“We’re here with new findings from the biological front: a chemical firm based out of Aura has developed an oil-eating bacterium, capable of cleaning up oceanic oil spills. We’ll have more on the economic effects of this breakthrough, but first here’s Sammy at the Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory, with Professor Satinder Kaur Brar, to explain the science.”

“Doctor Brar, what can you tell us?”

“See, the degradation of hydrocarbons using the crude enzyme extract is really encouraging, and reached over 80% for various compounds…”

“A Portside father has been hailed a hero after he came rushing to rescue his daughter from a man who allegedly tried to abduct her, dragging her away from a park.”

“The three year old and her father are unharmed, but the man suffered moderate injuries after the short melee. More on this, after a look at the weather. Jim, what are we looking at this weekend.”

“Yeah, we’re looking at cooler temperatures and clouds…”

“Lots of excitement today for the launch of the ESV Reliant! The ship took off from Stonewall Point at 3:30 in the afternoon, with no problems during the ascent or docking procedure. The ship is expected to rendezvous with the International Spacelab early tomorrow morning.”

“Onboard were two 6-ton Life Support modules, a set of 12 anti-debris drones, and one foreign crewmember who will reside on the new station. It’s flight plan also includes a two-week stay at Autumn Station, to resupply and refresh crew there. We’ll bring you word on it’s safe arrival at the ISL as soon as it comes in.”

“In other news, a local man is saying his phone was stolen and taken to a drug den in Vekaiyu. How he found it, and why he says it happened, after this break…”

“…We’re seeing more and more immigrants from now-defunct nation Quartz Fern Coast after leader Truman Caffen mysteriously disappeared. Local homeless shelters are accommodating the more impoverished travelers, while still more rent apartments in South Aura under visa agreements signed with our southern neighbor. Lawmakers are slow to react on this matter, opting to develop policies behind closed doors for the time being, but we have this clip from president Nimona Poole, earlier today.”

“We can’t turn a blind eye to these people, it’s our duty and our nature to offer these people a home within our nation.”

“Talks are reportedly underway with Portside mayor Halle Valerie to expand the municipality southward to accommodate two new arcologies for the immigrants. We’ll keep you up to date as the story develops.”

“Also here at home, the ESV Belladonna launched from Stonewall point today, marking the ECSEA’s 250th reusable craft launch. The ESV Reliant is expected to rendezvous safely with SpaceLab tonight, we’ll have you updated as soon as it does…”

“We’re back now, with breaking news from the Undine: one of, if not the most luxurious casino on the Aura skyline. Hackers reportedly lifted secure ‘random generation seeds,’ used in random chance machines to simulate probability, allowing the group to win almost six million dollars without losses using the ‘high-stakes’ slot machines before fleeing the city in an unmarked red van. If you see a vehicle with a license plate reading [EXC109V], call authorities immediately. A reward is posted for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.”

"In other news, noted local artist Frasier Blake has died. Known for minimalist graffiti, the forty-six year old passed away from an undisclosed illness…

“Our last story tonight: a legal victory. Here’s Miranda Ordinio, with more.”

“After 2011’s stunning court drama Emberwood Coast v. P. Cenk, in which a man was released under mistrial after being convicted of sexually assault and homicide of a minor, legislators have removed statutes of limitations on sex crimes. The vote passed with higher than average 91% ayes, due in part to unanimous popular support and continual campaigns on the part of First Lady Coraline Poole. I met with Representative Gerald Porter of Aura’s 997th district just after the vote.”

“…I only hope that this will deter any future crimes from occurring, and give us the tools to prosecute those who would commit such heinous acts, especially on our children. This was a real win for Emberwood Coast.”

“You can weigh in at home, tell us how far you think statute of limitation protections should extend, if at all. Go to www.CNC.news.ec to vote in our online poll…”

“Chief Arbiter Sarah W. Norman surprised many today by showing up to a hearing with a broken leg. Many experts expected her to sit out the ruling, leading to a power shift on the court towards national-socialist interests. Her presence allowed a bill barring immigration settlement in Miriam county to be struck down 4-3, marking the seventh such law to be defeated after coming out of that locale. Several activists believe the city is a gathering point for anti-immigrant groups in the country, leading to many nationalist and unilateral-interests parties to establish and campaign in the area. From president Poole earlier today:”

“None of what we stand for allows us to bar people from living in our nation, even and especially if they’ve come from another country.”

