Coronation of the new monarch of Vulshain

Zach almost towered over Samuil, standing at 6’1".

Zach shook Samuil’s hand, and the handshake was captured by the press.

“Welcome to Southern Yugoslavia, King Samuil. I hope your flight was pleasant. If you’ll come this way, we can continue on to the Presidential Palace.”

The leaders walked down the red carpet, and passed the saluting Marines. They both saluted back, and approached the motorcade. Zach opened the limo’s door for Samuil.

[OOC: So what, it’s a short post wanna fight about it? (P.S. You get a cookie if you get the reference.)]]

OOC: The reference is Family Guy. Now, where’s my cookie! BTW, I’m assuming Zach’s wife is in the limo, too.

IC:

After shaking his hand, Samuil along with his sister were led by Zach to the awaiting limo.

Smiling and nodding to the President, Samuil and Cecilia got into the limo, where the First Lady was waiting. After Samuil and Cecilia greeted his wife, Zach got into the limo as well. “We appreciate the warm welcome from you and your country, President Kreskov and First Lady Kreskov. Oh, I almost forgot. Let me introduce you to my older sister and Confederate Premier, Cecilia.”

“Hello, Mr. President and First Lady,” she said with a smile.

Continuing, Samuil said, “I am glad to be here, especially after the assassination attempt. But, that’s over now. I am looking forward to seeing the Presidential Palace, as well as improving relations between our nations.”

“Oh, First Lady Kreskov, this is a gift from me to you,” Cecilia said to Zach’s wife as the Vulshainian Confederate Premier handed her a book written in Lobonese. The book was titled Nicholas II: The Story of Russia’s Last Tsar. “I hope you will enjoy it.”

The motorcade began to drive away from the airport, heading towards the Presidential Palace.

[OOC: Throws cookie at Vulshain.]

Tania accepted the gift from Cecilia. “Thank you. I hope you enjoy your visit.” The motorcade began driving towards the Presidential Palace, covered by a hovering helicopter and multiple Republican Guard vehicles. Zach looked over at Samuil. “I’m sure you’ll want to begin the tour of our country as soon as possible, so we can begin it after the visit to the Presidential Palace.”

A few minutes passed, and the motorcade arrived at the Presidential Palace. Out front, camera crews were behind temporary barriers, and the Republican Guard waited out front in dress uniform. Zach opened the door of the limo, and the cameras began flashing and recording. Zach and Tania exited first, then waited to allow Samuil and Cecilia to exit. The Republican Guard led the group inside the Presidential Palace. The doors closed behind them, shutting out the reporters and photographers. Most of the Republican Guard remained outside, excluding the head of the Republican Guard, Colonel Stewart “Stu” Riskotov.

“Welcome back Mr. President and First Lady Kreskov.” Stu shook Zach’s hand, then walked to Samuil. “Welcome to Southern Yugoslavia, King Rainard. My Guardsmen and I are in charge of keeping you safe, so if you ever want to leave to explore the country after the main tour, just let me know and I can see about arranging something.”

After shaking the hand of the Republican Guard’s Presidential Division, Samuil replied in Lobonese, “Thank you. My sister and I would be honored to tour your country. But, first, let me give you my present.” He handed Zach a box containing an intricate handcrafted jeweled egg. When Zach opened the egg, it played the national anthem of Southern Yugoslavia. “I hope you like it.”

Samuil then added, “Now, let us get the negotations out of the way.”

((OOC: this is a collaboration between Vulshain and I.))

Zach smiled as he took the egg from Samuil. “Thank you.” He handed the egg to one of the Guardsmen standing nearby. “Take this up to our room.” The Guardsman nodded, and took the egg upstairs.

Samuil smiled. “You’re welcome, President Kreskov. Again, we appreciate the warm welcome you and your people have given us.”

“It’s no problem. Always a pleasure to have another leader from a sentient species visit. Now, what exactly do you wish to do now? We’ve got all the time we need.”

“If you like we can begin the tour now, and start the negotiations later,” Samuil said, straightening his collar.

Zach nodded. “Okay. I’ll have the Republican Guard set up the motorcade. Shouldn’t take a little more than two or three minutes.” Zach turned nodded to Stu, who walked outside to the awaiting Guardsmen. “Anything you would like to see before we go?”

“Surprise me and my sister,” Samuil said with a smile. Cecila smiled and chuckled.

Zach smiled and nodded. “Alright. I suppose we can take you up to the guest rooms. Right this way.” Zach and Tania walked up the stairs with Samuil and Cecila to the two rooms. Tania took Cecila into her room and Zach took Samuil to his. A queen-sized bed sat towards the west wall, and a large hand-sewn rug sat in the middle. of the room. A table with two chairs sat on the rug, and a desk sat on the east wall. A door led outside to a balcony which overlooked the city and the largest church in the country, the Church of Saint Emir and the Den Mother.
“What do you think?”

“Impressive,” Samuil said in awe. “If you ever get the chance to visit Vulshain, I’ll show you around Kitsuniva. I’m surprised you haven’t ask me how I know how to speak Lobonese.”

“That never really crossed my mind.” Zach chuckled. “So how exactly do you speak Lobonese?”

Chuckling as well, Samuil replied, “I had a lobo babysitter, Erna Thueana, who taught me Lobonese. Cecila and I adored her.”

Zach smiled. “So how exactly are things over in Vulshain? Any trouble with militants or opposing parties?”

“Well, there have been some problems with some insurgents and terrorists who are strongly supportive of Merrill Rivers and his regime, but nothing too bad. We haven’t caught Merrill Rivers or his inner circle yet, but DIEIS is confidant that we’ll catch them eventually.”

Zach cocked his head to the side. “I’m not all that sure, but there’s a rumor going around within the military community that he was captured just outside of one of our border towns. I’m really suprised I haven’t been told anything about it.”

Samuil was speechless as his jaw hung open. “You mean…Merrill Rivers…you caught him? My God, how? When? Where?” Samuil couldn’t believe it, the madman had finally been captured!

“Apparently the National and Republican Guard captured him just inside our border. Blew right past the border station. I heard that he was shot and is currently in St. Emir Memorial over in Weis Aforum.” Zach shrugged. “Maybe we can get caught up by Stu, since he’s in charge of the Republican Guard.” Stu walked in. “Sir, the motorcade is ready.” Zach looked at Stu. “Stu, ride with us. I’d like you to fill us in on Merrill Rivers.”

Samuil recovered from the surprise. “Yes, that would be good.” “I can’t believe it! Merrill Rivers captured at long last!” “Tell me, will your wife be joining us?”

“Yes, I believe she is.” Zach, Samuil, and Stu walked out and met Tania and Cecila in the hall. The group climbed back down the stairs, and outside. Camera shutters went off and the flashes of the bulbs lit up the area. The Republican Guard surronded the group to deter an attack. Stu opened the door for the group, and climbed in behind them. Zach looked over at Samuil. “Anywhere in particular you’d like to visit first?”

“Surprise me.”

“Alright.” Zach whispered something to the driver, who then nodded. The driver radioed the stop to the defending Republican Guard vehicles, and the motorcade began making its way to its destination. “So Stu, what are all these rumors about Merrill Rivers being captured?” Stu adjusted his collar and took a drink of water.

“Well Mr. President, Merrill Rivers crossed the border at the Seig Anutium border crossing and moved into the forested area. The National Guard moved in and placed checkpoints throughout the town. A group of National Guardsmen searched the forest, and opened fire on his black sport utility vehicle. They shredded the tires, and proceeded to fire tear gas into the vehicle. The group and Rivers exited the SUV and began returning fire at the National Guardsmen. They killed his defenders, and shot Rivers in the abdomen. He was taken to the hospital in Weis Aforum at 0630 hours and is still currently there under armed guard.”

