Hi, I'm new here.

Hi, my name is Nathaniel and I stumbled upon nation-states while using the web page Stumble Upon and loved the idea of this on-line game. I am a 19 year old male, born in England but brought up in Madrid, Spain since I was 3 years old. So you could say I am Spanish or European since I don’t feel I belong to any nation though I do have a mixed culture which could be considered European but I prefer to be considered a citizen of the world as I am not nationalistic at all. Anyway, I am a student at Sussex University in the UK, in my second year, and I am studying International Relations and Development Studies so obviously loved this politically themed game. My nation is going to be based on my socialist ideals but I am very lost right now as to what to do. I have answered an issue about democracy but have no idea about the rest of the game and how it functions. I don’t even know if this region which I didn’t chose is the right one for me and my political views. I kept getting telegrams about joining forums and things. Anyway, I hope this game is as good as it seems and I hope to keep learning from it as I discuss issues here.

Regards,
Nathaniel.

… No one answers me on this forum, is it dead? Not feeling very welcome here!

Oh jeez, how did I miss this?!

Anyways… Belated Welcome Nathaniel. Please feel free to peruse to forums and get to know everyone… It’s been kinda busy with elections and all.

BRAAAAAINS!!

Welcome to our forums! Yeah, initially when someone starts the game, everything looks new and maybe a little confusing. But trust me, you’re in a good region  . Probably one of the best for newer members, but equally good if you’re an old timer and anything in between. Those telegrams you’re getting, they are spum. I won’t tell you what to do with them, but I will say that I think our region has very much.

Probably the most important thing we have here is a sense of community. We’re not a discombobulated group of people who just tolerate one another, we’ve got a real community here, and it’s available to any and all who are seeking that. Nothing is ever perfect, but as a person who had been a sort of a journeyman before coming here, trust me when I say this place is special.

That being said, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! We’ll get you some answers!

When you first create a region, it drops into one of (I think) seven “feeder” regions - basically the regions that new nations get created in. The East Pacific is one of them. Feel free to move around regions and find one that suits your tastes - your nation is your nation!

Here a belated welcome from Kandorith, just been so busy lately. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s better!! Is there a part in the forum to ask questions specifically about the game or do I just ask anywhere? And to know each other? I suppose i can start here anyway since I have introduced my self, what about you? Where are you from? What do you do? How did you get to know the game? How old are you? etc.

Who changes the writing under the avatars? and the signatures? Thought that was pretty funny though I haven’t done it hahaha.

Well, most people pucker their lips slightly and blow out, but then there is the two finger method, and some people can use their hand to make awesome noises…

Welcome belatedly to TEP! The most awesomest thing about Nationstates is you pretty much decide what you want to get out of it. Some people love the Role Playing aspect, some people like being part of the regional government, and some people just like saying hi in the lounge and playing games. Generally speaking I would say the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

One thing I’d like to tell you though; There are some great regions out there, but I believe you will be very hard pressed to find one better than The East Pacific. We have something for everyone, are very inclusive and I would say friendly, and just have a great group of people who are ready and willing to talk/debate/teach/play with.

Anyhow, I hope you like what you find here!
