I’ve been floating around NationStates since 2005, albeit on a number of other nations outside TEP, but after running the same nation for a decade I’m looking for a new RP experience and figured I’d give one of the Pacifics a go. Believe it or not, sometimes you start to lose steam once you’ve had a nation around for so long that they’re an acknowledged military and economic hyperpower.
So I’m here to try something different: Playing as a tiny island full of backward harmless people who think “economic development” means buying a bigger catamaran to catch a few more tuna.

How did you find NationStates?
Honestly, I can’t even remember. It’s been forever. It’s lost in the haze that was mid-university life.
How long have you played NationStates?
I actually went back and checked, and it turns out I rolled my first nation in April 2005. It is a figure that makes me physically cringe with both terror and mirth.
What inspired the name of your nation?
Wanamon is pretty explicitly an economically backward Pacific island full of sun-soaked villagers, so I trolled through comparable real-world cultures and sounded out a bunch of names that seemed to suit that sort of a culture.
Have you joined the World Assembly?
I generally do not. I don’t have much interest in that side of the game.
What country are you from?
Canadia, eh.
Do you like watching the news?
I was a journalist once upon a time. I have a pathological addiction to the news.
Do you like studying the government?
Depends on how frustrating our elected leaders are being today, but studying the government is basically my day job.
