Maladh Al-Taajir was founded long ago as a trading outpost for an empire that no longer exists. It is the sole remainder of this once vast nation. Being a relatively small entity, they have spent most of history as a protectorate of more powerful empires. (Who exactly has not been fully discussed yet, but it’s likely that Korm played a part in this, then someone else, and then it later had some bilateral agreements with Tivot.) In the modern day, Maladh Al-Taajir is an independent nation. It is not as important of a port of commerce as it once was and is struggling to find its place in the world.
