Prime Minister condemns Rufuina and boycotts Fargo Summit
Prime Minister Arngrímur Sigurdarson has condemned Rufuina for their blunt assault of civil and political freedoms after the dictatorship on the north of the border invaded and has claimed to have full control of Puntalia. Their excuse: “communist conspiracy”.
The conspiracy has been independently investigated from intelligence teams in Lokania and Great Morstaybishlia and no evidence has been found to link a communist takeover of the Puntalian Government that Rufuina claims to have been orchestrated by the Urthian Workers’ Internationale. Prime Minister Arngrímur Sigurdarson has stated in a press conference that “this violation of democracy is simply an excuse to waver their brute force around and try to prove to the world that they are owed something.”
The Lokanian Embassy in Rufuina has since informed all Lokanian citizens residing in Rufuina or Puntalia to return home immediately, this follows an escalation of tension in the region where the North Shield Treaty Organisation and Union of Commonwealth Alliances are threatening Rufuina with a Puntalian no-fly zone and blockade.
However, the suspected NSTO-UCA invasion was halted after Prime Minister Franklin Barvata of Great Morstaybishlia attempted to mediate the situation. His fast response to the incident has seen the Morstaybishlian Home Fleet deployed to Arcturia from Xenliada, near Redrugus, the fleets objective is simple; they have established a large maritime perimeter between the NSTO-UCA forces, which arrived soon thereafter, and Rufuina.
Great Morstaybishlia has made it very obvious their intention to de-escalate the rising tensions, but some have called out Barvata for protecting the alleged war crimes Rufuinan “Supreme” President Mark Hanlon has committed over the week. Prime Minister Arngrímur Sigurdarson in his press conference has announced he does not wish to disrupt the mediation process of Great Morstaybishlia but believes that if no peaceful resolution comes about that Lokania will be committing forces to a joint NSTO-UCA intervention. The Prime Minister has also stated that alongside Norgsveldet, Lokania will be boycotting the Fargo Summit and not sending any dignitaries, preferring the summit to be held in a neutral country such as Great Morstaybishlia, Dragonia or Peregrinia.
Later in the week a massive development came about. Superpower of Yasteria Packilvania sent an entire fleet to support Rufuina alongside over seven hundred thousand men. The sheer amount of forces that Packilvania has committed is a testament to the abilities of the NSTO-UCA alliance. The future is clouded, but as developments are made the Lokanian Television News will keep the people of Lokania updated.

Lokanian fighter jets intercept Rodenian aircraft near airspace
Three LAF twinjet multirole air superiority fighter jets were scrambled in the early hours of the morning to intercept Rodenian military aircraft operating in international airspace near Lokanian airspace. The Lokanian aircraft launched from LAF Jawestown and was joined by a refuelling jet from LAF Arinville which provided air-to-air refuelling.
Two Rodenian aircraft were intercepted. After hostilities between Lokania and Rodenia in the Puntalian Crisis it is essential that their movements are carefully monitored when operating close to Lokanian airspace.
To deter this unprofessional activity and mitigate the risks associated with Rodenian military aircraft flying in this busy international airspace, LAF multirole fighter jets shadowed the two Rodenian fighters and closely monitored their movements.
Norgsveldet, operating in a forward base in South Peragen launched their quick reaction alert assets to assist in monitoring the Rodenian aircraft. Controllers from LAF Jawestown coordinated the mission, liaising with UCA partners at the Air Operations Centre in South Peragen.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER COCAINE BUST
Authorities in Gronmund Port have seized 11.5 tonnes of cocaine in a record haul of the drug in Lokania, according to customs officials. A 43-year-old owner of an import company in the city was arrested early this morning. Police searched three premises, two in the port city and another in a nearby town. The drugs were all bound for the same destination in Lokania police said. “These mega-shipments into our country break all the records. We have never seen so much cocaine intercepted at once.” police said in a statement.
Lokanian officers discovered the haul hidden in containers from Tavaris in Port Gronmund following a tip off from a local. Investigations are underway by authorities to find more. When customs officers took a closer look at the Tavari containers they noticed “clear irregularities” with the contents, with crates that were supposed to be filled with chocolate. Instead they found cocaine under a layer of genuine goods, with an estimate street value of 700 million to 1.5 billion Kiribs, depending on the extent to which the drug would have been cut with other substances.
This is not the first time drugs have been seized by customs officials, with the majority of them coming from Gondwanan nations like Tavaris, Lunaria, the Ni-Rao’s and Bana.