Cecila was shocked. “By St. Aiya, you mean you have Merrill Rivers in custody right now? President Kreskov, you and your country have done something that the whole Department of Internal and External Intelligence and Security and our entire military have been unable to do for many years! Bring that madman to justice!” “Indeed, President Kreskov, I don’t know how to thank you,” Samuil added.

OOC: this is a collaboration between Southern Yugoslavia and I.

Zach nodded. “Don’t worry about it. Anything to rid the world of men like Rivers.”

Samuil nodded. “Yes, that is true. Now, that I think about it, your nation did help us in removing Rivers from power a long time ago.”

Zach nodded and smiled. “Yeah, I remember that. Back in 1981 if I remember correctly.” Zach looked over at Stu, then back at Samuil. “Me and Stu here served over on one of the Republican Guard teams that went in and eliminated a bunch of his key elements like radar and comm towers.”

“I see. You and I probably have plenty of war stories we could swap. Me, I served during the Civil War seven years ago, against insurgents trying to put him back in power.” Laughing, he added, “It was strange though. I had just enlisted when the Civil War broke out, they didn’t have time to put me through basic training. They just gave me a gun and told me to fight. I think…” Samuil stopped to think for a moment before continuing. “If I’m not mistaken, I had to pick up on skills that a normal infantry soldier wouldn’t normally have to learn, such as learning to drive a tank or flying a Hind helicopter. It was…chaotic, let’s put it that way. We basically had to be jack-of-all trades during that conflict. My sister here, served in the Air Force. Pretty good, too.”

Cecilia glared at him. “Pretty good? Ha! I was the best there was, before my eyes started to go bad on me.”

Zach smiled and nodded. “What’d you fly?”

Cecilia smiled. “MiGs, mostly.”

Zach nodded. “We were dropped in by C-17s. We didn’t take much flak suprisingly. I suppose his radar facilities were offline before we went in.”

Nodding, Samuil and Cecilia listened to him. However, Cecilia kept glancing at Stu once in a while for some reason. She smiled at him a bit before returning to listening Zach.

Zach glanced over at Stu without moving his head and watched his tail slightly wag. His eyes returned to Samuil. “We were dropped about ten miles behind the border. Supposed to hit a major comm center and radar and SAM center fifteen miles further inland. Landed in a forest.” Zach looked over at Stu. “Didn’t you get caught in a tree?” Stu smirked. “No, that was Vecio.” Zach cracked up. “All of us landed in a clearing, while this one kid, Vecio, ended up landing in a tree.” Zach smiled. “We had to climb up the tree and cut him loose.” Zach’s smile faded for a moment. “He was shot when we entered the radar station. Luckily, we got him out of there alive. I think he’s in living in Makion now.”

“Hm…C-17s, huh? We mainly use Antonov An-124s,” Samuil said. “Not to mention, I noticed that you use MiG-35s in your Air Force. We’re use them as well, although we mainly use MiG-29s and F-14s. We got a few Harriers. Cecilia didn’t the Ministry of Defense mentioned that we over produced on some aircraft?”

Cecilia thought for a bit. "I think so. We may have some extra tanks and um…2S19 “MSTA-S and TOS-1s as well. I think we might be able to give some to Southern Yugoslavia’s military. We do have some extra RT-2UTTKh Topol Ms too. Um…President Kreskov, does your nation have a Strategic Rocket Forces branch of your military like our nation?”

Zach nodded. “I suppose you could call it that. Strategic Missile Command usually takes care of the missiles, whether it be launches or maintenance. They care for the ICBMs and other missiles. NASA cares for satellites and shuttles.”

“I see. Well, if you like we could give some of our extra vehicles and fighters as a gift from our military to your military. It’s not good if they’re just sitting there collecting dust.” Cecilia nodded, although she did glance over at Stu again. “Why am I so focused on him,” she thought. “Tell me, Stu is it, um…this might be a silly and odd question, but um…I take you’re a married man, right?” “Why did I ask a question like that?”

Zach looked over at Stu before answering. “If they aren’t being used, we’d be happy to take them.” Zach looked over at Stu. Stu shifted his position in his seat. “At this moment, no I’m not.”

“I see,” Cecilia said. She had to admit, Stu was attractive, but after a long list of bad relationships, she wasn’t sure if she was ready for another shot at romance. “Okay, girl cool it. You’re here to help your brother, not go on dates.”

Samuil looked over at his sister and shrugged before turning back to Zach. “I’ll see to it that they are delivered to you as soon as possible. Still, I must apologize for arriving late to your nation, especially after well, the attempt on my life.”

Zach nodded. “It’s no problem. Things happen. Any ideas on who was behind it?”

Samuil thought for a bit. “DIEIS has several leads, but we have had some help though from President Richard Im and the government of Bai Lung. Apparently, Bai Lung believes that insurgent and terrorist groups, mainly those with anti-Monarchy and pro-Republican agendas were funded and supplied by Kashgar Liberation Front. They’re an insurgent group that’s been giving Im and his government some problems recently.”

The motorcade slowly came to a stop. The driver spoke into the intercom. “We’re here, Mr. President. Please wait until the Republican Guard declares the area safe.” The escorting Tigr HUMVEEs were dismounted by the Republican Guard who then searched the area.

“Tell me, Mr. President, before we get out, what can you tell me about President Im and the Bai Lungese government. There are a couple of members of my government who are wary of Im.”

Cecilia nodded. “Any information or experiences you have had with their government would be helpful,” she said.

Zach scratched his muzzle. “To be honest, we really haven’t had contact with Bai Lung. Other than what their news station puts out, we really don’t know of anything about them. I’m not even sure we can trust their news network.”

Samuil was curious and a little worried when Zach said that. “Oh, and why is that?”

“Well, the Department of Defense is assuming their news network is state-run. If it is state-run, we can’t always assume it’s correct or giving factual information about events.” Zach looked out the window, then back at Samuil.
“However, we can’t find evidence that proves or disproves this.”

“That is true. By the way, I…” Cecilia’s cellphone beeped.

Cecilia said, “Sorry. One moment…” She listened to the phone. Her eyes widened. “I see…Alright I’ll tell him.”

“Who was that?”

Zach and Stu’s ears pricked up.

“That was Chief Prime Minister Spencer. He just told me that Selvala McEva the former Premiere of Vekaiyu was arrested for attempting to assassinate Premier Staphen Evesuni of Listonia.”

“What? Is he serious?”

“I’m afraid so. He said that Selvala was actually a Maxist.”

“And–”

“Wait, it gets worse.”

“Worse?”

“Yes. Apparently, after Kral Commodore Ikrisia Levinile was made the new Premiere, riots broke out in several provinces of Vekaiyu. And two of them are threatening to secede from Vekaiyu if Selvala is restored to power.”

Samuil didn’t like this. “This isn’t good.”

“That’s not all.”

“Oh great…”

“Actually, it’s good news.”

“Huh?”

“Several high-ranking insurgent and terrorist leaders were arrested a few days ago. Some of them were plotting of coming over here and disrupt the celebrating of the new Laiatan Protestant year.”

Zach was shocked. “Do they know where they were planning to come through?”

Cecilia smiled. “Don’t worry Mr. President. Their leader, Commander Kurtis Monty Garza, was the brains behind the plot. Without him, the groups are too afraid to move ahead with the plan. We’ve been able to apprehend several more of their leaders. Still, it might be a good idea for both of our nations to beef up security.”

Breathing a sigh of relief, Samuil said, “Oh thank God. I’ll have Vulshain’s Border Guards keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.”