“More on that later, but for now sport news with Yvonne, Yiv what are we seeing this season with…”[edit_reason]I am incapable of spelling the word “by”[/edit_reason]

“Next up tonight: Land grab? In an unprecedented move, lawmakers are considering a bill that would annex thirty-three hundred square kilometers of southern land from what used to be Quartz Fern Coast. President Poole is expected to veto the bill. With more analysis, I’ve got Hunter Pegour Jr., our chief political correspondent. Hunter?”

“Thank you for having me. The problem, in the administration’s eyes is sovereignty. Many lawmakers think it comes down to logistics and development of abandoned land, but Emberwood Coast has remained with its original borders since it’s foundation in 1970. That kind of stability is likely, in Nimona Poole’s mind, lending a lot of credence to Emberwood’s position both as a neutral meeting ground and as an unbiased broker for multilateral trade negotiations. While it’s unclear how either of those considerations will stack up against a few thousand kilometers of land, experts agree the bill is not likely to make it past the president’s desk. We’ll see, though.”

“Always a pleasure to have you on the show. Next, we’ll see how scientists have discovered a way to make a paper-thin solar panel from a very humble teacher: a blade of grass. More after the break…”

“A truck driver entering the north checkpoint in Rockport was pulled over for a broken taillight, when tested by officers the driver blew four times the legal limit. His load? Several dozen tonnes of kerosene bound for Stonewall Point. Experts are heralding this as cause to increase penalties for impaired driving, while civil rights activists protest on the grounds that further tests and consequences infringe on a person’s right to select their own purchases.”

“On to the weather tonight, we have a chilly one coming up, as we move towards the middle of fall…”

“An ice storm is being blamed for power outages in western Emberwood. Almost a half million citizens are left without lights currently, and are not expected to see electricity back on until late afternoon tomorrow. An investigation is still ongoing to ensure no foul play was involved.”

“Next, we’ll tell you why experts are expecting an almost 2% interest rate hike from South Hill’s new administration, and how it affects your wallet, after this break…”

“A health scare tonight as former president Chance Syng was rushed to the hospital early this morning. Their condition is listed as stable at this time, but the family has yet to comment further on the reason for the hospitalization. They are expected to make a full recovery, and we’ll have more information as soon as it’s available.”

“Next up, our investigation into a local after-school day care turned up something shocking. The full story, after this…”

“New tonight: Robots on the battlefield. The West End Robotics Laboratory and the University of Portside are developing materials that can be 3D printed based on the flexibility and nimbleness of invertebrates such as a squid, according to an WERL press release. The material that they’ve used in their testing will bend in any direction when supplied with electricity. We have this clip from earlier today, with professor Amicoo McAlpine of the University of Portside.”

“In the initial phase of the project, our team began by investigating new methods for emulating the locomotion of invertebrates. That helped our researchers learn how to apply the natural movement of invertebrates like squids to reproduce the nimble motions of the aquatic counterpart.”

“Interesting stuff Andrew, now let’s move over to weather. I hear we’re looking at a lot of rain tonight and tomorrow?”

“The 5S task group of the NCSA has been given a ‘reboot’, signaling a shift of devoted resources off of submaritime exploration and towards prevention of person trafficking. The division will now be better equipped to put an end to continental slavery trade.”

“The move comes after months of steady campaigning on the part of the president. C-Sec director Harriet Truman said of the news today,‘I’m pleased to see a renewed focus on keeping all people equal and free. My agency will make you proud.’”

“Later tonight, we’ll go over the new tax forms you’ll be seeing if you own property: how to get those filled out, after the break.”

