Visiting Lazlowia Again

“I understand, and believe me, I was just as shocked as you are now. However, since she is engaged to my step grandson, I have to give her the benefit of a doubt. To be honest, I don’t believe she is a honest-to-goodness communist, although she is extremely knowledgable about communism and its various branches. I believe she is more of a populist than a communist. But she does support the cause of communism, but like you, I have doubts of an aristocrat being a supporter of communism. Still, I have to tolerate her since she will become part of my family, so nothing I can do about that I’m afraid.” He thought for a moment. “However, the nobility of Vulshain rarely oppressed their workers. I said rarely, that doesn’t mean that they didn’t do it all. Anyhow, Vulshain has always been proud and supportive of its workers. In fact, one of our monarchs even married a socialist, whose philosophies and ideals greatly influenced his attitudes towards socialism and the rights of the workers.” He waited for a response from his hosts.

"-Sir, you must understand, that nepotism is ethically unacceptable. - Preusz said, fuming - “Regardless of familiar ties, if someone doesn’t deserve the position, especially in these uncertain times, then that person must be passed over for someone, who is competent, reliable and gets the position for his own merit, not because of support from the family. Your excuse is unacceptable not only for a communist, but also as a democratic politican. One has to wonder what the supporters of you party think about you, peddling with your daughter-in-law. And the fact, that you are now also disclaiming class stuggle, one of the core tenets of communism, and idea that was laid down by Marx, is tantamount to treason of the movement. The naivety of you believing the fairy tale of the poor girl teaching the king in humanity and whatnot is pure humbug. Under these circumstances, I fail to see any possibility of co-operation.”

OOC: Okay…That was harsh.

IC:

Akim smiled. “It seems that Lazlowia is in good hands. And yes, I do believe in class struggle. Besides, you might be right. I’m getting old, and it’s probably time for me to retire. I hope my successor is to your liking.” He then excused himself to leave.

OOC: His successor follows Khrushchevism and Titoism. Also, Akim is senile if you haven’t figured that out yet.

OCC: You haven’t convinced me. If you haven’t figured that out yet.

Akim was escorted out of the building. The meeting certainly didn’t help anything. The lazlowians hoped, that by helping the vulshainian communist to power, they might make one of their obstacles docile. But the meeting revealed, that not only the party is corrupted from the inside, but also that Vulshain was becoming a dictatorship.

A few weeks later, on November 6th, Preusz succeded Lazlow as president of Lazlowia. It was relayed to the vulshainian communists, that for the time being there’s no interest in another meeting. At the same time, Preusz made arrangements to visit Sevropia. But that’s a different story.