Zach smiled. “Maybe now the Chiefs of Staff won’t think it’s a bad idea to put a few Marine batallions in Field de Gras.”

“That would be a good idea. Still, I could contact DIEIS and have Director Ewing send some DIEIS agents over just to be safe,” Samuil replied. “I must admit this is very unexpected.” Remembering something he added, “Weren’t you and Vekaiyu having some sort of problem about a submarine of theirs in your waters?”

Zach nodded. “Yes. We captured one of their subs about a week or two ago.”

“I see. Wait, didn’t one of our ships enter your waters?”

“Yes. From what I’ve heard, we managed to save most of the crew.”

“Thank you. I apologize for one of our ships entering your waters, Mr. President. I will have my government send over some medals to award your crews for saving our sailors. They deserve it.”

“It’s no problem. They were lucky our ships were there. I don’t know what would have happened.” One of the Guardsmen tapped on the window. “All clear, Mr. President.” Zach looked at Samuil. “Are you ready?”

Samuil and Cecilia smiled. Cecilia looked at Stu and smiled at him. “Why am I smiling at him? What’s wrong with me!” Samuil noticed his sister smiling at Stu, but said nothing about it. He turned back and Zach and said, “We’re ready.”

Zach noticed as well, but too said nothing. He cracked the window to speak to the Republican Guard soldier. “We’re ready, Lieutenant.” The officer nodded and slowly opened the door to the limo. Zach and Tania exited first, and stood ready to walk with Samuil and Cecilia. Stu motioned for them to exit.

Samuil and Cecilia exited as well. Cecilia as she was getting out, lost her balance and fell in Stu’s direction. “Whoa,” she gasped.

Stu caught her just as he exited the limo. He smiled and felt his tail slowly move side to side.

Cecilia looked up at him and blushed. “Um…Thanks for catching me.” Her tail also slowly wagged. Samuil saw this and smiled. Whispering to Zach, he said, “It would seem my sister has become quite attracted to your head of your Presidental Division.”

Zach chuckled. “It appears so.” Zach put his arm around Tania and waited for Stu and Cecilia to catch up. Stu blushed, and helped her up. “No problem.”

Cecilia straightened her uniform after Stu helped her up. “I appreciate it very much. Um…” “Should I ask him?” She bit her lip as she twirled a strand of her hair. “Maybe later, after the tour, you and I could…um…spend some time. Just you and me, that is.” Her blushing deepened. She tried to hide it as she wagged her tail.

Stu’s tail slowly increased speed. “Um…sure. Sure. That’d be nice.”

[OOC: This is a collaboration post between myself and Vulshain.]]

Samuil waited for Cecilia and Stu to catch up. Whispering in Unonian to her, he said, “I see you have taken a strong likening to Stu.”
Quickly looking at her brother, she replied in a whispered, but still surprised tone in Unonian, “Wh-what? I-but–I um…Oh alright. I admit he is attractive, and he is the first guy who doesn’t want to jump into my pants. Maybe…” She blushed and wagged her tail as her heart pounded in her chest. Smiling, he told her, “Just be careful, alright, Cecilia. Don’t do anything crazy or embarrassing enough to make me want to find the nearest hole to crawl into.” Samuil smiled at her as the two of them walked along the President, the First Lady, Stu, and their escorts.

The group walked up onto a hill overlooking a massive valley. In the center, a hospital sat silently as patients went in and were discharged. Zach looked at Samuil. “What do you think of our first stop?”

Samuil looked a little puzzled. “I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting a hospital.”

Stu looked at Samuil. “This is the hospital Merrill Rivers is being held. That’s why there’s military equipment at the entrances.” Stu looked back at the hospital. A truck had pulled up and dropped off more soldiers. “We thought you may want to see him personally.”

“Oh.” Samuil was indeed surprised. Cecilia began to get weak kneed as the horrors she experienced as a POW came back. She swallowed her fear. “Well, then, I guess we see the devil himself then,” Samuil said.

Zach noticed Cecilia’s reaction. He turned back to Samuil and whispered, “We can go somewhere else if we need to.”

“It’s okay. This is something we both need to do. We appreciate your concern, but both my sister and I need to see this thing through.” Cecilia grabbed Stu’s arm, steadying herself. “I’m okay. Let’s go see the bastard of a bitch,” she said.

Stu nodded and directed the group back into the limo, which proceded to drive to the hospital. The motorcade stopped in the parking garage so it wouldn’t block the emergency entrance. The group proceded inside, and made their way to the second floor. Stu approached the desk. “We’re here to see Merrill Rivers, government business.” He flashed his Republican Guard I.D. card. The nurse nodded and directed them down the hall. Stu motioned for the rest of the group to follow him. They arrived at the Republican Guard checkpoint a few doors before Rivers’. They noticed the bird on his coat and moved out of the way for the group. The group approached Rivers’ room. The guards stood at attention. One of them reported in. “Colonel, in accordance to protocal, I must see your authorization to enter.” Stu handed the I.D. card the guard. He looked it over and handed back to Stu. The guard turned and unlocked Rivers’ door and allowed the group in.

Samuil and Cecilia walked into the room. Before them lay the human man who had plunged their homeland into a nightmarish hell. The same man whose followers had taken their parents from them. Samuil clenched his fist as he stared down at the man known as Merrill Rivers. Merrill looked at them. “Who are you?”

“I am King Samuil Rainard, the new king of the Confederacy of Vulshain.” Laughing he turned and looked at Zach. “And you are?”

Zach looked over at the guard sitting in the corner, then back at Rivers. “I’m the president of the country you’re now a prisoner in.”

“Prisoner?” As he laughed, he coughed. Smiling he replied, “So they send a president and a king to taunt and mock Rivers? I am Merrill Rivers, Presidental Viceroy of the Republic of–” “Former Presidental Viceroy,” Cecilia immediately corrected him. Grinning, “I gave Vulshain pride, purpose. I offerred them the world! Yet, you and the rest of your freaks turned Vulshain against me. But there are those who still serve me loyally. They will butcher your friends and families, level your homes, and burn your nations to ash! And from those ashes like the majestic phoenix, I will recreate the world! A world where order rules supreme!”

Cecilia was ready to pounce on him and rip his throat open, but she simply stared at him as she held onto Stu’s arm. “Because of you, Samuil and I lost our parents, our friends. For what? To satisfy your power-hungry ego!” “Good people died because of you, Rivers. I will enjoy seeing you rot in a cell for the rest of your life. Killing you is too easy a punishment to give you.” “PUNISHMENT!?” Rivers struggled to get out of the bed, but he made do with sitting up. “You and the rest of the world dare not make me into a martyr for you fear me! Put me behind bars, and my followers will set your world on fire! The armies of the New World Order will march through your streets! Your soldiers helpless against them! And you will beg on like the dogs you are for me to save
you from destruction! You have not won! YOU NEVER WILL!” Rivers laughed like a madman. “I will enjoy seeing the nations of the mongrels fall at my feet!”
Samuil just looked at him. “You know a part of me wants to kill you, but seeing you now, I just feel sorry for you. You nothing but insane. Like a rabid animal.” Turning to Zach he said, “Let’s go.” Rivers continued to laugh like a madman.

Zach nodded. A nurse walked past them before they made their way out, and injected a sedative into Rivers. She calmly walked back out. Stu led the group out of the hospital back to the motorcade waiting in the parking garage.

