare to go on their journey. A woman stuck in the mud, how inconvenient, especially when Pan is around. Uh oh…
I believe I know where this flood came from. Poseidon rages in Atlantis. “CADMUS! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? NEPTUNE’S BEARD MAN! I’LL PUT A STOP TO THIS INSOLENCE!” Poseidon summons a flood off the coast of Eritrea, pushing the Corinthian and Rhodes navies farther inland, to the port of Thebes! The naval commanders are thinking they will find the vessels of Thebes, but instead these are docked in the port, and catapults are loaded with large rocks and fire upon the navies. The navies took a big hit from the attack before they could retreat out of the port and farther out towards Eritrea. The good news for Bellerophon and Corinth is that not all their vessels were pushed west. Some of the Corinthian navy was out in open waters, hunting after straggling Eritrean ships. These have been destroyed, so besides some final straggling vessels, the ships in the Thebes port, and the vessels of Corinth that Eritrea could commandeer, the Eritrean navy has been devastated! But, so has the Rhodes and Corinth navy. The naval strength will be updated to reflect this.
Before moving on to what is going on in Eritrea, I wanted to tell you about something I noticed earlier. Many smiths have been seen moving tons of iron ore from places in Greece towards Mt. Olympus. People have also been seen putting up large metal stakes in the ground in locations around Greece. I’m not entirely sure what these are being used, or will be used, for.
Alright, onto Eritrea. In what would likely be considered the last resort by Hades, he personally donned his invisible helmet, took his guard hound Cerberus on a leash, and “walked” it through the Underworld to appear right by the citadel walls of Eritrea! With a quick smack on its heinie, he sent it vaulting over the citadel walls, right into the main square where the Corinth army was located! This dog, already agitated enough for some reason, tore into the soldiers, its heads mauling them. Agamemnon moved to evacuate the soldiers and whatever citizens of Eritrea remained in the city, when Cerberus grabbed him and crushed him to death. Agamemnon has been killed!
In the process of mauling people, Cerberus accidentally knocked over part of a citadel wall. Looking back and seeing more humans, he went after them! The soldiers and civilians of Eritrea were bottlenecked in the citadel, and it was utter chaos. Everyone was trying to escape the city as quickly as possible, soldiers forgot about fighting each other, and everyone made a beeline out of the city. Fires burned, buildings were demolished, people died from the dog. It’s almost all rubble, and Eritrea has been basically destroyed! The soldiers of Corinth move their wounded south to the uppermost part of the land bridge, and the remaining people of Eritrea move out towards the port of Eritrea, which has not been touched and still contains the commandeered ships.
A horseman rides his chariot up to Corinth. He is dressed in glorious armor, and accompanied with him are several soldiers that are equally decked out in armor. “Lord Bellerophon, you have done a magnificent deed, being able to destroy the Eritrean navy so handily! You must be invulnerable, just like I am! My Myrmidons and I are here to assist you in this war!” If you have not guessed it already, the mighty warrior Achilles has appeared! Achilles is an invulnerable hero, and he possesses the fierce Myrmidon warriors.
A frail man hobbles up to the city boundaries of Eritrea, situated by the port. Though his body is weak, you can tell he possesses a crisp and active mind. “Lord Hades, I have observed the destruction you have caused onto Eritrea, and find that, frankly, your decision to release Cerberus was one that should never have been made. I believe if I had been here before, we could have come up with some incredible material to defend Eritrea. But, I digress, I am here now, and though he is a feeble old man, you will find that the mind of Daedalus is a mind worthy to have on your side.” The famed inventor Daedalus has appeared to Hades! Daedalus can create fantastic weapons and crafts, and is an asset to a strategic mind.
Finally, a ship arrives into the port of Eritrea. Normally the hostile navies would sink it, but strangely enough, the woman at the bow was too fine a specimen to target, so the men of Corinth and Rhodes decided to let the ship pass. The ship docks, and out walks the lady Helen of Troy! "Lord Hades, I feel your plight. To have to witness the destruction of a beautiful city, it is not one that should be cursed upon anyone. I will be here, to comfort you, to assist you in your struggle. What you need from me will be done. Helen has sworn loyalty to Hades! Helen is the most beautiful woman in Greece. Men will not attack her, but will fight over her. (OOC: think of her like a magnet; she will attract people to her, but they will not physically harm her. If they are hostile to each other, then it is likely they will fight in Helen’s presence)
I will update the stats page, and get to the map at a later point.
Happy Moves, Greek Gods and Heroes!
