Fægerhæfen, Tretrid
7:35 PM
Mildhild stepped off of the train and onto the platform. She walked for what seemed like ages, treading a path that had long become familiar to her. After walking out through the front gate of the station, she ended up at a long line of bicycle racks. She eventually found her own bicycle and unlocked it using a key in her pocket.
The station was generally a safe place to leave a bicycle. She was pretty sure that they assigned a security guard to this place specifically to prevent any from getting stolen, since that would certainly mess up someone’s commute.
After a fair bit of biking through the streets of Fægerhæfen, she eventually reached her apartment complex. With another key, she opened up a door into a garage under the apartment, where she locked her bicycle on a set of racks to her right. She then walked over to an elevator on the far end of the space and rode it up to her floor. She navigated the hallways until she reached the door of her apartment. She unlocked the door and walked inside.
She emptied the contents of her pockets onto a nearby table and crashed down on a couch that faced a TV. She grabbed the remote and turned it on. Hopefully something interesting.
It was the news. CHTV was reporting on some scandal surrounding some Sigested city council member. It was always Sigested.
The report finished up, and the camera cut back to the anchorman.
“On other news, Team Tretrid is preparing for its first match in the Great Novaran Cup, scheduled for tomorrow.”
Oh, right, the football cup.
The camera cut to some reporter in the stands of whatever stadium was being used to host Tretrid’s home games. As the reporter talked, a graphic showed up on the screen, showing the matches Tretrid had in the group stage and the dates they were to happen on. Tretrid’s first match, against Meagharia, was indeed scheduled for tomorrow.
Mildhild would be genuinely surprised if Meagharia won the match, since, well, there was a reason why Tretrid was running a sapientarian aid program there. With how war-torn the place was, it was a wonder that they even had any safe places to practice the game.
Though again, quite frankly, Team Tretrid wasn’t the best. They showed poorly in the World Cup Qualifiers in 2022, and there weren’t many indications that they would do better this year.
You know what? Maybe she should find out along with the rest of the world. She could always watch it live online.