Samuil sighed. “You know. At one time, I felt nothing but hatred towards him, but now, seeing him like this, I can only feel pity for him. I guess the saying that power corrupts is true. Except in his case, power not only corrupts, it also drives you mad.”
Cecilia nodded as she still held onto Stu’s arm for support. Realizing that she was squeezing his arm, she let go. “I’m so sorry, Stu…I didn’t mean…I didn’t…” She turned away, embarrassed. She was still trembling.

Stu put his hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry about it.”

Turning around, she looked at him. Tears were welling up in her eyes. Suddenly, she embraced him and started crying. “Thank you,” she said through the tears.

“Shhhh. It’s okay. Calm down.” Stu held her close to attempt to calm her down. He began to stroke her head.

Cecilia nodded. “Thank you, Stu. I…” She looked at him, and smiled, her tail wagging slowly. “I…” She just let him continue to stroke her head. “Thank you.” Samuil smiled at his sister and Stu. “You know Zach, uh…you don’t mind if I call you Zach, right?”

Zach nodded. “Of course you can.”

Nodding, Samuil replied, “Thank you. And you can call me Sam. Tell me, just between you and me, what do you think of them?” He turned back to look at Stu comforting his sister.

Zach nodded. “I’ve known Stu for at least ten years. I know he’s a good guy. Personally, I think they’d be good together. But that’s just judging from the short time you two have been here.”

Nodding, Sam answered, “I came to the same conclusion. I just hope she doesn’t invite him to take a ride in a MiG. If she does, I hope he knows how to hold on to his stomach.”

Zach chuckled. “Well I’m glad they test us for how many Gs we can take during Republican Guard basic.”
Vulshain says:
Sam was intrigued. “Really? Go on.” He was interested in hearing more.

“Well, since we’re pretty much trained to go anywhere using any means necessary, they felt the need to see how many Gs we could take for certain drops.”

“I see. When I had to fly a Hind during the Civil War, one of the first moves they make you do is doing a barrell roll. Since the Hind is the first helicopter capable of doing that.”

Zach nodded. “Yes, I’m familiar with the Hind. That’s why we used it for 30 years. We only got the more modern helicopters when I came into power.”

“I see. There’s been a lot of pressure from some arms manufacturers and a few members of the military for us to start using F-22 Raptors. They’re good, but too expensive. Not to mention, my sister would skin me alive if I gave the okay to do the switch. Ever since we were little, she always wanted to be in the Air Force. Her two favorite fighters: MiG-31 and Su-27. Both of which she flew
during the Civil War. I had the…misfortune to fly with her. Don’t is my advice.”

Zach chuckled. “Yeah, we typically use the MiGs and Sukhois ourselves. We do have the newest versions though. If I’m not mistaken, we actually flew old F-4s before the military started becoming modernized by the president before me. I’m just finishing what he started.”

Nodding, Sam asked, “How long have you been in office, if you don’t mind me asking?”

Zach thought for a moment. “Two years this January.”

“Hm…I see. Well, I hope it hasn’t been too bad for you.”

“Not really. The Kvatch Militant Crisis was the hardest thing to take care of so far. Then again, trying to keep the country together after I passed the act that repealed Act 291 may be a bit more difficult. Luckily, I have the full support of the military.”

Sam thought for a bit. “You know, since your nation aided us, I think Vulshain should return the favor. If you like, I could have my military ready to provide your troops with support.”

Zach nodded. “If this does turn into a shooting war, I’m sure the military will get a morale boost knowing they’ve got the full support of a neighboring nation.”

Smiling Sam replied, “Don’t mention it. We all have to stick together. I think that’s why Rivers failed. He just doesn’t understand that by working together, we can make the world a better place. Instead, he thought he could sway people to follow him, then he could do that.”
Cecilia wiped the tears from her eyes as she smiled at Stu. “Thank you Stu. I appreciate your…support. I really needed it.” Sighing, she brushed some of her hair from in front of her face. “I…um…” “Here goes nothing.” She gave him a light kiss on the cheek. Blushing she said, “That’s for being there for me. Thank you.” Her heart pounded in her chest as her tail wagged, as she
blushed.

Stu smiled and could feel himself blush. He tried his hardest to stop his tail from wagging, but could not resist. “It’s my pleasure.”

Taking hold of his hand, Cecilia smiled as she said, “Come. Let’s go.”

Stu nodded. Zach, Tania, and Samuil followed Stu and Cecilia to the motorcade. Zach looked at Samuil. “Where would you like to go now? Your choice.”

Samuil thought for a bit. “I think my sister should make that decision.” Sam smiled at her. She shook her head. “I have…always…well, wanted to see the Church of Saint Emir and the Den Mother.”

Zach shook his head in approval. “That’s doable. Stu, if you would.” Stu nodded and pulled out his radio. “This is Colonel Riskotov, we need a defensive perimeter around the Church of Saint Emir and the Den Mother. Leave the inside alone, just defend the outside.” A voice came on over the radio. “Yes, sir, Colonel. We’re moving.”

Cecilia smiled. “I don’t believe it. I’m actually going to see it!”

The group climbed into the limo. The motorcade began driving back towards New Skopje, the location of the Church.

“Zach, I think we should keep the knowledge of Rivers being held prisoner for awhile. There are a lot of people out there who will do anything short of firing a nuke to rescue him,” Sam said.

Zach nodded. “Of course. Only me, my cabinet, Stu, you, Cecilia, the guards, and the workers at the hospital tending to Rivers know he’s there. And the workers are sworn to secrecy with the knowledge.”

Nodding, Sam smiled. “Good. The fewer the people who know, the better. Just a moment, I need to make a quick phone call.” Taking out his phone, he spoke in Unonian. After a bit, he put his phone back in his pocket. “I just had to arrange to get the medals sent over from Vulshain so I can award your sailors for rescuing the crew of the Halo’s Light. Your soldiers deserve it.”

Zach shook his head in approval. “They do deserve it, even if they say they don’t, or that they were just doing their jobs. The men and women that give their lives to their country are true heroes.”

“I agree. So, what can you tell us about the Church of Saint Emir and the Den Mother? I know that it houses Saint Emir’s remains, but I’m curious.”

“Well, it also houses the first known version of the Laiatan Bible. Built back in 1700, before our capital today was even around. Back then it was a fishing village. Why they picked there, we may never know. We do however know that now the capital houses more half a million people. Anyway, it’s built of marble, and is quite possibly the largest church in the region.
I know it’s the largest church in the nation, though.”

“Wow,” Cecilia said with great interest. “I have always wanted to see the first Laiatan Bible. The one that the Den Mother gave Saint Emir.”

Zach nodded. “Yes. We’re lucky they found it during the excavation at his second resting site.”

OOC: This is a collaboration between me and Southern Yugoslavia.

Samuil became interested in the discussion of the church. Despite being a Celiam Methodist, he had no problem with his sister, Cecilia, being a Laiatan Protestant. “Continue,” he said.

“Anyway, his first resting site was at the village he was born in. They moved him Iskin, where the largest church was at the time. Nobody exactly knows what happened to Iskin, but his body went missing for about 1,100 years. They found him during an excavation.”

Cecilia was showing great interest at the discussion. “Wow. So what can you tell us about his final resting place?”

“The church in New Skopje or Iskin?”

“Well, since we are headed to New Skopje, you can tell us about the Church there,” Samuil answered before his sister could reply. She had wanted to hear about both, but she guessed it made sense to know about the place they were going to at the moment.

Zach paused for a moment to attempt to recall a few facts. “It was built about 1700 and designed by Vladimir Hrigen Yurok, quite possibly the greatest architect in all of Southern Yugoslavia’s history. He designed most of the famous buildings in New Skopje. Anyway, like I said, it was built of marble and took about twelve years to finish. The dome has a painting on the inside of Saint Emir meeting the Den Mother before his death in 520 A.D.”

