I actually had another nation, which was created a few days before this one, that consisted of my last name, but after reading the boards, thought that maybe it wasn’t the best thing in the world to have. So in looking around, I saw several corporate based nations, namely The Resi Corporation, and decided that’s what I’d model my nation after.
But being incredibly uncreative at the time, I decided to opt for a RL corporation, preferably a defense contractor, which I could turn into an NS one. Eventually I got it worked down between General Dynamics and Northrop Grumman, and opted for the latter because it worked better for defining the people. Grummians as opposed to…uh…Dynamicians(?). So that’s where I am today.
Now, as for my puppet that’s sitting in TEP right now, P4X-582, that was brought on by a near obsession with Stargate SG-1 at the time and I had wanted to follow the same alphanumeric designations for my planets. (That didn’t last long)
EDIT: Oh blast, I forgot about where my flag comes from. Well, for 6 years, I basically ripped off the RL NG’s logo from their website, and finally this past January or so, Tsaraine offered to make me a better flag for using around NS.
If you look in the original thread I’m pretty sure I put the origin of my nation there, but not my flag. That came from my interests at the time, namely colourful pastel things and snails
Nadir reversed makes Ridan, added the extra n for no apparent reason. Orginally was considering Zenith but Thinez sounds too similar to the PAX FRUIT chips brand.
The sun in my flag represents the new day the red represents the blood spilt to achieve it.
Not sure where Veerilion came from, just had it on my mind when i was making my nation on NS. Coat of arms and flag that i use current is something that i made after exsperimentating for a while.
Well, “Raziel” is the name of a fallen angel in the computer-based game “Soulreaver”.
Now i find out that "Raziel (Heb. רזיאל “Secret[s] of God”), is an archangel within the teachings of Jewish mysticism (of the Kabbalah of Judaism) who is the “Keeper of Secrets” and the “Angel of Mysteries.”… which is (methink) the place where Soulreaver took it from.
rEziel is the way i was reminding it when i created the account.
The avatar… well, i was looking for something based on an angel… that’s it. Archangel from the X-men saga. Slowly, i found out both the name and the avatar were aligned with what is a main issue in my nation’s background, i.e. the presence of a dark creature inside a number of my characters.[/s]
My nations name came from the obscurity of my mind. I created it when I was thirteen (wow, that was almost ten years ago now… crazy.) and I believe it was more or less a random combination of letters that made a pleasant-ish sounding name. My current flag is what I want the overall feeling of my nation to be: serenity, beauty, companionship. My forum name is the chosen name for the leader of my nation, not very original, simply my last name.
… I really need to come up with some more interesting stories to go along with my nation!!
My name is Warren, as anyone who knows me well enough knows. Combine that with the fact my user name on the internet is typically “Warr”, or “Warrius”, and neither sounded “Nationy”, I chose to drop the n from my name, and thus create “Warre.”
Well, I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, and lived in Pennsylvania for two years and returned to Fort Lauderdale after that. I just stuck to the name Penndale ever since.
Then there’s the flag. First off, the giant panther in the center. It’s our national animal. I don’t know why, I picked it randomly when I first registered for NationStates. The six stars represent the six districts:
Dalerod, Okonedo, West Penndale, Bentham, Attenbourough, and Penndale Island.
I made my flag on MS Paint. It’s not actually a bad program.
Well you see… East Malaysia… self explanatory. I wanted a more real nation name and so I found one. Now many years later, I have discovered being more creative would fit in with playing humanoid species from another world. But I’m happy with it being East Malaysia = the translation, so it’s all good
