Those of you who use AIM have probably noticed that I’m on it a whole lot. On any given day, you can probably log on and find me at some point. Those of you who use MSN or (certain channels of) IRC have probably noticed the same thing, albeit less so.
Lately it’s come to my attention that I have terrible time management skills. When I was a sophomore in a community college, that didn’t really matter, but as a senior in a program that no sane person could call easy, that’s not acceptable anymore, and I’ve had to take a serious look at the amount of time I spend online.
That’s not to say I blame NS and other sites I visit. The amount of time I spend actively doing the things I actually do here is surprisingly small. I’ve come to realize just how much time I spend online is spent, for lack of a better word, dawdling. One of the major culprits of that problem is IMs. Most time I spend using IMs is in purely idle conversations and I don’t log off when I should.
So, if you’re one of the people who uses these things a lot, you’re not going to be seeing me on IM services anywhere near as often anymore. If I’m on, it probably means I’m looking to talk to some specific person about a specific topic. This does not mean I’ll be less active on NS. I love this site and its people, and I won’t be leaving or going inactive any time in the foreseeable future. However, if you want to talk to me and IMs aren’t completely necessary, please send a PM, a forum post, a telegram, or (if you’re one of the very few people who has my phone number) a call.