“A training exercise meant to simulate a mass power outage will take place next month at specific locales across Emberwood Coast. The exercise, known as Dark Sky, is scheduled to happen May 15-17 in Brown, Calulet, Daney, Fae Llau, West End, Outagamie and Montgomery divisions. The public should not be concerned by a greater presence of emergency responders, military personnel or drones during the exercise. The exercise is intended to test the abilities of emergency responders and private utilities to respond to a long-term power outage across the state. The exercise will involve an Patriot Energy facility in South Side district that will serve as an army training site. Said Maj. Gen. Piotyr Landing, adjutant general of South Point Defense Center,”

“Our emergency management community must be prepared to deal with the myriad of scenarios and challenges posed by a long-term mass power outage. By training together, we continue building meaningful relationships that leave us better positioned to respond to a real-world situation.”

“More than 2,000 people from federal, state, and municipal agencies will participate in the training exercise.”

“Elsewhere, we’re seeing a surge in flu cases. Let’s look at what health officials are doing to alleviate fears…”

“New tonight, an abandoned nuclear silo 210 kilometers south of Calcite The test site at Naranhai has been used for sixteen nuclear tests since 1996. After the last, in September, a series of aftershocks hit the site, which seismologists believe collapsed part of the mountain’s interior. On Saturday, Staynish reclaimation officials said the site posed a risk to any settlements nearby. The unannounced investigation came after abandonment of the site by Quartzian officials. The latest findings from the Morstaybishlian Nuclear Reclaimation Division (MNRD) is due to be published in Geophysical Research Letters, a journal of the Auroran International Geophysical Union, in the coming days. It concluded that after March’s investigation, there was a serious risk of near-vertical on-site collapse towards the nuclear test centre.”

The Naranhai site is situated in mountainous terrain in what was Quartz Fern Coast mid-east, and tests have taken place in a system of tunnels dug below Mount Elray. A one-page summary of the research on the MNRD website concluded: The possible occurrence of a collapse should deem the immediate area around Mount Naranhai not be settled near. The official report obtained by CNC says that the ‘chance of collapse in the test site calls for continued close monitoring of any leaks of radioactive materials.’"

“We’ll continue to monitor this situation from home, until then, let’s go to Jeremy with more details…”

“Some wild news out of Rockport today, evidence for the largest single incident of mass child sacrifice in the Auroran continent— and likely in world history—has been discovered on Emberwood’s northern coast, archaeologists tell International Geographic. More than 140 children and 200 young dogs appear to have been ritually sacrificed in an event that took place some 550 years ago on a wind-swept bluff overlooking the Southern Packilvanian Ocean, in the shadow of what was then the sprawling capital of the Strathepolic Civilization. Scientific investigations by the international, interdisciplinary team, led by Gabriel Prieto and John Verano of Rockport Community University, are ongoing. The work is supported by grants from the International Geographic Bioscience Fund.”

“While incidents of human sacrifice among the Strontic, Meyic, and Donna have been recorded in colonial-era Staynish chronicles and documented in modern scientific excavations, the discovery of a large-scale child sacrifice event in the little-known pre-Staynes Strathepolic civilization is unprecedented in Aurora—if not in the entire world. Preserved in dry sand for more than 500 years, more than a dozen children were revealed over the course of a day by archaeologists. The majority of the ritual victims were between eight and 12 years old when they died. Said Professor Pierto,”

“I, for one, never expected it, and I don’t think anyone else would have, either.”

“The researchers are in the process of submitting a report on scientific results of the discovery to a peer-reviewed, scientific journal.”

“In lighter news, we’re seeing guardian centers empty at never-before seen rates as child adoptions soar…”

“…competition between between Vision, Hackhard Pewpewlett Mobile and Microhard were forcing prices to drop on RAM, despite record demand for the memory. Starting the first calendar quarter of 2016 and through the third quarter of 2017, Hagens Berman (a legal group) alleges that the trio’s revenues from global DRAM sales more than doubled as a result of the production decrease and price-fixing scheme. Vision, HaPew and Microhard collectively controlled 96 percent of the worldwide DRAM market share as of the middle of 2017. When the Axdelian government announced an investigation into the matter in 2017, the “conduct changed abruptly,” according to the court filing. Said Hagens Berman managing partner Steve Berman,”

“What we’ve uncovered in the DRAM market is a classic antitrust, price-fixing scheme in which a small number of kingpin corporations hold the lion’s share of the market. Instead of playing by the rules, Vision, HaPew and Microhard chose to put consumers in a chokehold, wringing the market for more profit.”