LOKANIA JOINS UCA EXERCISES
The Defence Ministry has put in a statement to the press their intention to participate in the upcoming UCA military exercises in the Sokalan Sea this month.
The exercise, officially designated as the Tulungan Exercise, will take place on the 9th of July, less than one week from now, and will involve a number of UCA members. It will be the single most culminated UCA exercise in the 21st century, and will focus around streamlining tactics in the protection and security of New Puntalia, which has recently seen crisis as early as a year ago.
Deployed to the training will be ten thousand troops, four frigates, two corvettes, two submarines; 6 twinjet multirole air superiority fighters, an undisclosed number of attack and support helicopters and reconnaissance.
On top of this, the Defence Ministry has expressed their three year naval plan, which involves constructing four new submarines, a new frigate - which will be the first one constructed in Lokania in 19 years - and five new patrol boats. At the same time, the 12 missile boats will be phased out by 2025.

GOVERNMENT AWARDS ZAPNA WITH GRAND RAIL PROJECT
The government has announced today a contract with Morstaybishlian construction firm Zapna to build a new state-of-the-art high-speed train network to link five major Lokanian coastal cities: Jawlestown, Arinport, Gronmund Port, Thurloe and Saomere, and the capital Efraford. It will be built by Zapna at their factories in Gronmund Port and Arkhiston, Valeria, to support approximately 1,700 jobs across Lokania and 1,200 in Valeria. The first train is anticipated to finish production around 2026, with passengers expected to use the service somewhere between 2028 and 2032, following a rigorous process of testing and commissioning.
The trains will be entirely designed in Valeria, but assembling will primarily occur in Gronmund Port, with a minor role in construction being taken place in factories in Arkhiston before being shipped to Lokania. This ambitious construction project is expected to support jobs in factories across the Lokanian coast, the Valerian city belt, as well as factory supply chains, including ample opportunity for apprentices and young people. The finished project is expected to be the fastest and lowest carbon per passenger kilometre trains of their kind in southern Arcturia, decreasing environmental impacts and helming an effort for general decarbonisation in the transport industry.
The project is the governments biggest ever public investment in rail, and will see the coastal cities all connected under one unified rail network for the first time, with private rail groups previously not agreeing to universal travel across Lokania under one central network, which made commuting from Jawlestown to Saomere impossible without changing over at three rail networks at great expense. Now, people would be able to travel from north to south Lokania in one trip, faster, more frequently, and more reliably than ever under the integrated rail network.

AXDEL WITHDRAWS FROM PUNTALIAN COMPROMISE TREATY
President Mr Corbinn withdrew Axdel from the Puntalian Compromise Treaty this morning as he describes the ordeal as “a failure of the treaty to normalise the geopolitical situation of South Arcturia”. He cricised its ally Morstaybishlia and also Packilvania for propping up the dictatorship and ignoring the negative cost it was having on the wellbeing of the surrounding countries and their people. Axdel sent apart of its western fleet to naval institutions in Tawuse and the Kolstream Isles. In retaliation, Kirk Santon told Axdel they should “reconsider their tactics” and that “Axdel probably want to invade us so they can have their own communist nuclear power plant blow up and spoil all of our food supply, our water supply and give everyone cancer. Is that what we want?”
In response, Norgsveldet is the first other nation to pull out of the treaty, and other nations have shown support for Axdel. Rodenia mobilised some of its navy to patrol its territorial waters.

NORGSVELTIAN EMBASSY BUILDING BOMBED
Shocking news out of Efraford in the last hour as the terrorist organisation the White Hand claimed responsibility for a major bombing of the Norgsveltian embassy building, killing 98 people, including Norgsveltian Ambassador Yvonne Nordrum, and injuring over a hundred more at 12:58 UTC+1. Efraford metropolitan police have sanctioned off the surrounding areas and evacuated people from the immediate area, with the terrorist threat level being raised from Zero to Critical Threat; which means another attack is highly likely.
The White Hand is a ultra-capitalist society within Lokania comprising of an estimated 2 million members that affiliates with extreme capitalism and supports Kirk Santon’s ultracapitalist regime. The White Hand was labelled as a terrorist organisation in 1999 following the Osterlicsh embassy bombing. However, despite the White Hand supporting Rodenia’s regime, the Lokanian government says there’s no reason to believe the Norgsveltian embassy bombing was instigated or promoted by the Rodenian government after Kirk Santon responded, criticising the attack for further escalating tensions in the region.
Lokanian police have apprehended two suspects of the bombing, both Staynish speaking men in their early 20s and both verified members of the White Hand. The prime minister has described this as “an intolerable and sad act” and reitterated Lokania’s commitments as a UCA member state. It is believed the prime minister has made contact with Johanna Sverdrup about this topic, though any conversation has yet to be released to the public.