Samuil nodded. “It is probably much grander than the Church of the Forest, which was dedicated to Erigian Nelerusy, who helped spread the Laiatan Protestant faith in Vulshain in the early 800s AD.”

Zach paused to listen to Samuil.

Samuil then went on. “Despite Rivers’ desire to destroy anything that might be used as a symbol against his reign, he couldn’t touch a lot of the temples and churches, as even his own supporters were against it. Irony I guess was on our side. Kitsuniva is basically filled with churches, pagan temples, cathedrals, and historical sites and monuments. So, it is a city rich in history and culture. I take it New Skopje is the same.”

Zach nodded. “Yes, it is a major culture center.”

“Ah, I see. So, what other religions are practiced in Southern Yugoslavia? In Vulshain, Celiam Methodist, Laiatan Protestantism, Vayan Catholicism, Methodism, and Russian Orthodox are the largest religions in the Confederacy.”

“Really, Laiatan Protestantism is the major religion. I think it’s up to 98% of the country follows it. Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are the next three. They’re typically followed by the human population.”

Both Cecilia and Samuil nodded. “So…um…Stu, what is the Republican Guard like? I take it is a Special Forces branch of the military,” Cecilia asked as she twirled a lock of her reddish-brown hair in her fingers.

Stu looked over at Cecilia. “Not too difficult once you get past your training. At least, that’s for my branch.”

Cecilia smiled at him. “I see. So, um…have you flown in a MiG-31 before?”

Stu shook his head. “Never flown in a MiG-31. Others, yeah, but not a ‘31’.”

“Oh, I see.” She smiled at him. Samuil smiled and shook his head. “I also think he hasn’t had his pants ripped off after ejecting from his MiG and landing in a tree while a Ground Forces unit was passing by.” He gave her a grin.

Cecilia blushed and stuttered, “Wh…at…what!? I thought I told you never to tell them about that!”

Laughing, Sam continued. “Should I tell Stu, or should you?” Cecilia’s blushing was getting deeper.

Zach and Stu chuckled. “Don’t worry, Stu’s had some embarrassing moments himself.”

Cecilia sighed before saying, “I’ll him.” Turning back to Stu and Zach, she told them. “I was flying on patrol when I was ambushed by some anti-aircraft fires. I got hit and had to eject.” Cecilia took a deep breath and continued. “After ejecting, I landed in a forest, where my brother and his unit were passing through. Unfortunately for me, I landed in a tree, and the damn freaking branches torn not only my pants off, but my underwear, too! To make matters, worse, I landed right in front of them hanging from a damn stupid tree!”

Samuil was doing his best not to bust out laughing.

Stu wasn’t sure whether to laugh or feel bad for her. Zach however, coughed a couple times, trying to cover a laugh.

Zach coughed again. “I’m sorry Cecilia.”

Samuil said, “Oh on.” Rolling her eyes, she continued. “After laughing, my brother included, butts and tails off, they tried to get me down. Unfortunately, while trying to get me down, and I have no idea how this happened, but my entire front of my suit tore, including my bra!”

Sam was really having difficulty not laughing, and he said, “Let’s just say that she was really exposed.”

Stu looked over at Cecilia, then quickly back at Samuil. “So how did you finally get her down?”

Hissing, Sam replied, “Well…We finally had to cut the straps of her parachute. Two of my comrades, Ralph and Oliver, were supposed to catch her. They did, but they accidentally dropped her in a mud puddle.”

Stu shook his head. “Quite an interesting story.”

“Yeah, I just wished Ralph and Oliver hadn’t dropped me head first into the puddle.”

“Or dropped you at all.”

Cecilia nodded. “Yeah, that’s true.” She turned to her and grinned a mischevious smile. “Uh-oh,” Sam said.

Zach looked over at Samuil. “What?”

“Cecilia, you’re not going to…oh St. Aiya!”

Cecilia turned to Stu and Zach and said. “Since, my brother brought up an embarrassing story about me, I’m going to tell you one of him. Or do you want to tell them, Sam?”

Sam groaned. “Alright. I’ll tell them.” Looking back at Stu, Tania, and Zach, he said, “One day I was doing some work on a GAZ-2975 Tigr, and some moron named James didn’t realized that I was working on it. He starts the damn engine, and the blasted thing just glushes oil and grease over me!”

Zach silently chuckled. “What’d you do to him?”

“Oh, that’s not the end of it.”

Cecilia was doing her best not to giggle.

“The idiot had headphones on, so he couldn’t hear me screaming at him to turn the motor off. He puts the jeep in gear, and he tries to drive it, but the engine dies while one of the wheels is sitting on my tail!”

Zach and Stu cringed. “Then what?”

“So, I’m screaming for someone to help me, and a general walks by. Can’t remember the general’s name, but he was large human man. He looks down at me, screaming and the moron trying to get the engine to start. Doesn’t say a word. He simply kicks the jeep with one foot off my tail and looks down at me. The moron turns around, takes off his headphones, gets out of the jeep, and salutes the general in no time, while I’m laying on the ground, my tail feeling like it had been in a vice, with oil and grease covering my face. And for some damn reason, I don’t salute him!”

Zach leaned back. “So then what happened?”

He just says, “Carry on,” and walks away. I get up and just growled at that moron, James, telling him, “I am going to make your life a living hell!”

“KP duty for two months, cleaning my clothes, and helping me get the damn grease and oil out of my fur, taught him not to do something stupid like that again!”

Zach shook his head. A voice came on over the intercom. “Sir, we’re here.”

“The embarrassing part for my brother that day was that I watching the entire thing.”

Stu chuckled.

“So, Zach, what embarrassing thing has happened to Stu, when you two served with one another,” Samuil asked. Cecilia’s eyes widened.

“Oh he did not!”

Zach chuckled. “Stu, should I?”

Stu felt his face turning red. “Maybe after we take a visit to the church. Didn’t our driver say we were here?”

Cecilia quickly nodded, trying to save Stu from the embarrassment. “Yes, yes, he did. I think we should visit the church first.”

Zach shrugged. “Alright, let’s go.”

The Katiakim District in Kitsuniva is home to a large number of embassies. Unfortunately, one of these embassies belongs to the Armed Republic of Rygard. To many, especially the Kitsunivinites, it is an eyesore. The building is black, and is covered in skulls, cobras, and gargoyles. To many it is a frightening and ugly building.

Large iron gates that resembled something from a Gothic Medieval castle are guarded by Rygardi guards. They wear camo uniforms and helmets. Their eyes are shielded by black visors, and they hold M-16 assault rifles, equipped with bayonets.

Right now, they are glaring at a crowd of protesters gathered outside the Rygardi Embassy.

“Filthy trash,” one Rygardi says.

His friend nods as they listen to the protesters.

“Rygard is a nation of evil! They commit acts of slavery, racism, and even murder their own people! Rygard is a nation that sponsors terrorism! Leave Vulshain!”

“Down with Rivers! Down with Rivers!”

A Rygardi officer, as noted by his rank, begins screaming in a megaphone. “Listen here! I want everyone of you maggots to leave now, or else! You hear me! Or else!”

Several police officers and Confederate Marshals have arrived. They are trying to get people to leave peacefully.

“Look at that. Those cops are pansies! They should be hosing these protesters with hoses and seeking dogs, or beating their brains out, but no! They’re trying to be peaceful.”

“Yeah, makes me wish I was out of this damn flea-infested excuse of a nation.”

“I’m sick of these mutts and the animal-lovers! Damn it! Why haven’t they left yet,” a Rygardi guard with a huge scar across his jaw said to his commanding officer.