“DRAM saw a 47 percent jump in price in 2017, the largest jump in 30 years. The class action applies to anyone in Emberwood who purchased a device using DRAM —including iPCs, iSlabs, and iCells —between July 1, 2016 and Feb. 1, 2018. Hagens Berman achieved a $300 million settlement for purchasers who had been forced to pay artificially high prices in a suit in 2006 against DRAM manufacturers. In the Investigation Department’s case, defendants were convicted for conspiring to fix prices of DRAM. Vision and Microhard pleaded guilty to the ALID’s charges and paid paid a collective $731 million in criminal fines, and served a collective 3,169 days of jail time.”

“Next up is the weather, we’re looking at colder days as winter approaches once again.”

“A City worker who posted fake photos of his colleague on porn websites after she refused to give him her number has been convicted of harassment. Davide Buccheri, 25, carried out the “malicious” crime while working at the investment management firm M&G. Buccheri created a gallery of the victim alongside edited pornographic pictures of other women between September 2016 and May 2017. He then told the woman’s bosses about the photos to discredit her. The pictures were uploaded to porn websites after being edited and cropped to make them look like the woman, the City of Aura 51st District Court heard.”

“Buccheri, originally from Weyrcliff, Dragonia, was convicted of one count of harassment. District Judge Richard Blake warned Buccheri that a custodial sentence was ‘almost inevitable’. He described him as ‘manipulative’ and said he had become ‘infatuated’ and ‘obsessed’ with his victim and ‘set about to destroy her’. Said the presiding judge, ‘You conducted a quite wicked, calculated campaign against this young woman. It is shameful that I have not heard in evidence one expression of regret from you about what this young woman suffered. She is going to have to live the rest of her professional life with the potential for ‘snickers by the water cooler’, or in the lift, as she goes by. She doesn’t deserve that; this young woman did absolutely nothing to bring about your disgraceful behaviour.’”

“Prosecutor Aimee Emby said Buccheri’s actions caused his victim ‘considerable distress and anxiety.’ She told us earlier today,”

“I hope this conviction provides the victim with some measure of comfort and gives other victims of harassment the confidence to come forward,”

“Buccheri will be sentenced on Tuesday, May 1st. Now, over to sports…”[edit_reason]i no do words good[/edit_reason]

“A CNC exclusive tonight, an interview with director Georgina Bennet, of the upcoming film Superluminal. The film promises a look into a future with starships, aliens, and a whole lot of explosions. Miss Bennet, what inspired you to take on this story?”

“Well, you see, this film is really a lot of who I am. I look forward into the future and see a world where all people are equal. I think film is an excellent vehicle to broadcast that, and I hope others will feel the same when they see my movie.”

“We can’t wait to see it. When will it be out in theaters?”

“May 18th.”

“You can see the full interview with Miss Bennet on our website…”

“The West End school superintendent charged Monday with defecating in public was caught in the act at the Holton Arms High School moonball field and track after surveillance was set up due to human feces being found quote, ‘on a daily basis,’ according to police. Thomas Tramaglini, 42, lives about 3 miles from Holton Arms High School in neighboring North Aura. He was running at the track on the athletic fields at 5:50 a.m. before he was arrested.”

“Track coaches and staff at Holton Arms High School told the district’s resource officer that they found human feces on or near the football field and track daily, West End police said in a statement Thursday. School employees began monitoring the area and on Monday police arrested Tramaglini at 5:50 a.m., according to Sgt. Theodore Sigismondi. Tramaglini is also charged with littering. He is due in municipal court in West End at 8:15 a.m. Monday to answer the charges.”

“Tramaglini has taken a paid leave of absence from his 127,504 kirib/year job in West End. Leave can only be unpaid if a person is indicted or faces tenure charged, the district said, citing municipal law. Tramaglini replaced Superintendent Scott Taylor who resigned in August 2015. Tramaglini previously served as Chief Academic Officer in Keansburg and also held positions in Aura 151 and Freehold District, outside Rockport.”

“In more serious news, tensions mount over still-incoming refugees from Quartz Fern Coast after the government suddenly collapsed two weeks ago…”
