A Necessary Evil

A Necessary Evil

A 2006 News Clip:“…In other news, Remis Posol, founder and CEO of Posol Industries, has just announced the acquisition of Regen Goods, a major rival of Posol Industries, for 15 Billion Kiribs, or 20 Billion KCR.”
…

This was good news. Posol Industries had officially blown all competition out of the water, with Posol Industries as the only potential supplier for eastern Aurora. This would generate much-needed revenue for Baykalia. The plan had been set in motion.

Remis Posol was a young man when he had begun his company. At the ripe age of 27, he had opened a small delivery business that would eventually grow to the massive transport corporation it is today. Of course, Serenitech took notice and offered Posol a deal; allow Serenitech vehicles to use their railway in return for a small percentage of the income. Nonetheless, Posol Industries ran smoothly like a finely-tuned engine for nearly a decade thanks to their domination on the Kostuv Railways.

Remis’ wife, simply known as Lady Posol, was also rapidly climbing her way up to the top, like her husband. She started off as a lowly errands girl, but was now one of the most powerful people in Baykalia, and had just gotten off the plane. Lady was recently in talks with ACA-SEPC members about constructing a canal on Arcturia, just north of Spoontuis. The talks had gone on for about two hours, and were much quicker than she had expected. This canal would give her husband’s company easier access to a new land to commercially conquer, but that wasn’t the prominent thought in her mind; she was more concerned about the plan. Was it going to work? Even after years of meticulous planning, she was still quite nervous.

Finally home, Lady Posol was greeted by her eighteen children, all fighting to embrace their mother. In the background was Remis, who although smiling, one would be able to detect a hint of pensiveness in his eyes. He was anxious about the plan, and Lady knew it.

Lady: “Everyone to bed, all of you! Clean yourselves first of course, oldest to youngest! Jorkov, help Lavila with brushing her teeth. Remis, go get Ivan from bed.”

After all the chaos of having to get eighteen children between the ages of 3 and 17 to bed, Lady and Remis got themselves into bed. The next day would be the day they would change everything.

Three months ago. A meeting between the Posols, media executive Yorov Worovich, and children’s media executive Tivia Firivia:

Remis: “Alright, this meeting is to discuss the current situation in Baykalia. The economic environment, as all of you know, is dismal and depressing. Me and my wife have a plan that should bring back our economy. The current system of a universal income will eventually fail, and our plan will make raising these kids much easier. Me and my wife just need you two to help us.”

A couple hours pass…

Firivia looks down at the documents given to her by the Posols, and looks up: “After much thought, I have decided this plan is best for Baykalia and her children. You have my support and my media channels.”

Worovich: “You have my support as well. My news channels are yours to use.”

Lady: “A thousand thanks. We will reward you greatly when all this is over.”

Later in the month…

Lady Posol just got off the phone with TV execs Worovich and Firivia, both agreeing to “persuade” the youngest generation to support her, and to keep the older 280K out of the loop. Lady also instructed the two executives to air an advertisement for a massive daycare/education center/recreational center for the children in Baykalia. The ad would inform the adults that they had nothing to worry about, that their little ones would be taken care of at one of the most innovative facilities in Baykalia, and the entire facility was free to use. The ad also informed the parents that this would allow them to pursue their interests, which of course were neglected and overshadowed by the responsibility of having children. All of this was true, but there was something that the ad did not mention. They would be taken care of, as the ad said, but the facility would also mentally manipulate the children in such a way that would bring Lady Posol to power.
[edit_reason]Made all of it three months ago[/edit_reason]

January 10th, 2017 (End of Rolgorod’s first term, and the beginning of the election cycle)
(OOC: Election day is on February 17th, 2017)

The advertisement was a success: Nearly 83% of all parents sent their kids to the camp/daycare/etc. by the end of the year. Thanks to a series of serendipitous happenings, Lady Posol was undoubtedly going to be the next ruler of Baykalia. The election cycle had begun, with Lady Posol as one of the candidates. The voting age was 16 years, and there were 370,000 16 year-olds, 230,000 17 year-olds, and 411,000 18 year-olds ready to vote for Lady Posol. Even if a few rebels voted for someone else, there would still be a majority vote for Posol. The 280K and the 18 year-olds could move on to become taxpayers, and the youngest generation would be conditioned to follow Lady Posol. Lady and Remis of course would also get the economy back on its feet, as promised. The only thing left in the plan would be supplying Lady Posol with total power.

(OOC: Another RP that I’ve ran out of motivation for; gonna end it quick like I did “MORE GOOD MORE”)

Lady Posol and her council were elected to office, and soon enough the four individuals reduced the other branches’ power, while giving the executive branch more powers. Due to the daycare/academy set up a few months ago, the children and teenagers had been brainwashed to follow Lady Posol unconditionally, having been conditioned to believe she was a savior of the Baykalian people. The media, being controlled by Posol, also kept the Baykalians from knowing the truth. By the end of Fall of 2017, the economy had been brought up to $1 billion, a significant increase from its initial $425 million at the beginning of 2017. This increase in GDP was due to everyone above the age of 18 required to contribute to the economy in some way.
