I’d try to stop it on either red, green, or purple on the 2nd wheel (doesn’t matter which). My explanation:
You have two choices - (A) go for all yellow to earn 30 chips, or (B) go for all different to earn 10 chips.
(A) ALL YELLOW
2nd wheel: attempt to stop on yellow - 50% chance of getting yellow (as stated)
3rd wheel: stops automatically - 25% chance of getting yellow (one of four possibilities)
This leaves a 12.5% (50% x 25%) chance of earning 30 chips, but an overwhelming 87.5% chance of earning 0 chips.
(B) ALL DIFFERENT
2nd wheel: attempt to stop on red, green, or purple - 50% chance of getting colour you picked (as stated), but also 66.7% chance of getting a fine colour if that fails (collectively 83.3%)
3rd wheel: stops automatically - 50% chance of getting neither yellow nor the colour you got on the 2nd wheel (two of four possibilities)
This leaves a 41.7% (83.3% x 50%) chance of earning 10 chips, and 58.3% chance of earning 0 chips.
The odds are clearly so overwhelming in option A that it isn’t worth the risk of tripling your stake.
Good analysis, Llo, but you’re missing something. Happy hunting!