“Shut up, Private Uriah,” the Rygardi officer scolded. “Alright, listen here! I demand that all you flea-bags get your sorry tails the hell out here! NOW!”

The Rygardi’s demands are only angering the protesters even more, making it harder for the police and marshals to break up the protest.

“I wish that guy would shut up. He’s only riling them up even more,” a Vulshainian police officer grumbles.

A Vulpine teenager breaks through the police line. “Hey kit, get back here! What in St. Aiya’s name are you doing?” Before the officer can reach the teen, the Vulpine hurls a rock at one of the guards, striking the Rygardi in the face.

“Shit! They’re attacking! They’re attacking!” The guards switched off the safeties.

“Open fire!” All hell broke loose then. The Rygardi Embassy guards opened fire on the protestors.

An East Malaysian businessman was checking his watch, when he felt something hit him. He looks down at his chest bleeding before dying as he falls to the ground. Two people from Kelssek, having just married, are gunned down. They had just started a new chapter in life, only for that chapter to end too quickly.

“Damn it, kit! Look out!” The police officer shields the Vulpine teen with his body. The kit looks on in horror as he watches the officer sacrifices his life to save his. A marshal grabs the Vulpine and pulls him to safety. A little girl screams as a bullet hits her in the arm. Her parents shield her as bullets fly by them.

A car explodes. The explosion engulfs a tourist. She screams as she catches fire. There are wounded on the streets. The Rygardi guards smile. Their smiles fade as an angry Vulshainian Confederate soldier snarls at them. The Rygardi officer approaches him. “You got a problem–” His sentence is cut short as the Confederate soldier shoves his arm through the gates and grabs the man by the throat.

The Lobo soldier says in an angry tone, “You fucking bastard of a bitch! If you weren’t behind these damn gates, I would maul you for the shit you just did!” He then spits in the Rygardi’s face, before throwing the Rygardi into several of the other guards, knocking them down.

Red and white ambulances and motorcycle ambulances pulled up, their sirens and flashing blue, amber, and white lights mixing with the flashing blue and red lights and sirens of the blue, silver, and black police cars that were pulling up as well. Red, white, and silver colored fire trunks arrived as well, their red and green lights mixing with those of the other lights. Black and yellow uniformed firefighters begin to put out the fires. “St. Emir,” Kaliw Nxama, a Lobo paramedic, gasped in shock as he pulls up in his motorcycle ambulance. He notices the wounded girl. Rushing over with two other paramedics, they look over the girl. Kaliw curses in Lobonese as he bandages the bleeding gunshot wound. “Get this child to St. Christopher now!”

The girl is carefully placed on a stretcher, her parents watching in disbelief. A firefighter checks the burned woman. She shakes her head to a police officer. “She’s dead. Poor soul. Hey, what’s this?” She notices a part of her passport is still intact. “Says she’s from Reizel.”

“Oh shit, this is bad,” a Confederate Marshal sighs as he takes off his hat as sign of respect as paramedics place the two newly weds in bodybags.

Emergency personnel quickly start sending the wounded to the nearest hospitals. People are stunned by the carnage.

Soldiers and police in riot gear angrily look at the Rygardi Embassy Guards. “Damn, fucking…I’ll kill you bastards!” One soldier tries to rush the gates, but is stopped by his comrade.

“Easy Comrade, easy. Murate, I want to sink my fangs in these SOBs too, but not now. We got to make sure these gun-happy sadists don’t try this again.” Nodding, he and his friend walk away from the gates.

A police officer checks the businessman’s passport. “East Malaysia. Oh boy, those Rygardi sure are going to make some nations very angry.”

Chief Prime Minister Adalberto Spencer rubbed his temples. “Oh no. Why this?”

Eszter Melisa Cantu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Relations, sighed. “Spencer, it just gets worse.”

“Worse! How in the God’s name can it get worse?”

“Rygard is refusing to turn over the guards to be put on trial for murder.”

“Oh God no! Why the hell did this have to happen?”

A very tired and angry Vulpine entered the room. “Fucking sons of bitches!” He slams his fists on Spencer’s desk. “Chief Prime Minister! Why in St. Aiya’s holy name are you not putting pressure on these sadists? They killed seven of our people, and four foreign citizens! The number wounded is still being figured! We’re at twenty-nine right now!”

“Minister of Defence Getenya, please calm down,” Eszter said.

“Calm down? Calm down! Eszter if you haven’t noticed, Rygard is accusing not only us, but also Southern Yugoslavia and Vekaiyu of trying to take over the world, and then they start shooting at innocent people! That’s it! I don’t give a damn what you two want!”

Frankyo storms out of the room.

Congressman Werurar Koparus sighed as he opened his door. “It’s emergency meeting after emergency meeting. I…” He stops as he sees his son, Gathegio, sitting on the floor, crying. Dropping his briefcase and coat, he rushes to his son. “Gathegio, what’s wrong?” Then, he noticed the blood staining his son’s clothes. “Oh God, Gathegio what happened?”

“I…” Werurar’s son told him what happened. Werurar was shocked. He was a little angry at his kit for doing something so stupid, but right now, he was actually more relieved that his son was safe. Embracing Gathegio, he said, “It’s okay, son. It’s okay.” “It’s not easy being a widower raising a hard-headed kit, love.”

Embassy of the Star Empire of East Malaysia
The Katiakim District - Kitsuniva

Ambassador Lee Chamberlyn was in a meeting with his staff on the day-to-day happenings, when gun shots and screams could be heard from the the outside, and everyone jumped up to look out the windows and could see people running.

A few moments later, bursting through the door, a group of armed YYY officers filled the room. “Ambassador, please come with us away from the windows. The embassy is on lock down protocol until we can determine what is going on,” spoke the ranking officer.

“Very well, we need to make sure all of our people have been accounted for, and I want everyone recalled to the embassy until further notice. I need to get to secured station to contact DFAD,” spoke Chamberlyn as he was being escorted out the room with the rest of his staff to a secure room.

Few hours later…

“We have confirmed one death due to this incident sadly,” Chamberlyn reported to Director Brendon Briggs on the view screen in the secured room his had been escorted to earlier. “Robert Mahan, 48, from Dutch Gap. Yes the name should sound very familiar before you ask… the CEO of World Wide Transceiver, he was on vacation. They will be releasing the body to us soon.”

“You have to be kidding me, he was a important asset to us, and she isn’t going to be very happy at all when I have to inform her of these new details. I will be issuing a statement soon on these events to the public media. I will be in contact with you again shortly. Briggs out,” with a tap on a unseen console Brendon vanished.

Eastrovia
Imperial Palace - Press Room

Director Briggs walked through the doors and immediatly was hit by a bombardment of reporters asking more questions than he could process by the time he reached the podium.

“As many of you have heard,” he started off and the reporters quited down, “that our embassy in Kitsuniva, Vulshain has been on lock down since a crowd of protesters were fired upon by guards of the Armed Republic of Rygard outside of their embassy. Sadly innocent bystanders in the wrong place at the wrong time were also gunned down. I can report that one of our citizens was among those people and we have notified the next of kin. They have given me permission to release his name. With my deepest condolences and respect for the family, I have to report that Robert Mahan of Dutch Gap and also he is the well-known CEO of WWT.”

Taking a breath as some of the East Malaysian reporters looked somewhat shocked then continuing with his statement.

“It is the position of this nation that we must condemn the actions of the Rygardi embassy guards and request an explanation of this from the Armed Republic of Rygard. We want to know if this was authorized or not and will be requesting the support of the interregional community in possibly sanctions against them.”

Looking at the clock on the podium quickly to see how much time he had left before another meeting with Chamberlyn.

