Historical Summary: In 1812, The Kingdom of Zhæl was granted independence from the Zoål Empire. This was following large protests by the people, and The Zoål Flag Burning of 1811. King Herleif Gunvaldsen IV officially announced the independence of the Zhæl state (modern day Zhæl, Phaus and Kahl), which officially became The Kingdom of Zhæl. Under the rule of its popular queen, Zhæl became an economic powerhouse and quickly became one of the wealthiest countries on Urth.

In 1819, The State of Fhål became independent (taking modern day Fhål State, Løvd State and Hæl State), this happened after a two-day war with The Zoål Empire over rights and free speech. In 1820, Fhål held its first ever elections, a landmark moment for Thøn and its history. By 1854, Fhål had grown its economy by 300% since its independence, the streets of Fhål filled with happy workers and the day was officially proclaimed a public holiday, Zhaj Day (translated to Rich Day).

In 1871, officials from Fhål and Zhæl met to discuss the prospect of merging their countries to form a federation. A vote was held the following year about whether they would merge, the state of Kahl was the only one to vote “no” (53%-47%) confirming the merger. On June the 5th of 1874, The Federation of Thøn was proclaimed independent, with parliament being held in Fhål and the country being divided into six autonomous states.

In 1932, Hæl Independence groups violently protested through Hølla’s city streets, but a vote suggested that the majority of Hæl wanted to stay as a part of Thøn.
