TENSIONS BETWEEN KEEP AND PARAPET MOUNT
MILITARY FACES OFF WITH LEGISLATION IN HEATED DEBATE

FREE CITY, F.D. Two days previously, the Congress of the Keep voted to join with the union of nations known as the East Pacific, adopting its Concordat. However, the number of votes cast in favor of the motion was only barely enough to pass - and now Congressman Reynolds, spokesperson for the Republican party, is attempting to have the resolution overturned.
“This motion was suggested in haste and it was passed in haste,” said the Congressman in a speech to Congress this morning. “There was no time for proper debate, and many members of Congress feel that President Brandon and Commander Logan pushed the legislation through so quickly in a deliberate attempt to keep any real discussion from happening… This Concordat’s costs outweigh its benefits.”
Congressman Reynolds further asserted that the Concordat reduced Fabricati Diem’s autonomy and crippled the country’s ability to do business outside its borders by making it subject to East Pacific law.
A motion to remove Fabricati Diem from citizenship in the East Pacific has now been brought to the Congress. Debate on this issue is expected to begin later this morning.
Commander Logan responded by exercising his power, as president of the Parapet Armed Forces governmental branch, to address Congress in defense of the Concordat’s ratification.
“This is not a matter which should ever have been in any doubt,” he said. “The East Pacific’s Concordat places us in a relationship with all the countries around us. It eases trade and diplomacy. It can bring us allies in times of war. And, despite Congressman Reynolds’ misgivings, it does not reduce our autonomy.”