“I have some time where I can take questions,” looking around the room to pick a reporter, “I’ll take the reporter from EMNN first,” as he pointed to him.

From the Rygardi Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Leman Jemadar
To the East Malaysian Department of Foreign Affairs & Diplomacy
To the East Malaysian Ambassador to Vulshain

I am sorry about your loss, but unfortunately, Mr. Robert Mahan should not have been vacating in a nation controlled by animals.  I apologize for him being killed, but the Embassy Guards had every right to open fire on the protesters as they were doing their job in protecting the Rygardi Republican Ambassador and his staff from the rabid Vulshainians.  I implore you to tell these mongrels that Rygard will not turn over those guards!  Thank you.

To the People of East Malaysia,

I am sorry for your loss.  However, while my guards did overreact, they were simply thinking of the safety of the Embassy staff.  Such things like this wouldn’t happen if Vulshain was not controlled by an animal.  I am certain that you will assist the Armed Republic of Rygard in crushing the schemes of Vekaiyun Premiere Ikrisia Levinile, Vulshainian King Samuil Rainard, and Southern Yugoslavian President Zachary Rikan Kreskov from carrying out their nefarious plans of world conquest by canine races.  We humans cannot allow such filthy degenerate mutts to govern nations, much less rule the world.  It is time for us to destroy them, for good.

Once more, I send my sympathies to you.

Vulshain sends messages of its own:

Ambassador Lee Chamberlyn of the Star Empire of East Malaysia,

I am deeply sorry for the death of Robert Mahan.  I cannot tell you how sorry I am.  I had briefly met Robert Mahan not too long ago when he returned to me my wallet after I had dropped it.  He was a good man.  The Rygardi Embassy Guards had no right to open fire like that on innocent people.  We are doing our best to try and reason with Rygard, but it is going nowhere.  They refuse to do so, until Vulshain restores Archibald Rivers’ father, Merrill Rivers, to power and publicily executes King Samuil Rainard.

Should you or your nation need anything, please, don’t be hesitate to ask.

Once more, I am sorry for Robert Mahan’s passing.

Sincerely,

Chief Prime Minister Adalberto Spencer of the Confederacy of Vulshain

Dear Ambassador Lee Chamberlyn of the Star Empire of East Malaysia,

I cannot express how sorry I am for the loss of your citizen Robert Mahan.  While I did not know him, I had heard of the many great things he had done, especially his charitable nature.  The world will surely miss such a kind man.

Rygard refuses to turn over the guards who committed such a heinous act, defending their actions as a act of protecting the safety of the Rygardi Republican Embassy staff.  I hardly believe that.

However, this is not the time for childish accusations and name-calling.  This is a time of mourning.  I send my deepest sympathies to not only nation, but also Mr. Mahan’s family.

If Vulshain can do anything for you, please let us know.

With my deepest sympathies,

New Irem – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
In the meanwhile – Office of Raymond Bathes

«I’m still wondering why the fucking hell this girl was on holiday in such a messy nation like Vulshain! Hasn’t people at least a bit of brain? They’re just one step from a bloody civil war… and a 25 years-old smart ass has nothing better to do than having her vacations there?!? Touring for what? Fleas?» shouted Raymond Bathes, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs for the joint governments of the Grand Duchy of Reziel and the Empire of Michelsland. Angry. No other word would have better described him in that moment. The whole situation in the Vulshainan Confederacy was indeed quite a mess… and the lack of proper and complete reports from the Rezielan intelligence wasn’t helping at all.

«And where the hell are the NISA reports? They promised…»

«All requests have been suspended. No one will be processed, unless specifically authorized by Lord Tynian. It seems their staff is overloaded, mainly due to the Packilvanian against Tassalvalta. We are…» replied one of his aides, knowing rather well that he wouldn’t have been granted the chance for a full answer.

«They go aroundthrowing in everybody’s face their incredible proficiency and now they’re unable to present me a general brief about a nation?!?»

«We’re at DefCon1 because of the Pax, Vice Minister. Intelligence and military efforts are basically directed towards handling that situation only»

Sitting back on his armchair, Raymond Bathes smirked in despise.

«Very well… prepare an official communication, advising people not to leave for the Vulshainan Confederacy. Secondly, let’s see if we can get in touch with possible further let’s-explore-CivilWarLand smart guys already travelling there and then let’s request to immediately leave the country. If we had already selected a new Ambassador there… we do not authorize him to leave until we won’t have been reassured about the true Government’s actual chances to restore order and stability. Finally, we send an official note of condemnation and complaint directed to these Rygardi, requesting them to hand over the firing guards and stressing that opening fire against a crowd can never be accepted as a proportionate reaction. Please do not forget to send a copy of said message to Eszter Melisa Cantu for his due knowledge»

Danorcius, Capital of the Armed Republic of Rygard

The Presidential Stronghold, home of the Presidential Viceroy Archibald Rivers. It is an imposing stronghold, built to withstand even a direct hit from an ICBM. It is black and has a dark and sinister Gothic design to it. Inside, Rivers is not happy. “What do you mean that East Malaysia is demanding a reason for my Embassy Guards opening fire on a bunch of mutts. I don’t give a rat’s ass that some fat-ass East Malaysian businessman got shot!” He slams the phone down. The two War Guards flanking him remain silent.

He turns and looks at a large monitor showing the faces of his government’s top officials.

“Damn it! Intios Krell, has our assassin arrived in Vekaiyu yet?”

“Yes, sir, the Shadow Messenger has just arrived,” answered the head of the Republican Investigative Bureau Against All Threats (RIBAAT).

“Good. Secretary of Defense, Constantine Atellus? What is the strength of the War Guards?”

“Very good, Presidential Viceroy Rivers. We have already mobilized 250 to 300 of them already. I have even sent fighters to slow down the Southern Yugoslavians to keep them from rendevousing with the Vekaiyuns and Vulshainians.”

“Excellent. And the rest of the military?”

“We have all units at Defcon Red Level, sir. The Commissars have ensured me that all peace-loving and dog-kissing hippies have been removed.”

“It was quite easy, Presidential Viceroy Rivers,” Supreme Commissar Flavion Victus said. “Rygard has no place in its military for such idealistic fools, especially those who would make peace with mongrels!”

Looking at his Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Garvel Mordeci, who answers, “I have seen to it that the ambassadors of East Malaysia and the Free Pacific Stars, as well as Kelssek and Reziel have been kicked out of Rygard.”

Nodding his approval, he turns to the Secretary of Internal Affairs, Quintilla Ephrael. “Secretary Ephrael, how goes the propaganda against our enemies?”

Smiling, she replies, “We are broadcasting propaganda, depicting King Rainard, President Kreskov, and Premiere Levinile as monstrous animals trying to conquer the world. Of course, you, depicted as a majestic knight in shining armor defeats them.”

“Ah, the St. George versus the dragon ploy!”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Excellent. Now, begin the war! Rygard will show the East Pacific Vulpines and Lobos who is in charge!” He raises a wine glass toasting his reign. “Rygard is power, power is Rygard,” he says. The War Guards salute him, repeating the national motto, their voices sounding electronic and mechanical, as if they were machines instead of people.

To: Mr. Garvel Mordeci, Secretary of Foreign Affairs

Dear sir,

It greatly saddens me that we should make contact in such unhappy circumstances, however, as you will understand, this has been compelled by the urgency of recent events.

I must confess my great puzzlement at the statement issued by your good self that Kelssekian diplomatic personnel were to be removed from Rygard. Firstly, our government has not accredited any diplomatic representatives to Rygard. Secondly, while it is of course every sovereign state’s perogative to determine its foreign relations, we are not aware of any reason we may have given to warrant such a move had we diplomatic representation. I would appreciate if you would kindly explain your government’s actions.

