What is this all about?

Okay. So, there seems to be a huge difference between a resident of TEP and a citizen of TEP. Residents live on nationstates.net and citizens on theeastpacific.com. However, apparently all things concerning theeastpacific.com are posted as telegrams in nationstates.net. Very confusing. Why don’t you keep these two completely apart? It may be completely clear for those who are here already for years, but not so for newbie’s, and it has already lead to me being ignored and being treated with disregard here.

Now there was a new telegram (in nationstates.net of course) in which people were sought to fill in the vacancy of a minister of design, or something like that. Not that I am willing to apply, or would even closely be capable of such a function, but it has lead to me reconsidering citizenship. However, before applying, I would like to know what is in it for me. Why should I apply? What does it bring me? Can I get a view of what I would receive by becoming a citizen - screenshots or a live view?

I am not planning on installing discord as I do not plan to chat and I think that two different forums for one game should already be sufficient. (I already had my questions about a second forum, but that is water under the bridge now.) Would applying for citizenship make sense without discord?

So, what is a TEP citizen? What does he do? Why? Where? What does it look like? What does he get from it? Does it affect nationstates as well? And why is it so hard to get this information before one decides to become a citizen or not?

I am willing to give this a second chance. Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

I’ll use myself as an example. I’m a resident (or native) of The East Pacific region (NationStates) but I’m also a citizen of The East Pacific regional government (organized on the forum). The reason why they are so heavily intertwined is because you can think of NS as our territory and this forum as our Capitol. It’s how we stay organized with regional and foreign affairs between regions. TEP is also known as the roleplay region, so we try to advertise as much as we can, but the primary focus between here and NS is the regional government.

As a citizen you get the right to vote, representation in the legal system (ex: you can’t be banned from the region without due process) become a member of the different branches and offices of government, vote in Delegate elections, and access to fully participate in the roleplay section. You also get the ability to edit your posts. As a general list. I don’t think your current view is that much different because we want everyone to view but only certain areas you are permitted to fully post.

I have great news about Discord… You can use it from the web browser! No instillation needed. We have people that use Discord and those that do not use Discord. We’ve always used an additional chat service from AOL Chatrooms when I started to Skype and now Discord and all the ones in between. It gives a more live communication and helps with planning events with the EPSA or within the roleplay community. But it’s not a requirement but really just additional tools for our community.

I think I answered everything in this one above. To why it is so hard to find information, it is likely from the nature of the game, and that is something as a region we should work on. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know!

I don’t think your current view is that much different

Well, problem no. 1 is, I haven’t got a “current view”.
However, after following some links from around here to NS-dispatches which link back to other places on this forum which link to other NS-dispatches which link back here, I finally found a sub-sub-forum here called “Evolved”.
If this section is what it is all about, then why make it so hard to find? Why give it such inconclusive name? There’s some kind of menubar on top of this forum (when using the dark theme) showing “Roleplay” and “The Game” among others. However “The Game” just leads to some kind of cartoon offsite and “Roleplay” doesn’t lead to … oh wait, it does, but is named differently (i.e. “In Character”) in the pull-down menu.

Yeah, I’ve taken a glance over the topics in that section, and I think it isn’t my cup of coffee. I already have a hard time getting my head around something like Dungeons and Dragons. Thanks for your kind and extensive answer, though.
