Endorsement caps are a necessity of any feeder, however, higher endorsement caps tend to be associated with more democratic regions.
As of right now, the West Pacific has an endorsement cap of 80 (matching ours), however, their delegate Rolheath only has 126 endorsements, while Todd McCloud has 180 endorsements.
I think a good rule of thumb is the endorsement cap should be at least half of the delegate’s current endorsements.
If we look at the West Pacific, we see that their current endorsement cap is 63.5% of the total endorsements of the delegate.
To further illustrate this point I provide my esteemed citizens of the East Pacific the following numbers.
Region Name - Current Delegate Endorsements - Current Endo Cap - # of Cap
The Pacific - 88 - None listed (you have to make requests to endo), essentially 0%
The West Pacific - 126 - 80 - 63.5%
The South Pacific - 146 - None listed
The North Pacific - 158 - 120 - 75.9%
The East Pacific - 180 - 80 - 44.4%
I was a little surprised the South Pacific and Pacific don’t list them, and the numbers have definitely changed since I actually thought about this.
So, we got the following..
The East Pacific - 180 - 80 - 44.4%
The West Pacific - 126 - 80 - 63.5%
The North Pacific - 158 - 120 - 75.9%
We currently stand at the bottom, not counting the Pacific or South Pacific.
I would like to start a discussion on this.
The Pacific has an endocap of 25; The South Pacific has a ‘lose’ endocap of 40%.
There really isn’t any reason to do this…TNP and TWP can afford it because of FEC, GBM, Bite, todler, etc.
We really don’t have any people with influence THAT high
There is no reason to gather endorsements besides a takeover attempt. As far as I am concerned there is, similarly, no reason to raise the cap to accommodate such swappers. There would be no harm in lowering it, really.
I cannot speak for others, but I personally want to see my nation with a cool name as my status (ie: Guardian, Duckspeaker, whatnot)
Just a thought, I really wanted to promote discussion.
Dyr Nasad, unless the Constitution changed (and it is fairly possible in the West Pacific), Biteland is a Guardian and allowed to go over the cap.
I’m not sure, but I think they threw out the Guardian system…which was a very solid system of protection.
first - guardian is a TWP position that does not exist here (while duckspeaker is an influence level)
second - I said that they can afford a higher (percent wise) cap because of the powerful influence of certain members, regardless of whether or not those members have to follow the cap
We aren’t TWP…so we arent going to have their system
-plus, Kandarin is correct
I was referring to influence rankings Dyr Nasad, REPEAT, I was referring to influence rankings.
Here’s the list.

The ordering of national influence rankings is as follows:
1. Hermit
2. Hegemony
3. Dominator
4. Superpower
5. Power
6. Powerbroker
7. Eminence Grise
8. Enforcer
9. Dealmaker
10. Instigator
11. Contender
12. Negotiator
13. Auxiliary
14. Ambassador
15. Diplomat
16. Envoy
17. Duckspeaker
18. Handshaker
19. Truckler
20. Vassal
21. Minnow

Apparently Guardian isn’t there, well I’d like to see a title like Diplomat or Envoy, sounds a lot better than Minnow.
I never said we should be another region, simply that other regions tend to have higher caps and the values certain regions tend to espouse.
Well… I guess you could try. Freedom Fascists has been here since the end of spring and is a truckler, though, but he’s been having problems with me and keeping his endorsements in check. I’ve been here since January, having the highest endorsements since then, and have only gone up to negotiator (though that’s good enough for second in the region).

and that should solve some of these problems, I would love to see that happen.
I still support dropping it to 3, there is no reason to seek more endo than 3, all you need to submit UN resolutions is 2,

True, but the moment I instigate something like that, I can kiss being re-elected goodbye, lol. I’d say lower it to sixty, but I pretty much left that up to this term’s Magisterium to figure it out.
Charlotte Ryberg didn’t have a bad idea either…

If the influence text labels had to be retained due to coding issues, I was thinking of something less controversial, such as… simply “resident”.

God knows how NS influence system works… I spent 2 years as a minnow, then i got from vassal to truckler in 2 months…
As for the endo cap, i think we could lower it to 70 and see if it works.
I personally think the cap should be kept at 50% of the total number of delegate endorsements and updated either monthly or bimonthly.
There’s three basic fields of thought on this.
- Raising the cap is unnecessary.
- Getting endorsements is purely for vanity.
- Keep the cap the way it is or raise it plus/minus 10.
The only way you really need to look at endorsements is the following, how many endorsements makes a nation a security risk. What makes someone a risk?
There’s no way someone would be a security risk at 50% of the endorsements of the delegate. The delegate has a well-protected cache of endorsements from inactive nations, and despite what new nations can do, they will never get those endorsements.
You can tell if someone is trying to go for the delegate seat, those people are obvious risks and shouldn’t be tolerated, but if we look at the old numbers given almost four months ago…we still rank at the bottom.
Where does this elitist idea come from that getting a respectable number of endorsements is wrong and that only 1-3 people should be able to collect endorsements? I remember when the Atlantic ran the West Pacific, and even they were more tolerant of letting people keep rather large amounts of endorsements (and closely monitored such people), but they allowed it nevertheless.
Perhaps I’m just preaching to the choir and am the only person in this forum, and this region who feels this way.
A set endocap is something we decided upon when writing the Concordat for the region. The rationale behind it is the following: it prevents nations to go from over the cap, to under, to over, to under, etc during updates. It also makes it a solid line: eighty is the magical number here, and it hasn’t changed since I’ve taken office. People have asked me to raise it, people have asked me to lower it. I personally would like to lower it, as there’s really no reason to be close or over the cap in this region. It takes forever to gain influence and, even so, someone who is trying to continuously gain influence in the region looks a little suspicious.
So I sent you the telegram I normally send nations that are over the cap: you can view it in the endo list thread in the Executive sub-forum. I’ve never had to eject or ban someone for being over the cap under that system, and I don’t think that will change. But, it’s important to keep a system and not go lax on it: such things can lead to troubles. Plus, it’s a part of my job in the region. I am to monitor where people are in the region, to prevent an empire-like meltdown. That isn’t to say it’s probable to happen, or that you’re wanting to do that, but again, it’s what I have to do in the region.
There is no reason to gather endorsements besides a takeover attempt. Unless you’re a Vizier or want to be Delegate, you only need two. Those that want to see a shiny rank by their nation name are welcome to move their nations elsewhere.
Furthermore, every nation besides the Delegate and Viziers who has substantial Influence reduces the Influence available to those nations. Vanity titles hurt the effectiveness of the region. If I were in charge of making the rules, the cap would be far lower, not higher.