Furthermore, you will no doubt be aware of allegations that military personnel at your embassy in Vulshain opened fire and in doing so caused the deaths of several people outside the embassy, including two citizens of Kelssek and several other foreign nationals. We expect that your government will render its full cooperation in investigating this incident in the interests of peace among the community of nations. Rest assured that we shall await the outcome of a rigorous and factual investigation before assigning blame or taking actions in this matter.

Yours sincerely,
The Hon. Sinéad Jones, P.C., M.P., Ph.D

To The Hon. Sinéad Jones, P.C., M.P., Ph.D of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kelssek,

The reason for expelling your ambassadors is because of your willingness to treat with equality and tolerance of the degenerate animals, known as Lobos and Vulpines.  The Armed Republic of Rygard cannot associate itself with any nation that would treat humanoid animals as humanity’s equals.  Therefore, we were forced to expel your ambassadors.

I am sorry for your loss of two of your citizens, but our embassy guards were doing their job in protecting the Rygardi ambassador and his staff.  Now, the Vulshainian government, after expelling our diplomatic staff, attempted to arrest the five guards who valiantly fought off a bloodthirsty mob of animals.  They were successful in capturing two of our citizens and we demand that they release them.

I believe that there is much that both Rygard and Kelssek can do for each other.  However, for us to associate with you, the nation of Kelssek must aid us in crushing the Canine Axis Powers of Vulshain, Vekaiyu, and Southern Yugoslavia.  In assisting us as well as enslaving other animalistic humanoids, the Armed Republic of Rygard will gladly share with you our advanced technologies, such as our War Guards.

Sincerely,

Garvel Mordeci, Secretary of Foreign Affairs for the Armed Republic of Rygard

Dear Mr. Mordeci,

Please be informed that while we are pleased that your government accepts responsibility for the incident, we otherwise find your response completely unacceptable and highly regrettable.

We also wish to clarify that at no time have we ever had any diplomatic representation in your country, and that you therefore have expelled no one.

I regret strongly that it appears to be the practice of your government to incite provocation in your diplomatic messages and to request other nations assist you in the incitement of war and the commission of atrocities.

Yours,

The Hon. Sinéad Jones, P.C., M.P., Ph.D

The Hon. Sinéad Jones, P.C., M.P., Ph.D Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kelssek,

The Confederacy of Vulshain wishes to express our deepest sympathies with you over the loss of two of your people who were killed by the Rygardi Embassy Guards.

While it was the Rygardi Embassy Guards who killed them, they died in our nation, and thus we feel responsible for their deaths.  We know that no amount of apologies can ever bring them back.

While Rygard refused to turn over the guards who killed eleven people during a protest against the crimes against sentient life by the Rygardi government, we were able to apprehend two of the five guards after we expelled their ambassador and his staff from our nation after the Armed Republic of Rygard’s leader, Presidential Viceroy Archibald Rivers declared war on Vulshain, Southern Yugoslavia, Vekaiyu, Free Pacific States, and East Malaysia.  It was not our desire for war, and in fact we had hoped for a peaceful resolution to the cold war between Vulshain and Rygard, but alas, it was not meant to be.

If wish to, you may send a prosecutor from your nation to take part in the trial against the Rygardi soldiers.

If the victims’ families or you need anything, do not hestiate to ask it.

Sincerely,

A message from Rygard arrives:

— Begin quote from ____

To The Hon. Sinéad Jones, P.C., M.P., Ph.D of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kelssek,

I apologize for the confusion.  However, you misunderstand our objectives.  The Armed Republic of Rygard has a long history of fighting for the freedoms of other nations.  We Rygardi are an ordered and disciplined people who have no tolerance for chaotic systems of government.  When Merrill Rivers fled Vulshain after being unjustly overthrown by the Confederate Resistance who then restored their autocratic queen to the throne, our nation was on the verge of civil war.

Merrill Rivers and his followers saved our nation from itself by eliminating those who would destroy our ordered society.  Because of him, our economy not only recovered, but also boomed like we have never seen before.  He and his followers got rid of the oppressive noble houses, ending their rules forever.  We owe much to him, his children, and his followers for saving our nation from falling into chaos.

There is, however, something that puzzles not only me, but my fellow Rygardi as well: why do you tolerant the Lobos and Vulpines? I do not understand nor can I see any reason why you would treat these canines as humanity’s equals.  If you have an answer, I would be most interested in knowing why.

From the desk of Anton Dubchevik, Chief Executive Officer of the Veranian Conglomerate, and the Board of Directors
To: Samuil Rainard, King of Vulshain

Dear King Rainard,

Belated congratulations on your coronation, and your ascension to the throne of Vulshain. The Veranian Conglomerate has recently established itself within the world as a national entity, and we would like to invite you to enjoy a meal at our capital, and perhaps enjoy the many scenes that the native wilderness of Verania has to offer.

We hope that this message finds you in good faith, and we extend our arms in sincerest generosity. We live in tumultuous times, it would seem, and I believe a respite would be the best, perhaps for all of us.

Cordially,
Anton Dubchevik

OOC: Hello all, this is my first RP. Vulshain was generous enough to invite me to the RP, and I hope I can get along with you all. I do apologize if anything seems… out of place. I’ve read through the thread and it is still all settling down. Please notify me if something seems wrong.

Dear Anton Dubchevik, Chief Executive Officer of the Veranian Conglomerate, and the Board of Directors,

His Majesty, King Samuil Rainard, would be glad to attend a meal with you and your staff.  While there are some in our nation who are suspicious of your nation, mainly due to the fact that a corporation runs the state, the people of Vulshain would be honored to call you and your nation our friends and allies.

There is the concern of safety as two assassins made attempts on our king.  One was a human protester who tried to attack His Majesty on his coronation day, but King Rainard personally defended himself from such a vile action.  The second attempt was made by a hitman hired by the criminal organization, the Bossman Gang, and various insurgent and terrorist organizations such as the Republican Armed Liberation Army (RALA), Unified Freedom Liberator Front (UFLF), and the Anti-Royalist Liberation Army (ARLA).  The king was unharmed, but three innocent people were injured, two of who risked their lives to protect our king from harm.

Some of these terrorist and insurgent groups were supplied and funded by the Armed Republic of Rygard, a nation that we are currently at war with, although King Rainard had hoped to end the hostility peacefully, but the Rygardi leader, Presidential Viceroy Archibald Rivers, son of former and ousted Vulshainian fascist dictator Merrill Rivers, refused to accept our offers of peace, and declared war on us, as well as the Holy Republic of Vekaiyu, the Star Empire of Malaysia, United Provinces of Southern Yugoslavia, and the Federated Alliance of Free Pacific States.

The Armed Republic of Rygard is known for its hatred and discrimination towards sentient Canine races, such as Lobos and Vulpines, races that make up the vast majority of the populations of Vulshain, Southern Yugoslavia, and Vekaiyu.

Rygard has also funded and supported pirates attacking our ships.  The Ministry of Defense would like to know if you would like to aid our Confederate Navy in defending our ships from acts of piracy.  Such acts of terrorism and piracy have no place in a civilized world, and all nations who seek peace must stand fast against those who would support and carry out such deplorable actions.

King Rainard, along with his sister and Confederate Premier, Cecilia Rainard, will travel to your nation after they visit both Vekaiyu and Listonia, before they travel to Allegheny.

The Confederacy of Vulshain looks forward to furthering relations between our two nations.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Adalberto Spencer, Chief Prime Minister of the Confederacy of Vulshain
